461  Economy / Marketplace / [CLOSED] BOUNTY: 10 BTC for a simple script on: December 23, 2011, 01:29:39 PM
Greetings Coders,

I am looking for a simple script that will do the following:

Display the price of 1 gram of silver in U.S. dollars

Additional info:

The spot price of silver is usually quoted in troy ounces on sites like www.kitco.com. Here is the conversion formula:

1 troy ounce = 31.1034768 grams

Please PM me if you are interested.

Thanks,
Trader Steve
462  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Backing Bitcoin with People on: December 23, 2011, 01:23:56 PM
Bitcoin is backed by whatever someone will trade you for it - no more and no less. Why do I accept it? Because there are others who will trade me their goods and services for it (although I'm somewhat limited in my choices). People value it because of its unique features and benefits as a medium of exchange. Like any commodity, its value is reflected in its exchange price (market price). Any attempt to "fix" a price to bitcoin is destined to fail because price-fixing does not work.

Those in the links above are Chinese knockoffs. We use authentic Swiss movements.

Yes, those were two rejected and discarded prototypes of earlier versions of chronographs without the "top" grade movements and with different case styles that, quite frankly, didn't meet our standards. I suspect they could become quite valuable at some point in the future for collectors.

SLICK!  How many bitcoins are you selling the watch for nowadays?

The current price is the bitcoin equivalent of $3,995 which today is 799 BTC.

Updated images of the rotor have been posted to the original post. We're waiting for the new dial imprinting plate to come in any day now. The first Bitcoin Chronograph should be completed soon after. We'll post updated pictures as soon as it is completed.

475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / [RESOLVED] Help Requested: Restored wallet shows 0 balance yet blockchain still on: September 13, 2011, 12:57:04 AM
Here's the head-scratcher that I hope one of you can help me with:

I restored a small savings wallet.cat file and opened the client. I waited for the blockchain to update and that went fine - the blockchain is now up to date. Here's the problem: the client shows a zero balance yet when I search the receiving address in BlockExplorer it still shows my balance at that address. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Thanks,
Trader Steve

Buy from www.exchangebitcoins.com using their cash deposit at over 15,000 Chase and Wells Fargo branches. Better yet, create a local MeetUp group and cultivate a local trading network so you can do exchanges outside of the formal exchanges.

I have used this service with great satisfaction. BTW, I've gotten quick and excellent fills on my orders which is more than I can say for my experience with Trade Hill.

I like the idea that this can make bitcoin truly anonymous (and that's just one small piece of OT!). Smiley To better understand what FellowTraveler is talking about I recommend listening to this radio interview first:
