I have filed a complaint with both the CIA (registered number C52WDE)

I was not aware that you could file such a complaint with the CIA.

Yes, this is one of those 'transacted with you/etc.' options.  The point is, they know who you are.

Or they were snooping on you, trying to track down your sock puppet accounts by linking public addresses of other accounts, in order to fill their imaginary neg rep quota for the day. In which case I'd say - they damn well deserve to lose those 50 coins.
483  Other / Off-topic / Re: if you entered your wallet and you found 50BTC what you will do ? on: August 26, 2015, 11:49:09 AM
With few exceptions I give out unique addresses for each payer. If I found an unexpected 50 BTC in my wallet I would contact the payer to whom I had previously give out the address to. If he/she does not know anything about it, I will keep the 50 BTC!
484  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BIP101 and 8GB blocks by 2036 on: August 25, 2015, 07:19:39 AM
Running a node has never been free. There was always a cost but so far people have just eaten up the cost. If bigger blocks come too fast what I think will happen is that we will see less nodes run by monetary freedom enthusiasts and more datacenter-style nodes run by for-profit organizations. I hope advances in technology can blunt the effects of this, but we definitely need to find another dimension to scale up in addition to simply increasing blocksize indefinitely.
485  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: No less than 250 Bitcoin XT nodes are virtual servers, likely free trials on: August 25, 2015, 06:19:18 AM
to get 75% power there are only about 10 nodes that matter, 15 if you want to be really generous.  Either XT gets the support of those 10 nodes or it doesn't.

the other 5000 nodes are just helping to spread out transactions, which is actually what nodes should be doing.  virtual servers or on somebody's box at home with high speed, it is almost always a plus for the network unless they are on some really old hardware and really slow dial up and is faulty in other ways then it hurts the network.  VPNs hosting XT are none of those things.
If the nodes ignored blocks broadcast from the pools mining the altcoin XT wouldn't that increase orphan rate for those pools?

It may, but I would imagine that the XT miners could easily make direct connections to one another to lessen this problem. Besides XT blocks are no longer competing with core blocks at this point in time, and it is best for XT and core nodes to only connect to other nodes of the same kind. After the fork, it would be a waste of network resources for an XT node to connect to core node (or vice versa) because nothing useful can be exchanged over the connection.
486  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the hell are people still selling at these prices? on: August 25, 2015, 05:44:04 AM
You can see that even here on Bitcointalk many users doesn't know a shit about Bitcoin, so you can be sure that most speculators have no clue about what they have in their hands.

which makes bitcoin the failure  Shocked

Not necessarily, because Bitcoin is much more than just about speculation. For those who only view it as a purely speculative instrument they deserve to lose their shirts for investing in things they don't understand.
487  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If using cryptocurrencies become a crime, will you be a criminal? on: August 24, 2015, 11:57:31 PM
If breathing oxygen becomes a crime, will you be a criminal?

All I can think of is: "Cohagen! You've got what you want! Give these people air!"

If it gets this bad we will overthrow the government and make breathing legal again, no doubt about it. It is very difficult for the government to impose unreasonable restrictions and expect people to live in a free enough manner to make enough wealth that can be "reasonably" taxed.
488  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the plan to recover after XT Takeover ?? on: August 21, 2015, 11:49:47 PM
Transaction fees have to be enough to sustain the security of the network.  And that means bigger blocks.

Large blocks are useless if they end up getting orphaned and the potential fees vanish into thin air. Miners will keep adding transactions to their blocks up to the point where their orphan rate becomes unacceptable. This depends amongst other things on the size of the blocks other miners are building.
489  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Criminals (Thats what "non" Criminals called them ) are the base on: August 21, 2015, 02:43:42 AM
Cryptocurrencies, fiat or other monetary instruments are just tools. Ideally they should work equally well for both criminals and non-criminals. Once you start building in features that would make it harder for the criminal-of-the-day to use the tool then becomes a piece of shit.
490  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your Bitcoin birthday? on: August 20, 2015, 11:38:13 PM
Around 8/2010 I solo mined two 50 BTC blocks on a Dell 2950 server but I never saved the wallet.

One of my current wallets goes back to 4/23/2011 where the first transaction was a payment from Deepbit. This is my official born again date that I can prove.

