I think you've been *smoking* some joints.

Aw get an imagination.

If you have an extra, I'll take one in exchange for a sense of humor that I happen to have lying around -- I think you could use one Wink

I used it all up in my original post  Sad
4542  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin version 0.3.24 released on: July 12, 2011, 11:40:41 PM
Really?  I've been using 0.3.23 for a while and I've had to pay the transaction fee on every single transaction except for about 5/100.  For me, the *rare cases* are when it doesn't make me pay a fee.  Did something change in 0.3.24?

Care to share an example transaction so we can see why?

I can only guess you're making payments with outputs smaller than 0.01 BTC?

I made a ~6 BTC deposit and was prompted a 'minimum' fee of .03 ...
4543  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin version 0.3.24 released on: July 12, 2011, 11:37:31 PM
I don't care that there's a fee.  I have mine set to 0.01 for all transactions, anyway.  just STOP SAYING there is no minimum fee when clearly there is.  It's confusing.
Its also confusing when people say there is a minimum fee.  The satoshi client forces you to apply a fee on transactions only in very rare cases when your transaction looks like spam.

If very rare means 100% of all sending transactions I have ever done, then yes.  It is extremely rare.

Orbit,

Not sure if your are interested, but I have 2 unclosed marketplace adds.

1.)  I am interested in selling a buttload of N64 games -- cartridges with their original boxes.

2.)  I have a never-used Edelbrock 4 bbl. carburetor, 2 never-used black, vinyl seat covers, and 1 seat back.  Great if you have or know somebody with a classic car (originally intended for use in my 1966 mustang, until I sold it).
4545  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I am willing to argue public education has ruined this country... on: July 12, 2011, 10:23:25 PM
I've read that book and Gatto really doesn't promote a true system to replace the old system that was adopted from the Prussian model of the 1880s, which was unfortunate.  The old way to schooling needs to go.  As someone who survived the public school system I can attest to its lack of worth in our modern age.  It was created for the express purpose of creating obedient worker bees that would work in soul-crushing repetitive labor positions.  Any immoral rationalized justification for this has long past in the realm of economic necessity.

End the obsession of standardized testing and make school about inspiring children to learn.  If you do that they'll do most of the rest of the work.  Treat them like little adults.  Allow teachers to discipline and remove disruptive students - it is an institution of learning, not a day care.  And spend MORE money on those identified as exceptional rather than on the mentally impaired, for they will be the leaders of the next generation.

I especially agree with this last part.  If people with <70 IQ (mentally retarded) are separated and given special accommodations, than those >130 IQ (mentally gifted) should also be separated and given special accommodations.

This thread is soo blashphmies, i dont know of any religion thats states that humans have the power to pray to have the choice to where they go. Oh wait mormans....thats it OP must be morman. Smiley

When you think, "I want to move my arm," and then you do it, that is a mental thought having influence on physical reality.  Mental stuff affects physical stuff all the time.  It's not blasphemous.  It's logical that thoughts have direct influence on physical reality and vice versa.

In the book, "The Intention Experiment," a professor hooked up a plant to a polygraph machine.  He then had the intention (in the form of a thought) to burn one of the plants leaves.  This caused the plant to register a spike on the polygraph.  This experiment was repeated and tested...the difference was, the plant only registered a spike on the polygraph when the experimenter had true intention (as opposed to false intention -- thinking he was going to burn the plant's leaves but was not actually going to do so).  In a similar experiment, a plant was again hooked up to a polygraph machine.  This time, a machine was put in place that would, at a random time, release a tub of brine shrimp into a vat of boiling water.  Despite the randomness of the release time, the plant registered a spike on the polygraph immediately prior to the machine releasing the brine shrimp.  In other words, it appears as though somehow, the plant was "aware" that the machine was about to release the brine shrimp into a vat of boiling water.

Reality is stranger than fiction  Cheesy

4548  Economy / Services / Re: Selling jingles/soundbytes .wav or .mp3 on: July 12, 2011, 08:56:28 PM
As far as samples go, probably your best bet is to just upload them somewhere and post the download link here on the board, that way others who read your thread don't have to specifically PM you for samples.

Regarding the work, that sounds fine but we're a donation funded show so 6btc/m isn't really do-able - I'll touch base with you once we get  a bit further in, thanks for the reply.

Here are a few samples...

Regarding the price, don't worry.  If you like what you hear, we can work something out.

We're casually looking for some original intro/outro instrumentals for our show BitTalk, and may have some additional work down the line - I'd love some samples of your work - what are you looking for in cost?

