Attendees are paying over $1000 to be here

Sounds like you guys need a couple more high-value sales through bit-pay to cover these expenses. hint hint. Just send 2BTC to loveBitcoins for your efforts.

How does this devalue Bitcoins?

Bicycles get stolen at a massive rate, probably much higher percentage wise than Bitcoins.  Yet this does not devalue bicycles.

It affects Bitcoin more than the USD because the amount of BTC stolen would equal a gigantic sum of USD when you compare the money supplies. Currently 18k BTC is 0.2% (ONE FIVE HUNDREDTH OF THE BITCOIN ECONOMY!) of the total Bitcoins, which would equal 2 trillion USD if you take the M2 money supply (someone correct me if my math is wrong) Oh, and don’t forget, the US Dollar is actually an established currency and does not try to recruit new users. Your analogy is faulty.

Systematically allocating wealth from wealth creators to wealth destroyers as is being done in the Bitcoin world is unsustainable if Bitcoin is to have any value, since it represents a negative sum game in which wealth is continuosly destroyed.

No wealth is being destroyed here.. it's just being transferred without authorization of the owner. Also, apparently plane fulls of 6 billion DOLLARS go missing everytime we invade a country (without authorization) and it doesn't devalue the dollar. Oh wait, yes it does.

Stephen, you're lucky this is too far away from me and I don't have a cheerleading outfit and pompoms because I'd be in the front row introducing you and cheering you on throughout.  Maybe get a wave going for you.  Grin

I have the perfect neighborhood pizza place to give this a shot at... Combine this with a cashmob and I think we might have a success!

Count me in!

Price looks good. I'm in for one for now. I'll see how the TOS works out with my TOR exit and will probably get 5-6 more next month if it all works out.

When talking to adult entertainers about Bitcoin, and they ask "how can I spend these things?",  please remember to mention they can pay their rent with Bitcoin (if they live in Vegas).

I mean, that's awesome, but they'd probably have to move right?

Not necessarily. I've hear that a lot of entertainers fly into Vegas like cattle on a train every Friday. Could be a way to pay for a more established or permanent place of stay. I unno... just sayin..
514  Economy / Economics / Re: How to make bitcoin be worth more? on: May 10, 2012, 02:23:50 PM
OMFG...

Dude, if Bitcoin did not have divisibility, i.e. there were only 21 million coins, and nothing less, they hardly would have the value they have now. People would understand that that is not enough units of currency to support a global economy.

Divisibility ADDS value. Therefore, it has value.

You could give us a try I'm sure you will like. Good pricing and nice quality.

Would you mind making TOS addition with something like:

Is there a way to extend the deterministic sequence of wallets to have more keys (without having to backup the wallet)?
518  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin FBI Report April 2012 on: May 10, 2012, 02:01:56 PM
Well maybe they did confirm it (i.e. call the FBI office).  Then again journalistic standards aren't that high anymore.   Could be either one.

The trained response to inquiries on a classified or confidential document is "we can neither confirm, nor deny".

I too spend about $100/mo at Linode. My main reason is their network access policy that specifically allows me to run TOR exit nodes.

If someone can suggest a VPS who's TOS will allow me to maintain my exits, I will be MORE than happy to take my $100/mo from Linode and give it to someone else.
