Okay. So, I've decided finally that I'm gonna go for: x6 Radeon 5850's And this motherboard: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3880#ovBasically, as I'm still really unsure about a lot of this stuff, can any of you guys tell me if I can have 6 Radeon 5850's on this motherboard, and can anyone give me a step by step guide on how to get ALL SIX of them mining at the same time, at their optimum hash rates. Will give whoever can give me the best help a reward of some sort!! Really need help on this guys. I want to buy my hardware fairly soon, but I want to be 100% sure that everything will work, as this is a fairly big investment for me I would highly suggest against putting 6 5850s on one board. Have you thought about cooling at all? split those 6 into 2 boards, drop that gigabyte board, grab an asrock at 1/2 the price. this one will do x8,x8,x4. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157262 . I have multiple 5830s and 5850s running, again i would not put 6 on a single board. Youre asking for problems, especially as a first timer who doesn't quite seem to understand it all.

So, I just installed a Radeon HD 6950 into my main machine. Its core clock is 800MHz, and the memory clock is 1200MHz. So, I believe this card should theoretically do quite well mining (at least 200kh/s). I managed to get my Reaper set up for my laptop, and even though I'm pretty familiar with the program, it hard boots everytime I launch reaper. I can't even get reaper to start and keep my computer on, so now I'm using CGMiner, and instead of hardbooting, I'm getting 100% stales. I have the latest AMD Catalyst drivers. Here is my cgminer.conf { "pools" : [ { "url" : "http://ltc.kattare.com:9332", "user" : "*********", "pass" : "*********" } ] , "intensity" : "1", "vectors" : "1", "worksize" : "64", "kernel" : "phatk", "lookup-gap" : "0", "thread-concurrency" : "64", "shaders" : "0", "gpu-engine" : "0-0", "gpu-fan" : "0-85", "gpu-memclock" : "0", "gpu-memdiff" : "0", "gpu-powertune" : "0", "gpu-vddc" : "0.000", "temp-cutoff" : "95", "temp-overheat" : "85", "temp-target" : "75", "api-port" : "4028", "expiry" : "120", "gpu-dyninterval" : "7", "gpu-platform" : "0", "gpu-threads" : "1", "hotplug" : "5", "log" : "5", "no-pool-disable" : true, "queue" : "1", "scan-time" : "60", "temp-hysteresis" : "3", "shares" : "0", "kernel-path" : "/usr/local/bin" }
What I've noticed is when I turned the workload up to 128 or 256, it hardboots upon initialization. By lowering the workload down to 64, I was able to at least get a hashrate and no hardboot, however the stale rate is incredibly high, usually 80+% if not 100%. I'm trying to play with some variables, but I've no clue which ones do what. Also, is there a way to input commands to the CGMiner console? Any have any idea what I might be doing wrong, or maybe a thread that could point me in the right direction? Mine are stock core and under clocked memory as well as under volted. Intensity 17, worksize 256 -g 1 -E 1 I get consistent 391+ Kh/s per card. Not sure what the issue is for you. The stale rate is high ATM but Burnside's on it. I can't set my worksize to 256, it hardboots on me as soon as I do it. Mind posting your configs? You installed a 6950 in a laptop, or are we talking about two separate machines here? Either way, those new stales are normal, if your miner was working on old blockchain data, and thus every share submitted was stale (noticed how it stopped when a new block was discovered on the network). You just didn't give it enough time, or you're not using scrypt. Thats 100% stales, but only over a few minutes - next time let litecoin wallet update your blockchain prior to mining. Please make sure youre using --scrypt (as it appears to be btc hashes youre solving) Also, most of all your conf settings are way off. Please review https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=131083.0 or other such topics. Your concurrency, lookup gap,etc are all invalid values.

I changed to device 0 device 1 now I have 197kH/s edit: after a reboot getting 400 kH/s I'll play around with the OC sometime to see if that helps.
Turn up threads per gpu to 2 and if you don't need to use the PC while mining go with aggression 19. I'm running 5830s as well. Besides what pwn said, i would suggest turning your concurrency to 8000. i wouldn't go over 18 for intensity though, had my 5830s error out on 19 and 20.

