Hi Guys

Lately I've been seeing avalon 2 for sale on our local kijjiji.  They are claiming that it's 220-240GH/s and they are asking $3000 - 3500 for it. I don't know much about bitcoins and the speed of hashing needed now to regain the investment.

So my question to you guys that are experienced is, would it be worth getting one or two of those now?  those are sold for Canadian dollars and not taxes, straight cash.

mining calculators shows about 80 days to regain my investment.  Is this pretty accurate for those that are mining now?

And finally, anyone used those miners and what are your thoughts of them?

Thank you.
Be very careful about buying from places like those classified sites and overseas merchants like alibaba or aliexpress. Many of those merchants are fake, request BTC payment, and then switch shops. As others have stated, it will be more profitable to hold those coins. If, for some reason, you do decide to order something from one of those type sites, please use a protected payment such as paypal.

Winterparker just reserved the rest of them a few minutes ago, my apologies. If the deal between him and I falls through, I will contact you. Thank you for the offer.

What diameter are the stickers?
The stickers are approx 1", while the backside of the coin is ~1.25". It fits just about perfectly.

How much BTC for 10?
10 with stickers? I can probably do right around $16-17 which includes shipping via First Class in the US only.
Yes 10 with stickers...first class is fine. How much in BTC is that?
Using preev.com, with mtgox disabled, it is 0.02787 BTC. Payable to 1Nd9X8mvTmfjmMuU5xUDh9E1djaeXwBfFi . Once payment is confirmed, i'll update the thread, pack your order up, and send you the tracking number.

BTC0.03 for the set (assuming lowest-rate shipping is included to Toronto area)
Too low, that's less than half what I originally paid for just the coins themselves. Not including the security overlays and shipping. Thank you for your offer though.
492  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Aluminum Casascius Coins with security stickers on: February 17, 2014, 12:22:19 AM
the lowest one i see on Ebay is $1.99 But i can't stand Ebay and paypal. it's a buy it now too.
$1.99 for just one of them? That's too high, I couldn't charge you that much.
493  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Aluminum Casascius Coins with security stickers on: February 17, 2014, 12:16:54 AM
I see these on Ebay how much you looking for?
I can match any reasonable price. Shoot me an offer. I can have it out in the mail in the morning. Shipping in the US would only be $3 or so for First Class w/tracking (2-5 days), and $6 for Priority w/tracking (2-3 days) and $50 insurance. I'm a master shipper, so they wouldn't just be thrown in an envelope with a stamp or something cheap like that.

I have 31 21 aluminum Casascius coins for sale. These are the blank back side ones that Mike brought to the Bitcoin Conference last year (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=204662.0). They will come with custom fit security stickers I had made. I used some of these as handouts several months back, and it worked very well. Prefer a North American buyer, but will ship anywhere at the buyer's expense. Open to offers.

you should be able to recoup your losses in 1-2 months. so will i try to

but dont loose your faith in bitcoin and miners
here are lots of black sheep but the fluffy white ones too!

Yeah thanks for the idea, but i probably wont be around long enough too see that happen im afrade...i would take to long saving the money and i was gonna travel to the United States this summer because i had too, i´m afrade the window is closing in on me now.

So you bet your entire existence on 2.2 BTC worth of mining kit? What kind of illness do you have to warrant such a gamble?

Yeah i did bet my entire savings on bitcoin because it really seemed like a good gamble , best i had annyways...cause i been sick for so long i already have loans etc. But not that it its you buisness but i was going to have a stem cell treatment for my neurological dissorder that cost a little more than 2.2btc , but with my plan in investing coins via valuta bitcoins options i may or may not have made it but at least there was hope...wanna give me a smug english remark for that one maybee? tell me how stupid i was or some other rude comment .....seriously you havent lost coins, you arent contributing to annything other then shit talking about people using theire brains etc...well its time for you too use your own and get lost...
Where do you go to that does stem cell treatments for so cheap (2.2 btc is < $1500)? A friend of mine has Multiple Sclerosis and she pays upwards of $15,000-$25,000 per treatment. I would love to be able to recommend to her a more affordable clinic.

498  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: AvalonShenzhen BATCH4 - 25 Avalon 215GH/s BTC1.10 - SCAM!!! on: February 16, 2014, 09:05:38 PM
Just to clear the record, AvalonShenzhen did NOT have a negative trust rating on February 14th, 2014 the day I placed an order for 1 miner. In fact he had 0 trust rating like most everyone here. It's disingenious of anyone to say that he had negative rating and that you should never have sent any bitcoins to someone with negative trust rating such as him. That's just not true.

For proof, here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=223312

You can clear see that the perp did NOT receive a negative rating until the 15th of February, that is when he folded his tent, took the money and ran. I had placed my order for a miner on the 14th February, how could I have known about the negative rating at the time? The mods and more senior members are saying that the neg trust should have raised a red flag, but no one gave the perp a negative rating until after the perp took the money and ran!

It's all after the fact.

Clearly the system is broken. They are blaming the victims, even mocking us. You know what? Karma is a bitch. You will get yours. Thousand folds. F*ck you, you know who you are.
Click untrusted feedback on his trust page. You'll see negatives going back to the 11th. He only closed up shop when i stumbled upon the thread (thanks to nottm28), and rated him down accordingly. Unfortunately, I have not mastered the art of time travel....yet.
499  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcrea - Professional Graphic Design Services - BEST PRICE GUARANTEE! on: February 16, 2014, 08:57:16 PM
I hired Bitcrea to do a logo for a soon to launch company. I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted, but BitCrea was able to take what i thought was an already stellar logo and make it better. He provided me with 3-4 unique concepts and revisions. One of the designs he came up with on his own ended up replacing my idea for the logo. It was that well done. Communication was always fast and professional. This is not the typical armchair artist so prevalent here on the forums. This guy is a true professional. I would recommend his services without hesitation, and he has earned my future business.
500  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: AvalonShenzhen SCAMMER on: February 16, 2014, 08:50:36 PM
I did NOT see any negative trust rating on AvalonShenzhen. Maybe it was buried somewhere but not open and accessible in the open, as it should be.

As I and others have said, this forum is tailor-made for scammers.

Please stop blaming the victims, you come across as someone so arrogant as if you will NEVER be scammed in your whole life.

If you have the time and energy to blame the victims, do something constructive instead, like improving the way self-moderated thread work so scammers don't take advantage, improving the negative trust rating so it's out and open so scammers and would-be scammers are exposed in the open, don't hide the negative rating.

Before you start accusing us vicitms, think to yourself "How would I feel if someone raped me?" Because that's how awful it is.
You're not thinking this through. Your way of doing the trust system would just enable massive + or - trust with no limitations. People could falsely inflate or deflate someone's trust in moments. The way it is setup now, to earn the green trust you have to have a positive enough trade or experience with a trusted member, and then you become slightly trusted yourself. There may be better alternatives, but your suggestion is not it.

You are saying we, as users, should change the way the site is coded? I am not sure how you expect that to happen. People like TomatoCage ,myself (to an extent), and others spend quite a lot of time investigating possible scams and warning users as appropriate here. 99% of the time it goes ignored. We do this with no compensation or even thanks most of the time, and instead are rewarded by comments like yours suggestions we are evil and responsible for your financial faux pa. Self responsibility seems to be a null concept nowadays.

I'm blunt, but honest. Don't misconstrue my lack of tact for callous arrogance. I do care.
