461  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bitcoin new ATH malapit na! on: February 28, 2024, 04:06:10 PM
462  Economy / Speculation / Re: Something is seriously wrong with bitcoin markets. No liquidity? Should we sell? on: February 28, 2024, 03:52:43 PM
Coinbase is the leading bitcoin/cryptocurrency exchange in the United States, and ETF-related purchases are done through Coinbase Institutional — through OTC. I'm pretty sure Coinbase has ample liquidity to support these purchases.

The risk for you in this case is mainly the volatility, not necessarily the liquidity. Of course, liquidity will almost always be thinner when the price movement was violent.
463  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: WHO DOES CRYPTO DAY TRADING? on: February 28, 2024, 06:39:26 AM
Longed Solana with leverage in December with 14x leverage and ended up being up around 250-300% in just less than 8 hours(if I remember correctly). With that said, I wouldn't recommend active trading and most especially leverage trading to anyone. 95% of people are far better off just holding spot.

Took a quick look at your post history, and it does show that you lack knowledge of this space to be able to actually contribute(if you want to stick to the niche, which is Bitcoin). Take your time and educate yourself.

465  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are you interested in investing in DEX's tokens in 2024-2025 uptrend? on: February 28, 2024, 02:45:21 AM
I mean, DEXs are one of the protocol categories that are actually making good amounts of money; specifically the PERPs DEXs.

1. GMX. Printed a good amount of money through GMX and GLP staking; and also the price uptrend.
2. Return? It has always been active.
3. Of course, depending on valuations. The platform I'm planning on investing in hasn't released their token yet.
466  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who was Satoshi Nakamoto? on: February 27, 2024, 11:13:50 AM
Think about it though: if someone wanted to really be anonymous, would he put in small hints on who he/she is through his/her  anonymous monicker? Obviously not as it would totally be a bad idea. The S-N thing is likely just a coincidence.
467  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Weekly Net Outflow of Bitcoin from Exchanges Has Been Increasing on: February 27, 2024, 12:22:20 AM
And add the fact that we're getting a good chunk of net inflows through the Bitcoin NFTs — we could potentially breach all-time highs earlier than we'd expect. Not really sure if I'd like that though.. I definitely prefer a slower but steadier increase. But alas, the market will stay unpredictable as usual.
468  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Crypto Vending Machine on: February 25, 2024, 06:39:41 PM
Weird how Bitcoin Cash(BCH) ang pinili as currency? Like, wala na ata akong kilalang kahit isang tao na may hinohold na BCH. Kung ang criticism is ang fees ng BTC, then at least use USDT/USDC through Tron/Solana/etc siguro, mas may sense pa. If I were to guess sponsored by Bitcoin.com(which is BCH-centric) ito.
469  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is Now the Perfect Moment to Dive into Game-fi and Metaverse Projects? on: February 25, 2024, 11:47:55 AM
It seems like just last year there was a celebrity here in our country who was promoting this about the metaverse, and he is a well-known sports athlete and former politician here, and it is Manny Paquiao. The hype that they created was also intense, but after a few months it suddenly became silent, and I don't have any updates on them.

Because it's very likely to not be Manny Pacquiao himself. I've seen him(or his social media accounts, to be specific) promote various crypto platforms and NFT collections throughout the years, even though I doubt Pacman is the type of person to be. interested in crypto (or technology in general).
470  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Donald Trump's stance on Bitcoin is changing on: February 25, 2024, 11:13:35 AM
politician have mastered the art of manipulating peoples minds whenever they are at the pole and this  might just be a tricky tactics to get the attention of the voting population in the crypto space and i sure know he is achieving the needed  attention. bitcoin adoption has spread across the globe and bitcoin users are mostly youth which are his primary target that will give him the needed vote or help spread his popularity to  other youth that  will help him at the pol so its not something that should be taken seriously.
Is being bitcoin/crypto aligned actually a positive factor for these candidates? If anything, at this point being an anti-crypto candidate is still a bigger pull than being pro-crypto.

but its also a two sided win because as long as he has made theses series of statements that suggest that he supports bitcoin adoption, its a plus for the bitcoin community and will surely make other top leaders have a rethink on their stand regarding the adoption of bitcoin in their country
He doesn't even sound like a pro-bitcoin person with the above quote; more like a bitcoin-neutral person than a pro one.
471  Other / Meta / Re: Hey Theymos, There Should Be a Demotion Button on: February 25, 2024, 06:31:09 AM
I'm not for this one. I could almost guarantee that the demerit button would also be used when person A disagrees with person B, regardless if the post is spam/bland or not.

