LOL why as alternative you give LTC while ETH is much better 16s block quite cheap transactions, will have LN.
ETH have better volume over time. ETH have real transaction like 70k-100k.
I am almost full in BTC but if i should look alternative ETH is much better.
ETH as coin will be free from greedy Jihan and his ASICs monopoly.

Today much more people chose ETH than LTC as alternative and man ETH is much more usefull than LTC.

To be honest if I would invest then ETH is 10x better bet on future projects.
LTC have nice boost of segwit but NO ONE use LTC and in jam people use ETH more than LTC.

What if 3rd party will be corrupted and want move with changes that you don't want - like leave 21m coin hard limit to endless reward ? When you lose ability to run onw node then BTC won't be p2p currency and won't have many resistance that it have now.

To be honest you are right and 3/4 BTC are already mined so even mining is somehow centralized arround china then in terms of distribution is not. Altcoin were designed to make rich their creators mostly.
They often abandon project and move to new one BETTer once ICO/Premine money are over.
