461  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Making easy profit with "Shitcoins" on: July 01, 2017, 02:34:56 PM
Yeah, that can be true, but also consider that volume is low and profits have a limit. Trading with pocket money is not something interesting to me.

This type of BS is exactly what is wrong with this forum. No information whatsoever, just some random words strung together.
462  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: i have proven the Lightning Network can't provide decentralized scaling. on: July 01, 2017, 02:02:03 PM
Lightning Network is basically Ripple on top of Bitcoin. We don't need another IOU system. We need a peer-to-peer digital cash system.

Nope, wrong. You have no clue.

Not just anyone can open up a Ripple gateway, you need to go through all sorts of formalities and already be a financial mafia *ahem* industry institution (and so you already need to have been through all those cartel initiation ceremonies *ahem* legal/regulatory proceeding and due diligences)

Lightning node? Download the software. Finished.

You missed my point. I'm advocating the main chain for the primary transaction mechanism and using Ripple as a general analogy.
463  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what do u think about Waves & ETC? on: July 01, 2017, 01:23:57 PM
waves coin and etc coin the two different coins, what do u think about those?
Has it any future? Its perfect for trade? If yes then how long?
Ignore my simple word of English.
I said, I am not good at English.

Thanks

Exchange your Waves and ETC into bitcoin for now. I think Satoshi might be back! Cool

I just invested in DIMCOIN ICO and I think I have made the best investment move.

Good luck with that one.

Is this true? Was GLD Goldcoin's lead dev classmates with Ethereum’s dev at University of Waterloo?

In addition, our lead developer, Amir Eslampanah, who was classmates with Ethereum’s Vitalik Buterin at the University of Waterloo, is perhaps one of the best kept secrets in cryptocurrency today.

Ha. I had deleted that Quora answer a couple of hours ago because it felt too much like a sales pitch.

Anyway, I've restored the answer now since you quoted it. Yes, of course it's true!  Cool
467  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Is Coin Control Present in Version 0.8.7.5? on: June 29, 2017, 12:05:48 PM
Our developers are working on a client rebase and have a question: https://github.com/goldcoin/goldcoin/issues/16

Can anyone verify whether or not coin control is present in 0.8.7.5?
468  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: GoldCoin™ (GLD) Thread - The Gold Standard of Digital Currency [OFFICIAL THREAD] on: June 28, 2017, 02:41:16 PM
I was wondering what makes this coin different from clone coins? I'm looking to sell some of my BTCs for a new upcoming coin. Can anyone tell me more about this one?

Goldcoin was established in May of 2013 and is a currency dedicated to reflecting the ideals of its community.

We believe that Satoshi had it right the first time and that many of the current scaling solutions being introduced are "contaminants" to his invention and not improvements. Essentially, Goldcoin is a welcoming home for bitcoin purists.

The OP of this thread contains an overview of our mission. I would suggest looking over that for additional information then asking any specific questions that might arise.

Sunday Meeting June 25 Highlights

Please find below highlights from Sunday's Skype meeting.

1.  In order to increase forum accessibility, a Facebook forum login has been added. This allows users with a Facebook account to signup with one click. I'll look into getting Twitter and Google added this week.

2.  This month was held the first German meetup between Cryptosolar and Stemis (who was traveling to Germany). In addition, node count in the country is at an all-time high and now makes up nearly 5% of the network.

https://www.goldcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3881.0

3.  Gerald Higginbotham continues to raise funds for his Garden of Eden project. More on this project next week.

4.  It was suggested that our meeting time be moved up to avoid conflicts with Sunday church activity. The new meeting time is 7 p.m eastern (6 p.m central).

5.  The GoldCoin Talk forum domain was changed from GLDTALK.ORG to GOLDCOINTALK.ORG. The depreciated domain will continue to provide forwarding service for a minimum of 1 year.

6.  There are indications that our anti SegWit position is attracting bitcoin purists who are disillusioned with the current bitcoin infighting. Goldcoin is 100% committed to Satoshi's original vision which means the primary chain should never be throttled. The code enforces a social contract by its users who demand that Goldcoin remain sovereign, decentralized, and trustless.

7.  Last week Goldcoin reached its all-high in both price and volume with an intraday price of 15 cents on volume of $250,000.00. Source: http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/goldcoin/#charts

8. There have been recent upgrades to the payment gateway and mail server for TryGoldcoin.com. All site email is now routed through Amazon SES while the local SMTP server is being depreciated.

9.  This fall Steve Conley will be kicking off a 19-city Goldcoin Tour speaking at historic black colleges across America.

