501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Solo mining on OSX through Parallels on: October 22, 2013, 08:47:56 PM
What Hardware/software are you mining with to start?  It's been long enough you should see something by now I would guess, but without knowing your hash rate and program mining it's difficult to answer your question.
502  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Multiple ASICMiner Erupters Windows XP on: October 22, 2013, 12:57:39 PM
the problem is   all the  be's  have a serial number of 001  ,   that link i posted above,  you can download a program  and reprogram the serial number on each BE.    then you will not have hardware conflicts.   To me thats a pretty definite fix.   Once they each have a different serial number ,  windows xp  no longer throws the hardware errors.

Edit:   I will put step by step instructions on a website  and post it for help

Great thanks for the info I didn't read it all the first time, but a lot of people have struggled with this.  Good to see a resolution.

504  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Multiple ASICMiner Erupters Windows XP on: October 21, 2013, 01:12:46 PM
WinXP has issues with managing multiple duplicate devices.  Lots of people have issues and I have not seen a definite fix for it.  I have been able to get 8 or 9 working at the same time unplugging, plugging reinstalling etc. but when I went to 11 I was never able to get them ALL up at the same time so switched to win7 and never had an issue with them all running at once since.

Thermal paste is the semi-liquid substance between your heat sink and chip on your graphics card.  It increases the heat dissipation by eliminating the "air" in between the 2 surfaces and helps cool the chip by transferring the heat to the heat sink better.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermal_grease

https://www.google.com/search?q=thermal+paste&rlz=1C1CKMB_enUS543US543&oq=thermal+paste&aqs=chrome..69i57.1913j0j1&sourceid=chrome&espv=210&es_sm=122&ie=UTF-8#es_sm=122&espv=210&q=thermal+paste&tbm=shop

If you are not extremely familiar pulling apart/building hardware be careful and read up on anti static and proper handling etc.  Not a difficult task at all, but there is a slight possibility you could inadvertently damage the card.

That's somewhat correct.  It's not broken it is one of the features that are turned off currently due to the hack.  If you search you will find threads about it, but no announcement if/when disabled features will be turned back on.

509  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Switching off my GPUs, tears in my eyes on: October 16, 2013, 01:41:07 AM
Hello,

Thanks for all those who supported me, and those who contacted me here or PMed me about the sales of the GPUs.

I would like to experiment with providing an on-demand, "cloud" style scrypt mining service, a bit like CEX.io with BitFury for SHA-256.

For this, I would like a first beta tester. The tester will have access to about 1.2 MHS scrypt mining, for a couple of hours during the tests, based on 2x7970 (690+510 KHS). The tester may keep the mining rewards, there will be no other reward.

The alpha version of the interface allows dynamic pool switching, i.e. you can mine any coin and use the interface to change the pool instantly.

At this stage, the whole system is a proof of concept and not yet secure enough for public deployment. In other words, I am *not* asking and granting permission for pen testing at this stage -- it's not what I'm looking for yet.

Thanks for your interest.

Matt

Matt,
I'd be willing to take some time and help you with this testing and do a write up for you on the testing.  Alts are currently getting about .02 BTC per 24 hours per MHash before electricity costs around $25 a month for 2 7970s at .1 per kWh so still profitable and some room in there to make a slight profit on your end for someone willing to pay to not have the headache of maintaining hardware, cooling, etc.  PM me details if you are still looking for someone to help!
510  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] Video Card - Gaming, Rendering, and Mining (ATI/NVidia) on: October 16, 2013, 12:37:28 AM

I have a used 6870 Powercolor card. Has an arctic accelero cooler installed on it so its pretty much silent. Hashes at about 300 mh/s with a slight overclock.

edit: Looking for .4 btc. Sorry to ask for all of it but the cooler alone goes for ~$40

No worries understand, price is fair post or PM me your payment address.
511  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTB] Video Card - Gaming, Rendering, and Mining (ATI/NVidia) on: October 15, 2013, 06:32:21 PM
I've got an offer out right now for a 7770 at .3 shipped, but already had one other offer fall through so I figured I'd make a post to have a plan in place if this offer does not pan out.

I am looking for a video card Nvidia 550 series or newer or ATI 5870,59xx, or 6xxx/7xxx series card (prefer newer gen cards even if they aren't as high hash rate).  Although it may be mining in the off hours this card will be doing the following:

In this order
1. Rendering and exporting/converting in 3DS Max
2. Gaming
3. Mining on occasion

I have .4 BTC to spend shipped to continental US/Ohio, and with the BTC price climbing today I believe this is reasonable.

Let me know what you have as I would like it to ship this week.  The better:cheaper the card is obviously what I'm looking for!

Will pay first for a respected member, for someone with negative or no trust I ask that they ship first if possible, not opposed to escrow, but obviously .4 budget doesn't go up for fees!

Thanks,
nachius

Thanks didn't realize the 5870s went for that much more than the 5850s out there as you can pickup 7850s for that price.

.3 Shipped on the 7770?

zvs,
I sent payment this morning for a different card through a thread I opened thanks again for taking the time and looking up prices, but I've got one for now.  If for some reason I don't receive it or need another I'll reach back out!

1x MSI 7770
1x 5870 sapphire (*ed: non-reference) w/ shroud and *fan missing a blade

Offer .4 BTC shipped to Ohio for both,  as it looked like completed auctions were around $60 to 65 - 35% = approximately $40 and a throw in .1 for the 5870 as heavily used and needing a fan was difficult in a quick ebay search to match up! Smiley
514  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ASICMiners on Win XP on: October 14, 2013, 05:38:35 PM
Yes it's a known issue in XP it doesn't manage duplicate devices well.  Switching to win7 corrected my issues as well because no amount of messing with XP corrected the issue.

Are the 5830/5870s working cards just faulty fans or unknown and being sold as is?
516  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: ATI Cards, Processors, and RAS PIS for sale on: October 12, 2013, 03:34:16 AM
PM me with some numbers I would be interested in either a 7770 or 6770 for gaming/rendering on the cheap as I need to put one in a new rig I built.  Since you want to avoid escrow would you be willing to ship the item first to someone that has good trust/feedback here?

Where will you be shipping from?

Group buy thread typically has the best price on usb miners without searching the for sale items individually.

Are the Anker 4 port hubs powered?  you specifically mentioned the Dynex was and a quick search showed it at enough power for 7 erupters if I looked at the right model.

What are the model numbers on the hubs you're using?

Windows, Mac, rPI or Linux?

Can do .2 once you confirm a payment address.  Up to you if you can go ahead and ship as I mentioned I have done a few deals on here and can provide you personal contact info in a PM if there are questions, but I would prefer it ship now as I have my personal desktop down and it will actually be rendering and video editing as soon as I receive it.  I mine although slowly about .02 BTC per day barring any hardware or power issues so would plan to pay another .18 BTC within a week (have some in other pools that haven't cashed, but can change the minimum if needed).  If I didn't hit the week mark at .38 BTC I would pay an additional .02 for .4 BTC total for the 7770 shipped to Ohio as soon as I have the BTC available.

If that works for you from a payment standpoint let me know a payment address and I will send it along.  Also let me know if that plan is agreeable for you to go ahead and ship once you receive the first .2
