441  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TAKCoin REBRANDED . TOLERANCE. ACCEPTANCE. KNOWLEDGE [TAK] is Back. SHA256 on: March 16, 2014, 04:53:35 PM
im not saying this because im angry or anything, im just saying this because it seems very obvious to me, and i don't like to see other people lose money. don't take this personal.

Time to let it go... if you lost money its on you... you chose to invest... all investments are risk... this one happened to have a big problem to work through and apparently you didn't play it correctly. Take your losses and quit drawing MORE negativity to the rebranded project, You claim you don't want to see others losing money... then stop posting in this thread as your posts aren't doing the coin price any favors.

Suggestion: stop trying to invest in coins... if you lost money here, you weren't paying attention. I know lots of others lost money also but there have been ample opportunities to mitigate that loss and even make positive headway just in TAK alone. Not even including the first batch I sold and made a ton of profit on in the first week... I mined since launch (and have not stopped yet) and have made more than double what I would have on BTC alone, and added even more to that watching what has been happening just the last few days and playing my trades at the right times..

If you cared enough to post here as much as you have, then you would have been able to recoup your losses on the market easily.
Big +1, don't have anything else to add.

Friend replicated it as well, exact same results as I'm having..

Couldn't it be some kind of bug inside the wallet? Not being able to store it elsewhere is a big risk for the current environment I'm in...

Agreed.  Same issue on my end in both Windows 7 & 8.  Is there any word on this or the block explorer from the devs?

Block explorer is still around. It will be linked again once we have the new site up. Should be today or tomorrow!

On the note of the wallet let me see what I can do. Our coders had issue identifying the problem but i'll copy all of this to them and see if we can get some answers. I'll keep you all updated.
Awesome, thank you! Will keep checking back for a reply.

A little update on this. We believe we have found an issue and will work to fix it this weekend. Thank you for letting us know this is in fact widespread guys. We'll get back to you on any word from wallet devs.
Great, looking forward to the fix! Smiley If that indeed fixes the issue, would you mind sharing what the issue exactly was? As there's a wallet from another coin that's having the same issue as well, would be great to pass it onto them with all credits going to TAK ofcourse! Cheesy

Nobody that can answer this? Not even the old/new devs?

Sorry we have no clue why this would be and have had people not have any issues with this. If someone can replicate maybe we can figure it out.

I replicated it... same exact results.

The latest (v0.9.1.2) wallet path: D:\wallet\takeicoin-qt.exe

The shortcut: D:\wallet\takeicoin-qt.exe -datadir=D:\wallet\data

Gives no message/warning whatsoever and still it saves in the default (%APPDATA%/TakeiCoin) folder..

Since I do not know what you have done already... have you created the D:\wallet\data folder beforehand and have you made sure what the folder privileges are? Not sure if maybe you are expecting it to create the folder for you and maybe the application has a trust issue so the drive will not allow the folder to be created so it defaults, or if you did make the folder and it does not like something about how its privileges are set so it can't use it and again defaults.

Testing myself right now with the new wallet.

Edit: did all this myself and have the same results as you... QT refuses to use the directory you point it to with the -datadir flag both in a shortcut and from a command prompt.
I already made the folder (/data) on forehand but it still refuses to use that directory and sticks to the default %APPDATA%/TakeiCoin directory.

But whenever I point it to a folder that doesn't exist (/data2) it gives me an error:

So it actually does something... Also tried renaming the wallet to something without punctuation: wallet.exe but the results remain the same.

Been having this issue since the very first day with this wallet..

EDIT:
Run as Admin from the same drive (C:/) as where %APPDATA%/TakeiCoin is located doesn't solve the issue either. Already gave Full permissions to both the wallet and data directories. Running out of options here..

REQUIRED NEW WALLET DOWNLOAD - KIMOTO GRAVITY WELL http://takticker.com/
The -datadir option still doesn't work for me, damn!

Others confirmed it is working for them... even if other wallets have this working for you on the machine... I would say this appears to be something local to you. What ACTUALLY happens when you try this... what is the response/output you receive?

We're working on giving ownership of the coin to a large web development company to take over. That said we WILL remain on as part of the new leadership team. Once we have more information, which we are told will be Monday, I will let everyone know what's going on.
Awesome, great news! Smiley

So whenever the rebranding is finished, will the already mined coins remain or is everything set back to 0/scratch?
450  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] TAKEICOIN - SHA256 - Kimoto Gravity Well - Media Machine on: March 08, 2014, 09:47:02 AM
What exactly does a rebrand mean for the already mined coins? Will they be completely useless, or remain intact having the same value of the rebranded coin plus just another name? Or will everything be from scratch/zero?

They stay exactly the same.
Thanks for clarifying!

Then it's an easy choice, rebrand ASAP before people really lose their interest. With the same amazing community and a new dev team with the same intentions as the TakeiCoin devs, we can still have one hell of a ride altogether. I believed in TakeiCoin and their dev team, and I still do. Whatever the choice is they make, I trust them and will support them!

Thank you TakeiCoin and the dev team, whatever will happen this coin still has a bright future ahead!

Keep it up, peace!

This is a nice little boost to wake up to. Very happy to see it.

1) New wallet with hard fork and built in IRC client to be released today. Windows and Linux first - Mac will be added shortly.
2) News section will be added to website
3) Online Wallet is finished, will be added to website as soon as possible.

4) Fix the -datadir issue with previous wallet? Smiley

Block 159136 will be target for Kimoto Gravity Well fork. We will give everyone ample time to switch to the new wallet and ensure proper transition.
Please take a look at -datadir functionality in the new wallet. I have tried everything, but for me the TakeiCoin wallet (using v0.9.0.0) is the ONLY wallet out of 25 wallets I'm using where the -datadir option simply doesn't work. There are several other people that have the same issue, I'm 100% confident the problem is wallet-related.

I spoke with some people in the IRC already, none could fix the issue. So please, look into that as it would be great to have it fixed and finally working in the new wallet! Smiley

I will talk to the QT guy about this. He's in the middle of adding IRC to the wallet so he can look into it while working on that.
Awesome! Whenever you have an update or the new wallet is ready, please provide a small changelog on what's updated. Thanks in advance, keep up the good work! Smiley

I am using v0.9.0.1-beta, and -datadir is working fine for me.
What.. not working for me in that version either.. :x

EDIT:
Seems that the website (takeicoin.org) is showing a newer version: TakeiCoin-Qt-0.9.0.2-Win.. but the -datadir option still doesn't work..

Anyone that has the -datadir parameter in the wallet shortcut working? It's not storing the wallet data in the specific folder..

Also found the same problem yesterday, since i use this parameter for all my wallets. Sad
Yeah exactly.. The only two wallets I've ever experienced this issue with are the TakeiCoin wallet and the MazaCoin wallet. However the TakeiCoin wallet is being updated, with the -datadir option being added. Hope the MazaCoin devs will do the same!
