421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 07, 2017, 12:45:57 AM
Brian Armstrong, Coinbase CEO, on meeting with Fluffypony:

Quote
Awesome talk by by Riccardo Spagni from @monerocurrency at @coinbase HQ today. Impressed with Monero. @fluffyponyza Talk will be online soon

https://twitter.com/brian_armstrong/status/817452522767937536

Lets keep this a secret please!
I need a few more weeks to accumulate Monero before everyone else realizes it will be added to Coinbase shortly. Wink

(I estimate it will probably be April/ May, but I would be very surprised if XMR was not added by the time summer came in the US- about six months from now.)
422  Economy / Speculation / Re: Another Bubble Bursts – Bitcoin China Crashes Over 30% on: January 05, 2017, 11:37:10 PM
Price is still close to $1000. Thats a huge increase unless you bought coins for $1150.
Unless thousands of Bitcoin get dumped and the price drops to $500, the rise over the last few months may be signs of a bright future.

The recent rise has caused some mainstream media attention and new investors to become interested in crypto.
I would not be surprised to learn that some major online businesses were considering Bitcoin payments after the recent exposure.
423  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What Altcoin under 1 Million Dollar mcap - worth buying in 2017 - that will rise on: January 05, 2017, 11:30:33 PM
BURST!!!

Burstcoin going large in 2017

I hope so.
Its a really good project, has a really well developed GUI wallet that has the miner built in.

I also like the Proof of Capacity idea. Low-energy mining is something we should look into for the future. Having warehouses full of ASICs draining power 24/7 is definitely not an ideal setup.
424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Amanda B Johnson - fraud, scam enabler and paid shill for dash/darkcoin scam? on: January 05, 2017, 05:23:27 PM
I'm willing to whore myself out to any signature campaign as long as it makes me earn a few dollars.
It doesn't change what or how often I post, but I would be crazy not to take a few dollars for something I'm going to do anyways.

99.99% of people offering "advice" in the crypto world are only trying to promote their agenda.
If someone is able to capitalize on a company who is willing to pay them for their services, more power to them.
As long as you aren't causing any harm.
Now, if you are purposely mis-leading people and making money off it, you are a scumbag.
If your lies are hurting peoples pocketbooks don't be surprised when someone comes after you online and possibly in real life.
425  Economy / Speculation / Re: Welcome back 2014! on: January 05, 2017, 05:15:54 PM
Shit was too hot.
Like Icarus, the price of Bitcoin climbed too high, too fast, and burnt its wings.

Luckily I predited this yesterday and moved everything I had but about $100 into trashy altcoins.
Hopefully one of these shitcoins makes me a few bucks.

This is all satire, since its not like $975 is a terrible price right now.
Anyways as long as Bitcoin doesn't drop to $500 or something I'm sure we are fine.
426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Go and vote for cryptocurrency of the year 2016 on: January 05, 2017, 12:05:48 AM
Im sure Monero has to be the winner of 2016.
Ending the year strong by (finally) getting some GUI wallet integration, and (finally) being added to more than one exchange, plus a nice increase in price.
Either that or maybe ETH for a strong showing through the mid to end of the year.
427  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think "iamnotback" really has the" Bitcoin killer"? on: January 04, 2017, 11:17:33 PM
I would love a chance to read the whitepaper.
Although I haven't been on this forum long, I've seen some posts from iamnotback that are definitely very interesting.
There are still lots of great ideas out there. Bitcoin is the beginning, not the end.
428  Economy / Speculation / Re: If we didnt had idiots blocking segwit we would be sittting on 4 figures by now on: January 04, 2017, 11:01:02 PM
I do believe that adopting Segwit or something similar that boosts TPS will have a positive impact on Bitcoin and it's price.

Yes its actually very impressive that price continues to climb, even in the midst of the blocksize debate (argument?)
Imagine what could be achieved if we were able to reduce transaction time, one of the main roadblocks for many business models that might consider accepting Bitcoin.
429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: January 04, 2017, 02:48:42 AM
Folks, vote for Factom:

What digital currency would you like to see added to Coinbase next?
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc2fiKVGs8bBWSzUols16GjetJ0aWx4N1J10SP0NwhG6rdtfg/viewform

I voted for Monero and Factom.
Two projects that I think will go up in value as they are exposed to more users.
2017 could be a very good year for FCT if the new network improves performance and we are able to get the coin listed on more wallets/ exchanges.
430  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Drugs with Bitcoin ? on: January 04, 2017, 02:29:45 AM
People are going to do drugs no matter what. Once you accept that fact, its easy to see that the best course of action is to legalize, tax and regulate the substances.
At least that way you can control the purity and dose to keep people from dying,
help to eliminate some of the criminal element by removing their illegal cash flow,
and generate income for the state/ country through taxation.

