Look at this Nem picture http://www.danhgiakpi.com/nemClient/web/index.html#ajax/dashboard.html

Would it be possible to only release the source code (months after launch) of the everything related to how the coin works, but keep everything else close source for much, much, much longer?

That way the clones will stay very inferior, and not just anyone could copy it to the tune of 21+ coins per week.

This doesn't look in any way official.
442  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: April 02, 2014, 10:42:30 PM
There are many merits and failings of both brain wallets and desktop wallets. To be honest, I think it's just a matter of personal preference...

It's an interesting discussion, but I think it's pretty much a finality that NEM will be using a desktop wallet system. A poll on the forum a while back, plus a general browse on forums, shows that desktop wallets are preferred by the vast majority of people.

Perhaps the fact that this discussion is happening indicates that a new wallet system is needed, a hybrid of brain and desktop wallets. Perhaps something for the NEM developers to think about in the future?

I'm not one for online wallets to be honest. In fact i'm not one for anything "online" based as i feel i have far less control over the security of whatever it is in question (Whether that be software or, in this case, currency)

A hybrid would be ideal. This to me was the biggest downfall of NXT as online storage has more cons than pro's.
443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Alt coin to invest in 2014 on: April 01, 2014, 05:13:56 PM
I missed the NXT boat, but bought a few thousand NXT's because i believe it has merits.

I was also lucky enough to get on the NEM boat during the IPO.

NEM intrigues me the most so far, especially as it's not going to be a clone of NXT (As initially anticipated) and is basically 3000 men (and women!) strong right out the gate.

Looks good! Will you add NXT and later NEM?

Thanks marek3ball, we would like to add NEM with the permission of the owners  and not NEXT, I think NEM will do one million much better than NEXT because of it's wonderful community, I would like to invite you all to try our exchange and let us know what you think, we will welcome your ideas and add things you think will make us better, we have competitions where we give alt coins away

I came across your exchange a while ago, and from what i read, it looks pretty good.

On the release of NEM, I will very likely get myself authenticated on your site. I appreciate the consideration to add NEM.

Hi Guys,
I have heard that some people have more then 1 stake of NEM and would like to sell stakes.I'm now in the waiting list, but I will be more then happy to buy one stake for me if it's legal of course.
please send me PM about this deal-if you want to sell 1 stake for me.
thank you.

Remember not to trust anyone and that no stakes have been distributed yet.
Thank You very much for Your advice. I won't trust but I'm really want to be in this community!
This is really pity that I was late on NEM registration...
Again! People! are there some gays which would like to sell me 1 stake?

Why only gays, y ;Dou have something against straight people  Huh maybe you should include all people this way you will have a better chance of getting a stake  Wink

Sorry friends! I meant straight people!!! or just any people which can sell 1 stake for me.

Honest mistake, comon guys. It was hilarious.
446  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: March 21, 2014, 10:06:15 PM
I also have to stress that i think the key isn't in just distribution or the fear of dumping, but also in making sure we have ACTIVE stakeholders who are prepared to donate a portion of their NEM to community promotions and other initiatives.

This is the big problem with NXT right now. In order for the idea to succeed in such a competitive market, it'll take community effort to make NEM stand out. This also means, imo, getting NEM to have some presence on the deep web as well as more legit retailers.
447  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: March 20, 2014, 01:07:33 AM
well don't be pissed, there is nothing to be pissed about.

We must realise, there is nothing to gain if we support a "myCoin vs theOthercoin" attitude.
We must realise, all coins are tools that transfer wealth. Our wealth.

No coin is at war with any other coin. All coins out there are tools in our toolbags, we should use them wisely.
The moment we start taking sides, is the very moment we are losing the game.

All these coins will not be successful, and the ones that will succeed will do so because they will have a strong community, that will be willing to
place trust (with its financial meaning) on that coin.

There are only a handful of people in these boards that invest in only one coin, nobody should do this.
Diversification and patience are key words, keep that in mind.

Personally, I am waiting for the day when BTC1 = $10.000  Grin
But if Nxt, Nem, or a few other choices take me there, i will not say no. I find most of the coins here to be complimentary to each other.

I agree...
The good old "where is the value" problem.
All these coins at the end will succed when we can transfer value/wealth from real things at the same way we are doing with fiat currencies. What I like from NEM is that this concept is very much in mind of the developers and (some) stakeholders.
Btw, I'm back in town  Smiley

Personally I believe any crypto (Even NEM/NXT) are destined to fail unless they get their "foot through the dark door" into the deep web, and yes, this means blackmarket trade. Bitcoin (and crypto's in general) pretty much enable it with their more anonymous nature.

