Oh sorry, I thought you are talking about size of the image but not the file size.

Imgur converts large gif to MP4 files if I'm not mistaken, so actually you are posting not gif but mp4 format. That's why it is blocked.

Test, it's a temporary link of the converted file, it will expire in a few hours:

I saw that the "I'm Under Attack Mode" was on, for the first time in last few months so I guess there something going on, probably DDoS attack. It's not only the internal problem with the merit statics as theymos said :
There was a query in the merit stats which became too slow and ended up jamming up the whole database. Possibly it was pushed over the edge by new bot activity, but no intentional DoS attack AFAICT. Or maybe my fix from yesterday's unrelated database issue degraded performance. I'll look into it more later. In any case, I think I fixed it for now.

We will find out soon, maybe...

Don't want to discourage anybody here from reporting but this is how things stand at the moment

This is true, I takes quite some time to get the ANN threads locked/trashed and sometime they don't do anything with weeks .
I also wait to hear/read the theymos's decision on the case with reporting if any at all.
In the mean time I do search for abusers /ANNs,plagiarism, alts enrolling in same campaigns mostly/, but I'm not so effective as before coz a lot to do IRL.
The club will still run as till now.

I'll be happy if I can gather more info there with your help. If you see a valuable info that can fit into my list, drop a comment here so I'll add it Smiley

What's wrong with asking what courses to do or how to learn blockchain and thank you for sharing how to embed an image. Yes, I do lack initiative but that doesn't mean i will never become good at it and yes, You can talk your mind but there has to be some consequences a person has to face if he talks shit.

Here's another tip > Don't quote the whole long posts, be on the save side and read the rules man. Just replace the irrelevant part or the whole text of the quote with something like this >

Code:
 ~ or -snip-

Regarding where and how to learn about blockchain and bitcoin, there are many resources in the forum, I know it's not easy to use the search engine here but you have to try.
Here is what I have posted some time ago.. hope it helps. I like to see people hungry for knowledge >

Regarding the existing online courses I can suggest EDX1 as a platform.
Just to add here that edx is free2 platform for online education and certification provided by the world leading universities and organisations like MIT, Boston university, Linux Foundation etc.
Most of the courses are free, you pay only for certificate /world wide accepted/ if you want one.

Course: Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies
Institution: University of California, Berkeley

Learn the fundamentals of Bitcoin and the Cryptocurrency space, including the basics of smart contracts, the Ethereum platform and how to build decentralized applications.

Course: Blockchain: Understanding Its Uses and Implications
Institution:The Linux Foundation

Understand the design rationale of blockchain technology, its emerging platforms and applications and uncover the limitations and the opportunities enabled by blockchain applications, particularly as it relates to finance.

1 I do not advertise the mentioned above website, I just want to share my experience with you. If you feel that is not acceptable,I'll just delete my post.

2 With "free" I mean you have access almost all the courses and at the end you can decide by yourself if you want to pay for certificate or not. There are some professional courses where you have to pay to enroll like this one, but still it is a good opportunity.
4127  Other / Meta / Re: Is Bitcoin Talk's love affair with shitcoins over? on: August 16, 2018, 10:05:42 AM
If you follow the rule you don't loose until you sell, big part of the shiposters will turn in HODLers with the dream to the moon one day /or at least recover/.
At least this is what happen around Jan. when the big drop came. I stared trading just before that time /really unfortunate time to start trading but luckily enough it was only small amount I was actually prepared to risk/ and many I had contact with decided to wait for a better times / if you can afford it of course/
There are ups and downs all the time so, nothing new here. The market will recover again and the alts will rise/some will be gone hopefully/.
I really doubt that this will affect the post quality in the forum, the reporting will do tho Smiley

Let me help. Lock the other thread in Bitcoin discussion board, lower left corner you gonna find a link to lock it.
You gonna find also a link to move the thread next to the lock option. Use it next time instead of creating two similar threads. Smiley

You can move your accusation post to the proper thread Mod, please check new plagiarism: Reporting copy/pasting, please permban

There is more exposure of such accusation as the Mods are checking it more often. Here we just list eventual shiposters/spammes/bots for manual review and report.
4130  Other / Meta / Re: Mod, please check new plagiarism: Reporting copy/pasting, please permban on: August 16, 2018, 08:32:09 AM
Can anyone find the source for this?

I can't believe a Newbie went to the trouble of writing this essay but I can't get anything other than the first paragraph in Google cache from a deleted post.

~

Did you check his post history? There are quite long posts for a newbie, but nothing comes out while searching for random sentences. There's a small chance to be a actually legit member punting some effort, but check the time between posts,he just sits and writes for 8 min something that I would need at least 30 min. Maybe we have to keep an eye on the guy for a while.

I think this is not the right section for it.
Why don't you move it to Bitcoin Forum > Bitcoin > Project Development
It's a better place to advertise your project.
4132  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Discussion]How to decentralize the price of the bitcoin? Self-moderated. on: August 16, 2018, 07:20:28 AM
Why would someone pay more for a btc than the exchange price?

