I have arguments for you to ask about instamine. How many times should I repeat until you say something on the matter?

1) Open-source optimized miner: when?
Now, ND is submitting the PR.

Quote
2) Difficulty skyrocket overnight: why?
No idea, it's a private decentralized P2P network.

Quote
3) And if TFT assists you, how come you guys claim he's off the table on the previous pages? And if he actually helps, why do you still have a second rep, which you, tacotime, have to keep up to date?

Come on, stop pretending to see bots everywhere. I raise my concerns, you have nothing even to say regarding them. I think this is self-explaining.
I'm not sure why he doesn't update his repo. I have submitted PRs to it. Since it isn't being maintained, we have to maintain our own to ensure the fork stays up to date.

We wanted MRO to be ready before the Bytecoin ninjamine take the lead. In a way, fast release helped fighting premine.

The hell it did! All it did was help you turn everything to your advantage while people had no time to react.

I don't know if these guys actually believe that or they think we are all stupid. Ninja Launch only benefit those in the know. With new algos, miners, and no gui really left out many people that come here. I missed the launch by two weeks and have less than 1000 coins now after mining for about 10 days. Tell us how many coins you guys mined in the first 10 days.

~450, now my miners are off.
483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 07, 2014, 05:39:47 PM
There is no "dev team".  There is a community of people working on various aspects of the coin.

I've been keeping the repo up to date.
NoodleDoodle likes to optimise his miner.
TFT started the fork and also assists when things break.
othe's been working on a GUI.
zone117x has been working on a pool.

It's a decentralized effort to maintain the fork, not a strawman team of leet hackers who dwell in the underbellies of the internet and conspire for instamines.
484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BMR vs MRO. Time to make it fair. on: May 07, 2014, 05:12:14 PM
This is kind of silly... anyone can make a bunch of profiles on here and vote it one way or the other.

If TFT wants to continue bitmonero as a separate fork he can easily do so by introducing some hardfork change into his repo.  monero-project repo will continue on its own. So far I have only introduced softforking changes, and both our clients are compatible with the network, though his is out of date.

Anyone can make the second announcement of the fresh coin.
Anyone can make optimized miner and pretend to be saints.

This is silly.

I'm sorry I've been maintaining the bitmonero/monero fork and haven't introduced any hardfork changes?

What is the fair way?

I'm not sure. I was never in favour of renaming the client itself from bitmonero. I wanted the daemon and protocol to be referred to as Bitmonero while naming the project name and coin itself Monero. Hence in the repo it's being maintained as "bitmonero".

Bitmonero is a good name for a client or protocol, monero is a good name for a currency.

Since people like both names, is this not a reasonable compromise?

Yeah, "no instamine, no arguments".

How do you explain this raise? How do I know you don't secretly mine the coin with ultra-optimized miner. I'd like to see my points answered.

Someone made an optimized miner or started a botnet.  This has no impact on fungibility of the coin later. Artforz mined the shit out of Bitcoin with GPUs before anyone else, and there were numerous botnets on LTC.  Someone is being rewarded for their own work in obtaining a greater hashrate.  I'm not going to point fingers and shout that it's unfair.
488  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 07, 2014, 03:23:11 PM
I guess if bytecoin guys give a fuck about community and tft actually responded to what people say he wouldnt lose control of a coin so miserably as it seems he deserves.

That's so rude of you, man.

Yes man its rude. I know.  But from the start this was exackly what i saw you doing. Instead of creating a coin that could be great you just wanted to make bytecoin's price rise.
And then when community didnt want merge mining you just disappeared...

Edit: I am sorry for being aggresive but i hate premine

In favor of instamine, may I ask? Smiley

Wasnt tft that made the mistake with the curve? I may be wrong here but i think it was tft's mistake that the coin is being mined faster than proposed...And voices were heard that it wasnt a mistake...

And you know what, no i dont like instamine. I prefer it 10 times over premine. Make a coin with no premine and no instamine and i will support it with my full power. Seriously.

There is no instamine. Difficulty adjustment is per block.  Blocks are coming in at almost the same rate they were a few days ago. Instamine refers to setting block reward artificially high or difficulty artificially low at the start of the chain, which has never happened with this coin.
489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 07, 2014, 03:02:28 PM
Yes, thank you for the list, it makes the best concentration of the lie in this topic.
Insulting => not going to reply. This has nothing to do with whether insult are justified or not. This is a matter of courtesy, I don't reply to people who resort to insult.
Now, if you apologize for your insult, I will gladly reply.

May I apologize for calling a scammer a scammer. Or you were insulted by the fact you didn't know how to check hash rate? I'm very very sorry.

I am insulted by the way you treat your "community".

Now will you stop winning time and start explaining?

