As a newbie, I suggest you read about merit in some of the other threads that have been well made specially by staff or high-rank people to understand further. I won't explain more about the merits cause we all know there are many great explanations regarding this here. However, I probably want to share with you how we can actually search for the topics that we want to know in this forum. For example, merit. You can simply go to the "search" column in the home section and type the keyword that you want to search, or just click the "search" button beside the "help" button in the home section for advanced search features.  You can actually search it first before making a thread buddy cause I'm sure for this simple topic, there are many people who have discussed it here. Just my 2 cents, and enjoy your time in this forum buddy. |

right now i’m in debt for $6k but i want to keep DCA. should i focus more on pay my debt down or investing?
Hmm, I'm curious. where will you get the money for investing, buddy? is it from another loan? I don't think it's wise to try to close your first loan with another loan to invest. Moreover, the market is not in a good shape right now. Although, for those who still have spare money, I'll suggest they to adding their assets little by little from now. But you have a different case I think. I won't advise you to invest with loans, because the first rule of investing in the crypto world will be "invest as many as you afford to lose" and if you borrow money to invest, it means actually you're not ready to lose that funds when bad things happened. I'm afraid, the effect will be massive. |

beginners and scams are always some of my concerns. I don't want to bring my family into the crypto world cause I know how heavy the responsibility will be to encourage them to learn about this new world first. They are prone to scam trials. I don't want to feel responsible. Even if they want to jump in, I always warn them that crypto is not an easy way to get rich, it's complicated, and you need to be serious to learn it so you won't get trapped later.
I start to make videos about crypto on my youtube channel to share my experience with beginners and I always remind people to guard themselves in this cruel world. I'm also planning to make a video about many types of scams in the crypto world in the near future. Wish me luck.

As someone who already jumped into this field in 2017, I experienced some bear and bull markets. Probably this one is harsher because of different conditions. We've been punched hard by the pandemic and the war between Russia and Ukraine. The inflation makes sense happened after the pandemic when the government decided to pull the grant. The banks need people to keep their money there and to re-spin the economic wheel, that's why they increased the bank interest rate. It affects the investment world including stocks, gold, and crypto. I think everything will get better when the world finance temperature cools down. The crypto world will be hyped again when inflation gets down or some big positive news comes. Meanwhile, let's just observe from the edge, don't take drastic steps. Leave your investments for a while and take a deep breath, go outside and spend your time with your family. I think the market will rise again in the future, and your assets too, PS: you invest in well-known and established projects.

itu yang namanya "kalo rejeki ga kemana" ya bang, Alhamdulillah. Wah, ternyata kita seangkatan nih bang, saya juga mulai di tahun 2017-an tapi dari jalur yang berbeda hehehe. Saya tahu bitcoin dari youtube, terus mulai main aplikasi penghasil bitcoin yang receh. Cari lebih dalam tentang bitcoin, eh mulailah kenal crypto secara lebih luas. Dari sana mulai cari aplikasi lain penghasil crypto kayak ethereum, doge dll dan mulailah bikin video tentang crypto di youtube. Saya mulai dapat referral dari sana, tapi saya usahakan review app yang legit supaya ga kayak tetangga sebelah hehe. Sempat ikut airdrop dan bounty juga tapi ga terlalu serius. Saya juga nyicipin pundix itu bang hehe. Pernah berharap dari REBL, pas harganya sampe 60 juta-an ga dijual, malah saya simpen sampe jadi abu. Itu termasuk pengalaman pahit, tapi karena gratisan yasudah direlakan saja dan dijadikan pelajaran.
Nah, mulai ngerasain hasil yang paling manis itu pas tahu tentang raiblock. Saya tekunin faucetnya, dan simpen tokennya ga dijual-jual sampai pada suatu hari harganya mulai meroket. Alhamdulillah. Sempat vakum beberapa tahun, sampai akhirnya mulai terjun lagi di tahun 2020 ikut bounty dan airdrop lagi. Wah, ternyata dunia crypto sudah semakin banyak berubah. Perubahannya itu terhitung cepat sekali dan saya makin tertarik untuk mengikutinya, sekarang walau dunia per-airdrop dan bounty-an tidak sesemarak dulu, tapi saya yakin teknologi blockchain ini tetap potensial ke depannya jadi saya putuskan untuk tetap menekuninya.

