4161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: On most altcoins disappearing on: January 29, 2020, 11:25:25 PM
In the same vein it is natural to assume that the death of the altcoin world would eventually do only good to Bitcoin in the long run as people won't be losing money anymore. So what d'ya think?

This would depend on whether the cause on which most altcoins disappeared has something to do with the market or prohibitions caused by third-parties (e.g. government, etc.).

If the cause of disappearance has something to do with a prohibition executed by counties in disallowing the utilization of alternate coins in general, then expect that this may also affect bitcoin negatively.

On the other hand, if the cause of disappearance of altcoins has something to do with the shift of the investor's interest in the market and they are leaning towards investing MORE in bitcoin, then this may affect bitcoin in its price positively. This would entirely depend on the reason on why altcoins are slowly dying on the market.
4162  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Anyone here dream of achieving their financial goal in life through gambling? on: January 29, 2020, 10:51:24 PM
For people who does not have enough income to live a comfortable life, we try to find ways to end the struggle, we take big risk to gain big rewards so if we will be successful, we don't need to work anymore and just enjoy the rest of our life doing the things that we can't do due to lack of money.

are you one of the people who dream like this?

To answer your question, no.

When it comes to dreaming big, I always aim to achieve the highest possible scenario that I could possibly attain regardless on how much income I earn. Although there may be ways in order to receive a significant amount of cash in a relatively faster time (via gambling), it's just not worth to risk. Having limited resources makes you feel that every dime counts in saving/losing money.

Controlling emotions and imagination is not easy in gambling, I once imagined that if I succeeded in the jackpot then I would buy a car, motorcycle or other. This makes me even more excited to gamble and the negative side effects that arise when I cant control it are the more money I spend on betting without even realizing it.
Yeah, I think everyone of us already do that thing , we believe that when we gambled, we will become rich and our financial status would be stable, but are not aware in the fact that time that when we gamble we need to take the risk and we cannot avoid losing money , the only thing we can do is to have a proper money management do not rely your status or goal in gambling.

There is always that feeling of hope whenever someone wins in gambling. The endless cycle starts when a person wins in gambling and he thinks over and over again that he may win again IF he stays and gambles. This would either make or break his career since every loss will actually let him think that he can recover it by gambling again his resources.

4164  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How often do you gamble? on: January 29, 2020, 02:41:06 AM
Are you gambling everyday?
twice a week?
once in a never again?

if you gamble everyday, can you stop whenever you want or are you fully addicted?

would love to hear more on your habits here on the forum.

Back in 2015, I had a phase where I would gamble every weekends together with my brother. We both experienced wins and losses but I considered everything worth it due to the fact that we bonded as brothers. Currently, I already stopped gambling as it took a toll in my savings but I definitely felt the loss of resources at that time.

People who gamble everyday may suffer chronic addiction which can be destructive in the long-run given its effects to the individual and to his future. If he/she cannot simply put an end to this, he may require support and help from his peers or from his family members. Remember that curing addiction is not an overnight process as this will require patience and effort from both your parents and to yourself as well.

4166  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What did you learn as a gambler? on: January 02, 2020, 03:59:54 PM
You probably heard the negative sides of gambling, some people who dont gamble has this bad impression towards it and we cant blame them for thinking that way because of the bad affect of gambling to a person who dont have control and let himself became addicted.

Now what did you realize or learn as a gambler (regardless if you became an addicted or not) that you can share to others?

As a former addicted gambler I realized that gambling is not the answer if you're desperate to grow your money and should not be our last resort in times like this because there's other way that can be the solution to our problem when it comes to money.

I would categorize my learnings throughout my gambling experience into two (2) categories, namely: Personal and Social aspect.

For the first category, my personal life has been continuously improving especially with my relationship to my family. Ever since I moved on from my gambling addiction, I always make it a point to overcompensate to the people that I have affected throughout my stay. I try my best to support my family members in both financial and in the spritual aspect.