Our Etsy shop focuses on antique and vintage jewelry and home decor. Sometimes i break out the blowtorch and jeweler's tools and upcycle pieces. So if you're in the market for something like that, check us out. 100% positive reviews on both Etsy and Ebay with hundreds of transactions. We accept both BTC and LTC for payment. Unfortunately. there is no way to integrate this (yet) into either Etsy or Ebay's shopping cart, so if you would like to purchase something you see, the easiest way would be to PM me through this site, email [info at thepickingpair dotcom], or shoot me an Etsy convo. thepickingpair.etsy.com

Besides the high stales, i noticed this today. Same block solved same time by two different users, with different confirmations. Haven't seen this before and was curious what could cause it?

Reaper is only showing 7.1%, pool showing 16% now. The stale stats might just be off.
my rewards were also off equivalent to the stales they reported. not good for me Yea, my rewards seem to be askew from the stales too.

Same here, 15.76% rejection rate all of a sudden today. Using reaper, normally have around 5-6% stale.

I have to say, the only person in this dispute who sounds like they know what they're doing, and isn't irrational is TradeFortress. I've dealt with many, many, many web devs (some shit, some great) over the last 15 years. Carlos comes across as someone trying to sound technical, and stick up for a buddy. Also the move moneypaktrader pulled in starting his own arbitration and then choosing split the costs set off all sorts of red flags for me.
Just my $.02

Well, that is certainly nice to know! Sure would have saved me some time if it had been outlined in the manual or simply printed out as "GPU Error Rate"
After significantly lowering my config values, now I seem to actually be processing work!
Had a similar issue myself when getting started with gpu mining on my NVidia GT555M, had to bring down the GPU thread concurrency down from 6144 down to 2048 initially to get it hashing properly and then steadily got up to 4096 where its at now, though the stale share count is pretty high on gpu mining (between 40-50%).. This is apparently linked to the number of shaders and the thread queue depth for each shader - the shader count is woefully low on NVidia GPUs - mine is 192. Wondering if the magic number is 192 shaders multiplied by sharethreads 18 = 3456? Will have a stab at this to see if it helps.. i have a pair of sli'd 560ti's in an old gaming rig that i mine on for one pool. i know sli slows it down a bit, but with each having 384 shaders, i sit around 150mh/s combined.

Ya, that's just errors. If a single nvidia could pull 1gh/s, we'd all be using them! Glad you got it fixed.

I'm leaning toward it being a problem with my Reaper setup. If I run my cpu miner on this machine, it pulls work fine and the worker shows up as active. Running Reaper instead pulls no work and the worker shows as inactive. The only thing I can think of that might be wrong is that I'm running this on an NVIDIA chipset rather than ATI; I thought Reaper is supposed to support both, just that ATI is a noticeably better performer. litecoin.conf host ltc.kattare.com port 9332 user c0ldfusi0nz.gpuworker pass therightpass
protocol litecoin
worksize 256 vectors 1 aggression 8 threads_per_gpu 1 sharethreads 18 lookup_gap 2 gpu_thread_concurrency 6144
reaper.conf: kernel reaper.cl save_binaries yes enable_graceful_shutdown no long_polling yes platform 0 device 0
mine litecoin
Whats your hash rate? nvidia typically is very slow, and the site wont update your worker stats until it receives a share. Also, some of those settings are for amd gpus only.

coldfusionz, burnside's pool was having some issues this morning. It literally just came back up a few minutes ago. Can you check again and let us know?

Wasn't trying to be a dick, was short on time, apologies if i came off that way.
Also, pool is having some serious issues, or the site is at least. no blocks in 6 hours, last 10 blocks sitting at same confirms, no payouts or balance increases.

ok, i tried this Reaper and it gave me 9 khash for my radeon hd 6870. that doesn't seem much any suggestions what to do?
Post confs here (without u/p), you have something setup wrong.
