401  Economy / Speculation / Re: Poll :: Which star sign likes BTC most/least on: January 15, 2012, 09:56:00 PM
I've got a poll for you. 'Stupidest poll on bitcointalk.org'

 You won!
402  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [Dailybitcoins.org] Bitcoin faucet, sponsored by ads on: January 05, 2012, 07:04:32 PM
Advertisers beware... This site is pretty much a scam for you. The site makes you pay for ad's but the people who come to this site just click your ad's in hopes that they will win more BTC from the faucet then normal. The conversion rate of these clicks to sales is pretty much 0% as the people who frequent this site are looking for free Bitcoins, not to spend bitcoins.

403  Economy / Services / Re: Announcing....BitVPS! Premium VPS / Dedicated Servers for Bitcoins! on: January 05, 2012, 07:02:14 PM
Hi guys!

rg here, the admin of BitVPS. I wanted to let you guys know we have a shell server aswell as virtual servers; for people who want something to IRC from besides their home connection but dont really need a full virtual/dedicated server. It's just 1 BTC, has IPv6 and less than 15ms latency to hubbard.freenode.net.

Right now my test IRC client has been connected for 340 hours .. Pretty stable.

Also with the current rate of BTC->USD our quadcore offering is extremely cheap. only 22 btc/mo!

I still don't understand why there's 620 BTC in your personal wallet where as the other half remains in this other wallet? Why wouldn't you just move it all? This doesnt make any sense.

Ryland,

I suggest you read the documentation better as creating and managing multiple wallets is extremely simple.

^-- Donation address. 620 BTC sent. To where? Good question James.....

Forum owner? answers?

Why do you care? If you are worried, don't donate. I am sure no one will take offense...or do you just have the overwhelming compulsion to be the world's bookkeeper?

More aptly. Why *don't* you care?

Here is some food for thought:
Enron misappropriates billions of dollars but I'm not a share holder.. Why do I care?

You're one of the developers slash power users and you didn't think of it? Theymos, i like you personally but even you must know this stinks of shit.

If you'd like to squash this all right now... can you show us the data? the logs you're keeping to seperate funds and addresses?

Please prove me wrong.

P.S. cheers on a quick reply

Matthew N. Wright,

Do you IRC on Freenode in #bitcoin-otc? If so, what is your nickname?

All im saying, guys, is dont claim to be a non profit when you're not a non profit.

Also you all assume I havent donated. Well have you ever considered that I did donate and didnt give my name or tell where it was from because im not some type of douche bag who donates to be listed on the donation page?

Flame away.

417  Other / Beginners & Help / Bitcointalk requesting donations? Wtf? on: December 31, 2011, 08:24:03 PM
Hello noobs,

According to Bitcointalk's donation page they've pulled in roughly ~620BTC from donations alone. On this same page it states that they recieve free hosting and the donations go to 'development of the forum'. I dont know about you guys but I dont see anything on this forum thats not on every other single forum that runs this software.. So if they're a non-profit I'd really like to see the paperwork on that because they have to account for all donations and report it to future donors. Also, If you've ever run an advertisement on Bitcointalk you know how expensive it is.

I'm just wondering where all this money goes? If your costs are $0 .. and you've taken in atleast $1k in donations .. and there have been no improvements on the forum .. How is that a non profit?
I think we should stop donating until we get these answers.. Is this forum really that great? 30% of it is flame wars and trolling. A wise man once said on IRC 'The forums are full of cancer and scammers'.

Cordially Yours,
James L (rg @ freenode)

Greetings,

I'm rg. I'm the system administrator at btcvps.net and a part owner. I just wanted to go ahead and introduce myself to the forum even though most of you probably already know me from my company and #bitcoin-otc on freenode...