It's rather bizarre that you're calling this an "instamine" scam when you're so fervently supporting BCN, which was mined 80% before entering the clearnet.  Difficulty adjustments are per block, so there is no possibility of an instamine unless you don't publish your blockchain (emission is regular at the preset interval, and scales adequately with the network hash rate).  What you're accusing monero of is exactly what ByteCoin did.
490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 07, 2014, 01:50:53 PM
Hmm so how exactly its more anon than most coins. Can someone post more detailed explanation how multiple signatures are implemented with POW? Usually 1 key controls x amount of coins. By simply adding mixer? Cheesy

Stealth addressing and ring signatures that obscure the signer of accounts.  It also has automated denominations.

Difficulty is absolutely insane now, over 5,100,000

Yes, but doesn't appear to be related to MMing as fantom HR is relatively low.

So, not sure. I did push the 32-bit update the other day, it could be a botnet.
492  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures - CPU only on: May 06, 2014, 06:00:42 PM
There is another egregious flaw in the proof-of-work algorithm.

AES encryption is being employed as the hash function and assumed to be a random oracle with perfect distribution in order to provide the randomized memory access. Problem is that AES is not suitable as a hash (certainly not when employed as encryption) for it has too small of a output space (repeating patterns will be over a few number of bits), thus it will be possible to attack this with an algorithm to reduce the scatchpad size size significantly from the 2MB.

In the memory hard phase, and it uses 256-bit key sizes.  This is followed by a number of SHA3 candidates at the bottom.  Even if you broke the memory hard AES phase, you'd still have to contend with those.

So, whoever breaks 256-bit AES keys in the memory hard section is awarded most of the hash rate for the network. Good for them, and good luck to them.

I have no real concern with keeping it "CPU only". Whoever innovates the first GPU miner or ASIC miner or whatever should be rewarded accordingly for their efforts.

What does this error mean:
2014-May-06 19:14:05.094144 [P2P7]ERROR c:\temp\bytecoin\bitmonero-master-current\contrib\epee\include\net\abstract_tcp_server2.inl:307 send que size is more than ABSTRACT_SERVER_SEND_QUE_MAX_COUNT(100), shutting down connection
2014-May-06 19:14:05.102144 [P2P7]ERROR c:\temp\bytecoin\bitmonero-master-current\contrib\epee\include\net\levin_protocol_handler_async.h:638 [115.217.180.35:18080 OUT]Failed to do_send()

"Failed to do_send()"? I'm not trying to send anything.

It's a known bug that needs to be fixed, the server send queue doesn't purge after a certain amount of time and tries to make a billion outbound connections. I'm hoping to fix it soon, but in the meantime just restart the daemon to fix it.

You're the developers after all. It's a good approach for a developer: we're instamining - you can too, if you're good enough! Promising coin - no shit. Grin

I buy my coins, and so am not terribly interested in who/what is mining them. I mined a bunch of blocks initially but not any longer. If someone spends hours of their free time coding an optimized miner to reap some reward, then I applaud them.
495  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures - CPU only on: May 06, 2014, 03:43:51 PM
Blame BCN developers - instamine yourself. Nice catchphrase you got here Grin

And here i thought people went to MRO to have a “clean” start but nope! instamining it with a fast linux hash... Cool! Grin

You're welcome to optimize your own miner if you're so interested; you have the source code. Artforz GPU mined Bitcoin for a long time on his private OCL code on 4870s and got thousands of them. Bitcoin survives to this day, or so I'm told.
496  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BMR] Bitmonero - a new coin based on CryptoNote technology - LAUNCHED on: May 06, 2014, 02:33:28 PM
Yup, diff is through the roof, any ETA on pool?

open source pool software is in active development (see other thread)
497  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: Minergate [POOL] [BCN] - www.minergate.com on: May 06, 2014, 02:23:03 PM
We need optimized miner.
Like Monero have.

NopeDope please release it, don't hold it for closed group.

Hello!

Can you elaborate on this? Is there a source code for it we can look up to?
It should be here https://github.com/monero-project/bitmonero  it is much better optimised for windows. Also BCN diff today reached all time high 4.27m  Grin

Compiled it. No changes in hashrate detected. Ubuntu 13.10

Hey,
NoodleDoodle optimized the slow hash code recently to about 225% performance. However, he has decided not to release the source code and has only released binaries. I think he is enjoying mining MRO with very high hash rates from Linux right now. Eventually we hope he will release the code.

Our git repo has the same code as BCN 0.8.6, so will be the same speed.

ok. you will have to sell all your mro to fix the market price, because the market is wrong.
499  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [BMR] and [BCN] Don't panic! All your ERO are safe. Fix will come soon. on: May 06, 2014, 01:56:58 PM
0.8.6 linux binaries

As promised, I did Russian translation of main topic. Here is:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=597225.0
Please, OP, add reference in Translations sections. Thanks.
It isn't Google translation  Wink

I would like to translate main thread in Russian. We need to grow Monero community.

P.S. Hi-quality Russian translation most wanted? PM me.
Thanks!
