481  Economy / Goods / FS: Safe Cell Bags (iPhone) on: October 31, 2013, 10:42:32 AM
I currently have a small stock of Safe Cell Bags on hand and would like to introduce them to the community at an intro price. The Safe Cell Bag helps protect your privacy and health. This is a project that I was working on quite a few years ago (2008). At this time I can only provide one size that fits the iPhone, if we start to get some good feedback we have plans to make several sizes including bags for tablets. All units are manufactured in the USA.

Safe Cell Bag Overview

Your Safe Cell Bag uses exotic shielding materials to protect you from electromagnetic radiation.
In the technologically-centered world of today, the convenience of cell phones has become an essential part of life.  However, there are side effects of cell phone technology that  are not fully understood.

Scientific evidence of the risk of brain damage, infertility, tumor growth and behavioral problems in children has been increasing.   How can we reduce the risk of using a cell phone, while still carrying one with us?  The solution is the Safe Cell Bag.

What does the Safe Cell Bag do?  It provides a way to shield your phone and choose whether you want to receive calls and messages or not.  When you open the bag up, you will see two pockets.  There is an inner pocket, where the special shielding fabric is enclosing the entire cell phone.  And there is an outer pocket, where the shielding fabric is only on one side of the cell phone, with the unshielded bag material forming the other side.

The inner pocket, when closed securely with the shielding fabric folding over itself and the velcro attached, creates a Faraday Cage where the phone is electrically separated from any and all outside connections.  This means that your phone cannot receive or make any calls, text messages and your phone can't be located by the network, even when it is turned on inside the bag. Simply remove the phone from the bag, and wait for the phone to make connection with the closest cell tower, and you will be able me make and receive calls and texts.  It eliminates the long wait from turning the phone off and on, while at the same time assures your phone is completely safe and separated from all connections.

The outer pocket provides a way to continue to receive calls and texts, while creating a shielding barrier on one side of the bag. This means that you can position the bag to keep the shielded part in between your body and the active phone, keeping the phone from radiating your body while the phone remains connected to the network and you can receive calls as usual.   Either way you use the bag, you will be greatly reducing the exposure to the radiation you get from keeping the phone near your body while in standby mode, waiting to make or receive calls.

Other concerns about using cell phones involve the likelihood that your phone can be accessed without your permission.  This kind of security breach means that all of your contacts and communication records that are contained in the memory of the phone could fall into the hands of identity thieves and criminals.   It also means that your mobile device could be infected with a virus or other malicious code.

Especially since the newer phones can hold hundreds of contact listings, access the entire internet while sending & receiving email, the possibility that your phone could be targeted has greatly increased.  And unfortunately many people just aren't aware of the increased risks to their privacy their mobile phone creates.

By keeping the phone in the inner pocket of the Safe Cell Bag, you can be assured that no one can access your phone, period.   This is perfect to use in a Wi-Fi hotspot or when in any public location.  This also means no more unexpected calls interrupting your important meeting or embarrassing you in a public quiet place.

Not everyone understands how to use all the features of their phone, such as how to disable their bluetooth or change the default password.  However, everyone who has a cell phone, and especially the blue-tooth enabled phones, is at risk of having their data stolen, calls made without their knowledge, calls listened in on or broken into or of being spied on by their phones turned into a bug.  With all of these risks, you still can have peace of mind by combing the Safe Cell Bag with a smart phone security practice, and avoid these dangers.

Currently I have a stock of about 100 pe-packaged units for distribution. I am asking a one time price of $35usd with free shipping either in Paypal or BTC.

We are looking for feedback about this product. Please PM me about orders and feel free to ask questions here.

Time to add an ASICMiner Block Eruper 49 port USB 2.0 hub to the list  Grin

Nice! I've added it to the Special Hubs section. However, I am still trying to find how much they cost by themselves to calculate price per port, or do you need to by 50BEs to get a hub?

Okay got this far and once again thanks. My next question is what is a safe load to run? If my PSU is rated at +5V 22A it should support 44 erupters. Now that is maxing it out at 110VA I know that cant be okay, so my question is at what capacity can I run this or any PSU? I was thinking of running 35 off it and two fans at 12V .85A so that is just about 80% of the +5V 22A rating. Also will that cause voltage drop because I am pulling more than 5A through an 18 gauge wire?

It depends on how well your ATX supply delivers on the 5V rail. I mentioned it before that I have 2 different ATX'es with 25A on 5V., and the older ATX model could power way more BEs than the new one.

