Nice job!  Great hat bones, congrats.

I miss wearing my @xhomerx10 original.  Could I trouble you to make one for me that I can wear during the campaign?

4963  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: New user here, not sure if I should trust Electrum...reason being: on: March 13, 2019, 09:44:56 PM
What happens if a SegWit address sends BTC to a legacy wallet address (and vice versa)?

Electrum doesn't care one way or the other.  If you have a legacy Electrum wallet, and a segwit Electrum wallet you can send from one to the other, either direction, without any issues.

As others have stated; many exchanges and online wallets are not compatible with segwit addresses.  Some of these online wallets will accept payment from segwit addresses without issue, but will not be able to send to a segwit address.  The only exchange I use regularly is Coinbase, and they only recently implemented segwit support.

And...Are people able to create NEW legacy wallet addresses? Or are they only able to restore legacy wallets that were created before the SegWit update?

You can still create a new legacy wallet with Electrum.
4964  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Cheated on$40. Swindler on: March 13, 2019, 09:30:04 PM
It sounds like you're trying to blame others when the blame is on you exclusively. A RANDOM telegram account contacted you and told you they were someone and without asking for any proof you just go ahead and sent them money.  How about asking him to send you a PM from the account they claimed to be? How about reading anything on this forum before you go sending strangers money? If you would have taken the time to read you would have seem the numerous messages that direct you to use escrow to prevent this exact situation. $40 is a really cheap price to pay to learn though. Do more research before giving your money away. Good luck on your future trades.

Don't be too harsh on the newbies.  Yes, it's true that our security is our own responsibility, and we need to be accountable for our actions.  However, that doesn't absolve the scammer from taking advantage of people's naivete.  As a community we need to hold scammers accountable, and help each other avoid scams.  We can't allow scammers to continue taking advantage of those who are not used to being so skeptical.

As a society we've become coddled over the last several decades.  We expect others to take care of us, even to the point of entrusting our physical and financial security to others.  Cryptocurrency is unforgiving to those who yearn for that type of coddling.  We need to re-learn how to take care of ourselves.

I would like to exchange 40$ PayPal to btc,I sent the person from this forum for 40$ PayPal and have not received my bitcoins.

he said this is his page on this forum,he said that he was legendary trade here!

What to do?

i don't know micgoossens IRL, but after reading his posts here for nearly a year, I can't see him risking his reputation over $40.  If he was that desperate for some coin, why is he offering to give away 12 times that amount?

I'm going to risk an assumption here; The OP was swindled by someone masquerading as micgoossens.

ETA:
The phone number you posted is Ecuadorian.  Micgoossens is from Europe, if I'm not mistaken.
4966  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: $100 PayPal to btc on: March 13, 2019, 07:10:47 PM
Yes localbitcoins,i have ac.but there very expensive to buy btc for PayPal

That's because of the risk associated with PayPal's terms of service; seller protection does not cover cryptocurrency.  PayPal is a notorious way for scammers to get free bitcoin.  They buy the bitcoin, dispute the charges, and are refunded the money which is deducted from the seller's account.  Since Bitcoin is irreversible the seller is left without recourse, and PayPal has zero incentive to assist.

You being a newbie with no trade history you are unlikely to find someone willing to take the risk.
4967  Economy / Lending / Re: Does the forum need another lender? on: March 13, 2019, 03:49:26 AM
Most of the high quality, no collateral borrowers already borrow from some established lender on the regular, so I doubt that you'll able to convince them to switch over to you easily. Others who request loans on this board are mostly scammers/high risk propositions.

That's what I've noticed.

I mean, it doesn't hurt to launch, and maintenance work is fairly low. It's just that you have to be realistic with your expectations and such.

My thoughts exactly.  I don't expect to buy a lambo, but slowly growing the bitcoin account can't hurt.  I have time to come up with a plan, and give it some more thought.

High quality, collateralised loan requests are few and far between from what I've seen. A clearly established guideline for your loans should be constructed before opening your business.

Collateral loans are safe, but with prices of alt coins low maybe confidence in them is low also.  People are more likely to sell their alts than hodl them if they find themselves in need.

you could definitely compete if you wanted to for the smaller loans. You can compete against condoras with slightly lower rates as well. For larger loans, you might struggle to compete with zarzab and I (though my rates are certainly beatable)

You're rates are pretty good, and your budget is more than I have to risk.  You're assessment is fairly accurate, I think I would try to compete for the smaller to the-low-end-of-medium loans.

shasan is pretty borrower unfriendly from what I see

Maybe I could use some lessons from shasan.  Sometimes I think I may be too lenient.  Case in point.
4968  Economy / Reputation / Re: Trust abuser and fraudster IdiotCoder (may be a sold account) on: March 13, 2019, 03:05:03 AM
IdiotCoder's feedback is showing up as trusted for me, so it might be similar for him--don't know if OP has a custom trust list or not.

For me too, although he has since removed his review.  IdiotCoder is DT2 by way of gmaxwell

http://loyce.club/trust/2019-03-09_Sat_06.16h/11425.html

I looked at OP's currency exchange thread, and I'm honestly not sure why he got negs from Vod and IdiotCoder.  He wasn't exactly trying to buy bitcoin with PayPal as a noob, which IMO might be worthy of a negative.  He was trying to buy bitcoin while using an on-forum escrow, so I just can't see where the scam attempt is.  Anyone see anything that I'm missing?