491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How about community takeover? on: August 20, 2015, 06:51:27 AM
There is very little incentive for developers with the right skill set to jump into this role.

well the ones that need incentives arent the ones you want for this kinda project  Cool

Yes, inheriting a second hand open source project and cleaning up the mess in a contentious environment requires a special type of soft skill that many lack.
492  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin XT has code which downloads your IP address to facilitate blacklisting on: August 20, 2015, 01:14:08 AM
is it even on github ?

Of course it is: https://github.com/bitcoinxt/bitcoinxt

I just downloaded the entire damned repository but have yet to look at a single line of code.
493  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How about community takeover? on: August 20, 2015, 12:49:01 AM
There is very little incentive for developers with the right skill set to jump into this role. Besides, what guarantees are there that this new group would better align with your particular needs?

494  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What would happen if employees got paid in Bitcoin? Share your opinions! on: August 19, 2015, 11:21:32 AM
If you work in the US you can get paid in Bitcoin if your pay is direct deposited.

Use http://www.bitwage.co

More and more people are getting paid in Bitcoin weekly.

I've set it up so that I get about 5% of my salary this way.
495  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Localbitcoins 2-FA reset is designed by total idiots on: August 18, 2015, 05:18:22 AM
I always make a hard copy of the image of the 2FA QR code and put it in a safe. When I throw away my phone every 6 weeks or so I can set Google Authenticator on the new phone just by scanning the picture.
496  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Local bitcoins is a toxic environment on: August 17, 2015, 03:17:59 AM
How is selling bitcoin to a victim of ransomeware illegal?

I am not 100% sure but is sounds like having something to do with facilitating a crime. Just like paying a ransom to ISIS to not chop off the head of your kidnapped family member is technically a crime in the US, but one which is seldom prosecuted because it would make the authorities look bad. On the other hand prosecuting bitcoin dealers on technicalities seems to be the name of the game these days.
497  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Local bitcoins is a toxic environment on: August 17, 2015, 03:00:50 AM
I get all good reviews from my actual customers. A couple of other local dealers took the liberty of leaving me negative reviews even though we have never done business. Also it seems like half the trade requests I get are from cops so I ignore almost all of them. It's a toxic marketplace that can bring trouble your way, so I barely use it.

You have cops that send you requests? How do you know that they are cops? I haven't been here in a while, but refresh my memory, it's not illegal, right?
I got about 5-10 different requests for bitcoins for ransom ware, not half of all my requests so I was exaggerating, but they are obviously fishing for bitcoin dealers. Only cops explicitly tell you things like that.
You mean like drug dealers? Your wording is confusing me. So selling bitcoins isn't illegal, right?
Ransomware is when a hacker takes over your computer and demands bitcoin. Selling bitcoins to victims of ransomware is 100% illegal. Selling bitcoins when there's no obvious crime is not illegal, just grey area.

Is buying bitcoins to pay for ransomware illegal as well? It should be, and if it is not then the law is retarded.
498  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is Forking on: August 16, 2015, 12:46:23 PM
and if this fork success and we give such a big power to only one developer in the system who says that in the future this person will not decide to fork again the system and completely change it like to increase the bitcoins number, to change the mining system etc.
Is not good in the human history when one and only one person has the power to rule a system. If this happen this system is going to fail asap.

Well, it could be said that there are 2 developers, but I don't really like the second one (not personally, just what he stands for). Regardless I strongly feel this way too and I won't consider supporting XT until it is backed by a diverse group of developers, including a few with privacy conscious views.
499  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is Forking on: August 16, 2015, 07:32:15 AM
The real change in BitcoinXT is not the technology, but the opportunity to break the stalemate from making changes to the technology. In a sense, this is more about creating a more open system for adopting changes.

Great! Where do I sign up to be an XT core developer?
500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What are the downsides to 8MB blocks? on: August 15, 2015, 08:54:32 AM
Storage and internet bandwidth are not really an issue these days. The real issue is the CPU resources used during block validation. Every new block that a node receives has to be validated against the known blockchain. This includes blocks that a new node downloads for the very first time. Some idiots are still running nodes on Raspberry Pis or Beagle Bones. When/if we move to 8MB, these nodes will not be able to cope with the larger blocks in a reasonable amount of time.

If you run a p2pool node and bitcoin node on the same machine (like I did), you already see a problem today when 1MB blocks come in and you are running anything less than a 4-core current generation CPU. My solution was to run p2pool and bitcoind on separate i7 machines, which was a pain in the ass but my setup can now handle 1MB blocks without too many orphans of p2pool shares.
