4641  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ATMs doubled every year since 2014 on: April 24, 2019, 11:45:42 PM
According to some sources, Bitcoin ATMs are the rage thing now. They have doubled in number every year since 2015, and the trend has continued. There have been reports of even one of these being installed in Venezuela, and it seems that people is using them, even with the disastrous fees that they are collecting. what do you guys think of Bitcoin ATMs? are they a viable source of onboarding normal people into cryptocurrencies?
Source: https://www.btcnn.com/news/bitcoin-atms-have-doubled-for-the-past-four-years/

I find bitcoin ATMs a little bit underwhelming due to the high transaction fees provided by the system. In addition, only a limited number of ATMs are in my country and most of them are still under development due to maintenance. I do not see the project materializing in the near future but we cannot deny the fact that it's a good start in introducing cryptocurrencies to the public.

If you really want to withdraw your bitcoins for cash, better use your local wallet as some offer exchanges from third-party establishments.

Yes, I already noticed that. Here in our place bitcoin ATM's is increasing also but some of the people are stealing it without the proper knowledge that it has no cash inside. It is good news that bitcoin atm's are increasing year by year it means people are adapting.

They really need to address the high transaction fees or else people would continue to ignore it. But you are right though, it still a continuous development in the widespread adoption of bitcoin and exposure to the public.
4642  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling with your Parents on: April 24, 2019, 11:09:21 PM
Every person has their culture and norms depending on how they were raised by their parents. In my honest opinion, I would not subject my children to any form of gambling but if they were to ask me on how, it is better if I play with them rather than them learning it from other people. Just like what my father told me, it is better to learn drinking from him rather than to other people.

I used to gamble with parents when I was a kid. Blackjack, poker, chess, checkers. But most of the time I lose to my father. Now I understand he cheated all the time  Grin

That's hilarious! It can be also a form of bonding between a parent and a child but you must avoid succumbing to addiction.

4644  Economy / Reputation / Re: Pilipinas' Reputation over Merit Distribution on: April 24, 2019, 04:48:16 PM
Second this.

Our local board is continuously growing and numerous members are actively participating/posting guides around the section. Based from my observation, most of the top-merited users in the forum have received their merits mainly from posting on their respective local board. The lack of a merit source in the Philippines' local board may cause inactivity which can make our boards obsolete in the near future.

4645  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How huge is the job of the legislature in the improvement of Bitcoin? on: April 24, 2019, 04:37:18 PM
It depends on what country are we talking about. Here in the Philippines, the development of regulations and legislation regarding bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies (which are aptly termed as 'digital currencies' by the SEC) has been somewhat warm and receiving, with just a few notices here and there regarding potential scams and other things related to money laundering and other illicit activities. While the spread of information regarding cryptocurrencies here is somewhat slow, the framework is being built, and rightfully so with the government and private entities cooperating with each other.

My colleague actually interviewed the representative lawyer in BSP (Central Bank) and asked questions regarding cryptocurrency. They mentioned that the government does not view bitcoin as a threat but only cautions investors regarding it. But our government does not view bitcoin as legal tender, thus cannot be used as a payment for debts, etc.

In terms of tax, bitcoin mining falls under the category of "other source of income" which is then taxable accordingly to our laws.

4646  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto film brings Bitcoin to Hollywood on: April 24, 2019, 10:03:00 AM
Any info when the film will be released officially and will it be available world wide? The trailer looks so attractive, I hope it will be released soon so it can be the first Bitcoin Film and hopefully it will bring good effects to bitcoin in general. More adoption, more demands, and obviously price boost.

The trailer looks attractive, but we don't know how bitcoin is portrayed in the film. If it is portrayed with all its good and the technology making a big change, following which we can expect a bigger level of adoption of bitcoin from common people who haven't known much about it. If negative things were prioritized surely it'll be a blow to the people who have been with plans to invest on bitcoin.

This could either make or break the general overview of bitcoin to the public. Although it may provide exposure, it heavily depends on how they represented bitcoin in the movie. If they portrayed it as an illegal medium which can be used to purchase guns, etc. then the whole reputation of cryptocurrencies may be put to question.

What matters is that the exposure of bitcoin is spreading throughout Hollywood. This is a big opportunity to showcase its potential and use so that many people would understand its concept and worth to the world.
4647  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Which strategy you apply in recent bullish market? on: April 24, 2019, 06:50:15 AM
If we look some previous day we can see everyday must pump one or more than one coin. And if start to pump then It continuously  cross 50%-100% even 200%. So I want to know how you earn a lot of profit in this market? Have you caught all pumped coin?  If yes Then please explain here so that we can earn profit also.

I would definitely focus on short-term, high-volume low-profit margins of day trading despite having small accretion of income. It is important to note that high-volume trading is important as long as I accumulate profit at the end of the day no matter how low it may be. In-addition, the recent bullish market should be seen as an opportunity to all investors who are hoping to get at least a profit from there investments.

Pump & dumps with shit coins is always a risk, can work, but also can go wrong and you lose everything.

But going with the top5 or even top10 coins is not much risk. Buy whenever you see a dip, sell whenever you feel its time to do so. If you're wrong, simply wait until the next wave.

Higher the risk, higher the reward. Same thing with the top 10 coins in the market being a relatively low risk and reward. Depends if you are well-armed with research and technical analysis, you could try your chances from pump and dump until the next cycle.

4649  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling is an entertainment? on: April 23, 2019, 09:41:40 PM
Most of the people states that gambling is form of entertainment but the reality is different gambling is like business where people look to make more money from investing little money but most of them will get failed.

