4462  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Man won 12 times in lottery on: July 22, 2019, 12:21:03 PM
This is actually interesting. Something that everyone thought to be mathematically impossible was cracked down by one man and proceeded to win the lottery 14 times! This goes to show that with that kind of intelligence and dedication, one can exploit the wonders of almost everything that can be computed!

Interesting that the formula and the algorithm are hidden in public. I guess the government somehow controlled the data and secured it to prevent abuse from people doing it.

Are we talking about the probability here? Its already computed and there are so many set of numbers before you win even if you are genius in math. Well, you still need the luck and if that man really won 12 times then he should win more because he already know how to play it. I don't want to be stressed because of solving the numbers, its really hard and not easy.

Maybe he or his team developed some kind of algorithm that would limit their number choices. Nevertheless, the number of tickets required to fullfill such need lots of investors! But come on man, winning the lottery 14 times goes to show his unparalleled genius and skill compared to anyone.
4463  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You don't loose if you don't encash on: July 21, 2019, 04:07:39 PM
Hey  Smiley

I once came across a time when I was unsure where the market is going to take us , thus I brought at a very high price , unfortunately the price came down as quickly as it climbed up.

The reason I believe I haven't lost even a single penny is because I believe you cannot loose when you don't encash.

Therefore I still believe holding for the long term can actually help you .

Taking your quote against you, you don't also earn without withdrawing your bitcoins!

It is essential that you set a limitation, cap, and a goal on your investments to know when to cash them out. Long-term investment and holding may yield you income but you may miss opportunities arising from sudden spikes and increase on its price due to its high volatility. You may want also to consider short-term investment as it may render you income relatively better than a long-term HODL.
4464  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Gambler's Fallacy (The key to unbiased gambling) on: July 19, 2019, 11:55:42 PM

We're definitely not bad at gambling.
He might not able to see it yet he do generalize in all sorts of things when it comes to gambling.Even on the simplest decision

in life do correspond some sort of gamble which we would really need up to make such selection into things.

False, humans are awful at gambling: it’s a scientific fact whether you like it or not. It’s the reason casinos do so well and why the casino business is a billion dollar industry. Here is one of many huge articles containing numerous studies highlighting the psychology behind gambling.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3858640/

This is a good read and a nice article which composed of explaining the psychology behind gambling. But what makes gambling contagious and dangerous at the same time is the addiction and satisfaction that we garner especially when we experience a winning streak in the game. This creates an biased impression that gambling may be favorable to you, resulting to a continuous betting of your money. From this experience, you would deem to think that every bet that you make will garner you returns of cash.

That is where the problem exists. When you have that kind of mindset, it would slowly cloud your judgement and decision making skills which would aggravate your situation into losing your cash. After that, it would cascade thinking that the only way to overcome your losses is to gamble again. From this alone, this creates an endless cycle wherein you gamble and gamble until every cash is drained.
4465  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Play poker to train trading on: July 19, 2019, 11:43:58 PM
<snip...>

While I do respect your opinion, I still view poker as something that is more randomized compared to trading due to a number of reasons.

First, poker is a game wherein cards are randomized by a deck of cards with someone dealing the cards. Depending on the cards shown on the table, you make your bet pairing your hand. If you think that the pool is weak, you can discard your hand and wait for the next deal. On the other hand, you may also play the bluffing game by letting the opponents think that you have the strongest set of combinations of cards paired with the existing pool.

