42  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Bitmit - Bitcoin shopping mall - Bitcoin market place - Bitcoin auction house on: December 20, 2013, 05:53:09 PM
BitMit was one of the first Bitcoin sites I started getting involved with. I had no clue what this new currency I had was and no idea what to do with it but Bitmit was there for me and gave gave me a fun place to sell some silver and copper trinkets along other items. BitMit was very good to me.  Cry

Thank you all so much for a wonderful community experience and the opportunity to learn about bitcoin and the amazing world of possibilities is brings to us all!

Hear, hear!

I do also miss it allready, hasnt hit my small btc-businesses revenue too hard yet, but I cant help but wonder if I'd still see 25% more sales if bitmit were around. I do hope someone fills this void... and no please do not tell me about coingig, I tried it: customers are non existent, fees were higher and rose signifigantly after bitmit closed.

As promised something to keep your drinks cool:

Bitcoin whiskey stones, just as a transaction requires six blocks to be considered complete the package includes six stones... and a velvet storage pouch. Please note that the box does read nine stones, but actually only contains six. Each stone weighs between 20 and 25g. Some of the stones may have cracks and may not be entireley the same colour, this is because of the material: natural stone. Each side has the bitcoin symbol on it.

Recommended usage: Lagavulin single malt.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Think you hit the nail with manufacture, this is one variable i am not confident in.

Black Arrow say they are shipping late Feb.....What if they pull off a BFL stunt lol.

Also my order will most likely get caught up in UK customs lol, its not likely they will let $6k get past them without Milking 20% VAT form me!!!!

Tough call here, i was thinking to go down just buying the bloody coins instead.

Just would really like to mine them, may i ask what vendor your using for your machines?

Cheers

Ryan
Vat is most certainly a major consideration, I myself primarily look for hardware within the Eu because of this. I have heard whispers of bitfury going for a second asic design of a smaller process, should that actually happen it's most likeley to be the point when I unlock my wallet to buy hardware again, if ever.

Any one?  Huh
I dont see anything wrong with your math, it is assumed that difficulty rises will eventually tone down, because asics cant get much more efficient (smaller nanometer processes). But your assesment of that being a bad investment seems correct. You have two options:
1. Keep up to speed with new developments in available hardware and once something looks good, go for it. To do this you need to feel very confident that the manufacturer you are going with will be capable and willing to ship when promised and with the specs promised.
2. Invest directly in to bitcoin.

[edit]
I myself am sitting next to some miners that will propably never hit 100% ROI in the currency I bough them with, btc. Had I paid in fiat I'd be past 100% by now tough, mainly because the exchange rate rising.

Package recieved, shipping and delivery were very fast. Contense of package is as ordered, or perhaps with an additional case for the tablet I ordered, cba. to check if it belonged to the item. I am happy to reccomend this service.

cp from reddit : "I've just been told by my bank, The Commonwealth Bank of Australia, that they won't allow me to transfer money to bitstamp.net so I can start buying bitcoins and other alts. I think that this is diabolical behaviour and I'm going to close my commonwealth bank account over this. What I would like to know is, what is the most convenient way to buy bitcoins from Australia?"

50  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Bitfury ASIC sales in EU and Europe on: December 06, 2013, 12:36:17 PM
1. I don't set the price so please stop calling me greedy. You guys don't seem to realize what I've gone through to deliver you machines on time that made you ROI a long time ago. I've worked my ass off since july to make this happen. It makes me sad that it's all so quickly forgotten due to the exact thing you're now accusing me of.
I personally have not called you greedy, I feel like I should explain my view. Even if you were being greedy it would be perfectly justifiable. You are not nor should be in the business of handing out free money.
2. Before you start calling people greedy, think what would you do in Tytus's place. He has hardware than makes shitloads of money for him. Would you sell your miner even to your friend who really-really wants to start mining at the price you paid in september? All of you have made ROI with our hardware. Now you want MOAR. And you want even faster ROI and MOARMOARMOAR. There's a name for this kind of mentality Wink
I'd keep selling at a price that makes business sense, like I think you are currently doing.
3. The primary reason why we don't have hardware to sell is the shortage of chips. Not too long ago people were complaining 15€ per chip is too expensive and that our hardware is too expensive. This sends a signal to manufacturer that there's no market for the product. This is why we didn't do large volume production, but only produced enough for Tytus's mine which is based on the new H-card, so no chips were left for old H-cards.
Any insight on if and when the supply of chips could improve ?

