4541  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Philippines Senate Election 2019 - Democracy is dead! on: May 17, 2019, 02:21:43 AM
So are you in favor of federalism being pushed by Duterte then? I think democracy has some flaw, but I don't know how will federalism will change the course of the Philippines or if voters will used their intelligence to pick the winners. But goodluck to the Philippines!!!.

To be honest, I am actually clueless as to which kind of government the Philippine needs. That is why I am asking for suggestions and arguing the flaws over democracy. Imagine if federalism were to be implemented, every region has its jurisdiction, laws, and budget depending on their needs. Since the Philippines is geographically and ethnocentrically fragmented, Duterte is pushing federalism as the new type of government but I also believe that it will only bring more harm than good.

It's frustrating to know that these things still happened out there in Mindanao. I've never been there, only heard on the news that some parts of it are still controlled by the warlords. Duterte has big plans for Mindanao in terms of peace and order but feuding warlords seems to disagree with each other. MNLF and MILF should prioritize first the welfare of it's people and not on who hold power on Mindanao. As an ordinary citizen of the republic, i find it very complicated on how to bring peace to the land of Promise.

Unfortunately, even the recent signing of the Bangsamoric Basic Law, peace and order calls for Mindanao. Like what you mentioned, warlords are prominent and governing most of the local states there.
4542  Other / Meta / Re: The fastest UNBAN for plagiarism on: May 16, 2019, 04:37:19 PM
Is this enough to avoid punishment for plagiarism? And what do you tell other banned users?
I'll gladly answer your question but first can you define what's enough by your standards? Because if you are just asking me a two year ban on signatures and a 60 day ban on posting and sending pms is enough for a user to learn his/her lesson after being given a second chance. The duration of the said bans will also show us if the member is really here to be active in contributing in the forum again or just wants to be here to earn money.
I will explain what I did not like.
This user very quickly received an alternative punishment and he began a countdown.
But this case became a precedent for other participants.
I have no complaints about punishment, it is really cruel but fair.
My claim is that the administration delays the consideration of other cases.

The more that you have contributed to the forum, the more chances that your pleading would be considered. Take hacker1010100 as an example, he became a valuable asset and contributed to the forum enough to give him the chance of redeeming himself, unlike people who got ban due to plagiarism and have a history full of shitposting and spamming. If I were a mod and I see their history, without a doubt, I would consider the one who contributed most.

There is also someone who recently got banned (tvplus006) and I am hoping that the penalty imposed would be less-harsher due to his outstanding contribution in busting out fake ICOs and scams.
4543  Economy / Economics / Re: Price of goods goes up, salary never goes up!!! on: May 16, 2019, 12:38:34 PM
Unfortunately, that is how inflation works. The price of goods, products, and services will inevitably increase/decrease depending on the economy of the country but salary must follow to the change in order to cope for it. Applying cryptocurrencies, these can be either short/long-term investment depending on your goal. If you want your kids to benefit from this change, better save-up some bitcoins!

4544  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Philippines Senate Election 2019 - Democracy is dead! on: May 16, 2019, 09:23:27 AM
For me, what's more surprising is the "mass or union voting of one religion wherein they require all the members of a church to vote for particular candidate/s.

Ah, the classic religious persuading! I saw from the news that one of the major religious groups here in the Philippines started to endorse a list of candidates which in my opinion, are the worst from all the participants. Not only they endorsed candidates that are corrupt but also they included thieves, liars, and incompetent ones which are against what they are promoting for. They say that they uphold their 'morals and values' but their decision says otherwise.

Again, there is something called separation of the church and state but if the religious groups MANDATE their own members to vote for a particular list of candidates (which is for their best interest), then this is a clear violation.

That is right but at least he is being honest and he is willing to learn. It is not just about making a certain laws but it is all about creating a law that is followed. In the previous elections we have been voting a lot of lawyers but what have they done? Nothing and guess what they've been only getting the funds for their gains.

