Big thanks to rotocoin for the help wouldn't have been done so swiftly without him!

Unfortunately I'm having problems compiling on my windows machine, as well my mac is only 32bit and it's having some problems so may need your friend or anyone around the community to help compile the wallets so I can update the website and send around messages to get the correct version. we are going to fork on block 445000 so we need to get this done asap!

Once we have this done I can create the new thread and get everyone to update their wallet.
402  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSC] CasinoCoin - The Premiere Coin for Casino Gaming | Kimoto Enabled! on: May 18, 2014, 05:53:17 PM
Wallet is syncing fast most of the time now, but sometimes the diff rises above 1 and then it might take half an hour or more to find a block. I see that when there are bigger transactions, the diff is rising in that transactionblock. The swings will be stabilized eventually, when this mining goes on this way. For now just keep mining, until fix is there. http://explorer.casinoco.in/chain/CasinoCoin

The first post of the ANN shows no more pics here and is not up to date. Maybe time to start a total new ANN later on when upgrade is done?? A total rebirth of this coin  Cool

Ill get a new post started up tonight! Well need the new thread anyways to be able to change the title ETC.
Cheers happy saturday/sunday

Hey buddy! There you go!

Added Digishield. Kicks in at block 445000.
Fixed Heartbleed and Time Warp vulnerabilities.
Only needs to add the checkpoints of the good fork I didn't want to mess that around!
Let's see CasinoCoin rise again!

https://github.com/casinocoin/casinocoin/tree/digishield-dev

Cheers!

Forgot all about the hearbleed thanks for the extra update,
Checkpoints of the good fork(care to explain a little more) from my understanding the checkpoints are hashes from blocks, but the new fork will have future blocks so how would we add these or am I thinking about it all wrong?

As well anyone who can compile windows or mac please contact me.

If you guys haven't checked out rotocoin then nows the time to!

the project becomes closed source so that no creeping eyes can exploit or change how we use the coin today

Why would one close-source the coin/wallet?
Casinocoin will never be closed source.
It will remain an open source project as it was always intended to be!
405  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSC] CasinoCoin - The Premiere Coin for Casino Gaming | Kimoto Enabled! on: May 17, 2014, 12:21:33 AM
KGW issue is the first thig at hand and we can fork to a new chain right after we implement the updates and then move onto other things in the future,

At this point is was the KGW exploit could have been caused by one or
More
Miners with sufficient power, only coins that are running KGW without updates are vulnerable.
As well the network hash was quite low so that made it more susceptible to attackers.
406  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSC] CasinoCoin - Pool Discussion. Updated 2/16/2014 on: May 16, 2014, 10:00:33 PM
Mining is live blockchain unfrozen!
407  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSC] CasinoCoin - The Premiere Coin for Casino Gaming | Kimoto Enabled! on: May 16, 2014, 09:18:47 PM
Ok perfect!! So next block obv wont be for the fork we will have to have it done sometime in the future.

@Cartman do you like the idea as it could be done before the next hardfork release of the wallet.

Glad to get things going again going to take casinocoincity out of maintenance mode awaiting on a reply for the code changes(digishield will be added)
408  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSC] CasinoCoin - The Premiere Coin for Casino Gaming | Kimoto Enabled! on: May 16, 2014, 08:22:02 PM
Thanks for mining guys ive got my little bit of hashpower going!

We have a member of the community going to make the required updates to our code (hoping today or the next)
At what block should we fork, im thinking the next one as the difficulty is very high and it's likely it will take 3+ days to find the next block.
OR we can do it sometime in the future a few hundred blocks down.

Hmm are you trying to solo mine currently?

As well I have no idea who locked the sub reddit but i started a new one here http://www.reddit.com/r/casinocoins/

What is everyones thought on merged mining as well?
Mine say ltc along side CSC. It incentives people to mine for both as CSC is a very big money maker for some, and could bring some new people into the picture who will hold and gamble with the coins.
409  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSC] CasinoCoin - The Premiere Coin for Casino Gaming | Kimoto Enabled! on: May 15, 2014, 11:33:24 PM
Well there is your problem you or no one wants to fix the bug
I've messaged 3 different persons who can and am waiting for a response from 2 and one is currently offline who has said he can add DGWv2.
If I could do it I would so enough with saying that. I did not create the coin transcoder did and he left. Im not a programmer.

It's not as simple as one may think, can add you to the git so you can make the code changes..

