441  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | ARDOR | Scalable Blockchain-as-a-Service Platform | Proof of Stake on: January 03, 2018, 10:04:18 PM
I am a bit surprised what a hog running the Ardor wallet is. It is using 10% of my RX480 GPU and 5% of my CPU, plus about 1 GB of memory.
442  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | ARDOR | Scalable Blockchain-as-a-Service Platform | Proof of Stake on: January 03, 2018, 11:43:45 AM

You would have to analyze/decompile the minergate binaries and prove that it does something suspicious. It's also probable that some other infection in your system is the culprit. I hope that eventually there is support for Ardor and Ignis from one of the major bitcoin hardware wallet providers. That would solve the theft problem. In the meantime what you can do to protect yourself is run the wallet software on Linux within a virtual environment (Vmware, Virtualbox). Also make sure your wallet passphrase is sufficiently strong and always clear your computer's clipboard if you copy/paste your passphrase. You can google how to do this. Whatever you copy remains in your computer's clipboard until you restart the machine.

Security is always the biggest "Achilles's heel" with crypto. We are in the early stages of the crypto revolution and as always all revolutions are messy and it always leaves a pile of victims behind.

Gotta say what bugs me about Ardor is that there is no way to set up a 2FA for the wallet. That sucks, in particular if you have a lot of coins like that unfortunate fella. In Crypto, you cannot be neurotic enough, and even then you could fall into a trap

There is account control straight in the core: http://nxtwiki.org/wiki/Account_Control

If I set this up for the ARDOR wallet will it allow it to forge?
443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | NEO Smart Economy⚡Now a Top 10 Cryptocurrency⚡| Official Thread |Updated Aug10 on: January 03, 2018, 11:32:26 AM
Question:

In order to earn GAS, do you stake NEO and stake GAS?

Thank's,
Joe

You stake NEO. And you don't need to keep the wallet open for this. You just need to have balance.

You just need to move your NEO to a wallet you control and you will start earning gas. Most exchanges won't reward you gas for holding it on the exchange, but a few do.
444  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCR] Decred - Community Governance | Bitcoin Devs | Lightning Network on: January 03, 2018, 11:28:07 AM
To start I love the Decred project and think it has a great future, but something i was thinking was that technically lets say the price went up a bunch, with the current ticket voting system couldnt some whales come in buy a ton of tickets and vote for things they know are bad for decred? I know that the point of buying the ticket is that your locking in an amount so you havee skin in the game but in the future couldnt say a bank buy a ton of tickets and deciede the fate with negative intentions? And couldnt it become so much for tickets that normal people couldnt afford it

The short answer: no, such an attack is not really feasible. There's been a number of discussions/thought exercises on that topic, and basically it comes down to "no". The protocol is designed to defend against such things. You have to consider the number of tickets that can be bought in a block, the amount of DCR such an attack would cost, the amount of DCR in circulation, and of course, the difficulty adjustment algo of PoS in and of itself.

Not to mention the very unique manner in which PoW miners and PoS voters create and validate blocks.

It might be possible if you had unlimited amount of money: hundreds of millions, and it would drive the price of decred shares to the stratosphere. Possible; yes. Feasible or realistic; no.
445  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCR] Decred - Community Governance | Bitcoin Devs | Lightning Network on: January 02, 2018, 08:20:01 PM
the year started with another milestone the 200,000th block was mined today  Cool

https://explorer.dcrdata.org/block/200000

And a slow but nice price rally for the last few days.

I don't think we can replicate last year's early January mooning but it's sure nice to see it reach a decent price finally

I don't consider it a decent price if DASH has a higher market cap than Decred, but it is improving.

I say let them have the day off, it's New Years day!

I can not understand the prospects of this coin, for what it was released? NXT went to the correction, will not we see the same thing from Ardor?

If you are not willing to do any research then I recommend you not consider this as an investment and move on.
449  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | ARDOR | Scalable Blockchain-as-a-Service Platform | Proof of Stake on: December 31, 2017, 06:18:08 PM
Hey i got a quick question, if we hold ARDR in a wallet on Bittrex or Poloniex, do we receive any free coins?  Or is that simply NXT.   Thanks

No, only if you hold NXT.
450  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ardor: Lisk/Eth's biggest competition . 1billion potential cap(10x returns) on: December 31, 2017, 04:52:04 PM
Ardor 2.0.9 is released! This is the first production release of the Ardor Blockchain Platform!

Download it from https://www.jelurida.com/ (Ardor downloads) or https://bitbucket.org/Jelurida/ardor/downloads/

The Ardor Genesis Snapshot has been taken at Nxt blockchain height of 1636363.

The Genesis timestamp is set to 00:00:00 UTC, Jan 1st 2018. Everyone with ARDR balance >= 1000 is invited to setup a node and start forging. Block generation will start automatically when the Genesis timestamp is reached. In the meantime, please check your balances and report any discrepancies from what you expected.

The first start after installation may take a few minutes, do not interrupt!

My coins is in Bittrex, how can I know if it's swapped? also I have more than 1000 so what is computer requirement to setup a node?

Is it like mining?

Ask bittrex for your coins. You can run Ardor client even on raspi, not need for big resources (java 8 must be installed). There is no mining, there is POS and forging.