Stop under estimating people and stop being hypocrite, Look at what manny pacquiao have done in the senate? being the low class because of not having a high level of educational background. He has done more things than the other lawyers you people are talking about.

You do talk about sh*ts after looking at how they perform and for now shutting up your mouth and respecting their wins can be the very best thing you can do for your country.

Let me argue in the first paragraph: suppose you went to visit a hospital and ask for a prescription for your illness and then someone approaches you saying that he cannot give or prescribe anything BUT HE IS WILLING TO LEARN ABOUT IT. If honesty and the willingness to learn are the determining factor in order to get a spot in the legislative branch, then sign everyone up!

Let us now talk about Senator Pacquiao. I watched a video of him in the Senate arguing against Senator Drilon over the creation of a Philippine Boxing Commission. Hell, he cannot even answer the questions on his own! He has people coaching and whispering him at the back just to speak an answer to Drilon's remarks! I am not invalidating that Pacquiao is a bad guy but the question falls on competency. Oh yeah, do not forget the number of absences he already incurred in the Senate!

The point is, there are better and competent candidates on the list who were not given a chance due to the voting done by these people.
4545  Other / Meta / Re: [BAN APPEAL] tvplus006 on: May 16, 2019, 06:07:40 AM
I consider TVPLUS as a valuable asset especially when it comes to busting fake ICOs in the forum. His presence (along with ICOEthics) makes every ANN in the altcoin section re-think their options before attempting to scam. Without him, there will be a decrease on the members who is dedicated enough to find scammers around the forum.

I really do hope that the ban gets lifted with necessary adjustments and penalties.
4546  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Big Merchants Now Accepting Bitcoin on: May 16, 2019, 05:46:32 AM

Barnes & Noble, Baskin Robbins, Bed Bath & Beyond, Caribou Coffee, Crate & Barrel, Express, GameStop, Jamba Juice, Lowe’s, Nordstrom, Office Depot & OfficeMax, Petco, Regal Cinemas, Ulta Beauty and Amazon-owned Whole Foods Market and of course Starbucks

These are actually big and the potential for its price is unprecedented! Imagine if these large establishments start to accept bitcoin as an alternative payment, more volume and transactions would take place. This would further enhance and increase its price on the market giving it more approval and reputation among the public.
Many would regard this news as normal but this is actually a big step towards promoting cryptocurrencies as an acceptable alternative payment.

4547  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin/Cryptocurrency user friendly? on: May 16, 2019, 03:17:48 AM
It is use-friendly but I highly suggest that you read books or watch videos online explaining the fundamentals and basics of cryptocurrency in-order to understand it fully. When I started this forum 2 years ago, I was fortunate enough to have someone who is literate about this technical world. But I went the extra mile by watching videos online and browsing here in the forum to grasp each concept.

Learning how to drive by watching videos or through reading will not make you a good driver, experience does. I also suggest that you attempt to earn bitcoins and do transactions to highly-trusted users in the forum.

Comparing the nature of cryptocurrency platforms in 2010 and 2012 to the current platforms available to new users now, I will say cryptocurrency currently is very user friendly. These new platforms have made it possible that people who are new to the crypto space can easily comprehend the features of cryptocurrency platforms and can start using them.

Back when bitcoin first started, there were few to none websites/reading materials that will guide you along the way. Fortunately, its reputation gradually increased and videos of guides started to rise in the internet.

Hi,

Upon checking the website and the team behind the project, I saw that one of your team members is allegedly fake. Not to mention, you are hosting your website in a free-domain provider which makes everything doubtful and confusing.

Please refer to this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5143699.0

Hi guys please be aware that Peter Liu on their website right now has a fake photo as described here:

@qwertyup23 I have edited my post since both have posted same information in same time.
Anyway great catch! +1 Merit!

Thank you very much! I saw your post regarding the team and I would like to ask permission if I can include it on my post (quoting your text from there)? Anyway, combined with all the information we gathered we can conclude that this project has an extreme potential of being a scam. Better tag the guy!