On the social aspect, my relationship with my peers have been better ever since I got out from my addiction. I also managed to save up some cash in order to start my own business soon.
4167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are so few women buying into Bitcoin? on: December 11, 2019, 08:59:20 AM
It amazes me the number of men in crypto but women not so much.
When I talk to my girlfriend or female friends I feel like they don't care about it or I am crazy lol. I offered 3 of my female friends 10 dollars worth of Bitcoin via Coinbase to see if they will be interested.  I helped download the app, set up two-factor authentication and some other basic stuff. After a couple of months, they even don't recall how to access their wallets. I am very disappointed lol. Can someone explain to me why women are not interested in crypto?

Maybe the answer to this question is not entirely due to the gender but on the interests of either the male or the female sex.

Generally, men are inclined in experimenting PC related technology and women tend to focus more on beauty or fashion (notwithstanding female investors). There are also factors that you have to consider like the environment where the person grew-up, the friends/peers that they are with, and their financial capability of investing into such. Gender is not the problem but the interests is what divides these gender into their respective roles.
4168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have there been any money laundering schemes that used cryptocurrency? on: December 04, 2019, 03:19:05 AM
<snip...>

One of the most famous websites back in the days was Silk Road, where large exchanges and transactions were done anonymously in the website via purchasing services/products. In this way, most people have laundered money all over the world without the need of paying taxes. Not to mention, the website is full of products (e.g. drugs, drug equipments, etc.) and the FBI had seized around 28,000 BTCs at the website.

Just to add, this is one of the reasons on why some countries are hesitant to legalize bitcoin transactions due to its anonymity factor which could lead to a proliferation of drug abuses and transactions.
4169  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Are Women Slowly Leaning On To Crypto Trade? on: November 27, 2019, 09:21:38 AM
Well, that's actually the research show and not just on trading but in fact into crypto itself. Men are more into technology and investment while women are more focus on their respective careers. However, they are great on handling money and just invest on what they think it's best.

Trading not have know with your gender male or female,
It is and as long as you profited good, it doesn't matter. It's just that men are more keen on details in graph and can think more logically. Don't get me wrong on this, I'm also into gender equality.
I think it is hard to say that. I knew some women who are into with cryptocurrency more than some of my guy friends. I think it is more than just the gender if you think about it. It just so happened that the number of males who are into with technology especially some nerdy stuff than female though it is a matter of what the person's interests are. It all comes down to their environment and how open minded they are in accepting this new kind of way to earn by trading.

I also don't think that gender is a big issue in terms of cryptocurrency trading. There are male and female traders. It will not be equal because it is impossible to have equal male and female traders. The more important point is that there is no gender bias nor gender exclusion. There is nothing that says cryptocurrency trading is only for the males or the females and that the opposite sex is not allowed in the business.

This is true. I do not see the reason on highlighting the issue about women learning about cryptocurrency trading. Gender equality means access to all rights equally with the gender being immaterial in all sense. It does not mean that if the subject is technical (aka CRYPTOCURRENCIES) it is only limited to men who are inclined on this field. Women are slowly evolving and adhering toward the things that men can initially do.

Again, every individual needs a form of an alternative investment especially if there are needs/obligations that they need to meet consistently. Given that there are lots of single mothers who have the sole responsibility of rearing their children, it is a no-brainer that they would explore the means of earning additional income.

<snip...>

4171  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why are you gambling? on: November 26, 2019, 11:03:58 PM
I am actually relieved when I saw the results that majority of the players that gamble find it enjoyable and fun at the same time. Unfortunately, when you hope to win in gambling, it creates this illusion that superficially, you may admit that you are not addicted but you do enjoy the thought of winning, which would then cascade into addiction soon thereafter.

I think, buying Crypto is like gambling ?
Not not really because you intention to buy is to invest not to gamble.

There's a big difference on the gambler's side as they are buying crypto using it as a tool to gamble while investors are hoping for the increase of value so they can sell at a profit, though bought you gamble with the risk, but they are completely different.

