bitmaintech website is down ..... could we have some movement finally!?

No. I asked bitmain to move onto cloudflare so everyone can can locally served rather than using CN servers. Because the name servers changed it'll take a few hours to a day for everything to propagate.

-Or, a setting is wrong while moving over.

Usual dogie waffle!

What happened with the movement we were supposed to see last Monday?

See what I mean? He insinuated there was going to be some movement on Monday just gone .... its now Thursday and nothing!
Now he says there is no movement at all, rather bitmain are carrying out his instructions .... from you dogie? What a dunce! I won't be surprised at all if the site gets back online with a new offering listed.

I've sold one of my S3 miners, will sell my next one and a coin craft to help fund my S5. I was juggling between this and the jackson but I believe this is better on the wallet in terms of power consumption. I lost $19 AUD on my S3 miners which I ran for about 3 - 4 months but I'm not fussed, I made some bitcoin!

Hold your horses back! There's currently no way to buy either an S5 or an SP20...

Bad times truly .... tried to order an Avalon 4.1 and total comes to BTC 2.14 including shipping with DHL to UK (not that there is choice of shipper either!)! What a rip-off! My S5 cost a whopping BTC 1.1 shipped (after applying voucher).

what is the actual mindset that updates have to be installed in order when all an update is is a replacement of the OS, so a previous patch should have absolutely no mind of what was on the machine before, as the previous gets completely wiped out.

My thoughts exactly ... to an extent.

.... but the only way a previous could hinder a new one is if there is an actual mod being done to the chips which I am pretty sure there are no programmable chips on these. ....

You'd be wrong because the controller board has a programable chip, and the PIC firmware is uploaded on each cold boot (not sure about a restart). I am actually convinced that this is where bitmain fudge things up, as the PIC firmware is obfuscated and no source code available. I have tried dis-assembling the firmware with no positive results as there are only so many hours in a day!

However, I believe the subsequent changes to the PIC firmware are to blame for the sporadic results with the latter firmware, so the logic would be the reverse of sequentially installing updates as the last firmware update wipes the lot off (as you correctly state)!

For the Bitmain team:
Is there any chance of having a page for network traffic stats in the next firmware update.
How much TX and RX data for a day, week or total TX and RX.

Its unlikely this will ever get done even if its useful as there are lots of things still to do higher on the priority list. Your traffic stats are going to be literally negligible in terms of bandwidth with appropriate difficulty.

As usual, another waffle response.
This data is actually already available from the UI via the Network tab.

@pekatete - What does waffle mean. Is that like laub  Grin

Not sure what laub is, but if it's similar to those Danish bisquits, then yes. And the anology with regard to dogie's responses is,

They look and seem to have body, but sink your teeth into them and you'll realise they are full of air, seemingly lacking substance (and will most definitely leave you wanting)!

Believe it or not, I was not trying to describe dogie there, just the waffles, but the similarities are striking, thus my apt reminders whenever he drops his mess - not the most glamorous job, but someone's gotta do it!

467  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement: Bitmain launches AntMiner solution, 0.68 J/GH on chip on: March 02, 2015, 05:55:52 PM
.....The fact that Bitfury is keeping quiet about the results should tell you all you need to know really - they're disappointed in the results.

Aside from your usual waffle, what reason would bitfury have to tell me (and here I am the home miner) about their results, dis-appointing as you'd want us to believe or otherwise? They raised $40M for this and I am sure the guys and gals who put that amount up already know the results .... but that we are even reading about it can only mean one thing (well at least to someone with a brain).
468  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement: Bitmain launches AntMiner solution, 0.68 J/GH on chip on: March 02, 2015, 04:54:45 PM
Neither here nor there really since they ditched the home miner long ago, shame upon them! Saying that, that they have achieved this on a 28nm fabrication is bound to have (have had?) a resonating effect on bitmain and SPT, never mind the network in general.
469  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [9000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: March 02, 2015, 03:10:20 PM
You've really got something wrong with you.

Lets get back on-topic ... pool is now 10.44 Ph/s ... is that some thresh-hold to behold?
PS. Did you notice the pool was, for a while yesterday, not setting diffs and did a longer than usual sync?