So in your view gambling is business or entertainment, answer honestly. Cheesy

It depends on one's perspective on how they view gambling either as a form of entertainment or as an alternative way to earn extra income. Each perspective has their respective advantages and disadvantages but both can ultimately lead to addiction which can break someone's life.

We cannot standardly categorize gambling into one type since it really depends on the individual's experience and perspective.

IMO gambling is consist of both making money and entertainment. Personally, I never gamble for making a few bucks and my motivation is having fun while making money. WIthout entertainment, it is hard to judge idea of gambling.

Gambling can be anything, It could be as a form of entertainment, a way to earn extra income, a hobby, or even as a form of bonding among friends or colleagues. Depending on how the individual views gambling, we cannot change the fact that it still has its share of advantages and disadvantages especially when we consider addiction to be the end-game cause of it.
4650  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The middle ground for all skeptics and enthusiasts on: April 23, 2019, 07:01:42 PM
<snip..>

With a revolutionary payment method which deconstructs third-party trust system, the blockchain technology can arguably be the future of payments. But the implementation would be a challenge especially when considering the economic discrepancies between first and third-world countries.

Implementing cryptocurrencies as a standard medium is highly debatable topic among people since it is multi-factorial. In addition, there things to be considered, accepted, and adapted in order to change our conventional fiat system. But I do not see cryptocurrencies as our standard medium anytime soon. Who knows, maybe in the future we might actually see its full-fledged adoption.
4651  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What's your plan if you bought around all time high? on: April 23, 2019, 02:53:01 PM
I want to ask everyone who got into bitcoin towards the end of 2017 and is currently at a loss, like myself  Sad What will you do when the market goes up and you get your money back. Sell or just keep holding?

If I were in your shoes, I would consider selling at least 50% of the coins and let the other half sit and collect dust until I regain its value. I mean let's face it, purchasing bitcoins on its all time glory is suicide for your investments especially if you are considering short-term investments. The other half, I would develop a strategy wherein I would utilize them for day-trading for accumulation of small profit margins.

I bought dome amount of hundred dollars in the end of 2017 and I lose more money on that year.  But I confident the value of the bitcoin will rise so I decided to hold and keep until my capital back and if see the movement will hitted very high more for dure I hold it more years again.

The potential of bitcoin is otherworldly, meaning there is always that opportunity that it might break the all time high somewhere in the future. But that would be the problem as we cannot predict accurately when that specific timeframe would come. Regardless, learn from that experience and develop a plan where you could regain the value of your loss.

4654  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BETIT] Benitoitecoin - POS/MN - Low supply - 0 fee - Instant on: April 23, 2019, 02:55:35 AM
Hi,

Before publishing anything else, it is very important that you prepare all the essentials, including the website, whitepaper, the team members, and all the information about your project. If you sell your coin without posting any details, this would invalidate your project and make it sound suspicious. I highly advise that you fix your website and supplement every needed detail to attract more investors.
4655  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: what do u think will happen 100 years or 1000 years from now on: April 22, 2019, 04:38:59 PM

In 20 years, people will either be saying “Remember when you could buy bitcoin for only 3500?” or “Remember when everyone lost their minds and spent millions on useless internet money?”

One day cryptos might boom in such a way that basically everyone who didn't invest in them will become poor

Hard to speculate but the potentials that cryptocurrency can bring is unparalleled compared to any discoveries made into our payment structure. The introduction of the blockchain technology not only revolutionzed on privacy and transactions but also gave rise to various opportunities to people around the globe.

The problem with cryptocurrencies revolve around its legal status and acceptance to most countries. With its positive effects also bring its negative effects especially when considering its anonymity factor on its transactions. Some individuals use it for illicit means which created a stigma among people. But overall, I believe that the positive merits overwhelmingly outweighs all its negative implications.
4656  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Win in gambling, lose on investing on: April 22, 2019, 12:51:31 PM

Nevertheless, what matters is yung opportunity na nakuha mo dito at yung pagkapanalo mo. Congratulations sa iyo at pag-patuloy mo lang ang iyong pag-reresearch dahil sa simula lang yan mahirap pero once nakapag establish ka na tuloy-tuloy na din yan.
4657  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you have experience betting in a spider fight? on: April 22, 2019, 12:22:54 PM
<snip...>

Back in my grade-school days, there was this vendor outside our school who sells spiders inside matchboxes for P10.00 (0.53$). Me and my classmates would gather in a spot, get and put our spiders in one stick and let them fight to death. Well in those days, I never thought of incorporating gambling as the focus was on the intense fight between spiders!

I am trying my best to not make a dark joke that would certainly be misunderstood.
I can't say that watching spiders fight to the death is something that anyone is going to have a vast amount of experience with. Might be the in the wrong section of the internet for that one.

I'm imagine some creepy scientists in a dark room filming tarantulas fighting to the death.

This is one of the strangest topics I've seen on bitcointalk and I don't doubt that something like this actually goes on in the real world.

No do not get this idea wrong, this kind of hobby is pretty common mostly in developing countries like the Philippines. You could see some vendors outside schools selling these purely for entertainment. What you are referring to is disturbing and is far from what is being portrayed in real life!
4658  Other / Meta / Re: Meriting people over 1k merit on: April 22, 2019, 04:07:09 AM
They (Legendary) don't need merits but if you like their posts then you can give up 1-2 merits, and imo they deserve merits for good posts but not because they need it.

Regardless if they do not need or need it, the purpose of the merit system is to compliment their contribution in the forum.

Yes, merits are one of the determining factor on why we rank-up but we really need to remove the mindset of meriting a user to help them rank-up. Ranking-up in the forum is the by-product of their good work and contribution and should not be the primary reason on why we send merits.

In addition, please provide the WhitePaper of the current project so everyone could see full information and disclosure. Thank you!
