421  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin after Chinese holiday on: March 01, 2018, 04:10:20 PM
People are used to connecting China with BTC,but this is not a significant factor anymore.Chinese authorities are currently focused on the prevention of their citizens to use foreign exchanges for trading because they successfully stopped all exchanges in China.Nothing good should not be expected regarding BTC when it comes to China, the only question is whether they continue to allow mining.Although I understand that mining just make big profit for them and money is coming in county, the only thing that bother them is the money leaving the country.

I not see any connection between Chinese new year and any effects on BTC price, before or after.

There are many connections between BTC and China:

Direct connections:

- China is host for the largest ASICS manufacturer, Bitmain;

- China is host for the largest BTC mining farms;

- China has a huge population and within this plethora of citizens there are maybe millions of crypto users/investors;

Indirect connections:

- North Korea has been using crypto to avoid international sanctions;

- NK has been launching vast cyber attacks on South Korea crypto exchanges.

- NK is behind WannaCry and a number of other major security incidents.

The lists could go on, but I thing this is enough to prove my point: China is a major player in the crypto scene, regardless of the calendar events.
422  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How to make money from staking? on: March 01, 2018, 03:56:00 PM
if this has not been said already deep onion is another good one to stake. staking itself will only give you about 10% per year but if you meet the criteria for the airdrop you will get a further 4-6% of your holdings weekly in airdrops
10% is good amount of interest.

Yes, it is. Assuming the price stays at the same level...

Staking is a great consensus mechanism, easy, cheap and eco friendly but is it not a miraculous solution.

There are many failed PoS projects. Some of them because the dev just left, others because they were a scam from the beginning and some because they had crazy returns like 700-400% a year.

This may sound like a shortcut to fortune but in fact is only an hyperinflation process that creates more supply than demand leading to a projects quick collapse.

Only crypto projects offering realist returns can thrive in the long run. And even those will have to prove worthy in order to keep a stable BTC pairing.

425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum will overtake Bitcoin on: February 28, 2018, 05:39:34 PM
One thing is certain; three years ago BTC's dominance was absolute, and now it is only ~35%.

BTC ruled alone for many years but recently is facing more and more competition from new projects with new ideas.

ETH has a serious possibility to close the gap to BTC in a matter of 3 to 5 years.
426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: It's Time to Buy Alt Coin on: February 28, 2018, 05:32:26 PM
A price increase from .001 to .002 it the same as from 1,000 to 2,000; you double your investment

Is it really easier for an altcoin to rise from .001 to .002? Maybe not, it all depends on how good the project really is.

BTC has an exponential rise last year due to the widespread awareness and trust on it's future.

But most of the altcoins don't stand a chance to rise or to thrive. Basically because most of them are empty projects and nobody is willing to invest in them.
427  Local / Portugal / Re: Já começaram... on: February 28, 2018, 05:25:33 PM

Hehehehe, quero ver quem me vai taxar as minhas mining rigs e as minting machines...

431  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin or Altcoin on: February 27, 2018, 04:32:10 PM
Bitcoin or Altcoin?

The answer is obvious: both!

BTC will keep on being the flagship of the crypto armada for the foreseeable future and therefore it might be considered as a relatively safe investment even with all the crypto instability.

Altcoins represent a mandatory investment for those who truly believe in crypto and are planning to harvest future revenues from current investments. In this scenario, diversification is a must.

Therefore, anyone interested in investing for the long run should spread the investments across a range of altcoins while keeping also some BTC.

https://www.sapo.pt/noticias/tecnologia/bruxelas-admite-criar-regras-europeias-para_5a941666cb2474b71cb759f8

https://eco.pt/2018/02/22/criptomoedas-primeiro-compreender-depois-regular-diz-cmvm/?utm_source=sapo

https://news.bitcoin.com/46-last-years-icos-failed-already/

Yes, each time you move your coins their age is reset and therefore the 20 days star counting from the beginning.
434  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to choose good coin!? on: February 25, 2018, 10:34:17 PM
You should start by asking yourself how much you believe or not in the cryptocurrencies' future. If you are going to buy you should be ready to hold your assets for a significant amount of time...

Then you should devote some time to study, creating a list of things to check before you invest in a project.

These are my criteria:

- Premined or not?

Premined coins are too suspicious. The devs take an initial big slice for themselves always justifying that with some philosophical rhetoric but there are many past examples of total scam coins using this scheme.

- ICO or no ICO?

I don't like ICOs, I prefer to invest in an already ongoing project with given proof of stability and endurance. I'm not saying all ICOs are scams, but same of them are for sure!

- How old is the coin?

In my book, if a coin is still being actively traded after 3/4 years of existence, this has to mean something; there is a faithful community behind it.

- Is it still being actively developed?

Following the previous point, if after 3/4 years the coin still has a dev team committed to it with real plans for the future, then it has a real project!

- Does it have any real use besides pure pump and dump speculation?

Is the coin being used for any kind of purchases? If not, are there any plans for it? Otherwise, it will only be a play toy for trading.

- Does it have an active and large community?

How large is the community? Is it still active or everybody left a long time ago?

- Is it PoW of PoS?

Proof of Work is a dead end, the power consumption is obscene. Not viable for the average domestic crypto enthusiast. Proof of Stake can be done with a Rasberry Pi Grin

- Fully functioning wallet?

Some coins have terrible wallets, unstable, not user friendly. This is a key factor, the software has to be in line with the state of the art crypto developments.

- What is the current marketcap?

A coin already above 100mil might not be the best bet if you can find a good one below 100 mil with a good growth perspective.

- What is the current/total coin supply?

Scarcity might prove to be an added value in the long run if you are planning to hold a coin and leave it for your kids!
435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum will overtake Bitcoin on: February 25, 2018, 10:20:07 PM
2018 will be a decisive year for both projects.

BTC will have to prove it can sustain the position as flagship of the crypto world but ETH also has prove itself as the best altcoin around.

Last year was remarkable in sense that all mainstream media gave crypto big headlines during the BTC pump.

Let's hope this year will follow the same path and both BTC and ETH will thrive in an healthy competition.

DMD has a block time of only 135s. POS

DMD Diamond has a transaction speed of 84 transactions per second. Which is 12x faster than Bitcoin!!!
Hi, Is there a Diamond lightweight wallet which generates PoS blocks?
I don't have much bandwidth and want to stake some coins.

My Windows DMD  wallet is taking less than 150Mb RAM and it uses very little bandwidth.

But you can run a headless wallet that will take even less RAM

https://github.com/DMDcoin/Diamond/releases

Or you can compile it yourself and run it in a Raspberry Pi

I also don't know about the staking in the cryptocurrency market. If, there is any possibility of income with this term then submit the detail report on this thread. But, I know about only the Bounty program that is a good option for the income.

439  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you truly believe in cryptocurrency on: February 24, 2018, 11:17:36 AM
I don't know how to answer on this question correctly... Cryptocurrencies are very interesting and seems like we will use them for a long time. But for me it's just a way of getting profit.

Therefore, that's your answer; you don't truly believe but you are exploiting the possibilities nonetheless.

440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what to do if bitcoin decreases? on: February 23, 2018, 05:13:31 PM
Panic is always a bad counsellor.

If BTC prices are falling, pay attention to other coins and try the find opportunities to sell/buy pending on your portfolio.

I believe BTC will eventually rise again although I'm not very confidante it will be in the immediate future.

Crypto investment is a game of patience...
