41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][ZEN][Pre-sale] Zennet: Decentralized Supercomputer - Official Thread on: November 19, 2014, 01:32:17 PM
I can't see how this make any sense at all, not everything runs better or more efficient as a decentralized structure...good luck to you.

look again: on a centralized system, the owner will take some fee. why would a VC invest in them otherwise?
here, the system is fully decentralized, and no one takes commissions.
so, a centralized system will fail due to lack of ability to compete.

You mistakenly think price is the only way systems compete.

Someone is going to do this with BTC and then Zencoin will be worthless. No one wants to convert to BTC then to Zen...BTC wins and this project ends up in the trash can.

if it would be possible to do it over BTC, I'd do it..

I edited the post...sry.

yes i understand. but why would someone do it over BTC? it'll be so much slow and unacceptable for the renting entities.
it's just impossible to 'do it right' with BTC
also pls note this issue has been discussed here several times, and no one came up with a way to do it with BTC

I'm saying this would work much better as a centralized wallet service like changetip that skim the payments or withdrawals to monetize the project. You get the ICO money so I understand you wanting to pursue this direction. You could get VC funding for this biz in BTC I'm sure...maybe head that direction before you waste a lot of people's money.

Well, the point is to make it decentralized Smiley

Why? This is what I am saying...someone will do this in BTC as a biz. It will launch before you can cause it really is not that much original coding and then investors money will be wasted.

1. the coin part is the most un-original part. the computation and market and security etc. parts are the problem.
2. no one will do it for free. on zennet, being decentralized, no one takes any kind of fee. no middlemen at all.

PS note the last comment was edited

You should set up a changetip type wallet service and have % withdrawl fee to monetize this project. Use BTC if you want this to be successful.

How much of the ICO funds are going toward advertising the network? Are you going to be transparent with how you handle the funds or is this just paying you for your work on building the platform? Are the funds from the ICO going directly back into building the network or are they going to pay you all for your time/ideas?

What does the advertisers interface look like? How does the advertiser select demographics to advertise to?

I've seen this kind of conversation played out a million times on bitcoin talk. A whole bunch of people claiming their coin is different because it has feature X and people want/need feature X.  Usually, feature X is either hyped, doesn't work the way its supposed to, or doesn't even exist, and the "people" usually does not go further than the small band of loyalists who just want to see their coin go up in value.

if u dont believe in the development or u dont think this coin is different, then leave it...stop fudding here

or join the community

it is very simple

First law of crypto: All criticism = FUD

It's FUD because you have no criticism of SDC, you are just disenfranchised with crypto and the scams in crypto. SDC is in fact different. With the number of innovations that have been released over the last 4 months, this coin could have been pumped/hyped into the stratosphere by the devs...it was not and is not being hyped. All that has happened is innovation after innovation has been released in full working condition as claimed in the announcements. If you can not see the difference in how SDC has managed this project vs other hype/scam projects then evaluation of investments may not be your calling.

private test has been completed and public test for ZKsnarks has started...!!!

i am sure dev team will do an announcement and they will release the whitepaper

also review of the code will follow as far as i know

join irc, an get the latest info by urself
Np and just so you know, i do believe snarks is yet to be implemented. Right now its ZKRS Zero Knowledge, Ring Signatures. As far as i know they MAY be swapped out for Snarks in the future.
One day when the devs have time to finish their much needed and anticipated paper. We will all know 100%, for sure, what it is they have even done! Until then its just guesswork, but my best guess is its not zksnarks

From my understanding SNARKS has inherent problems. The zk + ring signatures implementation is a fix to those problems. Ask Ryno for the explanation. A real (not vaporware), working, ZK implementation is the real advancement here.

Ok I get it, risk is not that big. That doesn't mean it is not a big issue. These are basic things that should work, issues like this will put off potential/new investors (like me!). How can the team be fully focused on Zsnarks when such basic wallet issues exist? This needs to be fixed with urgent priority, today or tomorrow. After it has been fixed, focus can go back to Zsnarks. I don't think I'm being unreasonable or over-reaction here, am I?

The "issue" has not affected most users (maybe 10 out of 1000's have posted about it). There is no chance of losing coins and there are ways the user can fix it if it does happen. It is a minor issue.
Fixing the issue will take an update to POS which means all the current features will need updating. It is a minor issue with a major change to fix it. Let the devs work...the issue is know and will be next in the line of projects after zk.