Our customer feedback is very important to us as it is to explain to you the reasons behind our delivery procedure.
We have also tried an automated expense calculator but the differences between countries and products categories are just to big to provide any estimation.
Do you think we should give more visibility to our delivery policy?
Thanks for your feedback and trust
Yes, the mistake was mine, but your site could be more clear on the issue at hand.
52  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] bitroad.co.uk -- crypto marketplace -- electronics for bitcoins litecoins on: December 05, 2013, 04:33:22 PM
Our company is operating this way for many different reasons.

1 If we have to import and resend the items we will have to sell for a higher price

2 Cost of storage in UK is very expensive and we will have to add an extra on the products price

3 If you are not the direct  importer you will have no warranty on your item from the manufacturer

4 The delivery time will be longer

5 in many countries the import fees and tax is extremely low

Our delivery policy and the purpose of our service is clearly explained in the apposite section of our website

http://bitroad.co.uk/content/1-delivery

From your first post it seems that this was unexpected from you but this is not an hidden cost is fully explained in our policy.

Thanks for shipping with us

I perfectly understand your reasons, I am only stating that this was a dissapointment to me. Consider this just open (and fiendly) customer feedback.

I'll just leave this here:
54  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] bitroad.co.uk -- crypto marketplace -- electronics for bitcoins litecoins on: December 05, 2013, 02:01:41 PM
Hello,
I'm sorry for your disappointment, we ship all our products directly from China as specified in our delivery policy. I don't understand why you had to go to the custom office because the point of using our website instead of making a purchase directly from the manufacturer is that we provide assistance, warranty and you should just pay the import fees to the courier.
Import fees are different (if present) for every country and product type.
Again sorry for your inconvenience but in our delivery policy is clearly indicated that we ship from China and that certain countries are subject to import fees.
Thanks for shopping with us.
Well actually I can skip the part where I waste my time at a customs office, and I'll propably do that. It just costs me another 31,43€, which can hardly be described as cheap.
55  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] bitroad.co.uk -- crypto marketplace -- electronics for bitcoins litecoins on: December 03, 2013, 12:49:02 PM
I felt like taking the "leap of faith" on this service: Placed an order, got to pay and recieved an order confirmation. I'll post an update as I have more to share.

[edit1] Shortly after ordering I recieved an email asking if I would like my regular shipping upgraded to express, free of charge. Less than 24h after ordering I recieved (two different!?) emails stating that my package has shipped. One of them contained a tracking link. To my HUGE dissapointment the package has shipped from "SHENZHEN - CHINA, PEOPLES REPUBLIC ". Making this service utterly useless as it's only benefit for me seemed to be that it shipped from within the Eu. So now I get to go down to a customs office, wait an hour while the officers there try to figure out under which of hundereds of different vat-codes does the shipment fall under. All of which are taxed and treated the same. Then I get to spend another hour explaining what a bitcoin is and how I payed. Then I get to pay 24% Vat. In essence making the whole effort a huge waste of my time as I could of have picked up similiar goods for roughly the same price locally.

tldr: I tought that a Uk business would ship packages from the Uk, arriving from China instead going to get raped by the local tax authorities.

[edit2] Package recieved, shipping and delivery were very fast. Contense of package is as ordered, or perhaps with an additional case for the tablet I ordered, cba. to check if it belonged to the item. I am happy to reccomend this service.

59  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitfury 400G FIRE Hazard (pics) on: November 25, 2013, 07:54:25 PM
After some thinking (and testing) the real fire hazard is not the bitfury. It's that retarded pci-e cable, just use two of them (you got plenty with the pus's) and your good.

[edit] The cable is bad because it's insufiscient for the power needed, note that having two separate cables halves the load on the copper.
[edit2] Apparrently this conclution was allready reached.

Thanks for posting, this led me to balance the load between my psu's. Had one with warm cables, hope swapping some h-boards to another m-board is sufficient.
