441  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Turkey is eyeing finalization of taxing cryptocurrencies by next year on: October 30, 2023, 06:00:00 PM
Well slowly all other countries will start imposing tax on Bitcoin. But it will be very interesting to see how they are going to track it. Surely they cannot impose taxes on Bitcoin transactions, rather they will try to track any conversion into Fiat through the banking channel. That's how other countries are texting cryptocurrency.

But one good thing is going to happen, probably after a structured framework a lot of merchants might become interested in accepting Bitcoin payment. But we are yet to see this.
442  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Sent Coin by mistake to wrong address and got them back:) on: October 30, 2023, 04:20:43 PM
Lol so I still don't know how it happen but somehow I sent some money to @rat03gopoh how I get his address copied to my clipboard I don't know but I was searched on Google for the address and come up with the holder then contacted him and hope to get it back, 😅  funny story

Unfortunately there is no way to cancel or rivers are transaction in Bitcoin. That is one of the biggest issues with Bitcoin. You are lucky enough to get the money back. There are numerous occasion where people have mistakenly sent out Bitcoins and never receive them back.

Bitcoin is good as an investment but if we look from the perspective of a currency or a payment processor, it cannot be worse.
443  Economy / Economics / Re: Steam drops support for 2 fiat currencies over their volatlity on: October 30, 2023, 02:20:33 PM

In the past Steam dropped the option of paying with BTC via BitPay because of customer complaints over high fees, delayed transactions and problems with the processor, and Steam never had intention of accepting Bitcoin directly. Now we see that fiat currencies are not immune from getting dumped by global corportations either.

Bitcoin puritans need to understand that Bitcoin is not a solution to every problem in the fintech world. Rather when Bitcoin is compared to the mainstream financial processing gateways, it looks like coming straight out of the stone age.

Bitcoin is an excellent choice for investment due to high volatility. But at the same time Bitcoin is a very poor choice for transfer of value.
444  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PlusOneCoin was 51% hijacked on: October 30, 2023, 06:01:58 AM
Shit coins usually have shitty future. That's another example why we should not invest in shit. If someone is not willing to invest in Bitcoin or ETH, it is better to invest in Gold and stocks.

And honestly, buying such coins is a pure form of gambling. You never know how long they are going to exist. The crypto community do not need thousands of coins in the market. It's just way too much crowded now.
445  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would happen if there was only one cryptocurrency, which is Bitcoin? on: October 29, 2023, 04:44:46 PM
Something came out in my mind recently:
How would the price of Bitcoin change if there were no other cryptocurrency than Bitcoin?
Would Bitcoin develop faster without a competition?

Many people believe that if there is no alternative cryptocurrency, the price of Bitcoin will rise because it has no competition.

But, in my opinion, the price of Bitcoin is lower if it does not have a competition. Why? Because if there is no competition, the buyer's thinking is "should I buy this or not?" however if there is competition, the buyer's mind is "should I buy Bitcoin or these alts?"

As a result, not just Bitcoin but other altcoins will benefit. So, rather than being upset or sad because there is a competition, we can look at it in a positive way.

I don't think that we wouldn't have any issue if there is no alt coins. Bitcoin truly has no competition. Also majority of the users use USD value to derive the price of a bitcoin. So honestly it doesn't matter whether there are altcoins in the market or not.

But having one or two altcoins sometimes help. But certainly we don't need thousands of altcoins in the market where majority of the coins are dead. One strong Bitcoin is preferred over a crowded market.
446  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a “safe haven asset” on: October 27, 2023, 06:20:04 PM
Bitcoin is not a safe heaven asset. It is super volatile and it can go to any direction at any point of time. Safe heaven assets are usually stable in nature and gives you capital protection. For example gold can be considered as a safe heaven asset because of less volatility and past returns.

If you want capital protection and piece of mind invest in Gold and not in Bitcoin. You can definitely invest in Bitcoin to get good returns but you need to remember that Bitcoin can show you losses as well.
447  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin: The smartest investment choice. on: October 27, 2023, 12:05:31 PM
Doesn't really matter what random people are saying about Bitcoin. Couple of years ago, such negative statements used hurt the market but not anymore. We are immune from negative publicity from random economic gurus.

But Bitcoin is not really the smartest investment to be honest. Yes, if you do not pay taxes, that is fine. But whoever pays taxes and wants to stand with the law, Bitcoin is not that lucrative as it was earlier, due to heavy taxes in many countries.