Sorry, but I'm not exactly sure how to send samples on the forum.  If you pm me I can upload them to rapidshare.com.  The download link expires after a certain period of time though, so perhaps you know a better way.  In terms of cost, it really depends on the length and complexity you are looking for.  Obviously, something that is as simple as a 10 second, single-instrument sound byte will be cheaper than the same 10 second sound byte with 2-3 instruments and drums.  I would say on average, 1 BTC per 10 seconds of audio at average complexity seems fair.  This includes the time it takes to write a soundbyte, experiment with various tone sounds, record each part, and mix/edit each part.  I take pride in my work as a musician.  But, keep in mind that the sound samples I have are from full-length songs that I have written and recorded.  I have not written sound samples specifically for businesses before, but I will guarantee a soundbyte you like.

Hello.  I'm a long-time musician (piano 12+ years, guitar 13+ years) and am looking to create and sell jingles/soundbytes for people looking to add some flare to their advertising.  I have a Cubase recording program (complete with drum and beat processing), a professional-grade guitar effects processor that can dream up any sound you can think of, as well as a professional Yamaha keyboard with over 1,500 different sounds and tones.  I'm a music writer by nature and have an excellent grasp on rhythm and song structure.  I will create original sounds and songs for you at a reasonable, negotiable rate (depending on length and complexity).  If interested, post a reply or PM me.  I can provide samples of recordings upon request.

Edit:  Although I placed samples in my 3rd post on this thread, I re-posted them here for convenience.

Check out this thread:

If you do nothing else but adjust the powertune settings in the ATI Control Center to 5%, you will be amazed at the results.

Personally I try and keep my temps below 70*C

Thanks!  Will experiment...
4554  Bitcoin / Mining / 6970 specs -- request help on: July 11, 2011, 06:53:45 PM
Hi,

I'm currently running a 6970.  For the last month, I was doing about 385 m/hash at 960mhz clock/1250 mem, avg. 73 degrees C,  fan speed 70%, 1.17V.  I noticed that it would freeze every once in a while, so yesterday I scaled back to 930/1250, 1.106V, fan speed 70%, running at a cool 61 degrees C.   My current m/hash is in the mid 360s.

My questions are...

1.)  Do you consider this a wise decision?  My motivation for scaling back is to protect the longevity of my card.  The drop in m/hash seems negligible.

2.)  When running catalyst control center, how much of a problem is it for a card to be running at 97-98% activity 24/7?    I know these high activity levels are normal when mining, but do activity levels factor into longevity independent of things like temp, voltage, etc.?

3.)  I adjusted the voltage from 1.17 to 1.10 in ASUS smartdoctor.  How does this relate to the power control settings in CCC?  Is it safe to turn the power control settings in CCC up to +20%?  Currently, I have it at +13%.

Thanks in advance to all who reply.
4555  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Current Volume on: July 11, 2011, 07:05:20 AM
Thank you.  That makes sense then.  I was off by the ratio of BTC:USD.

Hey, sorry, don't want you to get that impression.

bitcoincharts.com is what I for easy reference. Never seen TradeHill get even close to mtgox. I just felt let down when I thought you might have a point in the OP and then I checked stats and they were nothing out of the ordinary. It made it seem like you were a TradeHill shill or whatever.

Again, my bad.

No worries.  I'm disappointed too.  I started doing this post-gox crash, and, naturally, I now prefer TradeHill.  I had read on here how the volume at Gox is ten times greater, so when I started using the ticker and saw similar volumes, I thought something good was happening.  My bad as well.
4556  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Current Volume on: July 11, 2011, 05:27:53 AM
uhhh .... 'the joint' must have just smoked ... the joint

Ok, so explain to me where I made my error when it says 52,000+ for volume when I check Tradehill API ticker, and 46,000+ for volume when I check Mt. Gox API ticker.  I sure hope you guys aren't the Bitcoin welcoming committee.

Did you look at: https://api.tradehill.com/APIv1/USD/Ticker ? If so, the volume returned is USD. Which is quite confusing, I agree.

Thank you.  That makes sense then.  I was off by the ratio of BTC:USD.

I don't see them close... Where did you get those numbers?

Trading API ticker for each.
4559  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Current Volume on: July 11, 2011, 02:14:39 AM
From what I see Trade hills volume is no where near Mt gox.  Maybe 1 tenth.

Just checked the ticker now.  Tradehill at 52k, Mt. Gox at 46k.
4560  Economy / Trading Discussion / Current Volume on: July 11, 2011, 12:58:29 AM
Now, I don't claim to know a lot about economics, but I think that its a GREAT sign that the current volume at TradeHill is about equal to that of Mt. Gox.  It almost seems like the market is creating its own checks and balances (albeit this is a narrow perspective given that the volume at Mt. Gox fluctuated between 100,000 and 10,000 within 2  days).  Any thoughts about having near-equal volumes among several exchanges?  What does this mean for volatility vs. stability?
