461  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XRP] "Mining" XRP for Ripple! on: February 06, 2014, 10:59:09 AM

OK, im in Ripple team, I did 24h of 4-cores cpu work for WRC under this project and it results in big nothing.

It took about 48 hour before I saw my first XRPs.

As long as you are in WCG and have your WCG username registered in the Computing for good you will get paid on that basis of work done for the project.

I find that BOINC is much less obtrusive than CPU or GPU crypto hashing and so I do it on my main machine only! I am mining frozen/quark on all my other cores.
Oh! Btw - don't forget to bump up the max % processor use in tools>>computer preferences! I had it on only 60% for a month!

In spite of, or maybe because, Ripple is not in competition with distributed cryptos I think 2014 will be the year it goes mainstream with fiat ATMs and merchant payment systems!  Cheesy Cheesy
462  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Buying XRP / Ripple? on: February 06, 2014, 10:50:30 AM
XRP is going to be next huge thing after btc.

I agree that Ripple will be big!

However it doesn't really compete with BTC.
It's more of a very cheap Paypal substitute with very low transaction charges and no chargebacks.
Yes, the XRPs are a bit like bitcoin! However this is used as a mechanism for the payments system and any value placed on XRPs is fairly inconsequential to their core business.

I think Ripple will be huge in 2014 with new facilities like fiat ATMs and merchant payment gateway going mainstream. Because the Ripple network just guarantees the FIAT transaction I see this as the first crypto to go truly mainstream with the kids, Grandma's and Joe Bloggs.

On top of that you have wealth stores like XNF that are part backed by bullion.

Think of Ripples like your day to day current account and XNF as your savings account!

Yes, Ripple will explode this year. The retailers are fed up with extortionate transaction charges. Consumers are fed up with extortionate bank charges.!  Shocked
Let's face it - if you do a weekly shop in Walmart you don't need or want a chargeback facility - however their is nothing stopping either buyer or seller using escrow or insurance. I can see services like these on Ripple

However Ripple is complimentary to distributed currencies not competing in any way.
The real victims of the Ripple revolution will be highly centralised cryptos that have not been liberated by their communities. These will sink rapidly IMHO.
I am thinking, NXT, Protoshares.

I am guessing that almost all of the cryptos that are on at least two exchanges today will either grow steadily (If the economy grows) or launch into space (If their are any majoe economic shocks).
463  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Buying XRP / Ripple? on: February 06, 2014, 10:05:57 AM
Did you buy some XRP's Ripple? And why?

I think it will be BIG this year Smiley
Don't now Ripple? www.ripple.com

I was given some ripple on the forum to start me off. (You need a 25 XRP float). But I then bought some which I traded in for XNF. Purely speculative,

I get about 40 XRPs a day from the World Community Grid on BOINC running on my main PC. It is way less obtrusive than any kind of mining!
I trade these in from time to time to buy XNF!  Grin http://www.nofiatcoin.com/

472  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [OFFICIAL POLL] QRK LOGO COMPETITION on: February 04, 2014, 11:57:20 PM

Basically it is too late to change the logo. It would be a huge mistake, it's a very strong logo!
The current design of the logo has it's flaws but they can be resolved.

I disagree. It's not too late to change the log. It's never too late to change the logo. Lot's of the logos look alot fresher than the original - which looks like something from a Dharma Initiative hatch.

However it needs to be called just Quark - Not Quark Coin!!!!!!!!  Smiley
473  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: #CoinedUp added #Vertcoin to the market #DONE on: February 04, 2014, 06:08:59 PM

474  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Coinedup a shit scam place for exchange.Extremely slow and can't place order! on: February 04, 2014, 05:42:01 PM
It's no doubt the slowest sites of exchange I know.
And the bigest problem is that really hard to place an order here! With luck I may succeed once with 5 time trying. But always failed with more than 10 times!

Yes, it's slow but I actually have more confidence in Coinedup than most other exes.  Smiley
If your life depended on it would you rather drive 100 miles in a GM mini or a Ferrari?

Also, why contribute to the posts with highly subjective subject lines then to be given perfectly rational and reasonable answers to your issue in the thread? People scanning the forums just see Coinedup=Scam which is NOT FAIR!  Roll Eyes

479  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Quark is a loser in 2014, Doge is a winner, and how this relates to Vertcoin on: February 03, 2014, 04:47:34 PM
The situation is so bad, they had to install checkpoints to prevent a 51% attack from occurring by a random, homeless man with a laptop.

Source?

No I didn't think so! You should wait until the end and have wasted much more of peoples time before you come out with stuff that even a three year old would find hard to believe!  ROFL!  Grin
480  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [LDC] LeadCoin Miners! Please switch some MHs to coinminer on: February 03, 2014, 01:12:23 PM
LeadCoin miners - please switch some MHs from forkpool to http://coinminer.net:19993/static/

No sign up required!

Forkpool currently has over 51% !!  Shocked

Also LeadCoin needs at least 1 more pool! Hash Rate is rising quickly!!!  Shocked
I will promote your pool on the leadcoin website! http://www.leadcoin.net