This is the primary thing that keeps bitcoin afloat and gives it such a high value. That high value gets the attention of more "legit" shops who then later adopt it in the more mainstream markets. (In part thanks to mainstream media)

Fact is, unless a coin gets into the black markets, odds are they won't get anywhere - especially when there's so much competition in the crypto world and most coins are competing at a very similar level. With Bitcoin leagues ahead of everything (due to reasons i've already stated).
448  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: March 15, 2014, 08:22:40 PM

I have seen all the logos on that website page but I must say that I wasn't so taken by any of them .
This one is the best in my opinion. Its modern and futurist. It's simple but effective. I also like the
Writing down each side (New Economic Movement) which initially is not seen so much as the attention is on the
bigger letters NEM in the middle but then the writing down the side seems to appear thus giving newbies the wording to the letters. If it was meant to do this then it is very clever. A New Economy Movement appearing!!!!

I disagree. This logo is far too convoluted and difficult to read. This is a primary issue with Crypto's - they alienate people who don't understand them and quite naturally get discarded as a scam. By making a logo difficult to read, it's going to encourage that mindset.
449  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] NXJ :: descendant of NXT - For the Awesome on: March 12, 2014, 11:48:21 AM
Newbie - check.

Practically a cut and copy paste post - check

Bold claims (Ambassador of NXT?) - Check

Nothing dodgey about this at all. But hey, it's free right?, so; "Interested".

for list of Stackcoin victims contact RSC dev Mycrion.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=491255.0

it would make story, that would be picked up by crypto-media rather easily.

There's a number of reasons why i don't support "helping" stackcoin:

1. They bought it upon themselves investing in a coin that had little changes or merits from the typical clone - it stank of scam

2. The entire fiasco has blown over. To my knowledge, a coin was created specifically to help compensate the victims. By getting NEM involved it's not exactly going to help

By getting involved, it's not going to see the publicity you think it will. People have moved on - another scam coin for the pile.
451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: March 11, 2014, 01:54:01 AM
Will NEM be capable of hitting 10 cents?

How long is a piece of string?

In the case of NEM, as long as people cut it. If people don't put the effort in (this includes putting forth their own funds for community driven efforts - advertising, etc) that NEM string will be short.

If you're a stakeholder in NEM, it is in your long term interests to use a portion of your funds to help give NEM the boost it needs to publicity. This is something thats lacking in the NXT camp right now, from what i've read. NXT is dominated by whales/horders who care nothing for the currency, and only stash their vast sums of coins with no care for the longevity or future development of the currency.
452  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: March 06, 2014, 05:16:27 PM
wow so eager to sell stakes. Wtf ?!
If this is what we can look forward to when NEM hit's an exchange then good night.

You're naive if you think that all the stakeholders here are going to work on NEM to create a better world.

Ofcourse there will be people selling their stake at the beginning. It's not that bad you know. They will distribute the coins so you don't have to do it.  Wink

Fine by me. I'll buy them up, distribute a portion to the development of the coin and keep the rest.

I've already got in mind how much of my own stake i intend to "donate" to community efforts and development. Better this way long term if everyone thought along the same way.

thats not a good sign
I am sorry that I have been ~2 days offline.............................

As promised: we deliver V1.1 right now: Whitepaper V1.1

As for the LTC investments I feel you are right. We never told you how we would exchange LTC/BTC so it was not a rule change now but rather an additional information in my opinion. Anyway since some of you would interpret it differently we are going to set 50LTC = 1.5 BTC
We might only offer a BTC investment address for the 2nd stage to prevent those issues (it is not really fair either way).

As for the PMs and mails: They will be processed in about 12 hours since no one of us has time to do it now.

By the way: Why should I leave bitcointalk right now as you might feared because being 2 days offline? I/We would scam you immediatly after the first stage (obviously this did not happened and all investments are still untouched and will not be touched until some month after launch) or after the second stage. There is really no sense in quitting in between ;-) [and no, I and we do not want to scam you at all]

As promised, some code is included and more is going to follow in the next version(s). The screenshots are still the same and will be updated within the next version.

Have a nice day
eXocoin team

Although i've by no means invested a huge sum, I appreciate your continued replies here, and i sincerely hope you deliver to your word. Honesty is a far scarcer thing than money when the latter is involved. People are naturally nervous given the previous trend.

First version  Tongue

I was not serious when I made it  Wink

Thank god. I can't say i'm a fan of eminem or rap for that matter, lol.

Here are some colours...
Just in case this does gain some traction as a logo idea...

