Anyone else getting spotty performance (shutdowns until unit cools) from APW3++ power supplies split between 2 L3+?

had a couple fail in temperatures that are well within operating spec of the unit.

Where can i get parts for my pandaminer.

Or are we restricted to RMA process?

With power on i just get full blast fans and no post. have tried booting with no/single gpu same result.

adjusting straps is not something that can be done real time.

custom timings and copy/pasting tighter straps up to 2000MHz clocks can only be done in bios.

if you're running linux there are limited apps like those available in windows that adjust voltage on the fly.

hard coding under-volting to bios provides advantage of it being properly volted for mining efficiency every boot up.

over clocking memory and core for the most part can be done via software after booting to os but why bother if you have tested and found the sweet spot it's best to hard code it into the gpu bios.

Questions like this make me wish I could transport a brick through the internet.
Well bud Im sorry I run my own construction company and have been working 7 days a week getting jobs done doing estimates paperwork taxes payroll you want me to keep going just in case you haven't noticed its summer Im sorry I dont have all day to play with the card Ive had sitting in a box for three weeks cause all my other rx470 and doing just fine also so thanks for the smart ass comment cause every time a homeowner ask me a dumb question about their job or or a friends car Im working on I wish I could plant a fucking hammer or wrench in their head but than I remember some ppl never lifted a hammer in their life or don't have a clue on how to fix their car but I guess your are the man at everything

so just for context, if someone opened a construction company next door to you to compete directly.. and then showed up where you hang out and asked how to use a hammer.. you would be okay with that?

49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: gpushack.com review, received a 139 USD mothercard for 359 USD... on: June 22, 2017, 06:03:46 PM
if you don't see any added value in the motherboard he sent you why have you not named the model?

i think you're more upset that you weren't able to research properly yourself before paying for this or else you would be linking directly to amazon pricing for the same mobo you were sent.

how did you pay for the kit?

it would be good to monitor if qtminer and claymore experience the same drops..

I know i'll be [rying before/after in both miners.
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: No Email Confirmation from Bitmain on: June 19, 2017, 06:11:44 PM
there are some fake websites out there masquerading as bitmain to try and fool people into sending them coins..

there are also viruses that change bitcoin addresses in your copy/paste clipboard to a similar looking address that a hacker specifies.

i'm sure you're fine though its like gmt+8 in china so like early early morning right now (in case human verification is done before sending out confirmation email)

But if you killed card, did they fixed it within warranty?
Dual Bios cards I have only Sapphire Nitros nothing else, I have here like 10 different models, and only Nitro have dual bios...

1st CASE - I bought "like new" Aorus XTR 8GB card, its LED was not working and somebody played with timings already. As it has no bios switch I am not able to return it back to original bios without somebody sending me original BIOS for this card. Its LED is not working but it is not mechanicaly broken or unplugged as if I restart PC it flashes for half second. Or do you have any idea how or where to fix that LED settings?

2nd CASE - I bought new Gigabyte G1 8GB, my pc frozen while flashing BIOS via atiflash. Now card is a ZOMBIE. No PC turn on while that card is connected. I wanted to access its BIOS and reset it but I cannot cause that cooler is sticking too hard and without removing cooler I cannot access screws which hold the backplate. Got it? So that card is dead and I probably cant reset BIOS any other way yes? Need to send it back for warranty?

How to prevent this crazy atiflash from frozing my pc? It happened already 2 times from 24 cards I have, I have 2 zombie cards ffs, it is rly retarded. Why it works 22 times with no problem and two times crashes/freez and this is it, zombo cards...

The LED is user adjustable.. if the previous owner changed timings it is very likely he disabled the LED as well. Did your card arrive with the aorus graphics engine software cd? i found it made my system act funny but you can set the color of the led's, pattern of the flash/pulse and whether you want it on at all. install that software and you will be able to turn the LED back on provided it will work with the adjusted strap.

your default straps for aorus rx series hynix ram are:

Code:
2000: BBB000000000000022889D0073EE8D53805515133ECF560C004E26017E0514206A8900A0020031201C143840C5303F17

I personally would not use a daily usage computer to flash cards, particularly if you're using windows due to unknown malware or virus or even just extra services you may be unaware of running on your system.

try to have an old box with free pci slot you can boot freedos to and flash from there if possible.

as for your ZOMBIE card i'm still at a loss as to what you're trying to do. there is no jumper on the pcb to reset bios although that would be a nice option even on dual boot equipped cards.

