301  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you really believe in bitcoin as a currency? on: November 18, 2013, 10:06:05 AM
If it is not a currency, then why does it have any value at all, other than as a ponzi scheme where new investors provide the gains for earlier investors?  Wink

When the market cap of those naive enough to buy this is saturated, then we play pop-goes-the-balloon.

I am not saying that Bitcoin doesn't show us the way towards a real decentralized currency. But Bitcoin ain't it and can't be, because there is no way to distribute the coins such that it could be, i.e. there are 7 billion people on this planet and by the time 1% of them own Bitcoin, the rest of them will be worth 1/1000000 if Bitcoin becomes the global currency. And Bitcoins are concentrated into investors hands, and investors don't spend all their networth as a currency. And if all the people don't use it as currency, then how do you invest with it and pay employees with it. Just think it out.

Distribution is the critical factor nowadays in any business. How did facebook win? Distribution!

How with the elite win when setting up the next currency regime for the world? Distribution!

Mimicking sweaty armpits Steve Ballmer, instead of "developers, developers, developers", this gorilla is chanting "distribution, distribution, distribution".

And I am not saying I don't admire the genius of what Bitcoin shows us might be possible.

I don't see why any big fiat players would move to BTC... When they have an option to start new one with rest of the big players. And they can get the regular folk behind that one. Just by starting to pay with it and only accepting it...

And I mean the billionaires, large financial institutions and such...
302  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL hosted mining - PREORDER! cant believe it! on: November 18, 2013, 09:40:06 AM

303  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Flash crash? on: November 18, 2013, 09:04:48 AM
I hope so... I sold the rest at 500...

Some 200 would be nice to have...
304  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you really believe in bitcoin as a currency? on: November 17, 2013, 10:33:35 PM
No.

It won't replace fiat. Other cryptos might but not the bitcoin...

Who are you to say that Vod isn't part of god's plan... He is here to test you and others. You can't go against god's will now can you?

Are you sticking up for vod, the 'licking his boob' man, who has the spirit of the anti-christ?

How do you know I'm not the devil doing what god asked, that is testing and tormenting people? Like god did with Job...
307  Other / Politics & Society / How long would it take for Anarchy to start working? on: November 17, 2013, 02:21:00 PM
I thought about this question when it comes to Anarchy.

How long would it take for majority to adapt to anarchy, that is start to follow rational non-aggresive principles. And majority of the destructive forces to be forced out of market by consumer choise?

That is if we were to start now?
308  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Does Anyone Else Believe In Jesus Christ ? on: November 17, 2013, 02:08:11 PM

vod has the spirit of the anti-christ

vod also is some kind of perverse individual who goes around on these forums with the saying: 'been licking his boob'

Now, come and reason with me, are you really going to believe such a person as vod?

I asked vod not to post in this thread, but he has responded by continually stalking and posting rude comments.

If you believe in Jesus Christ, then you likely can see where I am coming from.

Post here and let us know that you believe in Jesus Christ.

Who are you to say that Vod isn't part of god's plan... He is here to test you and others. You can't go against god's will now can you?

309  Other / Politics & Society / Re: "Internet Kill Switch" on: November 17, 2013, 02:05:33 PM
well the problem is that if the internet went down, the price for BTC would completely crash as fewer people would believe in it or have access to it.

If the internet went down, the price of BTC would be the least of your worries.

yes. this would be dramatically for the economy of the world. but its not possible to kill the complete internet, but you can cut of single countries.

Exactly, inside the individual countries it would work, but between there can be major issues. On other hand also inside countries depending the infrastructure, destruction of single or a few points can have major impact.

I'm starting to believe that Internet even working is a small miracle itself... I think it's the most complex thing humans have build...
310  Other / Politics & Society / Re: "Internet Kill Switch" on: November 16, 2013, 08:34:51 PM
You can do severe damage to internet in right places with right resources.

Just mess up with routing and dns servers...