How much we can gain monthly from forging for 1,000 Ardor ?

and we need to keep the power on 24/7 for the most profit right?

You probably get about 1 reward a year, however you would be supporting the network.
451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Shift price by end of 2017. on: December 29, 2017, 06:56:55 PM
So guys is it good time to put some more money (about 0,1 BTC) to shift for short term? Maybe for longterm who knows

What exactly is happening by the end of the 2017 with this coin?

people expeting release of phantom.. it is very near.. when released... holy shit...  20$ in a while!

Yea, coin could easily double or tripple in the near term. And possibly a 10x in 2018, who knows with crypto.

watch out for the "princes" Tongue

What do you mean?
453  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DCR] Decred - Community Governance | Bitcoin Devs | Lightning Network on: December 29, 2017, 11:29:24 AM
With Lightning Network, Privacy Feature and the Atomic Swap... DCR is sure thing a hit by 2018 Smiley

This along with their superior governance model should bring good things in 2018.
454  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Shift price by end of 2017. on: December 29, 2017, 11:25:54 AM
Really looking forward to Shift growth in 2018. Exciting times ahead.
455  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: December 29, 2017, 11:20:31 AM
That only happened because the price of bitcoin went up, in terms of bitcoin price we are at the same levels we were at in
2015/2016.

At the begining of 2017 .00251000 satoshi was $2.37, now .00251000 is $35.36, it's important to realize this, that factom
hasnt reaallly done that well this year in terms of price. We are really at the end of a bear market in terms of bitcoin price.

But that isnt a bad thing actually it's a good thing, means we have a solid floor and can only really go up from here.

Problem is that factom just doenst have that POP factor like other altcoins, it just simply isnt on peoples radar.

I feel like there is such a narrow focus with new money coming into crypto, all of it focused on the top 20 coins and thats it! Just
go look on youtube, every so called "expert" (that got into crypto probably in 2017  Roll Eyes ) has their top 5-10 coins, and factom is never
on any of them.

Friend, you're just reading my mind! I watch videos of such "experts" and if I see there Cardano or Bitcoin Cash or some other shitсoin, I immediately press the dislike and close it.

I do not see fundamental reviews, only technical analysis of pumped coins.

As this space matures and institutional money starts flowing in, they will look at fundamentals instead of this momentum only a white paper craze. In the end working projects like factom will win out in the end.

457  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | ARDOR | Scalable Blockchain-as-a-Service Platform | Proof of Stake on: December 28, 2017, 11:57:10 PM
Will I get something by keeping ardor or you get Ings only from holding Nxt? Now my Ardor coins on bittrex are locked will I get some Ings or not?

You only get INGS form holding NXT. Expect many to dump NXT after the INGS drop. Hopefully it will flow into ARDOR.

Is it still possible to claim QGUP? Wasn't watching this thread and read about a claim that is possible for GUP holders.

Yes, the later realized they did not give owners enough time to convert. They extended it for something like 6 months - year.

can you provide a link where they state this? many hold GUP and didn't have time to do the swap.

I thought I saw on this forum, maybe look back the past 3 or 4 pages or so.
459  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | ARDOR | Scalable Blockchain-as-a-Service Platform | Proof of Stake on: December 28, 2017, 11:28:01 AM
hello everyone !
I hope someone can help me because I have just downloaded NXT and ARDR wallet. I am ok with NXT wallet, i haven't had problems and i can only receive and send NXT, no other coins (am i right?). But i have problems with Ardor wallet beacuse it says that i'm on a testnet so i shouldn't use my real passcode and saying that the testnet peer port is 26874 (what does it mean?), so i haven't been able to access my ARDR wallet. how can i do now? Tomorrow (28 dec) there will be 2 airdrops? one is ignis (number of ignis=n of NXT) and one is ARDR coin (number of ARDR coins = n of ARDR tokens)?

please help my understand all thi situation!!! =((((

For now, the real ARDR should be kept within your NXT wallet under assets. The ARDR wallet and testnet are just for fun and testing right now...Early January, the ARDR asset in your NXT wallet will be converted on a 1 to 1 basis. I hope this clarifies the situation.

so i can send ARDR even to a NXT wallet which starts with NXT-....(exc)? beacause i downloaded NXt wallet today, is this functionality supported even on the most recent version of the NXT wallet? I can't find a section in which i can see my ARDR balance
thank you in advance

Yes, that is what I did and the ARDOR arrived under assets.
460  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | NEO Smart Economy⚡Now a Top 10 Cryptocurrency⚡| Official Thread |Updated Aug10 on: December 28, 2017, 11:24:53 AM
Hold your NEO.

NEO hasn't seen a massive pump like some of the other coins have these last few months. That's fine - sooner or later it will be recognized.

NEO to $500!

Wasn't neo (Earlier Antshares) worth .2 usd at one point?...

Pretty sure the bottom was closer to .1 USD. It hasn't pumped by like 5x in the past few months like some coins - $40 in August.

It has come a long way. $500 by sometime in 2018 is my conservative prediction.

Yes, it was close to .1 USD.
Yea, it likely hasn't pumped much due to China FUD.
