421  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Help on the Antminer S2 on: June 20, 2014, 05:42:20 AM
Sounds like a firmware default mining pool which produces BTC for the OEM - probably left in after a 'burn in testing peroid'.

Ask the OEM to confirm then ask how to flash thie firmware and change the defaults to a pool of YOUR choice.
422  Other / Politics & Society / Re: For Sale: 29 Thousand "Washed" Bitcoins on: June 20, 2014, 02:13:08 AM
Washed bitcoins? lol I doubt the US marshalls even understand bitcoin.

I wonder what soap they used...

I believe it was pineapple with a hint of vaseline.
423  Economy / Digital goods / Cyber crime & horror/thriller ebooks on: June 19, 2014, 11:32:54 PM
With an Engineering background of over 20 years in high tech aspects of the Australian defence sector (e.g. Electronic warfare, aviation & armour) as well as Autonomous mining, I have launched into writing fictional ebooks in these genres.

Also being a bitcoin 'early adopter' since about 2010~2011, I accept BTC / LTC for these novels. I am currently in the process of developing a 'crypto point of sale' on my blog however until this is up and running, I ma processing direct sales.

Please have a look at my smashwords https://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/shaynetwright collection or my blog www.shaynetwright.wordpress.com to preview the novels then contact me with a PM if you like what you see and want to purchase.

Excerpts:
Cyber Nightmares #1: For the sake of nine million. --- FREE
A hi-tech cyber-criminal outfit, an underground gas storage facility and blackmail… Chris Whiteman and the Australian Computer Emergency Response Team might be ready but are they able?

Cyber Nightmares #2: Autonomous Chaos --- 0.01BTC
A rising power block fuels the flames of global cyber-warfare, the Australian outback is the newest battleground. The war of ones and zeroes spirals out of control, autonomous train operations for the iron ore super-pits of Western Australia are targeted for chaos. To the victor go the spoils, economic prosperity or financial ruin, which will it be?

Nature Abhors a Vacuum --- 0.005BTC
As winter grips New York, three newly homeless men descend into the cities dank underbelly in search of shelter. Mike, Leroy and Miguel discover that the upper sewer system is already overpopulated and are forced to descend lower into the cities bowels. Urban legends eagerly await the arrival of fresh flesh... Will any of them survive another winter?

Sisters of Salvation: Cult of Z --- 0.005BTC
The Sisters of Salvation, an 800 year old militant order within the Teutonic Knights, stand as the last line of defence for the human soul. Mother Superior Katherine Drexel has received reports, via the confessional intelligence network, that the most vile Cult of Z has arisen. All will have their faith tested however the Zombie hordes shall be halted! Well, that is the plan...

425  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: A case study in entry-level mining on: June 19, 2014, 11:16:31 PM
If you have obsolete equipment, I am happy to look at taking it off your hands as I re-invested my BTC into a solar panel system. Sure, it only run ~14 hours per day via an UPS but it is better than letting those older ASICs / USBs just collect dust.  PM me if you interested...

This new google forms system seems quite nice. Will save him loads of time reading PM. Well done Stunna!

427  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn up to 2.4 BTC/Month by Posting on: June 17, 2014, 05:33:51 AM
Do we need to re-enrol each month?

I have just completed my 1st month, lodged a claim and want to make sure I am in the running next month.
428  Economy / Speculation / Re: Inverse Head and Shoulders pattern emerging on: June 17, 2014, 02:51:01 AM
We are developing the right shoulder (inverted of course). Target is ~$1000 once the neckline is broken...

You heard it here first.  Tongue

Estimated time frame for breakpoint?

Got a graph to support?
429  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining difficulty slowing down over the next 3 months? on: June 16, 2014, 05:29:10 AM
Mining will soon happen primarily in areas where electricity is cheap. Those paying >$0.20/kWh will see little or no profit compared to those mining at <$0.10/kWh - perhaps as much as 20% of the hardware price

Heard all this before with the change from GPU > FPGA > ASIC 1st gen >ASIC rd gen (now)

I am still chugging away profitably using captial invested at the GPU stage. You just need to have a profitcable business plan and stick to it. I may not be getting 1000% ROI p.a. but 200% is still pretty damn good.
430  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Here's how I think we could implement Bitcoin debit cards w/o a third party on: June 16, 2014, 01:21:26 AM

One of the big problem with Bitcoin is that it's not easy enough to spend in the real world. QR codes suck and inserting a card is a lot simpler than pulling out your smart phone, starting the app, scan the QR code and then send the agreed amount of bitcoins.