Interesting direction. I wonder does the symbol have a meaning ?

I got to be honest. I don't like this.

It's not quickly recognizable whats written on the blocks. To an outsider, this is going to be confusing - and the crypto world has enough of that as it is.

It looks more like CEM to me.

Nonetheless, i think keeping the font/style is good, especially having the E the way it is. IT just needs to be presented in a more conventional manner. We just need it eyecatching (the "E" accomplishes that) Not frustrating or confusing to understand.
456  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: February 26, 2014, 07:04:20 PM
Maybe NEM will have some benefits from the Egalitarian.
There will not be such whales (unless there are some groups of sockpuppets), who are just waiting ...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.msg5384028#msg5384028

The question is does it make a difference if you have few people harding a lot compared to many people hoarding less. POI will be a huge factor here but I still think many stakeholders are going to sit on their NEM waiting to dump it once it get's the first big spike.

This can be both a good and bad thing.

Yes, people can dump, but this just means those who recognize the value in NEM will buy up. Yes, sure, this may mean existing stakeholders may just accumulate more NEM, making the distribution more unbalanced, but this may not necessarily be a bad thing if said individual has their priorities right and actually has an active involvement in (this) community/thread.

In regards to my own stake, i hope to contribute as much as i can to the community as i lack the knowledge and experience to do so in any other way.

I may not participate much, but i pay much attention to threads such as this.

What i'm seeing in regards to NXT is pretty much exactly what i feared; A select minority -- who have no involvement in the community -- accumulating large sums, with the sole intent to likely dump as soon as it's valuable. It goes without saying that if you hold a large sum in any crypto, it's in YOUR long term interest to cooperate with the community as much as possible. Sadly greed often blinds people and it wouldn't surprise me if they do this with an agenda...sabotage the coin, perhaps.
457  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: dogecoin LIED and created the illusion of popularity when no-one liked it on: February 25, 2014, 02:55:05 AM
The OP has a point. Dogecoin is nothing but a measly clone of what is otherwise dated code. In order to get the ball rolling, it wouldn't surprise me if a few accounts were made in order to entice more exposure.

Nonetheless, the real reason Dogecoin also took off was the fact it was the first of it's kind; a meme coin. Unfortunately, it has absolutely nothing else going for it, and effectively is another trash coin for the pile once it goes belly up - and it will, once people start to see it for what it is.

I was too busy mining Protoshares at the time, a decision i did not regret. At least that offered something new. However, i've moved past mining altogether now.

Hi!

In NEM Stakeholder list on Google Docs (Thread 2) my account marked "possible duplicate hash fraudster" with user kennywho, but

My transaction id: 2630613199547305703
kennywho transaction id: 2630402633550461799

Please correct

Noted, I'll add a comment to the list. I'm suprised you made it to the unified list without a Y in the first place.

I like your signature. I like that it shows NEM, and that the E catches people's eye.

Me too. I would like a copy of it.
459  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: February 24, 2014, 02:42:45 PM
I'm surprised by some of the greed (assuming some people have created sockpuppet accounts for selfish reasons). One stake per person is enough, and it in turn it allows other users to claim a fair stake as well.  Every sockpuppet account that someone creates for selfish reasons, then a potential legitimate stakeholder loses out.  This is not good for the movement/community.

If a user is found to create many accounts for "family", "friends" etc, perhaps they should only be given one stake which they can share with their "family" and "friends" rather than multiple.

i.e. they can split their one stake 50/50, 33.3/33.3/33.3 25/25/25/25 and so on.

Although i completely agree with this, the reality is it would be extremely difficult to accomplish. In addition i am an individual who bought NXT on behalf of a friend who later used it in his own wallet to invest in NEM (Of which i can prove through a variety of means to UP if requested)

In all honesty, i just don't see it happening anytime soon. Personally the only people i'd pursue are those who blatantly hold a large number of stake.
460  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: February 24, 2014, 06:47:58 AM
You are wrong.  I raised my objection, because I was looking out for the interests of the community.  I didn't see a lot of innovation imo and I saw a lot of Nxt / Btc being collected.

Well, I appreciate your concerns (seriously, i do) However i have my doubts whether or not you speak with sincerity.

Nonetheless, if i'm wrong, you should've been in the Stackcoin thread; as far as i'm aware, more money was lost there than whats been put into NEM. Stackcoin won't be the last.

If people wish to pay NXT into NEM, this is their choice and certainly not wrong as you clearly imply. I can't help but sense the irony in your words when you imply such a thing, only to then in your next breath say NEM is pretty much a dictatorship.

Anyway, i'm done.