"access" the bios has nothing to do with tearing down a card or removing it's cooler. you should be able to revive it somehow if you search around and find a similar scenario to what you are experiencing.
54  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD Rebrand - RX570 / RX580 - Official Thread on: June 19, 2017, 02:53:49 AM

why are you trying to access the bios chip anyways, you do realize "flashing the bios" has nothing to do with exposing bright light to an exposed semiconductor right?

omg, i almost died laughing.

Was going to thank you for the laugh.. but u almost killed me, so, no.

yeah you know if i had set it up with the original post and then replied (which i've never done myself but with some of these threads i really wonder) then i could accept the gratitude.. but i really don't know what this dude is on about, i think he literally wants to flash high power led's onto his chip to clear the memory.

Excuse me, When i'm use dual mining i got display problem.

quote from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_artifact

"Digital artifact in information science, is any undesired or unintended alteration in data introduced in a digital process by an involved technique and/or technology...

In information science, digital artifacts result from:

Hardware malfunction: In computer graphics, visual artifacts may be generated whenever a hardware component such as the processor, memory chip, cabling malfunctions, etc., corrupts data. Examples of malfunctions include physical damage, overheating, insufficient voltage and GPU overclocking. Common types of hardware artifacts are texture corruption and T-vertices in 3D graphics, and pixelization in MPEG compressed video."

The backplate on GB is different it just hold also on 3 internal screws from which 2 can be only accessed if I remove whole cooling which dont want to go out because of probably heat paste sticking like hell.
So - any other ideas? I cannot access that BIOS chip.

Also anybody with Aorus XTR 8GB original bios? Pls  Cry

yeah often a thermal adhesive is used or thermal tape that must be gently pried off of chips to remove them.

why are you trying to access the bios chip anyways, you do realize "flashing the bios" has nothing to do with shining bright light to an exposed semiconductor right?

what is the default hash rate of RX 570 n 580?

between 20-24MH/s before overclock and bios flash mods.
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX 470 + old parts.. on: June 18, 2017, 04:43:06 PM
Hello,

my RX 470 MSI Gaming 4GB has arrived, but still waiting for other parts(mobo, ram, cpu, psu, rx 570) and it will take approx 10 days :/

So the question is, is there a chance to put this RX470 into my old PC:

- C2D e6600 @ 3,2Ghz
-  Mobo Asus p5w DH Delux
- 8GB ram DDRII
- psu 750 gold+

or it will be just a gpu wasting?

like any computer component, if you install it incorrectly and ruin it then yes it's wasted.

your old pc should be fine for one or two gpu's mining so long as you dont have much malware and viruses on the system slowing down your every action.

i would leave the cover off of the system after the install though to minimize heat buildup.

are you still using this computer daily? or is it your spare, old pc..
59  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: So why does mining Equihash always give a lot of shares in the beginning? on: June 18, 2017, 02:21:05 AM
Here's an example:

It starts off big, but then after a while, it drops down to low accepted shares, but hashing is still the same.
Is there a bug, something malfunctioning in my system or is this how it is?
Why not just keep restarting the miner every minute or so to max out accepted shares?

it's the pools way of determining your hash rate.

ultimately our cards are just looking for the main block solution and bank the reward for doing so.. but for pools to work they need to measure your performance somehow and allocate funds to you accordingly weather you score the solution or not.

so on top of the main block solution, you are reporting "close calls" up to a certain diff level that the pool server is specifying.

it starts out accepting rather easy shares so if someone is just cpu mining it does not take forever to get the first share, but then to cut down on traffic if you are submitting lots of shares that are say 128k with a multi-gpu rig it will ramp up to only accept 512k diff shares and they free up 3/4 the bandwidth.

it's called variable difficulty and some pools allow you to tune this setting to optimize your hashrate a tad.

adaseb is totally right, i just wanted to elaborate.