As a long time darkcoin holder, what really brought me to drk was that Evan was very transparent with who he was and it led me to have some faith to invest in the project.

I'm wondering who is the core team behind SDC? I'm already invested a little, but want to know more.

What made me trust this dev team is the tech they have put out. They never hype anything and they never even announce a project until its already on testnet. Getting a community roadmap from these guys was very difficult because they are so careful to not hype their tech. This is one reason no one has heard of SDC other than those who have been lucky enough to stumble across it. They have released an incredible amount of firsts in crypto within the last 4 months.

  - First wallet2wallet rich text instant, anon, encrypted messaging
  - First openssl dualkey stealth addresses
  - First full feature mobile staking wallets
  - First HTML5 wallet
  - First POS lite wallet/SPV

Im sure I am forgetting some tech releases but you get the idea. What's even more crazy is that they quickly open source all this tech, maybe to the detriment of gaining notoriety for SDC.

They are about to release a tech breakthrough that nobody has been able to accomplish. People have been trying to pull off ZK for over a year and no one has been able to do it. From what I am hearing ZK is testing just fine and will be public testing very soon. All this makes me trust this dev team even more than knowing who someone is in real life.

+1 Well spoken.

Glad to have you on our side.

Glad to be here.

zerovert - keep your shitheads off sdc board or this scam will not see the light of day. Your delete key will not keep up.

I see Zerovert running with the worlds 1st implementation of zk-snarks. It not to say SDC's won't be a better or more secure version but it is not the first coin to implement it. Same for the mobile staking wallets. Other coins release Android pos coin staking wallets. It's great to toot your own horn but again be accurate. Do try to walk over others accomplishments. It only invites trolling and is damaging to this great coins image. A rampant fan boy can be every bit as bad as the nastiest troll.

I'm not trolling as I own a nice bit of SDC either. This is advice the promotion team guys can use. The great features and perfected of ones SDC will speak loudly on their own with out all the semantic bullshit.

No zerovert does not have ZK integrated...sorry but its a scam coin.
SDC had the first full feature POS mobile staking wallet. Another coin released a stripped down version of a wallet they were building (in question whether it worked) when they found out they were weeks behind SDC. SDC released the first full feature mobile staking wallet and first ios staking wallet of any kind.

Considering I get completely ignored on IRC now, I've resorted to this.

Since the update to the HTML5 wallet, the client refuses to open, every time.
I ran through a few options with SDCDev a while back but nothing helped.

Did anyone else have this issue of the client refusing to open?

If so how'd you fix it?

This is the first I've heard of an issue. "longandshort" or "00smurf" may be able to help. SDCdev is sleeping so I don't think you are being ignored.

If SDC devs are so great why I have not heard of the coin and why they cost $ 0.066? I don't fully understand why we have to merge. Sound like trouble.

I agree, SDC community is sucks.

DRK's dev was after the SDC tech, not the community.

Hey all

Please see our statement regarding the events that took place today:
http://shadowtalk.org/topic/252/darkcoin-proposal-statement

This is exactly how I had hoped you would respond. The dev does not own the coin, the community needs to have a voice on these matters. ShadowCash will get the attention it deserves in due time.

nice progess you have.
At least Evan promote you in a nice way Smiley

Wish you bright future... pity we didnt merge
I change my BBR to SDC now

I still have my 42 DRK, Both coins have their pluses.

yep, it would be such a news if we merged...

It won't happen...drk holders are too caught up with the "first anon" thing to recognize superior technology.
60  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] Darkcoin | First Anonymous Coin | Inventor of X11, DGW and Darksend | Instant TX on: November 06, 2014, 09:40:52 PM
promises... lets see what is going to be released.

anon chat, anon video, sharp wallet is not important. instant tx and anon ecash is important.

Exactly and Shadowcash's implementation of Zero Knowledge will end the anon debate. PERIOD

Propulsion ^^^^ theirs everything u need

HAHAHAha wait and see the public testnet is very very close and when i say very I mean sooner then you think

Heres a link to the first ever Zero Knowledge transaction.. https://twitter.com/CryptoBoh/status/529328798148222976
"error" and "Unparsed address" in insight-based block explorer doesn't prove anything

I don't think he was intending to prove anything. He was saying the public test will be this week. This has been on testnet. He was just showing you the first ever zk transaction. The proof of that statement will come this week in the public test. SDC open sources everything very quickly so you can then go over the code and check it out for yourself. I encourage you to check SDC's github if you are questioning the developers skills.