When you purchase cryptocurrency, there are risks involve. Unlike in gambling, everything revolves around the odds of winning and there is no other way that you can at least limit the chances of losing. Investing is a whole risk but there are a plethora of ways in order to minimize your losses and maximize your winnings at the same time.
4172  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this a sign of the next Bitcoin bull run? Or just another bull trap? on: November 26, 2019, 10:18:07 PM
Contrary to most people that think about the decrease on its price, people should take into consideration the opportunities that it provide in the long-run.

Just to give a concrete example, the price of bitcoin has been steadily increasing over the past few years with some major increase/decrease but the trend is always on the increasing side. Even if the price dropped to around $7,200, the price would increase in the next few weeks or months. This is always been the case and I am only using the history of its price to back this contention!

Again, if there were accurate signs to predict the next price of bitcoin, then everyone would be rich by now. No one can accurately predict what would happen next but always take the negative side in to your advantage.
4173  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does cryptocurrency mining produce more pollution? on: November 26, 2019, 09:36:02 PM
<snip..>

Oh definitely! The reason on why most cryptocurrency miners choose a designated location for their mining is due to the amount of energy used during the entire process. Countries who have a tropical climate are at a disadvantage, as the amount of energy would increase thus more cost in during the process of mining.
The pollution it creates not only contribute to the climate but also to the aggregate pollution as well.

This is also the reason on why most equipment in the mining have been thrown-out and rarely do you see them recycle by other users and miners.

4175  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to learn bitcoin trading? on: November 20, 2019, 10:04:02 PM
I have invested in bitcoin, and i would like to learn about trading bitcoin to hopefully maximize both my current and future investments.

Since i am completely new to the world of crypto i would appreciate it if more knowledgable people have any good resources or tips to share. Both for (hopefully) profiting from trading, and for practical tips on how to reduce fees, maximize security in a practical manner and anything else that is necessary and/or helpful in my quest to accumulate bitcoin.

The best way in order to learn about trading is through experience alone. Even if you read tons of guides, information, and tips about trading, nothing is better than personally experiencing it on the market. You can do this by starting a capital that is low and watch videos on how you could start trading.

As for my experience, I highly recommend that you do trading in intervals and not on day-trading as it would require more experience, time, and skill.

One tip that will rule them all is
Explore this forum as much as possible

This will not only clear all your doubts will also provide you additional information on various things.
You will be encouraged to discuss on various topics which will improve your overall knowledge about crypto and blockchain.
This forum is full of useful advice about how to trade the markets the only issue is that the information is not condensed like it would be in a book, so you will need to read a lot before you find the information that you want to obtain, so it is better to complement the forum with a good book or if you do not like to learn from books you could learn from YouTube tutorials which make a good job teaching you the basics about how to become a professional trader.

Learning something can be compared to driving. No matter how many books you read or videos you watch, you will never truly learn until you personally experience it. Same goes with trading that actual experience would definitely support in starting into trading.
4176  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People are underutilizing Bitcoin on: November 20, 2019, 07:37:40 PM
I am afraid that the "value" will weak and investor interest then disappears ,trade will be quiet because all traders using the method hodl too ,I think contributions trade sector will make the "value" become a high as now ,looking for value with a hodl might be a good but if everyone hodl then who will sell bitcoin and vice versa? resources not all have high and equal income so we are struggling to find that value as traders

The system behind the price of bitcoin depends upon the value that the investors are willing to purchase such. People have been considering it as a good store-of-value but if we treat it entirely as a means of exchange then the value might really decrease in the long-run.

Like what most people have mentioned, an investment is an investment that is meant to be kept for long-term (or short-term depending on the need to use it).

As of right now people are using Bitcoin as a placeholder for things like gold, silver, ect. I don't think bitcoin has the framework to be used in day to day transactions. You look at Visa which processes millions of transactions a day and  compare it to Bitcoin. The network can't handle that amount of volume, especially when factoring confirmation times. I don't think people are under utilizing BTC. It's a matter of the fact that BTC can't handle the load.

