Does anyone know
If stock November Jupiter is 1 watt per gh
Or 1.3 watt per gh

At wall?
1.3 ... or more if you use the Padrino firmware. I just shut down my last Nov Jupiter 5 minutes ago.
1062  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain AntMiner S2 Setup [HD] on: July 09, 2014, 12:43:26 AM
Just got an S2 today.  For some reason I can't get the miner to keep my pool settings after shutdown.
I update the pools and change the IP address no problem.  It runs on my pools and I can access it on the new IP address. But then if I do a reset or just shut it down and restart it all the changes are gone.  It's back to the factory settings.
I can't find anything in the manual that I'm doing wrong or not doing.  Any suggestions?
Replace the SD card and it will fix it. Just need a $5 4GB one from amazon

no need for the new SD card. See my post on the main thread. i had exactly the same condition. Solution: download the latest (6/19) tar file from Bitmain support on your laptop. While connected to the miner from the laptop, go to upgrade, search for the file, then flash. the "wheel" will be turning. wait...they say a minute, I waited five just in case because the 'wheel" never stops turning, disconnect the ethernet cable from the laptop back to router. power cycle the miner-and you are good to go to set up the new ip address, settings, etc.

Its a symptom of something larger though, he can flash to his hearts content but theres no point when there's a $5 fix.

most likely-not because they specifically acknowledged exactly this problem in their recent software update
Quote
fix bug: miner configuration can't saved in the SD card occasionally.

The last S2 I ordered refused to save the configuration changes I made.

- 6/19 firmware did not help
- new SD cards did not help

It turned out that the third partition /dev/mmcblk0p3 of the SD card refused to mount to the /config directory, meaning that any files saved to /config would not be persistent and would be lost once the system was rebooted or powered down.

I finally fixed the problem by buying a replacement Beaglebone Black Rev C from Amazon. Apparently there was something wrong with the SD card reader/writer of the original BBB.

0.03% is such a small amount for all the bad publicity that comes
That is just the foot in the door.
1064  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ASICS killing BTC ? on: July 06, 2014, 06:08:28 AM
Yeah, damn those Greedy Miners and their Evil ASICs. The Decentralized Commoner should be able to mine coins with their GPU and get their share of the wealth Roll Eyes.

Guess the solution to this would be to design a custom algorithm for some shit coin that nobody wants and no one would bother to design an ASIC for it.
1065  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Exchanges and Privacy? KYC? on: July 06, 2014, 04:13:03 AM
If you want you use an exchange as a pseudo mixing service use one without KYC, such as localbitcoins.
1066  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: TOO MANY BITCOINERS on: July 05, 2014, 08:17:11 PM
Maybe your just trolling me here to push your blog and website, but it's really bad for conversations.

I don't want your Devcoin, they are worthless, just like every other damn coin other then bitcoin.

To the average person, those things are just plain stupid until they can walk into Starbucks and buy grande latte mocha frappe whatever you call that stuff.

heck, i can walk into home depot and pay with my paypal account, I dont even need my wallet. just tap tap on the screen and punch some stuff in and bam, i got a pick, i can mine gold now.  Wink

I am not pushing Devcoin, it is just the only coin you can get without mining. Then trade them for Bitcoin and have Bitcoins to use in the community.
There is NO OTHER WAY to do it like that.

If there was another, BETTER coin for it, I would have told you about it. But there isn't.
Are we talking about the devcoin that is currently worth 15 satoshis each? You can't be serious.
1067  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official BITMINE CoinCraft series 28nm ASIC miners thread on: June 29, 2014, 10:21:24 AM
Bankruptcy in Switzerland is a bit different.

When a company is under seizure, all their assets are blocked and people who have claimed they rights during the seizure process gets something (never more than the company owe them). The rest of the assets are placed under an auction ( like ebay in reel) and are sold to the best bidder until everybody has been paid back.

After the seizure, the company can still be viable if they still have some assets left.
I certainly hope that customers who are still owed product will get a right to claim something if this ever happened. It is not just the "refund list" people who should benefit.
1068  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if someday Bitcoin Foundation votes to remove 21M limitation? on: June 28, 2014, 11:11:25 AM
"Satoshi Nakamoto" - is just a name. Whoever has git source code push permission has the real power.
Someone could easily set up an alternate repository and build system if the need ever arises.
1069  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin might soon make your 401k obsolete on: June 27, 2014, 12:39:59 PM
401K's usually have a company matching contribution. Sometimes the company match is 100% of what you put in. In these cases it usually pays to maintain a 401K while you are working just for the free money. When you leave the company, you could cash out, pay the taxes/penalties, and buy BTC with what is left. Or roll everything over into a self-directed IRA.

