41  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Microsoft tells users to stop using strong passwords everywhere on: July 17, 2014, 02:01:17 PM
You don't need to remember passwords. Just always use the "forgot my password" link and get a new auto-generated one every time you want to use the site. If they don't assign a temporary one, just cut and paste a whole paragraph from an arbitrary web page that you happen have open. You don't have to remember anything if you reset every time you want to log in.

Don't do this.
At least add a number or a %^& . A paragraph in English is such an easy target.

Suprisingly no, it's not. Atleast for sufficiently long paragraph of rare text. There is rather large number of common English words. 5 or so of these gives good security. As long as paragraph isn't: correct horse battery staple
42  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Microsoft tells users to stop using strong passwords everywhere on: July 16, 2014, 08:37:03 PM
I have had this stance for long. Let's take places like random forums and semi-useful services that don't carry any financial risks or allow access to other places, is strong passwords really needed in those?
43  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Saturated fats are not bad for you. on: July 16, 2014, 07:33:53 AM
The high consumption of sodas (and sugar added "juices") and fried potatoes and trans-fat laden processed foods is what makes people fat .Obesity is tied with global climate change. Even the global cooling hiccup is factored in there.
Fried potatoes are fine if they're fried in saturated fats (coconut, palm, butter, tallow, lard, duck fat, etc). BTW beef tallow is far and away the superior choice among what you listed.

Frying isn't the issue, it's the potatoes with that...

Legalizing Marijuana will kill the drug cartel in Mexico.

Nah those guys are good smart capitalists, they will find other markets. Have trust in them!
45  Other / Politics & Society / Re: An Analysis of HOW America Fell in the Shitter on: July 07, 2014, 12:42:32 PM
Just a question from USA political history: When did the big parties start actively blocking each other constantly? Have they at some point tried to reach consensus?
46  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can ISP block bitcoin network? on: July 07, 2014, 12:19:01 PM
Could it happen like that?

To block bitcoin node traffic the ISPs would need to filter out all traffic doing something called deep packet inspection for all international traffic. As far as I know only China, with its Great Firewall, and some others dictature-led countries are capable of doing it.  I am quite sure India doesn't have this capability. They, most likely, can only blacklist individual IP addresses and domain names.

It can be done, though it does need quite large investment because doing it at high-speed isn't easy.

Adding additional layer of encryption could fix some of the problems. Forming a connection could still be an issue. Basicly lot of things can be blocked on Internet, but these blocks can be circumvented by encryption, VPN and so on...
47  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 7 - 7 - 7 (Not for sheeple. Takes a doze of intelligence and concentration) on: July 07, 2014, 11:36:34 AM
For the kids that find the above info too hard to understand/Accept:

48  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Any chance Hillary Clinton could be gay? on: July 05, 2014, 03:36:41 AM
USA is a so backward nation they will not elect gay or atheist for next 20 years or so...

In Finland a gay came second, but clearly lost the last presidential election. He being Green might have had an bigger effect though and fact that opponent was one of the biggest in politics...
49  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The NSA Is Targeting Users of Privacy Services, Leaked Code Shows on: July 04, 2014, 05:44:54 AM
It's safe to say that every person on this forum is on their deep investigation list.

Libertarians and Anarchist are probably quite high there indeed...

Too bad USA has so much international power, otherwise following all this would be great fun.
50  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Any chance Hillary Clinton could be gay? on: July 04, 2014, 05:42:38 AM
Just saw this on BM, thought it was pretty funny and wanted to share;

https://www.betmoose.com/bet/hilary-clinton-to-announce-she-is-gay-july-2014-412

(she's married right???)

Could any of our politicians be in the closet as to avoid public scrutiny?

They could and there is probably quite number of them. Just as there is atheist...

Hillary, might not be the one though...
51  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Some statistics on welfare on: July 01, 2014, 07:43:44 AM
If you count commuting time/costs, income taxes, and lost welfare benefits then a well paying job could potentially only pay someone ~$2 per hour in additional income above what they got before leaving the various welfare rolls.

