Looking at https://etherscan.io/chart/hashrateYou can clearly see that almost everybody is powering up their rigs again. Pretty much as long as your power is $0.30/kwh or less, you are making a profit and this is based on the old RX series, some of the newer GPUs are even more efficient. Hopefully this will last at least till Nov/Dec and not a couple weeks like last time when ETH boomed.

After alot of tinkering finally figured out how to undervolt. Basically I kept trying to change the voltage on DRM 7 but I need to change it on both DRM 5 and DRM 6, most likely because the core clock is lower than default. Basically just typed out a script and it just runs as a batch on start-up.
I am pretty sure this is why it wasn't working in the bios updates either because I think I need to lower the core clocks from DRM1-6 so its lower than DRM 7 and DRM 7 needs to be the default clockrate of 1125mhz or so.
Hopefully I can at least get $1/day/gpu until Nov-Dec when the 4GB finally are put to rest.

all void warranty if used for mining. but if you dont tell them it was used for mining, how will they know ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) With old GPUs its impossible to tell because you can always flash back to stock bios. However maybe newer GPUs got some type of bios lock or bios counter similar to what some Android phones had to prevent rooting. No idea if its implemented yet however.

Anyone know how its possible to set voltage using -cvddc using PhoenixMiner under Ubuntu ?

Is there a guide anywhere to get 4GB cards to mine with Ubuntu 16.04? Basically I am having issues to get Ubuntu to load if "onboard" video is selected. It refuses to go past the login screen. If I have "PCIe" as primary video on motherboard, it loads but it runs of the VRAM on that GPU. Seems the only drivers I can use are 17.40 for Ubuntu 16.04.
I'm trying to get 4GB card working on Ubuntu 20.04.1, Installed pro drivers 20.30 and got it to mine EXP but the ETH is cant generate DAG, help would be nice ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) I have booted to terminal but still not enough memory. I got it to work with Ubuntu 16.04, using 17.40 AMD drivers. It mines ETH except can't figure out how to undervolt. This is with Phoenix miner, Claymore doesn't seem to want to work. Any way to get Claymore to work in Ubuntu with 4GB?

Finally got the 4GB GPUs to work on Ubuntu 16.04. The trick was to do "./amdgpu-pro-install --px" when in onboard mode and it installed the drivers correctly.
Now the issue I am getting is "How the hell do you undervolt these AMD Polaris GPUs in Ubuntu"?
Basically with Windows all I used was WattTool to offset the voltage. In Ubuntu there is no such tool. There is "OhGodAtool" but it can only set clocks and doesn't set the voltage. So it seems that only way is to undervolt in bios correct? Wrong. Nothing seems to work.
I tried SRB and PBE. I used constant values like 900mV, I used those dynamic values like 65288, and after a dozen or so reboots, the voltage still doesn't change. Tried those Polaris bios modding guides and none of them seem to actually work.
Any idea if just setting -cvddc in Phoenix miner will work? I doubt it since the -cclock and -mclock failed to even work.

Anyone here know how to mine with Ubuntu 16.04 with AMD 4GB GPUs?
Basically Windows 7 no longer works...
Tried Ubuntu 16.04 and it works but the main GPU0 needs to be Primary display on the motherboard because if I make it "onboard" then Ubuntu fails load, basically endless login screen, with "PCIe" as primary display its load no problem.
I would used SMOS but I need to use a Wifi adapter. Any way to get wifi to work on SMOS?

Anyone here mining with 4GB using Ubuntu 16.04?
For some reason I can't get Ubuntu to load when I switch to onboard video, it loads when on PCIe primary adapter. However can't get that GPU to mine that way.
I am getting the DAG pre-allocation error, however it still starts mining, how is that possible?

Wow. Seems with ETH price hitting $400 and ETH miners fees being essentially triple due to the huge ETH fees, it seems many are dusting off their GPU rigs and powering them on again.
I tried to do the same and basically ran into the 4GB DAG issue on my RX 470 GPUs from 2016.
Anyone know if they will work on Ubuntu? Rather not use SMOS since I need to use Wifi.

For anyone with a 4GB GPU with Windows 7, don't bother mining ETH. Won't work.
Tried with blockchain drivers.... didn't work. Tried with various drivers from 18.0x to 20.0x ....didn't work. Tried with onboard video.... didn't work.
Keeps getting the DAG out of VRAM error.

I don't see this particularly reflected in Localbitcoins volumes as one would expect, so I'm going to remain skeptical about this:
This is such a common Bitcoiner narrative (that currencies are failing and causing people to buy BTC) that I've come to expect extreme exaggerations on this front.
Yes generally these are click bait articles. Usually there is some large spread but the volume is so small that it doesn't make much difference. This is nothing like that Kimchi premium that we had back in the 2017 days.

Hey there, I dont like to barge in on other campaign threads but I will give you some free advice. I went through your post history 1st page and I can see you are only attempting to join any campaign that is launched or has a spot open. This has a negative impact on you getting selected for the campaign. After all the company who is hiring you to advertise the project wants quality posters to take up the job. Hhampuz is only a middleman here. My suggestion would be to move out from any paid signature for a few weeks and post like a normal human would do in any thread that raises your curiosity. That way your posts will become more organic and you might even gain some merits, the lack of which is also a subjective marker of the user's posting habits though not complete.
BTW, are you the original owner of this account? Or did you get it from someone? Yes generally this is true. Basically this is why the merit system was created. And its actually easier to get merits without a signature because many of the old bitcoin posters give those more credit, since the person is contributing but not getting anything else in return. Hence they usually give more merits or are more eager to give merits. Hence if you got little merits its one reason why many campaigns might not accept you, since they are looking for quality posters.

I've had this problem for years. It basically hashed at like 30MH/s about 95% of the time and then for some reason hashed at 18MH/s or so for 5% of the time. This was with RX 470 and been happening probably since 2017 or so.
Tried different bios, OS, voltages, fan speeds, etc and basically finally gave up trying to investigate why it happens. If someone has it figured out let me put an end to the mystery.
Was it Micron memory? I'm trying lower overclock settings. I think 80% or so of my cards were Hynix memory. Some were Elpida and some Samsung. However I actually never checked if the memory type made a difference. Maybe it was the memory type, it was buggy somewhat. No clue. Since ETH is rallying and if it keeps on rallying past $300 I might boot up some of those rigs and mine again, however right now its not worth the hassle setting everything up when you are paying $0.10 kwh power.

I guess this thread is proof that most people NEVER verify their bets. Since Primedice is a huge site, its pretty crazy how this wasn't spotted by anybody else sooner. Another reason I can think of is that due to Primedice's reputation most people just trust them and don't bother verfying bets. I personally wouldn't. I only verify bets on a new or medium cap type of gambling sites.
I think what happened was the typo was made when they upgraded to the new PD version and somebody changed the text then. Because from what I recall it was SHA256 prior. EIther way he should get more than $5 in compensation even $50 would of been better.