I think the current system where people need to earn merit to rank up is sufficient enough. The older accounts that have high amounts of airdropped merits(and little to no received sMerits) are likely to have a very hard time getting into campaigns anyway.
472  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How would BTC ve further influence over the Fiats if we ain't safe with the bank on: February 25, 2024, 05:21:56 AM
Such limitations are; Access to the internet in order to complete every single transaction, high cost when you want to buy goods that are less than $1, network congestion can also be a barrier, and many others, which I don't have the time to elaborate on.

There are a lot of decent arguments as to why bitcoin shouldn't or couldn't replace the current financial system, but these are not the ones.

1. The world is slowly but surely moving to a purely internet-centric world. If you're thinking of the poorest areas that don't even have establishments and such, well, I'm pretty sure a lot of those places don't even have fiat money in the first place; they just do barter.

2. Most people won't be making transactions on the Bitcoin basechain. They don't do it now(the likes of Coinbase txs, sucks but yea), and they won't be doing it in the future.
473  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reddit has invested in crypto: the beginning of a new crypto wave? on: February 25, 2024, 05:10:05 AM
It kinda does, as I have no idea why any company (aside from Microstrategy, which has Michael Saylor as its bitcoin zealot) would hold any cryptocurrency, if only because by doing so they expose themselves to incredible volatility and potential, substantial losses--or gains, of course, but my point is that it's a huge risk.
To be fair, they said that their crypto holdings are "immaterial". So they should be totally fine even if every single crypto they hold goes to zero.

"The net carrying value of our cryptocurrencies, which consisted primarily of Bitcoin and Ether, as well as all related cryptocurrency activity, was immaterial for the periods presented." - https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1713445/000162828024006294/reddits-1q423.htm

They say the crypto they're holding is for product and engineering teams, but damned if I know what that means.  And by the way, was Reddcoin ever officially linked with Reddit itself?  That was an oddball PoS coin that I'd had my eye on for years, and it seems like it never went anywhere.  Not surprising in the least, given that there are thousands of shitcoins on the market, but still.
No I'm pretty sure Reddcoin is not related to Reddit at all.
474  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: cripto broker on: February 24, 2024, 07:27:46 PM
Some exchanges are more "secure" than others, but no exchange is totally safe. For long-term holdings, you're better off using a hardware wallet. I personally wouldn't ever be able to sleep if my portfolio was on a centralized exchange.

Read

My problem with wallets is that I don't understand how they work because of the different networks... for example in metamask I have coins in optimism but I have eth in another network to be able to pay the fees... I don't really understand that

No offense mate but you shouldn't be investing outside of Bitcoin if you don't even understand the concept of how those networks work.
475  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reddit has invested in crypto: the beginning of a new crypto wave? on: February 24, 2024, 07:14:49 PM
1. We already had an idea back then that they're holding crypto.
2. Of course. It's literally guaranteed lol, a better question is which of them?
3. How is it detrimental in any way at all? One of the main points of bitcoin(and some crypto, very debatable) is value retention/increase, and some companies simply want that characteristic. You tell us how it can be detrimental.
476  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is Now the Perfect Moment to Dive into Game-fi and Metaverse Projects? on: February 24, 2024, 06:12:44 PM
Recognizing the market's unpredictability, timing can be crucial, prompting me to explore NADA. It's currently nearly 88% down from its all-time high, yet adoption appears positive. Notably, with announcements from Bitget and other exchanges about its listing through a deposit-to-list event, coupled with an improvement in its circulating supply from less than 700 million to the current 900 million out of a total 2 billion NADA.

Is it actually being adopted — with people actually using it? Or adoption in a way that exchanges are listing it? Because the latter isn't really "adoption"; it's just going to be easier for people to buy/sell/trade it. The latter can make it a good trade though, but not necessarily an investment; which are two very different things.
477  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What was your first cryptocurrency? Come share your story! on: February 24, 2024, 06:14:31 AM
Since I've been here(Bitcointalk, and the broader industry) for a good while now, of course, it's Bitcoin!

And there's no special story around it. It's just me, and my hatred of the custodial service that is PayPal for pretty much taking my money for "damages". Hence why I got really interested in Bitcoin, and the rest is history.
478  Other / Meta / Re: Mining stocks subforum? on: February 23, 2024, 04:58:17 AM
The Speculation and/or Trading Discussion would suffice. Mining stocks are such a small subcategory that activity would be freakishly small for it to have its own section. Heck, probably even Ordinals and inscriptions(which don't deserve their own section as well) might have more activity than mining stocks.

480  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Cheapest way to swap USDC to ETH Onchain? on: February 22, 2024, 11:49:52 PM
You're really not going to have a good time if you want to swap anything on-chain on Ethereum base-chain. There's really no going around the fees besides using a CEX.

But yea, like what GreatArkansas said, the best is to use an aggregator like DefiLlama if you want to get the best bang-for-buck. You're still going to pay the hefty on-chain fees though. If you bridge and swap, you're likely to pay more due to worse liquidity I think.