4551  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The key reason for gambling on: May 15, 2019, 11:17:43 PM
Are they mainly looking for money, excitement, socialization? Please vote and leave a comment below in case you want to add something to your answer.

It is actually everything since gambling has a very wide scope on which it caters to, especially to individuals who have the capacity to gamble. There are two (2) kinds of individuals mostly in casinos: one looking for entertainment and the other expecting money.

The first type of gambler is usually for people who have the resource to gamble. They find the act satisfying since it provides socialization among their peers and colleagues; this type of gambler also knows their discipline throughout the game and they know their limitations.

The second type of gambler is usually the common majority shared in a casino. This is potentially dangerous especially that they are prone so succumbing to addiction. If you gamble to pay for your financial problems, expect things to spiral out of control.
4552  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dont be dumb gamblers on: May 15, 2019, 11:07:12 PM
<snip...>

These are actually helpful especially for newbies who are relatively new to the gambling world. But in all honesty, some are easier said than done. Gambling is an act which is very difficult to maintain and have discipline due to its nature being satisfying and giving adrenaline. Not to mention, everything revolves around money in that aspect- which is the primary need of a human.

My friend recently get scammed by a gambling site which he found by continuously browsing. On internet. ~Goodbye $200 .~

Why browsing the Internet looking for a gambling site, when you can come here on this forum and see dozens of established sites and new ones with reviews on them? I personally don't know about more reliable source of information regarding crypto gambling than this very forum. It's better to spend one hour reading about various gambling sites here than saving one hour, but losing $200 to some scammers, imo.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense if he cannot found any recommended gambling site on here because we are sharing the best gambling website which he can use to gamble. But that will be different if he doesn't know this forum so he can search on the internet and found many gambling websites in out there without knowing which is the good gambling site.

There are lots of legit and trustful gambling sites roaming around this forum. I guess one of the major considerations is the length of the gambling site's operation. If it has been around for years, it means that it already built its strong reputation and trust from its user. But you are right, doing research and asking is the best way in order to know if the gambling site is legit or not.
4553  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Philippines Senate Election 2019 - Democracy is dead! on: May 15, 2019, 11:47:31 AM
It means the popularity is the one of the main ingredients for Filipinos when voting.  Grin

That is why I argue that democracy cannot be integrated if that is the mindset of the majority of the voters in our country. If they are clueless about the history of every candidate as they base their votes solely on popularity and hearsay, I think that a democratic form of government would not fit. We can implement strategies in order to enlighten each voter but I still believe that this problem will exist.
4554  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Philippines Senate Election 2019 - Democracy is dead! on: May 15, 2019, 04:18:09 AM
Democracy is not dead in the Philippines IMO basing on the result. You may not like it but that's the voice of the people.

For candidates who have pending cases, they should be ban from running for government post and this entail amendments to the Constitution but i think this is very far from happening as those who will amend the Constitution will be affected.

The voice of the people? That is where the problem rises due to the majority of voters do not have a voice of their own. Not to be rude but the majority who voted for these candidates are also the people who are unaware of the current state of the country. I just cannot accept that these candidates won despite having criminal and civil cases filed before them. If this is the voice of the people wherein they vote for alleged criminals, artists, a person who does not even know what the job of a senator is, and a thief, then our country is doomed.

I do agree that the Constitution must be amended in order to address this problem of candidates running with pending cases. But again, the people who are responsible for the amendment of the Constitution are the legislative branch, so this may be far from happening.
4555  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hope I can still ride the bull. on: May 15, 2019, 04:07:14 AM
All users who have lost bitcoin due to the recent Binance hacking will be compensated as to their announcement. Unfortunately, since bitcoin's nature is primarily exist on the internet, hacking is inevitable.

As to the recent bull run, the price stabilized in the $8,000 mark with little resistance. It is never too late to purchase bitcoin but you missed the opportunity to earn short-term income due to the recent skyrocketing of its price.