First one can stop large amount of inter network traffic and later one the regular use of internet.

It can stand a nuclear war, but only if there is someone keeping it running...
311  Other / Politics & Society / Re: "Internet Kill Switch" on: November 15, 2013, 10:49:04 PM
Internet is rather fragile if Tier 1 operators would start messing with it.

There is rather large amount of hand craft on the deeper levels... Just stop handful of entities from routing traffic and you can kill the internet... Or at least make it unbearably slow...

What about people who destroy their liver do overtaking regular pain medicine?
313  Other / Politics & Society / Re: People who do not believe in Jesus Christ are blind and deaf on: November 15, 2013, 03:55:30 PM
As an agnostic man. I refuse to believe we are all a bunch of inbred sinners as the bible would have us believe.. (adam and eve > leading to incest)

+1

It's worse. We don't have even the genes from gods which we could still have, if the Yahweh hadn't wiped out everyone but Noah and his family...
314  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Has Bitcoin changed your political position on: November 12, 2013, 03:02:42 AM
Yes, I used to want smaller government.

Who wouldn't want smarter government... Too bad I don't see that one ever happening, or only with total crash...
315  Other / Politics & Society / Re: computer programming is similar to witch-craft on: November 12, 2013, 02:06:50 AM
Burn the witch!

Then again, perhaps you think that computer programming is not witchcraft?

I wonder what people think about this

No it's certainly not.

Programming is like cooking following a recipe or any other such activity.

We just have a very complex tool for it.
316  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Has Bitcoin changed your political position on: November 12, 2013, 02:03:15 AM
i have to admit that i voted for obama both times. i gave him a pass for not going after bank/wall street execs, but the last straw for me was when he sent the hammer down on snowden, whom i believe is 100% innocent. julian assange, on the other hand, i found to be more seedy.

anyways, the whole snowden issue was an eye opener for me. obama wants state police, and he wants to spread the american hegemony across the world. i won't be voting for a democrat again.

Assange is a weird case. But, if Sweden is in it it's just one more example of hegemony, he isn't even a citizen after all.
317  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Tithing on: November 12, 2013, 01:40:54 AM
Is bitcoin a cult then?
318  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Has Bitcoin changed your political position on: November 12, 2013, 01:27:43 AM
Not really.

If something maybe even more to left. I can't just understand how stupid our current monetary system is...
319  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Tithing on: November 12, 2013, 12:52:07 AM
And of course you are allowed to think it's wrong, even if you don't see it's only because of your association.  You are "too close", so to say.

I am curious as to why you call islam a cult, but not your own christianity.

What do you think the definition of "cult" is?    According to the dictionary, which most people get their definitions from, any group of people that worship the same thing is a cult.

Further, if you got to Europe, you can see how Islam has turned many cities into disaster areas.

In England and Norway, there are many areas considered "no go zones" for non Muslims. Unlike going down a street in a nice neighborhood in the US or Canada, going in will not only elicit dirty looks, but will likely get you beat up or killed. Even the police will not go into certain areas for fear of violence.

Islam is a cult because of it tenets

In Islam, you can be killed for apostasy (leaving Islam).
In Islam, you cannot say anything derogatory about Muhammed, or you will be killed.
Preaching another religion in a Muslim country will get you imprisoned and or killed.

In Islam disciplinary action includes beating, maiming, stoning, beheading or jail. Excommunication is for minor offenses.
Those who leave Islam must live in constant threat of being discovered and killed.

Based on the above, Islam is a cult. It is the biggest and the most successful cult. It practically reunites every feature of cult. Other cults may not be cultic in some of the above points. But Islam is cultic in every way and it would be a gross mistake to number it among religions just because 1.2 billion benighted people call themselves Muslims.

Hmm I wonder what this reminds me of. Was there some rather popular religion similiar couple hundreds years ago?

I wonder if we would have done better without US involvement. Maybe...