One of the reasons on why people use it for transactions is because of its decentralized nature on which the government cannot track down the transactions. Its inherent nature becomes incidental to the usage of people using it for day-to-day transactions.
4177  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Have You Paid Tax On Bitcoin? on: November 20, 2019, 05:33:34 PM
What is your country's policy on taxation on cryptocurrency? Secondly, have you used Bitcoin ATM before? I heard about Bitcoin ATM when they installed them at the Melbourne airport. Please share your experience on BTC ATM and taxation. https://www.cryptoinfowatch.com/irs-looking-at-tax-issues-linked-with-bitcoin/

According to my colleague who interviewed the lawyer in Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (Central Bank), bitcoin proceeds should be categorized as 'other income' as stated in our laws and should reflect on our taxes. This should be limited to BTCs earned during mining or investing but this rule has been leniently enforced as I have never seen anyone paid taxes due to earning BTCs.

The only problem that I saw in the country revolves around a direct deposit of our earnings in BTC to the bank as they will question the origin of such. If you tell them that it came from your investments in BTCs, they would doubt the origin and potentially question the said amount.
4178  Economy / Economics / Re: BEEN IN THIS GAME FOR 6 YEARS on: November 20, 2019, 02:08:09 PM
....

I would tell family and friends and got  a response like I will wait till it comes down.  If those people listened 1 year later would have profited well. Now I tell friends  .1 BTC  I  think for many that is attainable, now the response is did bitcoin not crash. My point is that I think if we educate fundamentals which is tough we might win some hearts.

Just to share my personal experience, I entered the cryptocurrency world back in 2017 where the price of each bitcoin were around $4,000-$4,500 fluctuating. I used to participate in campaign signatures that for a Jr. member, the payouts were like 0.004 BTCs/week (around $5 before converted). Many people have been speculating that the price may skyrocket within the year.

Around 2018 when the price of BTCs reached an all-time high of around $19,000, people assumed that its price would continue to increase and they started purchasing more for long-term investments. Unfortunately after a few weeks, its price dropped considerably and the people who JUST STARTED investing into BTCs branded it as a whole "bubble" and "scam" scheme.

4179  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think that governments might one day ban Cryptos? on: November 20, 2019, 11:56:53 AM
Considering that the governments such as China have already tried to ban Cryptos. Would more governments do the same because Cryptos threaten the banks or the governments may want more control over what people use as currency and to remove all alternatives? What do you guys think, I personally think it won’t happen, but you might think otherwise.

Yes and no.

Like these factors, we always have to consider the worst possible scenario that could happen in cryptocurrencies. The government may actually prohibit the usage of such in the future but no one can really know. All that we can infer is that its decentralization is one of the main factor on why the government fears its utilization since they cannot control nor regulate its transcations due to being untraceable.

Probably some government but not all. Because not all governments would agree to crypto, especially bitcoin who is decentralized. Those governments who see bitcoin and crypto as a threat or as a hindrance for them in ruling their people financially. It depends on the government's stand about crypto. Those countries are likely to be the one who doesn't give much financial freedom to their citizens. Right now, some countries have already put some regulations with crypto

I also think that one of the reasons on why the government has not considered on totally prohibiting cryptocurrencies is its benefit to the economy. More money is always good for the country albeit the origin may came from an unregulated source.
4180  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Social experiments in the world of gambling on: November 20, 2019, 07:36:35 AM
If someone bet and he suffers a big loss and then goes here to ask a little help from you, are you willing to give him help?
Have you ever experienced something like that, how do you deal with this loss?

Yes but the help/support that I will be giving is limited to advice, and not monetary support.

Most persons that I know always ask for support/help whenever they feel like they already succumbed to addiction and gambling. Advising them what to do despite them not listening at all would not stop me from extending my time and support to them.

Addiction is not something that could be resolved overnight. It is a series of steps and stages where a person undergoes for rehabilitation and goal-setting. You have to understand first their side before even judging them.