While learning the theories from here, you'll bring to other sources by discussing with others and you can also learn it by doing based on the theories you've learned. For example, you can do trade, staking, swapping, and other necessary things to do to know more about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. You can start to trade and invest with little amounts to know how the crypto world going (including how to surf the market). Even airdrop and bounty will bring more comprehension to you.

for me, smart people are those who can explain a difficult topic in more simple and easy to understood sentences. It's more challenging really. However, I agree that a short explanation only, won't do a thing. The information should be dense and clear, so it could be delivered well. Sometimes an illustration is also needed cause I think it makes things become more interesting and our brain will process stories easier than some complicated words. Many great people can do great things for themselves, and only some of the great people can share and teach it to other people.

For me, gambling is to bet on something that is purely unknown, when you learn about something, and analyze the results based on the knowledge you gain, it's far from gambling. However, trading could be gambling too, if you don't know what you're doing. You're blindly buying and selling without any clue, hoping you'll always get profits counting on luck. That's why I prefer to see whether it's gambling or not based on how we reach the goal. To get some profits, what will you do, use some of your knowledge or blindly trade, that will make a difference.

People that look at Bitcoin as a way to make money are mostly missing the point of the technology, I think. Yeah, it's a good investment (especially at current prices) but more importantly than that, it's a means to financial autonomy, which is to be cherished as a principle far above ROI.
I agree people should change their paradigm of thoughts. We should really go back to the beginning of why cryptocurrency was existed. It's all about technology and innovation, not a way to get rich fast. People forgot the root of blockchain which actually not all about profits, it's life-changing from traditional and centralized to digital and decentralized. We need a more mature crypto industry, a new field for people to be able to invest in long term not always scared of scam trial or trash projects who just want to take profits in a short time from unknowledge people. It's been years, the crypto world should get fixed. We don't want to be seen as a pump and dump industry only, by people outside the bubble, do we?. |

My biggest mistake I think is how I can't control my emotion when trading. I'm not a daily trader. I frequently hold my assets for too long with the hope that dev will do their job and bring people to ATH, however, the fact is not always the same with hope. When I see a price surge down, I sell it because I feel angry and I feel that every time I sell it, minutes later the price then goes up and I am confused about whether should I re-buy or not leads to losses. My mind then engraved that I'm not good at trading and I will always be the victim first so the price could up.

I think generally people lose their interest because of first, the market condition that is generally down. So, actually, it's not only NFT but people lose interest in crypto in general. Second. because of the hype, so many people spamming the NFT market, OpenSea for example, with "useless" artworks which don't have any further utilities except decoration and a form of appreciation to the artists. However, big investors are still hoping apparently, that NFT will have real utilities in certain aspects of life like games, retail industries, etc so I also still have hope regarding the NFTS industry growth when the market condition restored

People are used to thinking that everything in the crypto world will make them rich and fast lol. It's still a win compared to traditional finance IMHO try to compare it with depositing in your bank account. What most important is the innovation I think. Let this technology mature by itself, there are still many un-legit projects that try to shove staking to our throat let us be wise about this. I think it's still good that you got profits instead of being scammed. It's stablecoin anyway, it won't give you any extreme volatility.