Those payment types are not completely safe.  It would take a lot of work to reverse some of those payments, but scammers have put in a lot of work for far less than $25k.

It seems that "Rambotnic" is one of your alts because I got neg trusted twice in a row.

Yes I noticed that, referencing a thread in which you offer services, where he has not posted.  Very suspicious timing.
4969  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: New user here, not sure if I should trust Electrum...reason being: on: March 13, 2019, 01:51:25 AM
Like TryNinja said, you probably just have a bech32 segwit address.  There are a couple block explorers that support bech32 addresses: btc.com, blockchair.com, and as you've discovered, blockstream.

If you're concerned about the authenticity of your Electrum download, remember; only download from electrum.org.  And, learn to verify the download.
4970  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Trying to restore Electrum balance on: March 13, 2019, 01:17:13 AM
Electrum will generate P2SH addresses that start with 3 if you create a multi-sig legacy wallet.
This is true... but OP claimed he had a "segwit" wallet with 3-type addresses that he was attempting to restore... so, I guess the options are:

1. Original wallet was actually a multisig wallet, NOT segwit
2. Original wallet was a 2FA legacy wallet, NOT segwit
3. Wallet was P2SH-Nested SegWit generated from BIP39 (or Electrum SegWit) seed
4. Wallet was P2SH-Nested SegWit generated from Hardware Wallet

If the OP is 100% sure they had a SegWit wallet, then the only real option would be #3... if OP is just thinking "3-type address = SegWit, I had 3-type address, so I must have had SegWit"... then several of those options become a lot more viable! Wink

Were there any older versions of Electrum that allowed you to specify the derivation path when creating a new seed? (not restoring). If so, would that have allowed a user to specify/set m/49'/0'/0' and generate P2SH-segwit addresses? Huh I honestly don't recall if that was ever a feature... I don't remember seeing it.

I see, thanks for the explanation.

So, if the OP's wallet is "3. Wallet was P2SH-Nested SegWit generated from BIP39 (or Electrum SegWit) seed," can the wallet be restored if the OP sets the seed option to Bip39?

4971  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Trying to restore Electrum balance on: March 13, 2019, 12:51:59 AM
Electrum never generated "3-type" (aka P2SH Nested SegWit) addresses by default... T

Electrum will generate P2SH addresses that start with 3 if you create a multi-sig legacy wallet.

Of course it is a white paper
Is not that what they asked so much?

I must admit, you are one of the most entertaining scammers I've encountered in a long time.  But, I'd like to make a suggestion about your White Paper; It's too white.  I would prefer if it had a tinge of pink, maybe like marlboroza's stolen panties.
4973  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I'm sitting here listening to the debate before the Brexit vote. on: March 12, 2019, 07:35:47 PM
We need to get rid of most of them as soon as possible.

That can be said about almost all politicians.  I think it was Jimmie Cliff who said "Poli" refers to many, and "Tics" are parasites.
4974  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: What is this around the ethernet port? on: March 12, 2019, 06:06:43 PM
Yeah, the entire facility there is less than 10km inland. Humidity is always relatively high too. I guess the miners are basically just sitting there, basically condemned to hash until all of the hashboards give out from the poor environment.

Do you think there's anything that could be done to improve the humid, salty climate? The miners are essentially taking in air directly from the outdoors. I've heard mentions of metal pre-filters as well as paper filters on the intake side of things.

I'm guessing it might be too little too late now though. At least the hashboards last a good while compared to the fans and stuff.

I live near the coast, and I get stuff like that on my electronics that are out in the shed and garage.  The only way to address it is to completely seal off the room from the outside environment, and Heat/Filter/Dry/Condition the air coming into the facility.  Or, just live with it.  I've had computers out in the garage for over a decade that start to look like that, but they keep working.
4975  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: paulownia very likely ponzi scheme on: March 12, 2019, 04:02:51 PM
Now it's free to participate, so have fun telling me where the scam is!

Wow, free to participate?  Now that sounds like a winning combination.  What ROI will I get if I invest $0.00?

One big giant...start with "D" but it is not drone and it doesn't end with "ICK".

Makes sense.

I think Boblawblaw has one on his hat.  It's neon green and headed for the moon.  Wink

Well then, who the hell are the panties for?
4979  Other / Meta / Re: Ban appeal on: March 11, 2019, 07:24:38 PM
If you would be unban for plagiarism then you are the very first user who'd got out.

That's not entirely true.  Here's one ban that was successfully appealed, and recently theymos only gave another member a temporary ban for plagiarism.  Mostly it has to do with the value of the user's contribution to the forum, and if they're deemed "net positive" to the community.  Unlikely in this situation, but not completely unheard of.
4980  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Did you know Venezuela used to run an aid programme for poor Americans? on: March 11, 2019, 06:04:39 PM
The trouble with propaganda is it's intended to be believable, no matter how outlandish the claims.

The more "believable" something like that happens to be, the more suspicious I get.  Something in the water maybe?   Undecided
