It wont be enough to add a reward into the block. My testing seems to indicate that you need to have a transaction fee in each block, the reward POS will not progress the chain. [...]
Sorry, thats not correct. Simply look at a random PoS block (between block 5000 and 6000) where stake rewards were 0.01 and no additional transaction was included in the block: http://cryptobe.com/block/2b1593501eae501079813a56aec4015c15a0a47983f5ea311344b7ab8a94d8a7The first input in that block is the PoS reward generation (PoS rewards are generated as negative transaction fees), the second input is staked coins split into two inputs (0.25 -> 2x 0.13). unless you're testing on a seperate chain. there does not seem to be any way to test with a reward included. a) what? b) why wouldn't you be able to test PoS rewards on a separate network/environment? c) what? lol yes exactly. my verbosity is lacking at times. brain says yes thinking is not necessary.

hmm makes me think it would be fun to have a random number generator. such that the reward is either 0 or 0.01
weighting such that say 90% probability of 0 and 10% of .01
this would slowly move chain along with rewards for stakers, whilst keeping coin count low. and when someone sends coins, then the tx will trigger a block through fees.
-- however some thought will probably need to go into the handling of staking blocks else they may end up terribly small if the targeting isnt handle deftly.

Hello,
Any news about Artsycoin??? Seems very quiet...
Best regards.

It appears the only way to get the blockchain moving is to send a transaction (with it's fee). Every time I sent a transaction to myself and paid the minimum fee, the block chain moved up one. We may need to consider giving a small pos reward to get the block chain moving even without a transaction and it's fee.
The code doesn't allow either zero value or zero reward blocks. That means a transaction is required for a block to become a valid block - either because it's not a zero value or a zero reward block (due to tx fees) that way. I am currently @ work so no time to check the exact cause. Easy fix would be a minimal PoS reward per block. hehe seems quite a nice way to reduce blockchain bloat.

i'm not used to the 0.9 builds. and was having troubles with the lack of makefile.unix in src but seem to be having luck with using ./configure --with-incompatible-bdb

QUIT is now on cryptopia https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Exchange?market=QUIT_BTC-- c-cex looks like de-listing QUIT on the 2nd -- 2 DAYS !?!?!?!? and there seems a goodly amount still there on the books. terrible practice leaving trading running right up to the point of no retreival .. should be a week between de-listing and killing the wallets. This is great. Thanks for your efforts! Cryptopia is a great exchange, has much better reputation than C-Cex and seems to be run by credible people. They even care about the coins they run not to be scam (unlike C-Cex or Bittrex). For example you can find PayCon (a legit coin) there, but not PayCoin (which is a scam). It is very good for QUIT to be listed there. The volume there is much smaller than on on C-Cex though, so it would be nice to be left on C-Cex too... On C-Cex topic - according to my experience, C-Cex allows to withdraw coins at least for 1-2 days after the market removal. I've never left the coins there for more than 1-2 days after market closure, so cannot tell if withdrawal is possible for a longer time. ah yes. you just reminded me. i couldnt log in for a month or so and they helped me rescue some coins after that long. so they can be very helpful

Are these cause for concern? In main.h static const int64_t MAX_MINT_PROOF_OF_STAKE = 0.23 * COIN In main.cpp nRewardCoinYear = MAX_MINT_PROOF_OF_STAKE; int64_t nSubsidy = nCoinAge * nRewardCoinYear / 365 / COIN They look funny to me, IMHO. I thought using decimals should be avoided. Please educate me. Edit: I've now took a look at the source code for Peercoin, Blackcoin, Positron, Clams & 10k. None of them seem to use decimals. Also, the above formula does not account for leap years. Sorry to rain on everyone's parade. This line in main.h does not make sense to me either, static const int64_t MIN_TX_FEE = 0.001 * CENT Dev, please advise. COIN is generally 10000 or more. so .23 * COIN would be 23000 in this case.EDIT util.h static const int64_t COIN = 100000000; so COIN * 23 = big integer..

BamBit would have been better name

pow and pos were concurrent towards the end
POW reward Block 4501 to 5500 0.10 Coin = 99.9 Coins
Proof Of Stake 0.01 per Block for 1000 Blocks starting @ Block 5000

Ocminer r u listening ? This is similar to ur pool fee. I guess u would agree.
i'm wondering about whether your tx fee is appropriate too. or maybe too high ? i have no idea what default CPRS fee is..