Ill even provide a 0.05 BTC bounty for the first person to make the changes @ the new GIT repo
410  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSC] CasinoCoin - The Premiere Coin for Casino Gaming | Kimoto Enabled! on: May 15, 2014, 11:19:38 PM
Staplez I will do the changes to the png files tomorrow!

I think we should all mine to get it going, but like Cartman said the next diff is pretty damn high.
If we release the new client with required updates more miners will come, It will force the block to be found and the chain to move on.
411  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSC] CasinoCoin - The Premiere Coin for Casino Gaming | Kimoto Enabled! on: May 15, 2014, 06:33:04 AM

Your a little ahead of yourself on this one.

We forked the code and have made 0 changes so far.
If i was a programmer/developer it would have been done the minute the chain froze or even before that, but id rather not mess anything up more then it already is.
To call it garbage is naive, but i guess ill respect your opinion.

Well sorry but I'm a little bit miffed here. If you have made zero changes why wont the client sync? To me that suggests a change HAS been made (by an elite few perhaps?)

As it stands, the client is borked

Need to understand that due to the KGW explot someone or the blockchain has forked itself into an unknown one.
Your coins are safe as long as you do not transfer them as it cannot be recorded.

Yes you are right the client is borked because the blockchain is Frozen

When we release the new wallet we will let everyone know ahead of time so there is ample time to update at this moment the only thing you can do is trade on an exchange where you already have coins but cannot move them out to another wallet(exchanges do not host a wallet for each account as per my perception)

Gold:

It probably says that because GitHib forked it to mine when I changed the word in ReadMe.  I'm not hosting the legit repo.

Casino:

Yeah, it's all the same qmake/make process and options, I just figure that, if this is someone's first coin especially, more documentation is better (as long as it's good and legit documentation).

I'm thinking we coordinate a release with:

1.) new website
2.) new repo with a generic name maybe version number
3.) a couple press releases - I can talk to some guys I know
4.) new prebuilt wallets
5.) wallets given to participating exchanges in preparation for the switch

Also, I'm thinking maybe we give a solid weeks notice to get the word out there that a mandatory update is coming.

Ive got the website we can use casinocoin.org or any of the foundation ones i own ie casinocoinfoundation.com .org etc
As well have the github.com/casinocoin/casinocoin but I agree we should create a new version number maybe starting with 2.0 and moving up from there with future updates

Some PR would be great, as well we will have the wallets available for download and them sent to the required sites(exchanges, explorers, games, pools if needed.)
A week is more then enough time I think as well especially if we are reaching out to them to update.

Getting late here if anyone else wants write access to the repo message me or post pls

Client won't syn since the fork even with nodes. Giving up on this - was junk from the beginning.

Guys, before we release the forked code to the community. Let's test the code privately among a few members and prepare all the wallets. I would also suggest using a github repo called casinocoin2.0 or something similar other than kruug. If possible can you guys remove the github links until we have tested out a stable client for a day or so?

Also, lets make sure we have a github repo that at least 2-3 trusted people have admin access to so we don't end up in this situation again.
Good call I removed the links, and should have mentioned somewhere that it hasn't been updated, but if you view the repo it does say **please bear with us as we update the code**
413  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSC] CasinoCoin - The Premiere Coin for Casino Gaming | Kimoto Enabled! on: May 15, 2014, 05:11:48 AM
Any documentation for the casinocoin source? or for the c++ code?
Theres both as casinocoin is derived from litecoin/bitcoin and is written in c++ (well documentated)
ill be in the irc later :-)

There is the lack of qmake/make instructions in the ReadMe to assist users building from source.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I everything in terms of compiling ya "make" is the same as bitcoin or litecoin, ex http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/18255/how-to-compile-bitcoin-qt-from-github-source-on-arch-linux

As you bring this up it could be a good idea for us to include these instructions for casinocoin on the source like you mentioned.

Hey guys, I'm not much of a coder, but this has been pretty interesting/educational to watch Smiley

I was wondering, though, if there was any documentation needed or anything like that.  I'm trying to get into OSS development, and I've read that documentation is one of the best ways to get in.  Let me know!

I also usually hang out on IRC a lot, so I'll be in #casinocoin on FreeNode.

IRC nick: kruug
GitHub: https://github.com/kruug
Any documentation for the casinocoin source? or for the c++ code?