But what separates poker from trading is the manner of risking such. Although both have risks that are difficult to manage, in trading you rely on historical data, market situation, external and internal news in the country, etc. as it is multifactorial. Someone who is not knowledgeable in gambling can win loads of cash purely by luck. In trading, I doubt that happens since even experienced traders get bankrupted at the end of the cycle.
4466  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't fall for this Trump's statement about Bitcoin. This is bullish! on: July 19, 2019, 08:56:46 PM
Don't fall for this Trump's statement about Bitcoin. This is actually bullish! “Giving attention” to crypto period, tells me it’s game on. Never trade cryptocurrency based on the news and statements like that. Do you remember the statements from the JP Morgan? If you learned something from that, you should seek for every opportunity and buy any dip that comes (if it comes). That's how the big players do their thing. You want to buy cheap coins? Make a negative statement about it and buy cheaper. If you panic sell, they will get your bitcoins before it goes further to the upside. You will be shaked out and kicked out of this train. Don't fall for it. This is bullish in my opinion. Bitcoin clearly got some attention from mr. Trump (or his team) clearly, it's so important that he tweets about it. If it wasn't important he wouldn't bother to write anything about bitcoin. He also didn't say that he is against bitcoin. He just said he is not a fan of btc. A big difference. He likes to change his mind very often on his twitter! Trump has many followers and he mentioned bitcoin to them. Any advertising is a good advertising! So again, don't fall for it. I think you should do the opposite of what the small traders would do in this case. Buy the dip!

Regardless of what he says, I do not actually listen to him. Neither do I care about his lates rants and updates especially with regards to cryptocurrency since this is a field that is beyond the scope of their understanding and knowledge. Although he may be a successful entreprenuer and investor, I doubt that he has the means of understanding cryptocurrency given that he has a country to serve and work for.

His tweets might be viewed as a negative consequence that will further increase the stigma on bitcoin on most people who are not knowledgeable about the subject. This may render negative implications as it will discourage potential investors who are willing to invest their money in cryptocurrencies.
4467  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will there be physical casinos operating with cryptos in the future? on: July 19, 2019, 01:40:06 PM
My thoughts here, I wonder if in the future, physical casinos will use cryptos

I know casinos use coins to spend inside and them people can exchange these coins to fiat money again

But maybe a casino can use cryptos inside, you buy a card with BTC or LTC for example, and you can play with this card

Have you ever think about his? What is you opinion guys?

In my opinion, it will defeat the purpose of online gambling- which is to provide convenience and anonymity among users in the gambling scene. The reason on why most people gamble online nowadays is for their safety. To be able to use cryptocurrencies as the medium for gambling makes it more convenient to people who possess such currency and resource.

I also believe that people are still open to the idea of going to casinos and exchange their resources for BTC as this may also be an avenue or like a community for people to discuss matters relating to bitcoin, and not to gambling perse.
4468  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Bitcointalk and Me on: July 17, 2019, 06:11:07 PM

4469  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao vs Keith Thurman on July 20 on: July 16, 2019, 05:20:44 PM
The long awaited fight and everyone is hyped about the upcoming match between Pacquiao and Thurman! In my opinion, Pacquiao would definitely win the fight especially that his conditioning and preparation are unparalleled compared to any other boxer that I have ever seen. With his age comes speed, strength, patience, and experience in the ring which would contribute to his winning.

Although I do respect Thurman and his boxing skills, underestimating a world-class and legendary boxer in the ring would be his pitfall in the match. Almost every boxer who fought against Pacquiao were overwhelmed with his agility, power, and speed in the ring.
4470  Economy / Economics / Re: Does China Control Bitcoin? on: July 15, 2019, 03:23:30 PM
<snip...>

No one takes control over the resource, supply, and demand of bitcoin as its nature is purely decentralized which makes it value highly volatile compared to other investment methods available currently. Assuming that bitcoin is regulated or controlled by a third-party or by the government, it will slowly lose its value in the market. These are the reasons on why bitcoin is highly regarded as a 'double-edged sword' investment that could either make or break your profits depending on its value.

based on what I read in the news that most miners in the world come from China because their area has many cold highlands and cheap electricity costs, indirectly China actually helps Bitcoin price movements but does not control Bitcoin.  I feel that actually now the Chinese government is very stupid, if they want to recognize Bitcoin I think they will have the opportunity to control Bitcoin.

China has created a significant impact on bitcoin's price since the country compromises most of the population of miners in the cryptocurrency field but they have no full control over the regulation of its price.
4471  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The time of seriousness is disappearing on: July 15, 2019, 06:35:34 AM
In all honesty, this outcome is to be expected. With the recent significant increase on bitcoin's price, it resisted fairly slow and succumb to a drastic decrease. Rather than feeling down, take this time as an opportunity to purchase while prices are on the red. This kind of situation is relatively common and most of us already experienced this kind of situation.

