Although I am not an investor in BS&T, my position is that there is insufficient evidence to declare a default, and the exit strategy so far is not indicative of a looming default or an elaborate scam set up. There are many reasons why I believe this to be so, but they do not belong in this thread.
As someone who had experience with a similar ponzi, I can tell you that this one is following it perfectly. The guy in charge continuing to communicate, claims that money is tied up in assets, apologies and attempts to get the money back, and very slowly paying people back from sold assets over the course of a few weeks, before finally collapsing. If this wasn't a ponzi, I'd like to know what business you can think of that can consistently pay 7%, or even 3% a week for a year. Here is everyone's answer. Thanks Rassah! There is only one company at this point that could be interested in this tale, Bitcoin Magazine. Very good move for them in fact, it'll increase readership significantly, at lest for that one issue. Either Matt has full story and knows how is it going to end so this bet is easy 10k BTC win for him, or he's been played by Pirate to push his plan further, Pirate won't pay and Matt is going to lose his coins or face.
So, this would be fraud by the magazine, matt, and the people "in the know". If what you suggest is the true. This wont end well either way. |

My bet is that pirate will default. Defaulting means not paying out 100% to all investors (including interest). Partial payment (regardless of any agreement by pirate) counts as a lost bet by Matt.

I think you guys are going to get burned by the ambiguous wording of this bet. Namworld already pointed out (as have I in other threads) the caveat that allows matt to win the bet, even if pirate doesn't pay in full...
Be careful guys....I dont think there is a chance in hell that pirate pays in full, but the way Matt has worded this bet, he still has a good chance of winning. Don't let greed cloud your judgment.
I think if a grouping of large investors (especially the operators of the Passthroughs) agree to a reduction and MNW claims that the bet is won with that, Thymos will just have to pull out the scammer tag en masse. The OP was pretty explicit that Pirate had to meet the obligations in his thread, and Pirate was explicit that all investors would be paid back the funds owed plus interest up to the hour.