Cost of living in developed countries is just too high... And that is probably unsolvable issue on short term, until global labour prices stabilise...
52  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is the US press really that free? on: July 01, 2014, 04:22:25 AM
It's not state owned, but large outlets are owned by same oligarchs who pay off  the elected officials... What difference that makes, I do not comment on...
53  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Child porn image embedded in the blockchain on: July 01, 2014, 01:48:25 AM
There was a linked child porn image put in years ago. The issue was already checked. Legally nobody is liable for having it in the blockchain.

Child porn images pass through ISPs daily and they have not been raided even though the bits existed on their routers.

Nice try. The price will be higher and higher, buy now instead of trying to get cheap coins.

Having them in memory or transferring them is considered different from distribution and storing long term... So it can be an issue in worst case.
54  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US Supreme Court Justice Chip Away at Obamacare in 5-4 Decision on: June 30, 2014, 06:54:24 PM
So could atheist company argue that they shouldn't be forced to pay extra on sundays and holidays? And if some people don't want to work on christmas-eve for the standard rate they are free to fire them?
55  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Some statistics on welfare on: June 30, 2014, 07:19:59 AM
The programs started with good intentions but the fraud rates are going up.  The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Free is a dangerous concept.

Any free food given to a country population for prolong period of time will destroy the country agriculture industry. Same with cloth and textile industry.

Short term assistance to relieve disaster is fine. Long term dependency will destroy the country population ability to stand on their own two legs.

There is no such thing as a free lunch (no pun intended)

When people are given "free" money for food or other forms of welfare it must be ultimately be paid for by other people.

And if people are truly desperate and they have options, they aren't going to quietly die of by hunger. They are going to take food or money from somewhere, this population is much smaller and heavier hit than if it was everyone.

Welfare is way to prevent crime and costs related to it. Other way is to not punish for petty theft, because lack of resources or waste lot more money for that punishment.

Real problem is that there just isn't options for everyone to provide for themselves at this time...
56  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is it unethical to participate in a Ponzi scheme knowing full well it will fail? on: June 30, 2014, 07:11:51 AM
If everyone in the scheme knows the risks it is caveat emptor. For me personally it is neither ethical or intelligent to take part but to each his own. It really is just another form of gambling.

I also take this viewpoint, if everyone participating fully well know the nature of it being ponzi it's just gambling.

How ever if someone have more info on it, or some don't fully understand the it being ponzi; it becomes un-ethical. Insider info or scamming isn't ethical.

How does wallet generation work? How does privacy work? Why do voters need to apply?
58  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Hate to Russia bring to cut Ukrainian Birch trees. on: June 29, 2014, 10:06:53 AM
While I wouldn't mind banging a Russian broad, there's just no way I'd ever be able to converse with her. Looking at those words and letters just makes my head spin. Anyways, hope they make good use of those Birch trees.

 Grin

Hey, it's not that difficult. Half of the letters are roughly the same with the same reading and order as in Latin. You can learn all 33 letters in a week. And Russian is WYSIWYG, so once you know the letters you can read - (almost) no mucking about with exceptions as in English or French, which mainly consist of exceptions. Then learn a few words and string them together - Russian is more liberal when it comes to sentence building, with the order of the words giving slightly different flavours to the sentence meaning.

You can equally well say:
I go home
Home I go
Go I home

That conclude your first lesson of Russian language Tongue

As I told a lot of people who are scared about the fact that the world might speak chinese...
With 150 000 Europeans learning chinese every year but with 10 million chinese learning English.. which language will we talk?

What would be easier? Mister copy paste links 247crypto to start learning English or the rest of the board ?

Chinese-English or mix of Chinese and Indian-English?

^^^ Global sporting organizations should get rid of these corrupt people. This issue exists not only with FIFA, but all across the other sports as well. Similar scandals are occurring with cricket and rugby also.

FIFA itself is corrupted. Non-profit organisation which isn't taxed during events and has billion dollar bank...
