So with the rise of Omicron in Europe and soon the USA (I think it will go astronomical over there - compare the delay previously in Feb - March 2020 Europe and the months following in the US) how long before tapering becomes complete acceleration of money printing?

I know we have that other thread to discuss this kinda stuff, and don't want to get too long-winded, but I sincerely believe everyone who has not yet achieved natural antibody response, eventually becoming infected with Omicron is the end-game for this C19 shitfuckery.

Let's hope so. More years of this crap would not be good for society.

Bitcoin Is The Perfect Option, And Central Banks Will Have To Buy In

Quote
In essence, it has heretofore been assumed that the Fed would always be there to rescue markets. The tool chest includes quantitative easing, asset purchases and interest rate relief. But what happens if these tools do not work in the future? What happens if the market loses all confidence that continuously kicking the can down the road is only delaying an inevitable collapse, and that collapse starts to happen and cannot be stopped by any of the Fed’s tools?

A suitable form of insurance in this catastrophic event would have to be an asset that is not fiat based. It would be an asset that is “short” credit on all fiat currencies, that is not centralized, and that is portable and transferable over time and space on payment rails that are not controlled by the legacy financial system. Enter stage left: bitcoin.

A “put on a put” becomes a second derivative position. The Fed has essentially sold a put to the market. As the seller of a put, the Fed would use a technique called “delta hedging” in order to manage risk. If you recall from the explanation of “gamma” in “part one,” if the Fed is exposed to the gamma squeeze, in the event that the tools of the conventional Fed put do not work, and investors rush to exit traditional assets, what is the Fed to do? We argue that the Fed would have to buy the “put on the put,” i.e., the Fed would have to buy bitcoin.

This opens an interesting game theory conundrum. When the global markets (finally) figure out that all central banks are also counting on the Fed put, and since all other global central banks will fail before the Federal Reserve fails, then shouldn’t all other central banks commence buying bitcoin as soon as possible? Moreover, when the Fed does the same exercise and realizes it could be forced to buy bitcoin in a catastrophic leverage unwind — gamma squeeze — that cannot be stopped by any Fed fiat action, perhaps it would be wise to start buying bitcoin in the here and now, too.

Somehow I got into the wrong movie today, I wanted actually to watch "Honeybadger goes to moon" but I ended up in some third class drama called "Bipolar clown pumps doggie meme shit".

Remind me again, when is the last Doge mined?
What, never? Huh, and people buy this crap at 20 cents. Makes you really wonder about the level of insanity in this world.

Oh, okay I see, it is because Doge is totally green et al while bitcoin is running on coal and diesel... makes sense.

* psycodad shakes head again in disbelief, starts drinking earlier than usual..

I have also come to see very clearly, that the younger generations have fallen into the trap of nickel-and-diming their life and fortunes away with throwing fiat at stupid meme coins, NFTs, silly Twitch subscriptions and gifting, gaming micro-transactions and pay-to-play scams, expensive daily coffees, expensive 'alt/green food products', subscribing not to just one streaming service but literally all of them including ones they never watch, clothing delivery subscriptions, food delivery subscriptions, fast food delivery services (with insane delivery fees), buying useless, valueless fad-driven baubles and trinkets on the regular, etc.

Literally hundreds of dollars a month exiting their bank accounts on pointless, really needless micro consumption. And then they want to constantly whine and complain about having no money.

“America is the prophetic image of the rest of the urban-industrial world as it will be a few years from now – recent public opinion polls have revealed that an actual majority of young people in their teens, the voters of tomorrow, have no faith in democratic institutions, see no objection to the censorship of unpopular ideas, do not believe that government of the people by the people is possible and would be perfectly content, if they can continue to live in the style to which the boom has accustomed them, to be fueled, from above, by an oligarchy of assorted experts. That so many of the well-fed young television-watchers in the world’s most powerful democracy should be so completely indifferent to the idea of self-government, so blankly uninterested in freedom of thought and the right to dissent, is distressing but not too surprising.”

If they don't continue to prop up certain markets with free credit and tons of leverage, then we get deflation at the mega corporate level, which causes paper wealth destruction, credit to evaporate, and profits to go negative, which translates into massive worldwide layoffs.

Bitcoin - Welcome To The Big Leagues

Quote

Recent developments are undoubtedly a thorn in the side of the once-isolated crypto trading community, filled with many who after spending years mastering their specific market are now essentially in competition with firms backed by billions in capex and decades of experience. Because unless it’s also a coincidence that Tesla and Bitcoin have hit their high or low for the month on the same day 8 out of the last 15 months, it really appears that Bitcoin trades only as a composite of long ‘the next big thing’ FOMO and short U.S debt. There’s nothing wrong with that - the trade has done well. But it’s a slap in the face to the uncorrelated/digital gold/reserve asset narrative. And it’s a major blow to those who were looking for an ‘alternative’ investment. Increasing correlation with bonds and equities is the biggest threat to Bitcoin right now.

It’s possible and maybe even likely that this is temporary - but whatever needs to happen for Bitcoin to again decouple from greater markets hasn’t happened yet. In light of the past two weeks, can anybody seriously say right now that they think Bitcoin will end the year higher than where it is currently if the S&P 500 doesn't?

But to be fair, long term hodlers don't really have anything to worry about since if the world post-GFC is any guide, the current pullback in equities will bottom out soon and if it doesn’t - the Fed will just announce a pause in their tapering plans and at that point everyone should go even more all in because rest assured it will give way to new all time highs for the Nasdaq, home prices, inequality, and the newest member of the liquidity-firehose winners club, Bitcoin.