I have setup the entire stack for windows C++ compiling with Mingw and  MSys (i have written a ANPR application using OpenCV with that). I installed the Qt stack and tried today to compile the windows wallet but did not succeed as of yet. I managed to compile the following dependencies:
- boost_1_55_0
- db-4.8.30.NC
- libpng-1.6.10
- miniupnpc-1.9
- openssl-1.0.1g
- pkg-config-0.28
- qrencode-3.4.3
- zlib-1.2.8

Now compiling the Qt windows wallet i am stuck at the libleveldb.a library, so i still need to resolve that. I will continue tommorrow and i am confident i have the windows wallet compiled this week. Will let you all now when done, than we have to implement the fix, fork the coin and have everybody move over to the new fork. People will not lose their coins that way! Only transactions after the last block on the old chain will be lost, .. the new block chain will be the truth.

Andre
Alright thanks so much for the info and work on getting everything ready to compile, I have added you to the GIT and can make any changes as required.
We should get an irc chat going so we can all talk and coordinate what's going on!

It will take some time to get everyone on board, but im confident the main pools, cryptsy, litebit, c-cex etc will be with us.

Whats your guys usernames on GIT, :
anyone who is interested in developing please post!
All code must be commented and any major changes must be discussed with the other developers before implemented.
Besides the obvious removal of KGW and addition of digishield of darkgravity.

As well does anyone know who had created the original Reddit thread as its now locked.
417  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSC] CasinoCoin - The Premiere Coin for Casino Gaming | Kimoto Enabled! on: May 14, 2014, 06:11:22 PM
I can try compiling for Windows from the github source. Have successfully compiled Lightcoin before but it's been a while.

Alright sweet, just taking a look at the code now KGW is implemented in the main.cpp under lines 1215-1290

Am I correct here Tongue?

As well ive got microsoft visual studio c++ 2010 can things be compiled through here I believe I went through a tutorial that did this but it was long ago.
418  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSC] CasinoCoin - The Premiere Coin for Casino Gaming | Kimoto Enabled! on: May 14, 2014, 05:47:18 PM
I would just like to take a moment to thank "casinocoin" for his efforts and dedication to this coin. Without him I think we would be looking at a dead coin.
Cheers, and
Thankyou, it's been a wild ride but I don't plan on going anywhere soon!

The last thing I want to see is something not only myself, but others have put a lot of time into just fade away when it has potential to be something.
Going to make some changes to the code and post them here later, unfortunately I have no idea how to compile c++ anyone want to help here?
Like this correct: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1154517/c-compiler-for-windows ?
Or if anyone has the skills to do this quickly and efficiently let me know!
We will also need the mac wallet to be compiled(i can prob do this, but had some troubles last time on mavericks)

Got to say it's nice to see such commitment from the devs after seeing so many scam coins fade away.

CasinoCoin is going.. Nowhere but up! Glad your still along for the ride as well, sorry I couldn't get to purchasing any coins.

BTW, if we're going to fork the code, anyone have any other changes that people feel they would want? Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing a better scheme for reducing the block reward. 1/2 every 3 years is a bit nuts. I'd almost like to see this decrease less and more frequently. ANybody want to weigh in?

Also, maybe consider adding an incremental delay based on time that introduces delays into communications with a client that has an older version number. Overtime, this could push older clients out of the network pretty effectively without completely dropping them.
before we push the new source these will be some things we talk about, what would a good value be for the reduce of block reward in your opinion?
Have you seen this done with any coins, it's very interesting and would be a great feature to eventually force people to update and get rid of the old clients

I'm not sure if that fix actually works. Supposedly Potcoin implemented it and still got attacked with the same timewarp deal.

Some have said to look into Digishield but I don't know how good that is.
I'll do some research before changing any code as don't want to waste time, have you seen the darkcoin implementation? I'd love for you to help along with the transition as you've been here before me and know what's goin on better then I do!

Have a look at Orbitcoin's implementation, seems to function as it should without problems.

https://github.com/ghostlander/Orbitcoin/blob/1e417b40a65dc316037855b1d3db3b32165c80db/src/main.cpp#L1157

Darkcoin's insertion here;

https://github.com/dx11/darkcoin/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L1273
It looks as if digicoin, orbitcoin, or darkcoins implementation could all be used.
Should we have a quick vote on which route wed like to take.

As cartman mentioned I think digishield should be an easy but very effective update,
Is there any other features persons would like to see with the wallet/client?
