2 atoms are walkin' down the road.
One looks to the other and goes, "I think I just lost an electron!"
Stunned, the other replies, "Are you positive?"

Haha it's something we've wanted to do for a while but your email might have been the gentle nudge to the coders that was needed. Honestly can't say but thanks for the feeback regardless.

Excellent!  I nudge with the best of them.

4475  Economy / Goods / Magic the Gathering Cards For Sale - Mostly 3rd/4th edition, some others on: August 03, 2011, 01:01:30 AM
Hello.  I am offering to sell some of my Magic the Gathering cards.  Someone had communicated interested in purchasing some of them.  Unfortunately, he apparently had gotten sick and I have not heard from him since.  Hope the dude is ok!

Anyway, I began playing magic cards around when 4th edition was released.  I was about 10-11 at the time.  I played casually with friends (mostly, it was my older brother and his friends) for about 2 years, and the cards have since been stored in those plastic card containers with the plastic-hinge lids that you find at card shops.  If you are wondering about wear and tear, my cards are generally all in very good condition.  There may be some very minor dust/dirt accumulation on the surface from fingers touching them while playing games, but other than that, there are no creases and there is very little wear and tear on the edges.  Overall, my cards are in very good condition since I took pride in my collection.

Below is a list of the most interesting (or nostalgic) cards I could find.  I will accept lot offers as well as individual offers in BTC.  You must also pay shipping.  Prices are negotiable, but keep in mind that nostalgia and single vs. multiple cards may impact my accepted value of the cards.

4476  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So since no Bitcoin service can be trusted anymore ... on: August 02, 2011, 11:40:32 PM
It's not trust or distrust, it's the complete absence of any attempt to find out more about how these exchanges/banks/wallets, operate.

For fuck's sake, there should be a fucking mob of people with lit torches hounding the exchanges about whether or not they speculate on their own exchanges, the real state of darkpools, a written roll back policy, written policies on how YOUR bitcoins are being held (can they be invested etc, who is overseeing it?, if they are being used for business expenses, how much?  If they are being invested, how so?).  But no, no one asks anything, and anyone who suggests that they shouldn't be trusted gets labeled a troll.

I wrote this post a few weeks ago about what us former poker players learned about money + limited regulation + interwebs.  It spells trouble way more than not.  The first poster was Tradehill's owner agreeing that we should be putting the screws to Exchanges, demanding transparency whenever possible.

You should be VERY concerned about a "bank run" on various BTC exchanges.  I would bet an appendage of your choosing that some of these exchanges are not keeping 100% of bitcoin deposits in earnest.  That they are liquidating them to pay for business related costs, optimistically, and less optimistically, they are cashing them out for hookers and blow.

You should be VERY concerned about having money on an exchange where the amount of bitcoins being held far exceeds their profit (a lot of exchanges have sub 100 btc volume per day).  The only exchange that would have a problem walking away with all of their bitcoin deposits would be MtGox simply because they are the largest.  If I'm sitting on $500k USD of bitcoins, and my site is only making $100/day profit, you can't fucking tell me that there is no temptation to walk off.  Given the steady volume decline of the last few weeks we are in this situation for many exchanges, and if not, we'll be there soon.

Stop being fucking naive and drop the rose tinted glasses.  Just because you're asking hard questions and are skeptical, doesn't mean you are anti-bitcoin.

Bingo!  And honestly, I don't see the problem with having a face attached to your BTC at the moment anyway.  If I wanted to do business with someone, I'd want their phone number and full name so I don't get hosed.  After all, the point is honesty and trust in a free market, right?  Put up or shut up.

Take a new avenue toward life and realize that with freedom comes sacrifice and a will to make change happen

With freedom comes sacrifice?  Freedom is dependent on the constraint of sacrifice?  Interesting...and thought provoking
4479  Economy / Speculation / Re: A lot of bad news recently for bitcoin, IMO it is going to start to hurt. on: August 02, 2011, 07:12:23 PM
I'm open to suggestions on how to get Microsoft to design a reasonably secure operating system. Better people than I have been trying for years without success.

I guess what I am trying to get at and trying not to be argumentative about is that the Bitcoin community can't just say, "ah it's windows fault, tell them to fix their security issues, after all bitcoin has never been hacked" a better question to seek answers to is "What can the bitcoin community do to protect potential consumers against the in-vulnerabilities of windows?"  so for the best answer is a hand jammed procedure about taking wallets offline, encrypting them and using live cd's when accessing the wallet... I would venture to say that is impractical for a great majority of the people that are needed to adopt this technology in the long run.  Again, I don't know the answer but I suspect there are a lot of smart people out there with ideas that should seriously be considered weighing the technical feasibility and the ease of use for an end user, security should be higher priority up until you get to a point such as "I forgot my password so I just lost my life savings"

Additionally people will need mobile wallets they can use in every day retail as a user can't tell a store clerk "I'll send you the BTC when I get home, Thanks!" lol .... and that is a whole new ballpark relating to security which will be needed as well for general acceptance.

For the time being, we should be hitting up sites like www.Bitmunchies.com is mass numbers.  Security isn't as much of an issue if you want to sell your BTC right away -- then, responsibility to be safe and secure falls largely upon the merchant (which he should be doing anyway if it's a business).  Besides...if I can run my errands in a few seconds online without paying for gas and spending the extra time, that's a damn good reason for me to buy some BTC at an exchange and immediately use them to purchase tangible goods.  This increases demand, gets the currency circulating, and bounces the value of BTC upward.  I think if people saw this happening and thought, "Hey, these guys are paying the same they would if they went to a store, but pay for no gas, spend less time, are not required to input sensitive credit card information, and have their order shipped right to their door!" then that will spark interest.  And, you don't really have to worry about losing you BTCs....they'll be spent soon anyway.
4480  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Important Announcement Regarding the Mybitcoin.com Downtime on: August 02, 2011, 08:50:06 AM
Guys please... Think about the real Tom Williams skilled enough to create a website such as "mybitcoin" and has been running this site for a long time now, In other words he knows how bitcoin works and has the skills. Do you really believe there is no backup and buy into the FBI story?? come on he has probably been around bitcoin longer than most of us here going by the amount of time the site has been up and running. Sorry im not buying this at all....

Exactly.  It's far more plausible he ran with them Sad