To all fairly new investors in the world of cryptocurrency, let this outcome not sway your decision-making skills and your interest in bitcoin. While there may be times where we experience gold, expect times of dark to come.
4472  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What causes a person to become intensely addicted to gambling? on: July 13, 2019, 02:39:03 AM
actually simple, when you win a gamble, someone wants to come back again for a victory that is bigger than yesterday. if you lose, someone will come back again to take revenge for yesterday's defeat. both sides make people always think of going back to the gambling table, because of their own desires.
In short. Revenge gambling + Greediness.

If you win this day, you feel that you are lucky and then you will come back to the casino to gamble (greed). Now if the table turns down to you and you lose today, you will feel that you need to get your money back and will gamble again until you lose your money again (revenge). This is the reason why gamblers are getting addicted into gambling.

Gambling creates this endless cycle wherein an individual gets stuck on a continuous loop of winning and losing, getting lost in the illusion that he/she can overcome his/her losses by betting again. Due to this conflict, one may think that he is actually earning cash but in reality, his losses are overwhelmingly more than his winnings. In order to overcome this adversity, it is highly advisable that you set-up a limit in terms of your betting to avoid betting more than you planned for.
4473  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Crime Effect of Gambling - Your thoughts! on: July 12, 2019, 06:21:17 PM
yes, more or less like that, because gambling forces us to be winners. as long as we can't win, surely curiosity will continue to be in our minds, because not always gambling people have capital, they will certainly do various things to get capital to gamble.
STOP gambling ,, Grin Grin Grin
You may see gambling as a bad thing but others might see it as a good thing and they are using it to make money. I don't think those people doing crime to gamble are doing the right thing but that do not mean that is the only things that people do with their money. Crime is there and people do crime because of greed and selfishness.
For me personally, I believe immoral activities are certainly based on each individual and it does not have anything to do with gambling. Nevertheless, from some of the further research that I made, I got to understand that, these things mentioned are very much applicable in most casinos; drug dealings, prostitution and even some casinos where the owners are into some shady stuffs. Well, just want to get to know what you guys think about this. Do you think Casino is like a hiding place for perpetrators of crime or casino on its own, ushers in a huge level of immoral activities by default?

I disagree on some parts. These kinds of shady deals happen on any place and not just on a casino or any gambling venue. Unfortunately, threads like these are one of the reasons on why there is a stigma towards the gambling industry as a whole. Surely, it created a place where addiction may be potentially acquired but everything stems from the decision of each individual, and not because of the venue itself.

It is actually relative to an individual's experience on how he/she views gambling. People who lost on gambling would generally view it as someone which is dangerous while others see it as a way of earning quick cash!
4474  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What 🛠are the advantages 🔝of playing poker💵 on: July 12, 2019, 04:11:23 AM
Can you share where you can play some free poker tournaments?
I tried playing poker but most of my games are lost, lost games are a lot than winning games. But I learnt before about being patience on poker, and don't be a greedy always.

I also read before here that if you are perfect can control your emotion while playing poker, it's an additional advantage for you, like for bluffing, or like wearing some eyeglasses to hide your eyes from your opponents.
Winning against the house is absolutely at very thin chances and this is to find out that poker or any gambling games are needing pure luck otherwise, we'll just be losing at all. That is why I've never engaged more in gambling cause I don't have that luck in me.

Poker, in general, requires luck and skill at the same time in order to win at games. Mostly, people would attempt to flop or guess the cards of others but it still primarily depend on your hand and the pool. Although winning against the house may be difficult, it is possible with the right experience and skill.

Poker is all about experience by combining the time you spent and strategizing your cards. Most poker players that I know are successful but they also reached rock bottom throughout their journey.
4475  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin believers/investors are foolish or low IQ people ? on: July 11, 2019, 03:28:27 PM
Few months back when I was reading this forum, somebody said Bitcoin investors and supporters just think of Bitcoin $5000 or $10,000 or $40,000. They do not know anything.

$1 to $5000 in 10 years and Bitcoin people still say Bitcoin is an investment and not super-HYIP or ponzi.

My website: https://dangerousmother.com (for real world out there)

Talks of Bitcoin as global currency and Bitcoin taking over Gold and Silver.

