501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Use some BTC for good- Support new social enterprise project on: May 18, 2015, 06:47:13 AM
Hmm, I like the idea but I am a bit skeptical...
Is there some kind of criteria for offenders in order to "reform" them?
Or any offender can just join in?

That is an excellent question.

The OP wants to raise money to help "reform" offenders a.k.a. criminals with the use of crypto.

Though it might sound like a good idea to some, I find it horrible and bad publicity for Bitcoin.
Bitcoin has enough connections with crime as it is.

You want to help the world and use crypto to do it then feed the hungry.
Give shelter to the homeless.

Not money to criminals.

What the fuck is wrong with you?

I am not saying they don't deserve a second chance, and that IS NOT what you are offering them.
If they want a second chance they have to work for it, and that literally means work for it.
And I am not saying that all offenders are the same.
But I think you get my point.

Also, why convert crypto to GBP?
Why not keep it in crypto so that all transactions are transparent?

Half of of this text is simply outrageous. Bitcoin is a nondiscriminatory cryptocurrency, you simply can't select who deserves to use it and who doesn't. In any case, bitcoin can't be compared to fiat because it brings transparency and stability into the table. Yes, it's used by criminals, but isn't everything else? Unless you're suggesting fiat has a better track-record than Bitcoin, then I really don't understand your point.
502  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Firm Xapo Relocates to Switzerland on: May 18, 2015, 06:22:54 AM
Everyone that starts making serious money eventually moves to Switzerland to not get obliterated by mega taxes. I guess Xapo is being a success then.

Regarding 'https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1064223.0' it would also increase their marketshare, since I'm almost certainly sure they wouldn't be required to follow any sanctions set by the U.S. govt.
503  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase accounts are closed due to US Govt sanctions on: May 18, 2015, 06:07:51 AM
I fail to see the connection in your thread? You link to a article explaining that Bitcoin was never hacked, but your title is, " Coinbase accounts are closed due to US Govt sanctions "

What are you trying to say here?

Was your account locked or closed by Coinbase, because of US Govt sanctions?

I arrived at the same misleading assumption. At first, I though US based coinbase accounts were being disabled "due to US Govt sanctions," though the content suggests otherwise. Instead, accounts created on Coinbase were being systematically disabled based on their geographical location.

507  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New York Times identifies Nick Szabo as Satoshi Nakamoto on: May 15, 2015, 08:29:30 PM
it could be one of satoshi's friends who has done all those things, just to misdirect traces

i think it is not him, and i'm still with the theory that satoshi nakamoto is a mere pseudo name that identify a group of coders, like skydrow or r.g.mechanics ecc...
I agree with you this man can not be Satoshi. There are two possibilities one what you said and the other one is someone wants to be famous and that's why let the NYT to claim about his identity.Satoshi will never come in front nor will be recognized by anyone.

Why not let him be Satoshi? Isn't the IRS looking for someone to lynch for the amount of coins stored in his wallets?
508  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Regulator assholes!!! on: May 15, 2015, 11:34:49 AM
That wiki leaks guy refuses to go to Switzerland because the US government might have him extradited to the USA from there. If the US wants to prosecute Xapo it could extradite the owners from Switzerland and probably shut down the operation through some legal means. Xapo should choose a country where there is no chance of extradition to the USA.

What wiki leaks guy?
I haven't heard of this before.
What happened exactly?
Got a link to that?

WikiLeaks achieved particular prominence in 2010 when it published U.S. military and diplomatic documents leaked by Chelsea Manning. Assange has been under investigation in the United States since that time. In the same year, the Swedish Director of Public Prosecution opened an investigation into sexual offences that Assange is alleged to have committed.[1] In 2012, facing extradition to Sweden, he sought refuge at the Embassy of Ecuador in London and was granted political asylum by Ecuador.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julian_Assange

Assange says if he gets extraditied from the UK to Sweden, then the US might extradite him from Sweden to the US.

I got Switzerland and Sweden muddled up earlier, but I guess if you can get extradited from Sweden to the US, then you can also get extradited from Switzerland to the US.

Hmm, I wouldn't be very sure about that.

Aren't Swiss bank accounts a tax evaders and basically every criminals haven?

It was. Things have changed http://www.out-law.com/en/topics/tax/tax-litigation--disputes-/the-ukswiss-agreement-over-taxation-of-undeclared-swiss-bank-accounts/

Hmm, I didn't know that.
The link you have posted says UK/Switzerland agreement though.
Doesn't mention U.S.
Not that it really matters because U.S & U.K work together right?

Well, as HI-TEC99 and NUFCrichard said, the U.S. And EU are also taking similar approaches regarding Swiss banking and taxations

This however, could prove to be a good thing for Bitcoin.
If all these millionaires cannot hide their money in Swiss bank accounts, they will resolve to Bitcoin and crypto in general.
Innit?