Why the centralized exchange price has to be determinant for the overall price of the bitcoin?
If you want an non-speculative price then ALL the deals have to go trough exchange which cannot really happen here because people will most likely trade p2p as that's the idea behind the bitcoin, not trough 3rd party + paying extra fees and the KYC s#it.
Same with the banks, they try to push you so most of your deals/trades to be online and "traceable" and do not encourage the use of paper banknotes anymore. You have a limit in withdrawing paper money. In Sweden for example they plan to remove the paper-notes at all, so no shady deals can be done using the Swedish krone without being questioned.

So really we do not know the real Supply/Demand situation, only what is seen on the exchanges. It's kind of a bottleneck if you relay only on the exchanges. We can check the transaction in the blocks to determine approximate movements but this is not exact as people move funds from one wallet to another + soon the LN will move part of the flow off the chain.

As we have seen in the past, some exchange scam schemes can really affect the price, why? As the bitcoin itself is secure enough we based the price on the perception of security on the 3rd parties as they are the weakest link.
I still think that the bitcoin is supposed to be decentralized and the same thing with the forming of the price, that's the only way to the wide acceptance and world financial dominance.

I just want to thank you and DomingoX6 for the loyalty and the professionalism. Even though there were certain rules, you changed them so that the participant who left early could get a reward for their work. Not many people will do it and I really appreciate what you two have done.
Thank you again and I wish good luck to PlayBitcoinGames.com
It was a pleasure being part of your campaign.

Done with this. I am quite somewhat slow with reporting. So please bear with my reporting speed. Should I need to report those accounts which haven't logged in for more than 10 days? Also should I need to report the Proof of Authentication shitposts? I have been mostly reporting the threads with huge Good project spams and users with only Good Project as their posts. Most of them are banned and the threads are being trashed. But is it really needed to report Proof of Authentication spams? It's been already a huge work for the mods and they can't handle tons of reports bumping up daily. Should we really need to overload them along with this Proof of Authentication reports? With theymos announcing the reporter badges, lots of new reporters has emerged from nowhere and overloading mods to wear that useless badge. With such huge number of reports coming up daily, theymos should additionally add at least 2-3 mods for the Alts section alone.

@iasenko/LoyceV would like to hear from you whether what should be reported and what not!

User: Heisenberg_Hunter
Case: ULTRIX COIN PLATFORM
From/to: 501-551
Status: Will start working by tomorrow Tongue

Have I reserved the right ranges or it has been completed by someone? I haven't seen someone taking up after #500

No problem to report accounts that haven't been online for some time, often the accounts are kept for a later use.
Proof of Authentication you can report too, I do for the threads where "join confirmation" is not needed. Don't worry about the mods, that's what they are here for and if they are not enough, I guess there will be no problem for theymos to hire more - like the case with Welsh.

I don't think anyone is working yet on the Ultrix project so you can reserve the accounts. Take your time, no need to hurry Wink

@Lofu, it really matter which moderator is handling the case, I've reported many cases, just a few got handled and on one of them theymos himself banned the OP and removed the ANN as this case was open for a few days without reaction.
Which reminds me that I have to check the other cases again and bump them
4135  Other / Meta / Re: [Survey] Who has who on its Ignore List? (Second try) on: August 15, 2018, 07:30:03 PM
I stated researching some time ago the public ignore lists and I wanted to make a database but.. had no time to complete it.
If you are really curious you can check here :
[<list>Ignore list database, add yours if you want. Experimental thread.
My list is empty as I don't worry about spam and I want to hear/read what everyone has to say (and often report it)
4136  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just need a help! on: August 15, 2018, 05:10:23 PM
You are one of many trying to find the answer but let me give you an advice. Go to the search engine and write Merit, mark the option to search in the subject only and arrange the results by the latest first.

You will find many threads and probably the right formula for you.

Keep in mind that merit itself has no value If you are breaking some of the rules here and get tagged or banned. Read the rules and the sticky threads in this section.

I am Still on this Bot Spam Thread!  KRIOS - INITIAL TOKEN OFFERING IS LIVE! www.krios.io
Hope a Mod or Admin nuke it or trash it soon!

Have you reported the thread itself? I report them directly and/or open a separate case in Meta,
Example : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4828861.msg43570794#msg43570794
4138  Other / Meta / Re: Poll option on: August 15, 2018, 02:07:59 PM
I have tested that mark unread but it just make the topic unread, but I also take a bit look at the topic's I've created before and see this.

So basically it is right that you can add poll on the topic's you already created before, but you cannot add poll on the thread's you dont own.

FTFY
Embed the url to the image file not the shorten link from imgur and it will be fine
Code:
[img]https://i.imgur.com/xFvhdHF.png[/img]

Regarding the polls there should be an option to delete a poll too.
4139  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Please Suggest Do & don'ts For Newbie on: August 15, 2018, 01:31:31 PM
So where should I go for newbies? Are there any rules for newbies in this forum?

Did you read the whole thread?? There are just a few comments here so it's not so difficult. The answer of your question is lying there Smiley
Lear to read/search before you post.

I hope that the OP can lock this thread to avoid turning it into a signature-spamming pithole as often happens now in the B&H section.
