I edited my post above for clarity after you quoted me.  Read it again.
4882  Other / Meta / Re: Stake your Bitcoin address here on: March 30, 2019, 07:22:11 AM
The address I use to store the funds is a SegWit address, whereas my Ledger only lets me sign a message from a legacy address. Coding Enthusiast made this handy tool (https://github.com/Coding-Enthusiast/AddrConverter) that can convert a legacy address to its corresponding SegWit address.
I don't use Ledge, but you can read it and I think you can sign your message with Ledger for sure.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=990345.0#post_ledger
When you finished, you can post your sign message with Ledger and Legacy address here, then I or others can quote and verify it for you.

Yeah, you can. You can only sign from legacy addresses though, since Ledger doesn't support signing + SegWit.

That's not the issue to which I'm referring.  Include the address you want to use in the body of the message that you sign.  Here's an example of messages signed using two addresses, the fact that they are segwit addresses is beside the point:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=996318.msg49526329#msg49526329

As you can see I included both addresses I want to use in the body of both signed messages.

Code:
-----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----
This is DireWolfM14@Bitcointalk.org, today is 31.JAN.2019 and these are my addresses:

Both are native segwit, so I don't think they can be verified with brainwallet, you'll have to use Electrum.  Thanks in advance.

I don't know why you included address 3GwTPjGUHsRGqBAnqqdjmX8GrQN4ASoJH7 in your post, but not in your signed message.
Let me guess a bit. Maybe he wanted to stake one address to secure account, and use another address for his transactions.
However, both two addresses likely new ones, because they have not had even only one transaction so far.
Code:
3GwTPjGUHsRGqBAnqqdjmX8GrQN4ASoJH7
1K4CMazSr5V3MfcbVpC4gRhFW9JfJBpe4d
I recommend he to stake all two addresses, it is only better, not worse for his account security.

I understand that, but I'm wondering why he didn't include the address he wants to use in the body of the message he signed.

4885  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Has CNN become state run media and/or propaganda for Democrats? on: March 30, 2019, 02:15:42 AM
Is there any way to reconcile the above that does not involve CNN being propaganda and/or what is essentially state run media similar to what is broadcast in North Korea or China?

It is, and always was, but you guys are realizing it now (I'm not blaming you).
Remember the CNNs news justifing the "war on terror" a decade ago, the evil muslims, dictators, the weapons of mass destruction... helping the rebels in Syria, now the same in Venezuela.

CNN supports bankers, debt, war... it doesn't matter if the guy in power is a republican or democrat, as long as it does any (or all) of that.

Stop justifying your far left leanings by blaming capitalism.  You're not fooling anyone.  I dare you to show me one, just one CNN news article (not opinion) where anything remotely resembling "the evil muslims" [sic] was published.

4887  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Packing the Supreme Court is an attack on Democracy on: March 29, 2019, 01:55:34 AM
The Democrats used to be a party of liberal ideology that still lived within the realms of reality.  Not anymore.  Now they are power hungry, yet devoid of practical policies.  Their only hope for obtaining that power is to pull on the heart-strings of the emotionally virtuous among us.  There is no room for logical discourse when they insist that they hold the moral high-ground.

The far leftists that currently have the Democratic party in a choke-hold must never be allowed to gain power.
4888  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Degradation of American media on: March 29, 2019, 01:22:45 AM
I get my news better and faster from other internet users than you could from any media company.
By the time a media company starts working on the story you could have read all of the tweets while it is happening and often live streams from amateurs in the area if you are paying attention at the right time.

This is actually part of the problem, not the solution.  Amateur video, tweets, and social media posts don't show the whole story and often leave people misinformed.  The commercial media outlets are always trying to be the first to report about a story, and may even use social media posts in an attempt to beat their competition to the punch.

The solution to these issues is actually going to be very difficult to implement, because it must come from us, the consumers.  We need to hold media outlets accountable for their misinformation; starting with CNN, the biggest joke among the bunch.  They are truly and unabashedly the media arm of the Democratic party.

Without the Russia Collusion Delusion, and before Pelosi provided them with their next script on "Health Care," recently CNN ran a story trying to credit Obama for the gains in economic growth under Trump. Never mind that the story completely ignores the policies that actually affect the economy, and are totally obvious to those of us who are not blinded by our political leanings.  Another story (that I cannot find now) tries to convince us that the economy is actually gone to shit, despite our growing wages and savings accounts.

Having been completely ridiculed for this pile stinking horse shit, what do they do?  Days later they completely contradict themselves by publishing a story about how a poll suggests we are happy with the current economy under Trump.  Yet, they stop short of actually crediting Trump for these gains.

CNN needs to die!  Now!  Not a slow, but a sudden and final death.  All the Jim Acostas and Don Lemons need to be fired, and never given the opportunity to pollute our airways with their biased BS ever again.  They can always learn to code.

Glad to see you've recovered your account.  It's also good to see that the new forum policy is working and folks are getting their accounts back quickly.

I've removed my red-tag.  I hope you have better luck securing the account in the future.
4890  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: $1,189,809.00 BTC Available For Bulk Sale - Escrow Accepted on: March 28, 2019, 09:10:37 AM
Don't ask me to sign some dumb message.

You're a newbie with no trade history, which means zero credibility.  Claiming a willingness to meet face to face in the US doesn't change that.  Signing a message with an address that has some coin in it will go a long way to establish credibility.  No one here will trust you enough to send you a single penny without being able to prove the coin exists.