Didn't notice the diffs but did notice the sync.  Might be coincidence but it looked like others were going slow too.  Maybe a network thing.

11 hours followed by 20 is crippling.

Yep, network was definitely slow(er) too (or at least it seemed so to me), but I think we also had issues of our own. Saying that, we've popped another one .... and that just as I was rebooting one of my rigs!

Regarding your dumb-foundedness...  suck it!  Have a nice day.

It was a long block .... but yes, you have to be in it to win it!
And having peaked at about 11 Ph/s during the block, it ended when we were at 10.2 Ph/s .... rich pickings ..... sorry you missed out and have a nice day too!

Didn't miss out.  Got 0.45858841 from that block.  The f/w issue was with a small rig that's running on Betarigs.  Oh no!  Another thing not related to the pool.  Your miserable little head will probably explode.

I see you are excitable .... and given up moving your rigs whence the pool hits 10 Ph/s or the block is over 9 hrs ..... well then, pick a number of what you may have earned, any number!

The last 2 firmware updates do not work with my S3's.  Even after doing the updates in order.  F/W 5 & 6 create a 500 error on the miner status page and although the lights flash and they belch hot air there is no mining.  Reverted to F/W 4 and mining happily again.

It is well documented in the S3 thread that the latter firmwares rarely work well, if ever. It seems you have to install them in a certain way, and use them in very particular ways, akin to the iPhone vulcan grip!
I am dumb-founded to see a post in a pool thread about firmware updating for a particular rig ... surely the best place for that must be in the rig thread where it has been discussed widely and other users have shared their experiences. That is quite aside from polluting this thread with "show and tell" type images ..... I am sure there are threads dedicated to that!

Phew! Last block out of the way ... 20hrs!
474  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: March 01, 2015, 04:47:58 PM
The cgminer averages are calculated with respect to the shares submitted to the pool, the pool difficulty and the time between two consecutive accepted shares. Either you're extremely lucky in the last 30 min or so, or something is wrong with the part accepting your shares. (It can be the "pool speed" recovering after a "slow" interval, on the pool side.)

I can bet all of your SP20 are on the same pool .. right? Try on a different pool with a couple of them for a while.

I'm using slush, I can see they report properly on the pool, and the miners report normal. all 6 of them do the same thing, and report wrong.

Funny you say that. Slush had an issue earlier today that I noticed too .... for about an hour (could have been longer!), the pool was not automatically setting a diff. One of my S5's was left at diff 32 (the default) a long time, I'd say half an hour to 45 minutes, and was submitting loads of shares (could tell from the accepted shares metric), until I went into the new interface at slush and manually set a diff. A pool sync followed about the time you posted this which again took longer than usual to complete .... that may explain your un-usually high rates.

@Dogie - Do they plan on bringing the Bitmain site back online soon or is the holiday still going on for them. Thanks

https://bitmaintech.com/ works for me?

@Dogie - I mean in the sense that they will have miners back up for sale S5 for example. Thanks

No concrete plans yet, should get some movement on Monday.

Waffle! You can always say you don't know and that would suffice.

Well I'm still mining so hopefully not a really bad thing.

Hmm, its you that put as over 10Ph (nearly 11Ph) before the site went down ..... not holding my breath this time, but hopefully when the site returns we'll have a few blocks in the bag!

Nope.  13 hours into the block.

Still synchronizing ..... fingers crossed!

it's on my macbook.  It is with API.  It shows all of my miners, confirmed and unconfirmed blocks.  It's an app called Pool Monitor.
Thanks for that .... I am writing a program to monitor & manage my rigs .... intergrating the pool API data will certainly enhance it without having to log onto the site in a browser ... I thought it was deprecated as I could not find a link to it on the new site, but will check the old site now I know its still in service.

Bitmain never had any agreement to do anything with syscooling over S5s, it was only unofficial on syscooling's part.
You still insist on your waffle whenever you can. Look in this very thread and you'll see a response from a bitmain account to that effect which is consistent with syscooling's on bitmain pulling the plug. If you want to call that un-official, then what is official, your waffle?
