161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Long-term investment. on: June 09, 2018, 07:29:54 AM
The only reasonable long-term crypto investment has to be in PoS v3 assets.

Even when the market is low, like now, the wallets/masternodes will generate passive income.

This is the future, therefore a sound long-term investment.
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can world Government Kill Crypto? on: June 09, 2018, 07:27:54 AM
It is very stupid to reject the latest technology.  Governments of different countries will not take this step.  Crypto currency is the future of the economy.  And many countries understand this.

The world economy will be oil based for the rest of our lives, and our children too.

No government is interested in having a system it can't control or monitor, and on top of that allows for people to produce "money" at home.

Governments won't kill crypto, but oil will rule until all reserves are exhausted.

Hum...?! Desconheço essa... são tugas?

165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin failed as a currency on: June 05, 2018, 06:55:44 PM
Bitcoin was supposed to be used as a currency, not only a form of investment. However, it's been more successful as a form of investment, a "speculative asset".

Do you guys think that this can change in the long term ?

Unfortunately, you're right.

And that might be the greatest failure of the whole crypto system; instead of creating a better systems than the traditional savage capitalism, human greed turned it into just another speculative toy.

166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do we need to regulate digital money on: June 05, 2018, 06:51:47 PM
The choice is clear; either we want a truly decentralized system or we want a regulated one. We can't have them both!

Without regulation, volatility will always be at the core of the system. Some people like volatility it because it's a way to make money, others hate it because it can also cause major losses.

Regulation might be a good idea but will violate the cypherpunks' major tenet; to create a system out of Big Brother's reach...

167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 2018 is stabity year ? on: June 05, 2018, 06:36:38 PM
2018 will be divided into two parts, the first 6 months will be the worst for bitcoin and almost all the altcoins, the next upcoming 6 months will be the best for bitcoin and some of the altcoins that has product.

You saw that on your crystal ball?

What caused last year's spike? Can you explain that?

Crypto market, decentralized and unregulated as it is, will always be unpredictable.

We all want it to rise above the previous record values but we have to be prepared for the worst...

Grin

mostly its stucks for whole day.

That has never happened to me, but syncing can be very slow....

Try closing the wallet and reopening again.

- Compile a list of PoS coins

- Study them

- Set up a minting machine with a Raspberry Pi, an Intel NUC or some other SBC.

- Choose two or three and start with small purchases

- Keep a close eye on the staking rewards

- Keep piling up

- Forget about it for a while...

- Plan for your kids!

This thread started back in August 2017 and the reality hasn't changed since then; ETH is the best altcoin. Period!
175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: It could take 2 years for the market to recover on: June 02, 2018, 09:35:32 AM
The highest of marketcap is around $800 Bn in the January 2018 and now was going down to the $320 Bn, this mean more than 50% of marketcap decreased, 5 month already passed but no sign market will going back to the all the times high again.  It's hard to predict when this market will recover but my prediction is less than 1 year and market cap will going to the $800 Bn again.

Or it might go back to Jan 2017 levels...

Why is everybody so convinced the market will recover? Recover from where? From an anomalous peak?

Lets' face it; there is a serious possibility that the market might never reach those crazy numbers again.

Deal with it!
176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: best investment strategies on: June 01, 2018, 11:55:00 AM
Hey..

I know that everyone has different investment strategies such as day trading, hodl, buying icos and so forth...

I am selecting the best icos of every month and then I am investing into 2-3 icos for every month, but I have heard many people complaining abouy buying icos because price tend to get lower when hitting exchange for the first time..

And sometimes I am simply frustrated when hearing shit tons of people saying that buying icos is stupid.. but I guess its not so time consuming as day trading..

what is your strategy??? and what are pros and cons of your strategy??

This is my strategy:

- Premined or not?

Premined coins are too suspicious. The devs take an initial big slice for themselves always justifying that with some philosophical rhetoric but there are many past examples of total scam coins using this scheme.

- ICO or no ICO?

I don't like ICOs, I prefer to invest in an already ongoing project with given proof of stability and endurance. I'm not saying all ICOs are scams, but same of them are for sure!

- How old is the coin?

In my book, if a coin is still being actively traded after 3/4 years of existence, this has to mean something; there is a faithful community behind it.

- Is it still being actively developed?

Following the previous point, if after 3/4 years the coin still has a dev team committed to it with real plans for the future, then it has a real project!

- Does it have any real use besides pure pump and dump speculation?

Is the coin being used for any kind of purchases? If not, are there any plans for it? Otherwise, it will only be a play toy for trading.

- Does it have an active and large community?

How large is the community? Is it still active or everybody left a long time ago?

- Is it PoW of PoS?

Proof of Work is a dead end, the power consumption is obscene. Not viable for the average domestic crypto enthusiast. Proof of Stake can be done with a Rasberry Pi Grin

- Fully functioning wallet?

Some coins have terrible wallets, unstable, not user friendly. This is a key factor, the software has to be in line with the state of the art crypto developments.

- What is the current marketcap?

A coin already above 100mil might not be the best bet if you can find a good one below 100 mil with a good growth perspective.

- What is the current/total coin supply?

Scarcity might prove to be an added value in the long run if you are planning to hold a coin and leave it for your kids!

Long term investments:

I currently have a few long term investments and they all share a set of fundamental characteristics:

- PoS assets

I truly believe PoW is a dead end due to the obscene power consumption. PoS assets require minimal resources, like a Raspberry PI.

PoS v3 are fantastic and I own a few masternodes.

- Old assets

I don't trust the ICO model, it's prone to all kinds of schemes. Some ICOs might be genuine but it's almost impossible to distinguish them from the plethora of scams.

I invest in well established projects, still being actively developed after 3 or 4 year of existence.

- Realistic figures

Many new projects promise crazy returns like ~70k% ROI/year. It might work for a couple weeks but the inflation will kill all these scams after a short period of time.

For the long run, it's better to choose reasonable figures like ~20%/year or even less.

Risk management:

1 - Study

2 - Don't fall for the latest ultimate coin/token. It's probably another scam...

3 - Study a bit more

4 - Never invest what you can't afford to lose.

5 - Keep studiyng

6 - Never borrow to invest in crypto

7 - Choose wisely and start with small investments

8 - Don't sell in panic. Don't buy in euphoria.

9 - Relax

10 - Enjoy  Grin

Why are ICO's coming under pressure?

Because most of them are scams?
178  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin failed as a currency on: June 01, 2018, 11:44:39 AM
All currencies need to be regulated. That's what makes them currencies in the first place; they are centrally managed by a central bank.

If we want crypto assets to be decentralized, then they will never be regulated and therefore will never be a real currency.
179  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do we need to regulate digital money on: June 01, 2018, 11:36:49 AM
You should take the time to read BTC's seminal paper:

Quote
"A purely peer-to-peer version of electronic cash would allow online payments to be sent directly from one party to another without going through a financial institution."

"What is needed is an electronic payment system based on cryptographic proof instead of trust, allowing any two willing parties to transact directly with each other without the need for a trusted third party. Transactions that are computationally impractical to reverse would protect sellers from fraud, and routine escrow mechanisms could easily be implemented to protect buyers."

180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: 2018 is stabity year ? on: May 31, 2018, 11:45:44 AM
We are halfway across the year and there are no signs of stability, neither for the market nor for the regulatory measures.

Crypto is still in it's infancy, it will be a toddler, then a teenager and maybe in a decade or two it will be a fully mature grown system  Grin

For now, no chance for stability.