Another thing: No body is going to trust some random "third party" escrow account on Escrow.com that could just be another one of your sock puppets.  We may have fallen off of a turnip truck, but it wasn't yesterday.

Sign a message or stop wasting people's time.
4891  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is St4yInTh3D4rk a hacked or sold account? on: March 27, 2019, 03:59:12 PM
When I got the account there is no email in it so I created new email and added it into this profile then later changed my password via email.

Is that even possible?  I don't know how the forum functioned back then, but if I'm not mistaken an email address is mandatory for account creation.  I'm starting to regret attempting to help you save your account.  If this is indeed a hacked account that changes everything.

There are some further things that I find suspicious while you were in Eroiy's Signature campaign. I have no good proof of those accounts being linked but if anyone wants to go through their posting history and try to check with this user then I will send their names in Pm to run a check.

The thought occurred to me that St4yInTh3D4rk's lack of interest in defending the account might be due to having alts to which he could switch his focus.  Pm me what you've found and I'll try to make time to dig deeper as well.
4892  Economy / Goods / Re: Eotech 552 with dual laser module on: March 27, 2019, 07:07:58 AM
but since NV optics are illegal to use in combination with illumination here in California;

Nice unit, good luck with the sale.  But, I think you may be misinterpreting the laws.  Luckily for us most CA legislatures don't know shit about the firearms or the optics they intend to ban, constantly leaving loopholes open.

I am of the understanding that a self-contained night vision scope attached to a firearm is indeed against the law.  Night vision (hand-held or helmet mounted) are not illegal.  Infrared illumination or laser pointers attached to a firearm are not illegal.  The use of a combination of the two is not illegal, except while hunting.  Depredation, such as the taking coyotes, foxes, or raccoons is not considered hunting.  I have friends who are shepherds that use these methods to protect their livestock, and are within their legal rights.

Having said all that, law enforcement are often subject to the same misunderstandings.  Defending yourself in court might be far more expensive and troublesome than the toys are worth.

Again, best of luck with your sale.

4894  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: PBJ is trying to sell a method that makes unlimited gold at home. (Seriously.) on: March 27, 2019, 06:32:46 AM
I don't know if this deserves a red-tag.  Obviously PBJ is confused, but the method is being offered for free, so it doesn't seem like there is an intent to scam.  If PBJ was attempting to sell the method that would be a different story.
4895  Economy / Reputation / Re: Is St4yInTh3D4rk a hacked or sold account? on: March 27, 2019, 05:59:20 AM
It's quite interesting that St4yInTh3D4rk has not commented on the subject, the silence is deafening.

Ironically the old owner of the account appears to have pulled an exit scam, while the new owner has merely participated in sig campaigns since the alleged purchase.  The actions of the old owner are far more deserving of red-tags than anything the new owner has done.  There was a time when buying an account was not frowned upon the way it is today.  That was before my time, so I'm not sure when the transition in philosophy came to pass.  Looking back on the activities of the new owner for the past couple of years, I would almost be willing to give him a pass since he hasn't attempted to anything nefarious with the account.

I know this is probably not a popular stance, but to those of you have tagged the account; would you be willing to revise your feedback to neutral if the new owner comes clean?  The only reason I make this suggestion is because there isn't any evidence the new owner intends to scam anyone.

@St4yInTh3D4rk, I would encourage you address this situation with honesty.  Obviously your silence has not helped you in any way.  Your account has been tagged, so you really don't have anything to lose at this point.

Earning it just fine without your cents Wink

Lol, is that supposed to be a jab at my financial situation?  Because I'm gainfully employed flipping burgers?  Although it's true my crypto assets are not enviable, I'm not insulted because I'm flush with something far more valuable; integrity.

Also, it's fair to point out I'm not the one begging for a $1200 loan from strangers on the internet.  In fact, I just blew a slightly bigger wad on a new suit.
4897  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum win 7 dont start on: March 26, 2019, 02:52:18 PM
NeuroticFish and Lucius very well might be correct, but your issue could be even simpler than that.  If you had a shortcut pinned to your task bar that shortcut is still looking for the old version.  Using the start menu navigate to the newly installed icon set and see if that works.  If not, then proceed as NeuroticFish and Lucius have instructed.
4898  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Do you think wallets will require KYC in the future? on: March 26, 2019, 05:32:41 AM
in my opinion, no they won't because it will make them obsolete.

these days people (specially newcomers) may prefer using these centralized "accounts" called wallets or use hardware wallets because of their convenience but the more you learn about bitcoin and how it works the more you realize that you never needed any of them to store your bitcoin. so if they increase the number of their disadvantages, people will simply stop using them altogether and that makes them obsolete.

I agree, with this.  If wallets start using KYC then they will stop attracting users.  That's already happening with many web wallet services and I won't be using them from now on.  I can't see my favorite desktop wallet (Electrum) using KYC, and if the dev team goes in that direction for some unforeseen reason then I will cease using it.  Hardware wallets, again are not likely to got that direction either, in my opinion.

Worst case scenario, it's back to using only paper for me, and I don't think I'm alone in that philosophy.

Everyone is doing a stellar job so far as we are now entering the 10th week of the campaign, time flies huh?
Has it been already for nine weeks? Wow, I didn't notice that until you have said it. Keep up the great work Hhampuz. Thanks!

Haha right? Feels like we started this one just a couple of weeks ago  Cheesy

Time does fly when you're having fun, lol.  This is my first ever sig campaign; it's obvious I couldn't have picked a better one, and it couldn't be managed any better.  Thank you for having me, Hhampuz.  You're doing a great job.
