504  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How HARD is it to trace someone on bitcointalk? on: October 23, 2013, 07:59:37 AM
It's rather easy.  You just view their post history and see if they tried to start any billion-dollar illegal ventures using their personal e-mail address.

too soon?

It was a pretty stupid thing for DPR to do. I lol'd when I read that
505  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Looking for sponsor ship for Brisbane BTC Meetup on: October 23, 2013, 06:37:53 AM

506  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How HARD is it to trace someone on bitcointalk? on: October 23, 2013, 05:18:16 AM
Say... Roll Eyes some one Scams YOU and you want to file a Lawsuit against them Huh I haven’t had this happen to me but just in case.  Wink  Grin

Thanks

It depends how honest the person initially is.

I user like me, you could find my real name in about 2 seconds. my phone number in about 10, and my physical address in about 30 seconds

The harder it is to figure out a person's real identity, the more likely it is that you're getting scammed IMO
507  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Feature request: "Disown" coins on: October 21, 2013, 04:46:19 PM
This sounds like more of a protocol issue than a software issue.

mind you, it could be solved here rather than there.

I wonder if there is a way to divert dust payments to a "dust" account.  so that if you want to transfer everything out of an account it doesn't cost you way more than it should.

Ideally it would be an offchain transaction.  a bit like when coins do a loop in your own wallet (I love that armoury message that pops up BTW. It's so cute! Smiley
508  Other / Meta / Re: New Forum Registration disabled ? on: October 21, 2013, 04:37:06 PM
I too am hoping all these fake registrations get fixed.  You go through the list and there are so many 0 post accounts its not funny!

Maybe all 0 post accounts should get deleted if there are no posts within a week,

Then for every post an account has it get delayed delition by 2 weeks.

at the worst people have to sign up again.

Or maybe pay a $10 fee to prevent trimming of your account.

Just a thought Smiley
509  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Ram Uprade on: October 21, 2013, 03:03:01 PM
But I researched on the net and found I could get two 4GHZ cards instead of my two 2 GHZ.
Do you mean 4GB and 2GB?

I'm not a spelling and grammar nazi, I swear!  Wink
510  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Feature request: "Disown" coins on: October 21, 2013, 02:53:35 PM
Transfer those coins to a cold wallet?

Do you want to just temporarily block an address you own? or disown it completely?

514  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: DRILLBIT SYSTEM Miners - 2.7 GH/s thumbs 0.8 BTC, 21.7 GH/s boards 2.5 BTC on: October 20, 2013, 03:03:18 PM
Can anyone tell me the difference between the green and black text in the batch one list of orders?

Green means that the buyer paid for the board and shipping all in full

black means payments are not fully paid

cheers buddy!

I contacted barntech and I hadn't sorted the shipping yet.  I suggest that anyone else not in green to contact barntech
515  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: RAM-Reduction & Backup Center Testing (version 0.89.99.5) on: October 20, 2013, 01:02:15 PM

Gentleman, congratulations!
516  Economy / Speculation / Re: Explain the current BTC / USD trend. on: October 20, 2013, 06:30:54 AM
What is behind the current price trend for BTC?

I'm starting this thread just after the USA just avoided hitting the debt ceiling, which I guess was the reason for the rapid BTC price rise.  However now that they've dodged the bullet (at least for a couple of months), why is the price still rising?

One word.  Inertia

Steve, please tell us what is going on!

If I don't get a plan from you by the end of October, I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask for my 28-odd bitcoins back Sad
519  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining feels pointless these days? Try this... on: October 19, 2013, 08:08:35 AM

Forget about mining to earn back your initial hardware investment. Those days are long gone. Instead, use your miners to support your favorite bitcoin charity or organization. Update the payout address at your favorite pool to pay directly to Sean's Outpost, or Let's Talk Bitcoin. Whatever group you like most, send them the fruits of your hashes. Whenever you pay out, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that you're supporting the bitcoin community.

Despite all the smartarses in here, Smiley I happen to think thats a great idea.

I'll do that with my block erupters when the diff hits 1,000,000,000 <---(this number makes me very sad indeed)
520  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTT] Custom Bitcoin Zippo for Jalapeno on: October 18, 2013, 11:17:26 AM
Thanks! They turned out really well. Zippo does an outstanding job on the printing. I don't know what it's called, but the printing is raised a bit and has a really nice feel.

My original idea was to create a series of these and trade them for mining equipment as the difficulty increases. More for fun than anything else.

I would definitely like to get one of these off you.  Would you be willing to ship, sell?