I believe that in 2016 the state of Colorado in the US made close to a Billion dollars in taxes from Cannabis sales.
That is a state with a population of 5.5 million people.
That money goes to roads, schools and other public projects to improve the state. Much better than going to illegal drug dealers and cartels!
431  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NOW is a good time for a hack! on: January 04, 2017, 02:04:05 AM
Nope, The price increase isn't always good timing. They just try to hack if there is any bug from the site. They won't do that if they don't disclosing the bug by the site. They won't care about the price of bitcoin although it's free money in his perspective.

Exactly.
You will do reconnaissance, find your weakness, make your preparations, and strike.
The price of Bitcoin at the time will have nothing to do with it.
Unless, of course, the rise in price created some greater amount of transactions, or more traffic to the site which would help with your attack.
432  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero exchance centralization... a danger? on: January 04, 2017, 01:39:32 AM
We definitely need Monero to be on more exchanges, preferably in multiple countries.
Decentralization is very important, and to be truly anonymous, we need ways to buy XMR without being forced to tie a government ID to your account.
Since being anonymous is one of the strong selling points of  the coin, its doubly important, in this case.

With all that being said, I think its worth noting that we have had a lot of growth and strong support while being only listed on one exchange until very recently.
Thats a great sign for long-term investors. Imagine what the price could be if you were able to buy on Chinese exchanges, for example...  Cool
433  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price cycles on: January 04, 2017, 01:21:44 AM
Thank you hacknoid, that is some very good analysis and the charts are great.
If I'm reading this right, we are in the middle of a strong peak which might actually fall to the $700 to $800 range in the next couple of months?

That would actually be perfect. I would be able to cash some out for fiat or trade for alt-coins and then re-buy when everyone sells their Bitcoin a few hundred dollars cheaper than they are right now.
Or am I reading this all wrong?
434  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: January 03, 2017, 05:26:52 PM
Even though the price has gone up a bit, is now still a good time to buy more XMR?
ZEC is trading at almost 3x the price of Monero, and I personally feel that Monero is a much better product, with at least some support even if its mostly from darknet vendors right now.
Surely the price could go as high as Zcash, right?
I don't think $40 to $50 is unreasonable if we get more exchanges and wallets supporting the coin, and start to see some clearnet websites start to accept payments in XMR.
(Or is this just wishful thinking?)
435  Economy / Economics / Re: Guy loses 240-600 BTC trying to short on: January 03, 2017, 02:13:57 AM
Is it too late to nominate Huge Black Woman as the best account of 2016?
Every post is hilarious. Hats off to you friend. Keep up the good work!
436  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [DASH] Dash Price and Trade Discussion Thread [UNMODERATED] on: January 03, 2017, 12:55:19 AM
Yeah I've had a couple posts deleted from some self-moderated Dash topics...
Will be nice to see what people think and be able to discuss opinions without having your comments deleted for saying something unpopular.
437  Other / Off-topic / Re: What do forum readers WANT? on: January 03, 2017, 12:22:25 AM
If you pay people to post, you are going to get a million accounts spamming posts until they hit the payout cap.

Its hard to grow actual users. You need to start with a small group that offers a reason to read the content.
Good advice from dedicated members about whatever topic you are promoting will need to be the basis.
If you had the money it would be better to pay some content creators for your site than to pay random people to make random posts.

Then you need to somehow attract new members through either advertising or cross-promotion on other forums.
Its definitely not an easy task.
438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [DOGE] Will history repeat again? MOON on: January 03, 2017, 12:13:43 AM
Last big pump was at the end of January/ start of February 2016.
I've been expecting a rise in price for the last few months but it hasn't materialized yet.
Maybe the start of 2017?
439  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: January 02, 2017, 11:47:08 PM
Marriage and finding someone you truly love is an amazing thing. It is one of the most beautiful things in this world.
However, the world we live in has become so strange and perverted, even the idea of marriage has been damaged.
Too many people rush in and get married because its what is expected. Get married, get a nice house, get a nice car and a good paying job.
Marriage has become just another possession, another thing in the material world that you are expected to attain to be happy, to show your success.
Which means too many people rush in and possibly marry the wrong person because it will make their family happy, etc.

Take your time. Meet the right person. Find someone you share a connection with.
Being around amazing people and sharing moments with them is what life is truly about.
440  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: My friend and I are thinking of mining Bitcoins.... on: January 02, 2017, 10:48:44 PM
I'd like to hear peoples opinions about pool mining vs solo mining  for someone starting out with a few miners.
I'm sure someone has done the math and can post expected time to hit a block solo vs your average earnings when using a pool.
Is it even worth mining solo these days unless you have a ton of hash power?