You 22A ATX should be good for about 35 BEs (22A/0.6A = 36.6). Just make sure you don't draw more than 8A from a single 4-pin Molex and not more than 12A from a single string (though, again, depending on your ATX, you may get away with 16A per string). You will know if you draw too much, if some of the BEs will randomly stop hashing and light solid green.

Thanks again Nemo I should have this all fixed up today, hopefully. Ill post some pics and maybe it will help someone else with some of the same questions.

Okay so I had some time today to put this all together and test it. I made an album to share some pics of the final project. Thanks again for you help here.
So I found these two PSU's in the recycle bin at the dump where I often pic parts from. This whole project cost me less than $20 and looks about a million times better than having all the hubs plugged into 3 power strips.
Hope this will help some others interested in doing this. http://imgur.com/a/QWLUt#0

How many days does pre-order come before it's in the stores?
If it's the same day, why don't we just buy from stores???

If pre-orders are sold out, than it's likely that there won't be many unreserved consoles on the shelf for some time.

Pretty common thing, can't believe you haven't heard of it. Was that way with the 360, wii, and the PS3 I think.

Hm, well I never actually bought the console the day it came out.  Would that be for all stores?
Besides, I could wait a few days, I wouldn't pay extra for that :p

well,

i thing that it is good thing to wait not because of money but because of OS/firmware bugs..

This is xbox, you mean hardware bugs.

Buy a PC, and mine with it on your downtime. Play games with real graphics. Screw this console garbage.

 Grin agree

Thanks for your input on this sale.
Next time would you please have a discussion about your personal preferences on video game platforms would you please do it in the appropriate thread or even just someplace not the marketplace? I hear the Off-Topic section is a great place to start. Im not even sure why you are in this thread if you have no intention on buying an Xbox.
Im not trying to make some crazy profit on this I would simply like to trade the systems for BTC.
I know when Nintendo Wii was released it was almost impossible to find for months, parents where freaking out about x-mas and what not.
If I don't sell them here Ill just give one to my bother and play the other one  Wink

Why would someone pre-order from you?
Because pre orders are sold out or because someone wants to pay in BTC or trade. Pretty simple really.
That's what I was asking, really.  Are pre-orders sold out?
Yes, they have been for quite some time as far as i know. They are selling for about $650 on ebay.

487  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which USB hub to use with Block Erupters | NanoFury NF1 | BPMC Red Fury? A List. on: October 29, 2013, 09:09:51 AM
The easiest way to go is to take the cable with the barrel plug that already fits your hub. In other words, cut it off from the wall adapter. Then you'll need the other end, something to connect to you PSU. For that, a cut off Molex splitters work fine.

Then you need to figure out where (+) wire on the barrel cable is. It is usually noted on the wall adapter if (+) is in the centre or on the outer ring. You can use some 1,5 volt battery and some appliance to determine which wire is connected to the outer ring.

On D-Link and Rosewill the (+) wire was marked with long dashes.

Connect red wire to the (+) wire of the barrel cable. Connect the black wire to the (-) wire of the barrel cable.

Double-check the above.

Triple-check the above.

The result will look something like this:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=253749.msg3223688#msg3223688

Now, short the green-wired connector to the black one of the ATX PSU to power it up and connect your newly spliced Molex->barrel cable. Connect to the hub. If it seems to work, connect one BE. Still working? Good. Connect the USB cable and try hashing. Connect the rest. Smiley

When powering down, ALWAYS disconnect the USB cable first before powering down the hub.

Thanks for the explanation. Im going to try this later this week.

488  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [UPDATE] BitFury 16 Chip Boards 41.7Gh/s 4.5BTC or $849 on: October 29, 2013, 05:52:55 AM

We all get it is "INSANELY" overpriced.

What I do like about these fabricators is that they are not INSANE or INSANELY rude and are willing to offer something up knowing full well the limits of the difficulty and the costs of production. Using loaded language doesn't help inform the community with regards to the sellers constraints nor does it really convey the intent of the seller. These guys are not ASICminer... or BFL or AVALON... those were INSANELY OVERPRICED units given the delivery failures  of the last two or off the shelf prices of the first company.

These guys are putting out a reasonably priced product in terms of the cost of production and "profit" they hope to achieve. Those who want to scream and shout that everything is 'INSANELY' overpriced seem to me are losing sight of what is arguably more important and that is to have sellers that are not ASICminer, BFL and AVALON who have already proven to consistently under deliver, over promise or price gouged our community. There is value in supporting "INSANELY" overpriced fabricators like Bobsag3, KnC, BlueFury, Bi-Fury, BuzzDave, KnC etc over the companies I have mentioned above. Some of these people really do give a shit about the product and try to be fair within reason with the community and it is demonstratively better we support them as long as they continue to be reasonable and ethical to the community.