10. We experienced an over-capacity issue with Skype at the beginning of the meeting. Skype disables audio and video when a group exceeds 24 users. This problem was resolved by removing group users who were not present for the meeting.

11.  Russia now accounts for our third largest country based on node count. It now makes up over 5% of the Goldcoin network. Source: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/gld/#!network

Meetings are now held each Sunday @ 7:00 p.m. eastern time. For info on joining please visit: https://www.facebook.com/groups/goldcointalk/

It would be nice if OP would update the first post with Alcurex echange too, since it is traded there too:
https://alcurex.com/#GLD-BTC

I had updated the OP and the main website but then noticed the exchange is mirroring the Bittrex order books?

Does that mean they are front running Bittrex trades?  Even the highs, lows and volume are the same.

I'm not sure, but it's very unusual.

This Coinmarketcap link appears to accurately reflect the exchanges real trading activity: http://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/alcurex/

472  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: let's go there!! Time to buy all coins at cheap price. all in red. on: June 15, 2017, 08:52:22 PM
Although I don't know the fundamental reason why all the coins are fell in price but I see it as another opportunity to buy cheap. Ethereum fell from $450 to around $323 and bitcoin from $3000 to around $2311. I think I should advise you to buy now so you will not complain in future and call it another pump.

Probably not the best idea to buy everything in sight! lol. Cool

I would advise working to understand where the market is right, and where the market is wrong, then finding opportunity before the corrections.
473  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BIG price correction on Bitcoin and Ethereum, what happened? on: June 15, 2017, 08:47:47 PM
Any idea on why their prices are dropping in the past 3 to 5 days and are continue to do so?

As was stated previously, it's a healthy correction to an overbought market, Ethereum in particular. There's always a disconnect between the market and fundamentals and when that gap becomes too wide we get a correction.

There are still several currencies out there that are undervalued. Find these and you'll find fresh opportunity! Lips sealed

Sunday Meeting June 11 Highlights

There's been a lot going on within the Goldcoin community over the past two weeks. At today's meeting I made the first test of my new mobile Skype rig made up of the new Logitech 4K webcam, Sennheiser headset, and IBM Thinkpad.

I'm building the rig in preparation for next year's North American Goldcoin Tour (see below).  Cool

1.  For the past several weeks all email functions of the forum have been crippled. I mistakenly commented out the openssl extension in PHP on the website server. A friendly Twitter user recently contacted me and alerted me to the problem. Email service has now been fully restored.

Email Bug Thread: https://www.gldtalk.org/index.php?topic=3859.0

2.  Eric has announced he is buying a MAC computer so he can develop the iOS wallet. If you would like to contribute to this project, you can send a GLD donation here: E1A6WogjpqU3KjjoRUD63f7kofrFozmyfg

3.  Recently I've been testing Purse.io by buying various items w/ bitcoin on Amazon. Once the client update is released we can look into the possibility of getting Goldcoin added to ShapeShift making GLD Amazon payments possible.

4.  We're seeing an increase in activity in the Goldcoin telegram group. You can join the group here: https://t.me/goldcointalk

5.  In 2018 we will launch the "North American Goldcoin Tour" whereby I will travel the continent in a Class A motorhome w/ full Goldcoin advertising wrap. I'll be setting up booths at technology conferences, cryptocurrency conferences, and also sponsoring myself in 5K Cross County races decked out in full Goldcoin racing attire.

6.  The United States node count percentage (wallet users in the US) has just exceeded the 50% threshold. Overall Goldcoin node count is also increasing (avg per 24 hours = +300). Source: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/gld/#!network

7.  The team is currently looking for an experienced broadcaster to stream/record our Sunday team meeting. The salary is 1000 GLD per episode. If you are interested in applying for this position, please attend the next Sunday meetings.

8.  Amir has announced an upcoming rebase (likely candidate 0.8.7.5) of the core client. The projected release date for this update is early to mid August. We will provide more details over the coming weeks.

9.  On June 6th, Goldcoin reached an intraday marketcap of US$5,500,000 on volume of $250,000. This was an all-time record for both the price and volume. Source: http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/goldcoin/

10.  Goldcoin payment plugin installed at DrGerald.net is working flawlessly. Order confirmation after transmitting payment occurs in seconds.

11.  There are still over 100 altcoin wallets remaining in the Cryptsy Relief Project. If you are interested in one of these remaining wallets, you should make a request here: https://www.gldtalk.org/index.php?topic=3789.0

12.  TryGoldcoin now has a new merchant account w/ custom payment gateway. We now have the ability to alternate payment processors to increase redundancy lessening the chances of a gateway disruption.