Just like billionaire Warren Buffet who keeps saying buy Apple inc. shares and other shares and thereby pushing DOW Jones to 25000 with the help of financial cartel because people are too foolish and they believe in $1000 to $10,000 in 12 years.

Most people that say such stuff did not personally experience investing/purchasing bitcoin as an investment alternative. People tend to degrade bitcoin due to its created stigma and reputation in different social platforms without experiencing it personally.

Instead of taking it as an insult, take it as an opportunity to teach them about cryptocurrencies in general and about its potential benefits. Although the risk may be higher compared to other investment methods, the returns are far better in a relatively short amount of time.

4476  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why does Warren Buffett hate bitcoin? on: July 11, 2019, 10:13:18 AM
If you understand the evolution of money and tulip investing, it all makes sense.

One of the many reasons on why Warren Buffet is against cryptocurrencies is due to its inherent and store of value. He believes that bitcoin does not possess any physical value compared to money, gold bars, real estate, lands, etc.
Another thing, bitcoin (to be specific) has a high volatile value compared to the ones that I mentioned above. Successful investors like him rely on the conventional way of investing with relatively minimal risks to consider.

Although there may be reasons on why he doubts cryptocurrencies, we should not rely his decisions solely.
4477  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What importance is kyc In gambling section on: July 11, 2019, 03:55:04 AM
KYCs defeat the purpose of online gambling as it removes the anonymity aspect of betting. Supplementing your personal information renders a risk especially that gambling websites are prone to malicious hacks and scams.

In my opinion, the purpose of KYCs in gambling sites may protect the security of these websites especially that they have control as to whom is playing on their games. This may be an extra line of security provided in the website but with the expense of having fewer gamblers.

Overall, if the gambling website has a KYC function, it is best to avoid and look for another website that offers no KYC system at all for your security purpose.
4478  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Anung plano mo pag bumaba/bumagsak ulit price ni bitcoin? on: July 10, 2019, 07:59:45 PM
Just as title says. Whats your plan incase unti-unting bumaba/bumagsak price ni bitcoin?
change to fiat na?

4479  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: The most important part of investing in bitcoin is timing. on: July 10, 2019, 11:55:09 AM
again with the creation cost! when will you start seeing that cost of mining changes with the price not the other way around.
price goes up > mining becomes more profitable > more miners join > hashrate rises > difficulty rises > cost of mining increases
price drops > mining becomes less profitable > some miners leave > hashrate drops > difficulty readjusts (decreases) > cost of mining decreases

additionally you are not talking about "investing" you are talking about day trading here. an investor shouldn't care about these short term fluctuations. you invest long term and timing in that case is not as important specially since "investors" invest their idle money that is not in anything.

In a broader perspective, day trading may also be considered as short-term investing. Although most investors have set their goals in their investments, there are times that they tend to withdraw their investments depending on the current market situation. Short and long-term investments have different time schemes but they rely on the same objective, which is to profit.

that's right bro. but there is also more important, namely capital to invest, especially money. because I myself have experienced it a few weeks ago. I see BTC prices going up
. but I have lacked capital. because my capital is running low because the price of the coins that I buy always goes down in price.

Before you invest, always consider your current capital and limitations. With cryptocurrencies as our primary investment, make sure that you leave at least a portion of your capital because of its high volatility. You'll never know when its price may pump or decrease!
4480  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What are the most unusual games you played in a crypto casino? on: July 09, 2019, 05:30:23 PM
What are the most unusual (or interesting) games you played in a crypto casino?

Basing from my experience, I have yet to encounter any unusual or unconventional games in a crypto casino. I would not risk my own hard-earned cash and other resources to a foreign method that I will definitely regret and blame assuming that I lost.

The term 'unusual' is a generally a relative word depending on the individual's perspective on which he/she finds unusual. What may be common to others might be unusual to some.

Just to give you an example (this is outside the crypto-casino scenario), back when I was a kid, I tried betting my money in spiders fighting themselves to death while hanging on a stick. I heard that mostly Filipinos tend to experience this specific experience and I consider that one of the unusual ways of betting money.