Bitcoin can beat every other asset in pre-tax return but not for post-tax return.
448  Local / India / Re: Indian Stock Markets VS Bitcoin on: October 27, 2023, 04:23:32 AM

Think again - which is better, Bitcoin or the Stock Market? If you are someone with diamond hands, then Bitcoin is the right investment. The potential for enormous growth and returns far exceeds traditional investments.

In terms of return, Bitcoin has delivered much better than many other investment assets. There's no question or concern! But the question is more about taxes. If I am an Indian investor investing in Bitcoin, then I would have to pay 30% tax unlike the stock market. So we need to calculate the post tax return in reality. So, now if you do the math, the stock market will look much more lucrative than Bitcoin if you are an Indian resident.

Everything is not gold that glitters. If you find a way to avoid taxes, the gain is yours. But if you are standing on the right side with law, then stock market delivers a much better return along with dividend income. Consider tax, while doing such calculations.
449  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UK passes bill to enable authorities to seize Bitcoin used for crime on: October 26, 2023, 05:08:05 PM
I saw this today on Cointelegraph: https://cointelegraph.com/news/uk-bill-seize-bitcoin-passed

Who is seizing stolen and bitcoin used in illegal activities before in United Kingdom?.

Aliens?  Grin

This is a part of their regulatory framework. If you think UK is the only one seizing stolen or illegal Bitcoins, then you are probably day dreaming. There are multiple countries like US, China, Saudi Arabia etc. Not every news come out in open especially from the middle eastern countries.

Please don't tell me that it wasn't expected. With the mainstream adoption of bitcoin, the risk of centralized control increases. If bitcoin had stayed as a parallel underground currency system, this would probably have been avoided.
450  Economy / Economics / Re: Lucky you do not sell to blackrock on: October 26, 2023, 04:50:15 PM
A few day ago blackrock happy was buy cheap many btc in the market. Now, you are regret to sold it to big company which will be resold back to you with high price in the next years.

Isn't that how the economy works? Especially for a volatile asset like Bitcoin? Obviously it does!

When a big company like BlackRock buys Bitcoin, they source it from the miners and not from the open market. So as a common people we do have zero control over the transaction. So there's nothing to regret.

If you have a long term vision for Bitcoin, start averaging your buying price from today onwards. Or there will be regrets later.
451  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible to build a career with bitcoin? on: October 26, 2023, 03:15:48 AM
One of my older brothers bought bitcoin with that money, instead of keeping it in the bank, about 6 months ago, the price of bitcoin was 24-25k+, and he bought about 1 BTC. The price of bitcoin has increased to 34K+. In just 6 months, he has made a profit of 9k+ dollars, which would have taken more than 20 years to get from the bank. This means that bitcoin can become a millionaire if people invest in it at the right time. I also bought some bitcoins myself and did it by withdrawing money from the bank. Success is not possible if you do not take risks in life. I know how hard it is to make money and if it is to sweat your head and work day and night, then it is worth it. And we can make a lot of income by buying or trading bitcoin with the right rules. I think bitcoin is a bright future for us.

The past profits do not guarantee any future profit. So never make a career by holding bitcoin. Work for company or start a business which will give you acess to money. Never rely completely on Bitcoin unless you are trading at a professional level with all tools and financial support.

Career is something else. It cannot be built by holding cryptos. Come out of the daydream and start working so that you don't have to regret later in life.
452  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: IRS proposes unprecedented data-collection on crypto users on: October 25, 2023, 06:23:34 PM

bitcoin is not for usa people. period. not after this type of thing. who wants to be a sitting duck? being involved in crypto just puts a big X mark on your back if you're a usa citizen...

Please do not tell me that you guys did not expect this to happen! It was just a matter of time before IRS starts collecting data from the crypto exchanges. And just do not blame IRS, any other country will do the same. Even in my country, the government has mandated for the crypto exchanges to share there user data with the tex authority.

Us once you to understand one simple thing. If you are using cryptocurrency you got to pay taxes. They are slowly closing out all other avenues for crypto users to skip the taxes.
453  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cos Coin - Is this a Pyramid Scheme or something..? on: October 25, 2023, 04:02:22 PM
I've got a contact who's very excited about "cos coin", he wanted me to check it out, but it looks very suspect to me:

https://www.cosetek.com/

I can't get much clarity on how it works or what it's supposed to do. Does anyone know any more? He says you have to pay to join and those who sign other users up get payed as a reward, which imediatly rings alarm bells.

It's definitely a pyramid scheme in the disguise of crypto currency business. I would suggest to stay out of such program available in the crypto market.