I feel I should warn Devcoin users about MicroGuy.

I am suspicious as to the reasons why MicroGuy is paying so much attention to this coin, while ignoring the issues with his own, especially given his history of deleting posts from his own coin (Goldcoin) thread from users who are reporting problems with his wallet daemon & banning them from posting there again. He is also closing/deleting posts from users who are reporting problems with the GoldCoin wallet daemon on the github repo for GoldCoin and banning them from posting again (me included):

https://github.com/goldcoin/goldcoin/issues/11  (some posts deleted also)

Any mention of wallet problems on either his BCT or github thread is rapidly deleted & the user banned. This is not how development is done & any person/dev who censors/ignores/deletes posts from users regarding wallet faults or problems should be considered dubious at the very least. There is no place for censorship in crypto, especially on github - it goes against the whole ethos of both. Any dev who deletes/censors or bans users for reporting issues on Github is doing it because they either don't know what they are doing, they don't want anyone to know about it or they have some other shady/corrupt reason.

Yes, we devcoin users need all the help we can get for this coin, but not from devs who practice such blatant censorship in trying to hide issues with code.

I can post the messages MicroGuy deleted from his threads, as well as the PM's I got from him if required, but would like to keep this thread on topic

I advise extreme caution with this so called "dev".

There is no undue censorship. The only posts deleted are those disruptive or abusive in nature. Kind and helpful comments are encouraged and always welcome. Unfortunately, moderation is a necessary evil in a world with anonymous trolls and random mischief makers. Smiley

So far all you have done is demonstrate your own fear and insecurity through baseless accusations, name calling, and paranoid conspiracy theories.

EDIT: And just for the record you're the only person I've ever had to take the extreme measure of blocking from Github. Making Github reports attacking the developers and claiming "Goldcoin is not mineable" when it has a hashrate of nearly 2 GH/s is not constructive, and downright silly.
477  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: May 30, 2017, 03:07:02 PM
Regarding the problem with downloading receiver_xx files, guess that this is a great opportunity to reorganize. Those who want to help just bring in new mirrors, I can take care of maintaining the new receivers files so we start re-distributing Devcoin to the new team of contributors starting next block, along with building a new countdown.

That seems like a good idea. When I get some time I'll educate myself on exactly how the block rewards are distributed.

It might help if we could stop the bleeding of these coins back to CoinGather for a while. This list makes the current bleeding a little easier to track: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/dvc/#!rich

Of course funds are needed to maintain the network. So there's nothing wrong with exchanging the reward into LTC, BTC, or USD as long as the money is being put to good use. I'll try to learn more ASAP about how this was originally designed to work. Tongue

The CryptoID Devcoin block explorer is now up and running! https://chainz.cryptoid.info/dvc/

~~

Here are a couple of notes (above my pay grade) from Fairglu for the developers:

The wallet compiled fine AFAICT and is now synchronizing, there were however apparently two leftover debug lines in receiver.h (search for "Number of" messages) which I have commented, let me know if I am somehow on wrong code

Explorer and wallet synchronizing at https://chainz.cryptoid.info/dvc/

Please check if the information so far is correct!

Also I have not read too much on the wiki (mea culpa), but the receiver csv files do list addresses, I could tag them if desirable (and if yes, let me know the label(s))

Please give some advice on how to best respond and I will answer him.
480  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: May 23, 2017, 04:51:39 PM
Update: I'm now in touch with Fairglu and working on getting a CryptoID block explorer sponsored for 1 year. Cheesy

My wallet is not syncing. I thought I'd fixed the problems. It's stuck at 17 hours behind with two active connections to the Devcoin network. I had sent some over to CoinGather and when that deposit didn't show up in my account the next morning I tried to run my Devcoin wallet again to see if the send had confirmed and that's where it's stuck hours and hours later.

Am I going to need to download the entire block chain every time I want to open my wallet? I'd rather not have to leave the wallet always on either.

Any ideas?

Did you download the 2 receiver files as outlined above?

http://faucets.cryptoplace.net/receivers/receiver_69.csv
http://faucets.cryptoplace.net/receivers/receiver_70.csv

Once the wallet gets stuck at around 4 weeks behind, close it and add these 2 files to /roaming/devcoin/receiver/

Yep. Did that. Wallet finally synced last time. Then I closed it. Now it's stuck. I'm afraid that if I just close it it will then give me the "failed to find best block" error message which will mean I'll have to download the entire block chain. again.

Hmm. When I close my Windows client, it works fine when reopened - just has to catch up is all.