QR codes are a cultural acceptance issue, much like mobile phones were only for yuppies in the 80s. With next gen users, both physical age brackets [gen x, y & z] and smart technology, becoming more of the majority will influence the adoption rate of QR codes.
431  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: More shopfronts accepting BTC in Australia on: June 16, 2014, 01:00:58 AM
I go to Melbourne for work every ~3 months and the shop is just around the corner from the main CBD location I go to. I will be purchasing a few lunches from them using BTC.

Will post on the forum when it happens...
432  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / More shopfronts accepting BTC in Australia on: June 16, 2014, 12:22:56 AM
Another chain of Australian shops are accepting BTC as an over the counter payment alternative. A sandwhich bar  franchise in Melbourne, Australia, accepts BTC and offers discounts for BTC only transactions.

Feeling the vibe, I am going to campaign for a national modelling shop (tanks, sci-fi ,etc not bikinis) to start accepting BTC.
433  Economy / Speculation / Re: Good news, buy BTC now before too late. on: June 16, 2014, 12:09:09 AM
Excellent news. This really encourages me to continue my dollar averaging investment stratergy.

Australia is a great place to live....mostly.
434  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you personally seen a bitcoin millionaire? on: June 13, 2014, 01:11:31 AM
Oh, can't forget about that guy bought the pizza for 10,000 btcs.
Poor bastard.

Quite the contrary. At the time, it was a good deal and it bought the BTC community a lot of physical world publiscity. BTC would not be as widely known today if it wasn't for that infamous pizza purchase.

Has anyone done a follow up article on the shop that accepted the coins? 10KBTC @ $500 now that's a story!
435  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paypal surveying about bitcoin. on: June 13, 2014, 12:53:36 AM
Paypal will continue to act as a middle man with the associated fees.

Process will probably go:
1. Does end recipient accept BTC? If yes, charge 10% BTC transaction fee on top of original invoice. If no, charge 10% BTC transaction fee plus 5% fiat exchange fee.
2. Send out invoice.
3. Accept BTC.
4. Does BTC need conversion to fiat? Yes, convert to cash. No, transfer to slush wallet.
5. Hold BTC / fiat for at least 3 days. Trade on short term markets for 20% profit over 3 days - effectively legalised loan sharking.
6. Transfer BTC / fiat to recipient.

Eitherway, paypal wins!
436  Other / Off-topic / Re: Places you want to travel to before you die on: June 12, 2014, 07:11:55 AM
In my early 30s I had been to all my areas of primary interest. All over Australia, East + West + Central USA, a couple of pacific islands.

I think some WWII sites or Russian cities would be interesting but one thing I have found is that a metropolis just blends into any other metropolis.

In my late 30s now, I think I would like to spend some more time on warm, tropical beaches in far north Queensland or back on the pacific islands during their winters.
437  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Can a pool operator influence your miner speed? on: June 12, 2014, 06:35:12 AM
Yea if the pool isn't sending you work fast enough.  Also check the difficulty.  I've never used Slush so I don't know their difficulty but 128 is optimal for 180 GH/s.  64 or 32 probably won't hurt too much but if you're getting difficulty 1 shares I could see that slowing you down.  In Antminer S1's you can see difficulty under miner status in the "diff" column under pools.

What pool would you recommend?

I just placed one miner @ BTC Guild, 2 left in the slush pool

Give multipool a go. The coin changing aspects mcould be benefical to risk spreading with currencies.
438  Bitcoin / Pools / Pool mining and the block? on: June 12, 2014, 06:32:26 AM
If I am pool mining, punching out shares and my humble miner miraculously performs a miracle and solves an entire block; do I get credited the block reward or does it go to the pool for distribution?
439  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm a little skeptical of BTC at the moment, thinking of dropping out again. on: June 12, 2014, 06:24:55 AM
Pack your bags and move to were the work is, it is not as unusual as you may think. People from all across the social spectrum do it all the time. Labours move to mining towns to work hard, earn cash and go home. Professionals work long hours were ever the company needs them, not usually in the same location for more than 6 to 12 months. Contractors follow the dollar or BTC.

Expand the limits of your wealth creation system to beyond the region you reside in and expand it to include the entire world. Now you have a huge list of potentials to explore.

Do not limit yourself to thinking about a standard of living that is considered high in your current country. For an American, try South East Asia for 12 months were you can live like a king on $100 a week. If you are in Asia, try language skills in Europe. If your Euopean, try oil & gas in Russia.

Get my vibe with your situation? Only you can turn it around...

As for BTC, it will operate beyond your wishful thinking. Price will continue to jump in leaps as the demad outstrips supply. Difficulty will continue to rise in line with more miners being implemented.

Overall, get a plan and give it a go!

I am still regularly palying Battlefield 2 on the EA 'Battlefield2 for free' (B24F) servers. The whole game is free  Smiley

Split B24F with World of Tanks for great freebie on line games...