Betul sekali bang, bahkan sejak pertama nyemplung di dunia crypto, ini yang selalu diwanti-wanti oleh orang-orang yang sudah lebih dahulu terjun :
1. “invest only what you can afford to lose” alias selalu invest sejumlah uang yang memang siap untuk hilang, uang dingin bukan uang panas, bukan uang untuk kebutuhan dapur dan bukan uang pinjaman (seperti yang abang bahas di thread ini)
2. "don't put your eggs in one basket" alias jangan all in di satu project, kalau merugi maka bisa habislah uang kita di satu tempat itu.
dll, masih banyak lagi sebenarnya prinsip-prinsip yang harus kita pegang supaya bisa aman investasi di crypto.
Nah, prinsip-prinsip ini kemudian mempengaruhi bagaimana gaya dan strategi kita dalam trading. Menurut saya, semua newbie harus tahu ini dulu sebelum terjun ke dunia crypto supaya tidak hamsyong dan mengalami pengalaman buruk di awal karena pengalaman awal sangat penting. Pengalaman awal yang buruk bisa membuat orang bersemangat untuk memperbaiki ke depannya, tapi ada pula yang jadi putus asa bahkan memutuskan untuk mengakhiri hidupnya, hal inilah yang tidak kita inginkan dan harus dihindari sedari awal.

wah memang banyaaak sekali modus-modus yang digunakan scammer untuk menipu korbannya. Beberapa waktu yang lalu saya juga ketemu modus penipuan di jaringan stellar bang. Jadi, suatu hari di lobstr muncul transaksi pending (airdrop) dari Asce sekian ratus dollar tapi baru bisa di-claim Juli, saya kira legit ternyata beberapa hari kemudian ditarik lagi airdropnya terus berubah lagi tanggalnya eh terus berubah lagi baru November bisa di-klaim tapi anehnya kok harganya bisa tinggi. Ternyata itu memang modusnya, mereka menjaring korban sedemikian rupa untuk tertarik membeli karena sudah ada harganya dan pergerakan harganya pun tinggi. Airdrop itu pun rupanya usaha mereka juga supaya orang melihat dan tertarik membeli. Terbukti, akhirnya beberapa waktu kemudian harganya jadi 0. Setelah mereka anggap cukup scam-nya, akhirnya mereka jual semua token-nya dan kabur, alhasil harga jadi terjun bebas.
Nah, untuk menghindari penipuan seperti ini di Lobstr sebenarnya mudah, jangan pernah percaya pada airdrop dari proyek yang bisa dicolok cabut begitu contract-nya, yang kedua gunakan fitur "Convert payments to AQUA", karena kalaupun itu adalah transaksi pending, kalo bisa dikonversi (semua jumlah) ke AQUA berarti itu legit. Intinya tidak ada usaha mempersulit kita meng-klaim airdrop kalau itu memang airdrop legit. Kita ambil contoh airdrop AQUA kemarin yang berjalan amat smooth.

Klo menurutku yang pertama harus diterapkan adalah memahami dan menerapkan seluruh aturan yang ada di Forum ini (baik itu yang ada di CB Indonesia maupun Board global). Ibarat seperti kita bertamu ke rumah milik orang, maka kita harus mengikuti rules dari tuan rumah dan sebisa mungkin tidak melakukan sesuatu yang telah ditetapkan menjadi larangan. setuju sekali bang, saya pikir kepatuhan terhadap peraturan di bitcointalk baik yang tertulis maupun yang tidak tertulis itu sangat amat penting sekali. Bahkan, saya pribadi (dalam channel youtube saya) selain membuat video edukasi tentang crypto, membuat satu video khusus tentang forum bitcointalk dan mewanti-wanti para user baru untuk benar-benar memahami dulu tentang aturan, kebiasaan, dll yang ada di forum ini. Saya tidak ingin menyumbang newbie yang spammer bila mereka akhirnya bergabung berdasarkan info dari channel saya nanti. Sebisa mungkin saya juga tidak hanya membagikan info bahwa dunia crypto ini manis-manis saja, tetapi juga berusaha memberikan awareness bahwa dunia crypto ini butuh keseriusan dan keuletan supaya tidak terjebak nantinya. |