You're right, that could be the case. But it could possibly lead to tougher regulations and higher taxes for bitcoin businesses [..]

Strategically I don't think it would be very beneficial if Bitcoin is portrayed as a tax avoidance tool, perhaps someone else could bring further insight to this?

And to prove that this is a good thing for Bitcoin, let me quote this:

Quote
"This is not to facilitate crime, this is to protect privacy. There are some customers that will bring more balances if we do this and there are some customers who have said we will work with you if you do this."

Now, is that not a good thing?  Wink

As HI-TEC99 stated, it wouldn't be out of their jurisdiction. Germany would be a safer bet if they really cared for privacy
512  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banks and Bitcoin on: May 15, 2015, 10:07:26 AM
I thought that Bitcoin was everything the banks weren't....
Be you own bank and stuff..
What happened to all that?
Why do we need banks?
To steal from our hard earned money coins?

we still need them because we need fiat, bitcoin is not that spread in every shops, and we can't buy everything we want with it yet

on the contrary bank don't need bitcoin at all

Not true.
You can have fiat or any legal tender without the banks "saving" your money for "interest", which they get from lending your money to someone else.
You have Bitcoin now as a currency.
Do you need banks to store it for you?

Nope. That means banks are useless unless you need a loan, of which you will pay back at least a minimum of 5 times the original amount.

Well I'm looking to work with fiat. Yes I can get fiat in using WeMoney or OkPay. I could probably use the same account to pay consumers. But if I don't need a bank, how will I be able to use these services?
513  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC in your country on: May 15, 2015, 10:03:59 AM
Hi!  Smiley
How BTC bitcoin developed in your country? Are there many people in your real life that you know that use BTC ?

btc is still allowed and unregulated here in UK. But no bank will service you, so you've either got to move to another country like Denmark or find an innovative way to get around this
514  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Illogic Paradox on: May 15, 2015, 09:56:38 AM
I don't understand  Huh

If you make a transactions, and someone sees how much you've sent, how will they target your PC?

i meant steal you PC physical its not necessairy will be track you from Internet, its possible a freind or neighbour .....

Keeping in mind you can't link a bitcoin address to a PC, you should be using Firewalling tools such as ZoneAlarm, and Antivirus programs such as AVG.

If all of these are set, then a program would require administrative privilege to loop through directories, make inbound and outbound HTTP requests [..]

You should protective your wallet with a password, the same goes for your PC.
Your password should consist of [A-Z][a-z][0-9]

516  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 2.0 but how? on: May 15, 2015, 09:46:23 AM
Hi all,

I have a question regarding the Bitcoin 2.0 idea like smart contracts, digital rights etc.

How is this going to work? If I understood it right, it is possible over the code "OP-Return" to implement additional data. My question now: If someone is going to exchange or store smart contracts does he has to own Bitcoins or to pay with Bitcoins?

I hope you understand my question otherwise just ask and I try to be more precise.

Thank you very much for an answer Smiley
Omni system uses a tiny amount of bitcoin for its transactions.  So you do need a little bit.  But the amount can be very small indeed.

CounterParty is similar

Etherium uses their own blockchain - you don't need any bitcoin.

Doesn't Ripple (XRP) provide this feature as well?
517  Economy / Economics / Re: What Would a Bitcoin Collapse Look Like? on: May 15, 2015, 09:42:28 AM
tbh I really don't care for bitcoins price. I work on it, so people can gain an advantage instead of forking out loads of money for services such as WU. If the price dropped, I would still be using it as far as I have a bitcoind running on my servers.
518  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: How to open sport bet site on: May 15, 2015, 09:38:30 AM
I could do it if I had the time... Well that's your main problem.

Are you going to hire a single individual, which will take a while to complete, or are you going to hire a team (Which should be much more expensive)
519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin VISA card - a quick review. on: May 05, 2015, 11:03:41 AM
One of the biggest reason to support bitcoin was to challenge the money control monopoly of MasterCard & Visa. If you end up using them ultimately, the fundamental idea of decntralized use of Bitcoin stands defeated. Anyways... it is about personal choice. But, I beleive most bitcoiners wont like this kinda service.

Why and how will this affect Bitcoin? He is using Bitcoin in reality. He is supporting Bitcoin. Or am I wrong?

What's the point of purchasing bitcoin, then converting it back to fiat before spending? I really don't see this as supporting bitcoin.
If you really wanted to support bitcoin, then spend it in places which accept it.
520  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin skyrocketed, what would the future economy that is born look like? on: May 04, 2015, 01:11:58 AM
Unethical regulation, regulation, regulation. Governments trying to milk Bitcoin businesses and processing charges going-up.