Anytime you see some platforms asking money to join and get rewards for bringing in new people, is definitely a pyramid scheme and needs to be avoided.
454  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Shame on haters for claiming that crypto is widely used in terrorist financing! on: October 25, 2023, 03:10:21 PM
Dear OP, no one is blaming crypto apart from the governments.  But does that changed the fact that privacy cryptocurrency have made it a lot is your for the terrorist organisations to obtain or transfer their money from one place to another?

Criptocurrency should not be blamed but again this does not change the fact that NFT market has become a playground for money launderers to convert their black money into white.

Money should not be blamed. But that doesn't change the facts.
455  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Maybe I should have taken this risk earlier. on: October 24, 2023, 07:11:27 PM
Till now my parents are bearing the cost of my education, I have recently completed my college education and my parents wish me to complete my graduation by studying in a private university. We have a small cow farm and we have some cows in this farm out of which some months ago my father sold one cow and deposited about one and a half thousand dollars (I said the value in dollars for everyone's understanding) in the bank for my education. It will take about four to five months to get admission in the university. I didn't plan to do anything with the money I saved for my education but recently the price of bitcoin has increased by about 10 thousand dollars and seeing this increase I think that I should invest in bitcoin now instead of leaving the money in the bank for these four to five months. Although I think it's a bit late for me to invest. Maybe I should have invested when Bitcoin was 26 thousand dollars then maybe I could have made a good profit at this point but there is no point in regretting what I didn't do Of course I will think about the present now. I think the price of bitcoin can cross 40 thousand dollars so investing in bitcoin now will not be a wrong decision for me at all.

I would rather suggest not to invest that money into bitcoin. Because for short term investors, it is a gambling. You never know which direction the market is going to take. So if that money your father has saved for your college education, don't invest that money into bitcoin.

If you really want to invest in bitcoin, start small and use DCA method. If you have any source of income, use that money to invest in bitcoin in small amounts over a longer period of time.  Don't rush in the crypto market.
456  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ETF $IBTC REMOVED IN DTCC WEBSITE!! MANIPULATION COMING OUT? on: October 24, 2023, 06:45:49 PM
It's a big manipulation game ongoing with multiple high ticket people involved. The FUD is so organised that it was able to add a ticket in a stock exchange clearing website for public viewing. That's odd and concerning.

But I am sure that traders were able to scoop out some money from this FUD. We anyways can't control the whales and such organized manipulation game, rather we can simply ride with it to fill our pockets.
457  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Man Who Stole Over 51,680 Bitcoin on: October 24, 2023, 06:19:59 PM
Wrongdoings are wrongdoings, regardless of the fact that the Bitcoins were stolen from another illegal entity. Probably that's the reason he only got one year of imprisonment for stealing close to 3 billion dollars.

I really hope all hackers get their part of karma for stealing money. They are real threats to the society and with the advancement of internet, it has become even more lethal. Justice has to be served, today or tomorrow.
458  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How will it affect your life if bitcoin price comes to $1 million per bitcoin? on: October 23, 2023, 08:10:12 PM
How will it affect your life if bitcoin price comes to $1 million per bitcoin ?

I would become a millionaire! What else?

Will live a debt free life as I will be able to pay off all my debts. Will infuse capital into my business and create a safe deposit which will give me a passive income every month.

In a nutshell, my life will be sorted because I do not act impulsive to buy costly things just to show off.
459  Local / India / Re: Kerala HC Shields Innocent Crypto Traders From Account Freezes on: October 23, 2023, 07:26:20 PM
It's a great and welcoming change in the ecosystem. A lot of people in the past have got their account frozen due to cyber fraud. We have seen couple of such incidents in this forum too. It makes sense to withhold only the amount received through UPI payment and let the user use the banking services.

Great to see such decisions are coming in favor of crypto users. Especially when there is no legal framework available in the country.
460  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how fascinating this story is... on: October 23, 2023, 07:16:47 PM
I was reading some old posts and came across this thread where a user named Kevin(toasty). In the thread, he shared the incredible story of how he bought BTC259684.77 for just $2613, essentially acquiring them for a mere fraction of a cent each. It is a remarkable stroke of luck, and it got me wondering if he still holds onto those bitcoins.
Kevin also provided a detailed explanation of how he managed to obtain such a substantial amount of bitcoin at a lowest cost, including his strategy to buy from MT Gox exchange.
this story is like you won and all your funds robbed.

That's unfortunate for him. However what you will say on Bitcoin Pizza story? When Laszlo spent 10,000 bitcoins to buy two pizzas back in 2010. It's 312 million USD at today's rate.

In Kevin's story, it was robbed. In Laszlo's story, he spent that amount willingly. Not sure what I would have done if I was in the same position. Probably a regret for the rest of the life!