The bull market might have started looking at the current market trend. However, you aint late at all since the party just started. You can still jump in but for the exchange, there e are several other good ones but binance hasn't lost their integrity yet.

That is what I always advise people when they mention that they are too late in the bull-run experience. As for my experience, it is never too late as long as you do research, technical analysis, and market observation. The bull run may have started but prices are still unpredictable.
4556  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Philippines Senate Election 2019 - Democracy is dead! on: May 14, 2019, 08:18:58 PM
It was never a democracy from the start, the Americans pretty much made sure of that during the first election they administered. It gave a huge advantage to political dynasties that they've remained entrenched as they were during the Hispanic era. Ever noticed that '87 "Constitution" specified that political dynasties would not be allowed but no proposed law to regulate it ever passed?

That is actually true. It is stated in the Constitution that political dynasties are prohibited yet almost all local governments positions were taken over by families who share the same surname.

I just find it really depressing that our senatorial candidates are filled with people who are endorsed by our president- let almost all are unqualified for the job. I cannot fathom on why our countrymen voted someone who stole money directly in our pockets!

4557  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: As the price rises so should our sense of security rise on: May 14, 2019, 02:58:40 PM
The only thing that we can do is to provide preventive measures just in case of malware due to hackers. Unfortunately, being an entity whose nature exists on the internet cannot escape the possibility of being hacked, no matter how secured or updated your engines are. For example, binance (one of the leading exchanges) recently was attacked and around thousands of bitcoins were stolen.

Re: As the price rises so should our sense of security rise

We should always prioritize security in general, regardless of what bitcoin's price is, as scammers will always be out there looking for potential victims regardless of the market situation.

This is actually true as being secured has a broad scope and contains no limitations as to the nature of the topic. Even if cryptocurrencies are not involve, being secured and providing contingencies may address future problems that may arise due to hacking. Better transport your bitcoins in an offline wallet or hardware for maximum security.
4558  Other / Politics & Society / Philippines Senate Election 2019 - Democracy is dead! on: May 14, 2019, 01:11:07 PM
Last May 13, 2019, the Philippines held their general elections for the spot for various local government positions and for the senate. There has been an uproar regarding the list of candidates due to some being unqualified and fit for the position (a former head of the national police, television actors, an artist, person who has 16 counts of graft and corruption on his name, someone who constantly fakes her credentials, etc.).
Unfortunately, those who I just mentioned received and won their spot in the senate- the legislative branch that is responsible for making laws.

I do not want to sound politically bias (although it may sound like) but I really feel devastated about the results. I mean, there are lots of candidates whose credentials are far more fitting than most of them. Voting someone who just stole millions of Pesos from the people and still won on the elections?

Do you really think that democracy is dead and is unfitting in the Philippines? If yes, what form of government should be integrated in order to address this issue?

4559  Economy / Speculation / Re: what will happen if BTC hit 1.000.000$ on: May 14, 2019, 10:58:56 AM
Reaching 1 million USD for each bitcoin is the dream for most people who owns bitcoin but it has its share of disadvantages too. Back in 2018 when the price of each bitcoin reached an alarming rate of around $18,000-$20,000, transaction fees were high and it discouraged almost some to trade their bitcoins.

From an investment perspective, reaching that price would be the best thing since sliced bread. The opportunities and potentials it create to people who own bitcoins may be a solution financially to some. Not to mention, expect government intervention to take place in this scenario.

if btc hits 1 mil . i would be happy to be around for that to happen. i dont necessarily need btc to hit 1 mil. i would have alot of cars thats for sure. i think every young person would be spending like crazy on who knows what. and jus go completely broke. in a few years time.

People who owns it will be the most happiest and those who could not get or thought it was bubble would regret it later as they would have missed the money making opportunity during this bull run . It my or may not reach to that levels but it will rise from current level for sure .

I doubt that it will reach that kind of price soon but it is not entirely impossible. Before it reaches to that price, government would surely intervene in the process and banks may engage in the cryptoworld by making their own coin.
