401  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 1x to 16x PCI-e Risers for $15/ea (shipped) on: December 30, 2013, 09:32:26 PM
Hey and I'm sure you can use a drill bit to clean your ears but I would not recommend it.

Yeah because that is totally the same thing...  Roll Eyes

If you don't know what you are talking about, you really shouldn't be giving advice to people.

I do know what I'm talking about. I have over 14000 KH mining altcoins. I have been building LTC miners for over a year. I'm not the only one out here who has voiced their opinion on unpowered risers.. just do a search!

even if YOU don't recommend it why come in and thread crap?  People have problems with both powered and unpowered risers usually a PSU issue, but many also have success with both.  It IS possible to use them for extended periods without problems everything has its limitations.  If you had a choice yes maybe you go with powered, but for a card or 2 with a sufficient PSU pulling 75 watts through the mobo and an unpowered riser shouldn't be an issue.

If you aren't building it and want something more professional than wire shelves and zip ties I have looked at the following, but never dealt with them:

405  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] - {Auction} - 2.4 GH/s Nano Fury USB Miner on: December 24, 2013, 10:29:01 PM
2.4 Gh/s Nano Fury USB Miner. Based off the open source Nano design popular on this forum.

Make your offer. This thread will run until Sunday 12/22 unless I accept a high offer before that.

Like all USB miners based on a single bit fury chip, these are estimated to run between 2.2-2.6 Gh/s. I test all mine to run at a consistent 2.4 Gh/s using BFGMiner on Windows. 30 day defective warranty. These follow the same setup instructions as Blue or Red Furies, but I will provide any support needed. This one has been hashing for about 3 days.

Bitcoin is my preferred payment method. I will agree to escrow, buyer pays all escrow fees and agrees to auto release unless they report a conflict within 12 hours of the tracking showing it was signed for. Shipping will be USPS priority flat rate, and require a signature. The cost of shipping is included in your bid. I will only ship international without escrow and buyer pays actual shipping costs.

I will accept PayPal in the US only to verified members with confirmed shipping addresses eligible for seller protection. Place your bids in UDS if you want to pay with PayPal

I have been working with a local engineer to be able to produce these locally without any pre orders or middle men. ASIC chip (bitfury) availability and market insanity has presented obstacles, but it has been an enlightening learning experience. I only have a dozen or so to sell at this time, so I am mostly listing on eBay to maximize profitability. In the future I would like to be able to produce these in bulk for a better price where we can offer these at wholesale to the savvy investors and resellers on this forum. To build credibility and measure interest I am auctioning off one here in this thread to the highest bidder.

Make your offer. This thread will run until Sunday 12/22 unless I accept a high offer before that.

$5.00 shipped. Did I win since this is now over?  If you need to correct the end date when does this actually end?

You registered 2 days ago and have no trust yet are you willing to either ship first to a trusted member or use escrow?
408  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Altcoin mining PC [ 600+ Mh/s ] on: December 24, 2013, 01:27:50 PM

410  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Butterfly Labs 5GH/s and 8GH/s Jalapeno Miners on: December 23, 2013, 03:03:06 AM
If you don't want to post a price PM me what you are looking for shipped to the US for either/each.  I don't feel like turning this into an auction as there is a section for that and don't understand why people post things for sale and no price!

i am not turning this thread into auction... Im just telling him my view on the price directly (not via pm). He didn't list the price so I assume it's best offer.

If you don't want us to see your offer pm him. SIMPLE.

You can use jalas to mine sha256 alt coins, it's never useless.

Bidding on an item and waiting for the highest bidder or best offer is in fact an auction format.  There was no "bid" placed by me in PM because I wanted to know an outright price and if the OP has one in mind I'll consider it if not it is in fact an auction.  I don't care to throw a blind price at them nor do I care to bid for the item when there are other people interested.  Everyone has their own price for what they believe something is worth and that's fine it's not directed at you stating a price you believe it's worth, but rather the OP for not putting one   when there is a sub forum for auctions(I know it's common in the marketplace, but it just prolongs sales and clutters up threads)!

417  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Mining directly to exchange account? on: December 17, 2013, 08:24:48 PM
You CAN mine directly to an exchange by setting your payout address as your exchange addy, but it's generally a bad security practice, but again no technical factor stopping it with the exception of certain pools that don't work quite right with it.

The need for jumpers is motherboard dependent there is a thread somewhere about it if you search and see pic below you jumper A1 and B17, I would also jumper at the board not the riser:

420  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how to optimize my HD 5850 on: December 16, 2013, 10:02:18 PM
I won't be able to recommend any miner* settings because I have stopped mining long ago and no longer remember, but you should be able to get at least 900 MHz on GPU without overvolting and you should underclock the memory to 250-300 MHz, you probably won't be able to have the card run faster than 395-410 MH/s and stay stable 24/7 without increasing the voltage.

I hope you are aware that you won't be able to make any profit by mining BTC with GPUs (it would be much more prudent to mine scrypt-based coins with them).

*you could also mention which miner you're using

By the intensity of 18 I was assuming he is mining scrypt and with either cgminer or bfgminer, but that's just a guess from his post!