Somebody PM'ed me asking for pics of how I soldered a second connector. Well, I don't have any but here is how it looks from the outside. Basically I bought PCI-e splitters from eBay and sacrificed them for the female receptacles. I used 14 AWG black and yellow wires and soldered those to the bottom of board under the location of the original connector.

1071  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is it so hard to regulate Bitcoin? on: June 26, 2014, 05:44:59 AM
do you honestly think that activision should only get 1 payment of $50 for call of duty... and then the rest of the 7billion people dont have to pay because that single person that bought it, then copied it 7 billion times

do you really think that teams of hundreds of people working for over a year on the game should get a split of only $50 (meaning each employee is only paid a couple cents for a years work)....
Hard to argue this point. Most open source games are pure crap. Even open source technologies such as the id Tech 3D engine started off as closed source.
1072  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 26, 2014, 01:12:15 AM
Peeps....
I thought every miner knew....

You should only use SINGLE RAIL PSU'S
anything else you are wasting $ and taking huge risks imho

Multi-rail PSU's are SHIT,
I burnt out a couple last Generation before going to all Corsair single-rail
Even when the multi's "worked", they could not keep up with the rest
Even 5 year old-crappy used HP desktop PSU's were better. Just sayin'

Yeah.  Even when the multi-rails are powerful enough to run mining gear by spec,  I seem to have much more problems with multi-rail then single rail PSUs.  I'd go for a 1200 Corsair over a 1500 Enermax any day. And I'd go for a server PSU over both =)

Over on the KNC board there are several complaints that the Corsair AX1200i's are shutting down at startup presumably because of the protection mechanism built into the PSU.
Yeah, I needed to solder a second connector for each Neptune box. After that one AX1200i was able to power 3 boxes at 475 MHz through 6 PCI-e cables.

Just got tracking numbers for all of my CA orders.
1074  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Jeff Garzik's Bitcoin Balance Revealed on: June 22, 2014, 02:35:50 AM
How come there are people who use Bitcoin but don't know who Jeff Garzik is? Is it because they don't appreciate the technology part of it and only care about the user and business aspects of it? I guess he's been pretty low key on the forums lately, but his name is still all over the source code.
1075  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: June 22, 2014, 12:02:17 AM
So I enabled the cloud hashing option on 2 CA batch Nepture orders that are already "In progress". I guess that was a retarded thing to do?

Note: I don't really want another 2 Neptunes in August, but now I am thinking they may be worth something on eBay.
1076  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is China so important for Bitcoin? on: June 21, 2014, 06:58:35 AM
Whys is China important? Because a lot of ASIC mining components end up getting fabricated in China, even if designed elsewhere.

As far as banning Bitcoin in China I couldn't care less.
1077  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - Best W/GH/s ratio, Best $/GH/s ratio on: June 21, 2014, 06:27:29 AM
It is hard to make arrangements to co-locate your mining gear all because they're cutting into your profits which are so tight to begin with. The miners that have their own data center, free electricity and noise is not a factor will be pretty much these last mining rigs coming out can handle.  After the middle of this year my guess the "consumer" is pretty much out of the equation due to power requirements, even louder gear and just the size of the hardware. Maybe 1 out of 10 people have their own rack in their basement but that's also in a small community in itself. I'm still trying to figure a way to get an SP30 and not having enough money isn't the problem. Price and logistics have made their way into my life.

Traditional colo is dying out making way for cloud hosting. There are plenty of under-utilized data centers looking to lease their space out. I was able to work out deals where the cost of the rack space AND power is less than the residential rate power I would have paid at home. You just need to know where to look, because these DCs don't usually advertise.
1078  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official BITMINE CoinCraft series 28nm ASIC miners thread on: June 20, 2014, 03:15:35 AM

This was on one of my CoinCraft Desk modules, which draws around 200W.

Replacing the connectors was a pain in the butt.  It took me about 4 hours from start to finish.
Whoa! Has anyone else had an issue with pci-e connectors on Coincraft Desks?
Should we be replacing the stock ones with better ones? What is recommended?
I had to open up one Desk unit at the DC because some cards stopped hashing. It turned out that the ribbon cable that runs on top of the cards was loose on a couple of the cards and just needed to be pushed down. I also noticed that the PCI-e connector on one of the hashing cards was very warm to the touch. I sprayed contact cleaner into the pins, replugged the connector and it seemed to help cool it down. That was 2 weeks ago and the DC guy has not yet called me about burning smells coming from my rack.

First, I hope that your communication of the future does NOT change the course of history,
Don't be silly. Of course it will. We will now never see that chart.

BitFury rig: the long term effect of running 550 watts through 2 x PCI-e 6-pin connectors. The quick repair job was to solder the wires from 4 x 6-pin connectors directly to the bottom of board and this has worked fine since.