At this point if you want to be constructive or help educate the wider community and save people the MOST money and pain:

* Get more people to file FTC complaints against BFL.
* Work to get AVALON to refund people they still owe units or chips to.
* BOYCOTT Avalon GenII and future chips in an effort to send them the message the community isn't going to take that sort of ineptitude.
* Support groups who try and provide units at a more reasonable pricing compared to ASICminer astronomically and wildly over priced Block Erupters were.

In my mind there are some battles worth fighting particularly with respect to ASICminer, BFL and Avalon.

We all know how to calculate "ROI" by now but it might be better to post the actual $ or BTC vs Mining Revenue for life of the unit. Do we need to see it is INSANITY to buy a unit for each and every fabricator? No. So at the very least be more creative or target the real problem companies for the community. If it is not FAIR VALUE... then post the numbers and state why. Vilifying the wrong companies if you ask me is not really that helpful in fact if you are doing that I would suspect it is more a ploy to reduce mining overall more than a PSA to the community. What is your real motive?

Your rite, I realize that I was not contributing to the previous conversation and I should have not responded after my question was answered about a price drop.
I apologize for taking this thread off track.
I have to admit, I did exactly what annoys me all the time. I don't have an alternative motive here I was simply just putting my foot in my mouth. So again i apologize.
489  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Piper: The Raspberry Pi Paper Wallet Printer is now taking orders! on: October 29, 2013, 04:13:36 AM
I agree this is pretty cool!
The only down side I see is that it seems to be a thermal printer and we all know what happens to that paper after it sees some sun or is in your pocket/wallet for too long...
That's a small one on the con list compared to all the pro's.
I dunno how I missed this on Kickstarter.  Undecided

This is insanely overpriced.

Where have I seen this post before?

Probably in every thread you read, doesn't make it any less true...
You could just buy blades for about the same price, have them the next day and start losing money faster  Roll Eyes
491  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [UPDATE] BitFury 16 Chip Boards 41.7Gh/s 4.5BTC or $849 on: October 29, 2013, 12:48:53 AM
Except the part where a avalon mini uses 600w+ by itself, almost 10w/ghash. This is 10 times as efficient.

Avalon, eww.

Your real competition is MegaBigPower with 30 GH/s @ 2.5 BTC.

Or even the Drillbit system that will start shipping buy the end of the week with just a little less per GH/s and the same power usage. But I still just cant see $20gh making money ever, even if its running off no electricity. Never mind making a profit but never even coming close to breaking even. The Avalon example at $13gh will make more back today then this will ever make and even that is high.
So even if you have to pay .15kw/h with the avalon and started mining today you would lose about $290, now if you had your unit in hand today and didnt pay a penny for power you would lose about $383.
I was only trying to see if you had plans to adjust your price to in the ball park to something your customers could break even with. Even with the more efficient power use the +30% higher price still makes it not add up for me. But maybe Im missing something here.
On the other hand Im stoked that you guys are getting such efficient power use with these chips, it gives me great hope for the future and I do agree that this is a great selling point.

495  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / OC/Mods BFL singles? on: October 28, 2013, 01:20:47 AM
I have been poking around but I cant really find anything specific on the subject. Are people over clocking BFL singles? I have seen some people modding the fans and putting new PSU's but I haven't found anything talking about re-flashing or over clocking these little suckers. Any tips on improving performance would be greatly appreciated.

I am in need of 2BTC to continue my venture into this bitcoin world, I have my drivers license from the UK for ID that I can provide you with
I will repay you back 2.5BTC in 2 weeks from the time you lend me the coins, the 2.5BTC will be bought back with my pay money from work

Hope all is well

You told me that you live in Nevada not the UK.

I am located West Coast in the Nevada area and yourself?
500  Economy / Scam Accusations / Beware of user avalonlove on: October 27, 2013, 08:10:42 PM
The user avalonlove registered his account today shortly after his 3rd post he contacted me about a WTB ad I have in the marketplace. He was offering me a few Avalon rigs for 2.5BTC each. After I told him that I was interested only if he could provide proof of ownership and if we use JohnK escrow. He never replied to my offer and almost immediately posted an ad in the market place for the same units. After he posted his ad I contacted him again asking if he was still trying to sell me the units and still no reply. I also noticed that he is asking for a loan for nearly the same amount he was requesting for the units. Seems fishy to me, just be warned and only do trades using escrow.  Wink
