rightio, just paid for 15 boards, got the coupon discount, but didn't get a cheaper price for the 10% increase to the bitcoin price Sad

I REALLY hope this is all legit and not some massive scam, I just spent the last of my fluid BTC.

I can't wait t13hydra!  Grin

Out of curiosity, how many boards have been ordered at this point, and what do you think your production capacity will be once the chips arrive?

Seriously, does this thread have a point? If you aren't actually selling this, I may as well report this thread to a moderator so he can delete it or move it.

If you are selling this, make the OP more professional. Indicate your price, where you are shipping from, if you will ship internationally, what payment types you accept, etc.

That comment was about as useful as a screen door on a battleship

883  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Is Avalon mining with customer hardware? Answer is here. on: June 17, 2013, 04:48:54 PM
"RLW" was noticed in the Eligius pool thread a few weeks ago as having brought in 3.5 Th/s for a few days.  Then they (Avalon) left, and came back a couple days later.  There were several pages of discussion speculating who it was.  I guess we know for sure now.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=23768.msg2276814#msg2276814

Here is another thread discussing the 3.5TH/s enigma on eligius a few weeks back.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=214010.msg2280383#msg2280383

Avalon farm of 50+ units seemed unlikely... but not impossible.  Looks like confirmation.

I guess the good news is that the mining difficulty won't go up much when those units ship to their new owners  Roll Eyes

It's not a farm, the payouts would be much higher. Testing is still possible.

Thats what the BLOODY TESTNET IS FOR!

884  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How the hell is Avalon affording to pay for chip production?! on: June 17, 2013, 04:45:18 PM
How did they pay for chips? Simple. mine with your avalons.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=236348.0

Today I finally received my units from Feb. 2 order. One unit was almost clean, while other one is moderate dusty. After checking all connections and desoldering F1 fuse, I started to configure units. First unit has been tuned to ozco.in and that is not surprise, cos same config was on my unit from batch one. Second unit has more interesting config:
http://puu.sh/3hrak.png
As you can see, first pool is eligius.st and most important is address: https://blockchain.info/address/1AYdAw8CcrQ2wx55LTbFHRn5bxgNZhaRLW?offset=0&filter=0
716.40851602 BTC was mined from April 22 by various units. And only gods know, how much was mined on ozco.in.
So, regardles what said Yifu, the answer is: YES, Team Avalon is mining with customer units.

PS: I'm don't have any problems with fact, that Avalon is mining with my units, if this is burn test and not introducing shipment delays.

Holy shit!  That is just disgusting.

That explains how they're able to afford to pay for 1,000,000 ordered customer chips.

EDIT: mind you, the blockchain address in the quote above hasn't had any money taken out of it either. so my original question still stands

885  Bitcoin / Hardware / How the hell is Avalon affording to pay for chip production?! on: June 17, 2013, 03:42:45 PM
Here is the bitcoin address that Avalon has been using to put all their BTC into when people have paid for a 10K Avalon chip order

https://blockchain.info/address/1FGAftzSTztFSB8LMwsrdCKTyqGY6zr3sU

Now considering that up to this point it has had...
Total Received   72,654.2 BTC
Final Balance   72,654.2 BTC
Which means that they have spend ZERO customer funds on production. They've been taking orders for just over 2 months now.

What does this mean? are we all about to get ripped off pirateat40 style or do these guys just not care about money?

If it was me I would at least NEED some of the US$7,500,000 to pay for business expenses

what are your thoughts?

887  Economy / Securities / Re: Why are people buying asic mining shares? are they insane? on: June 17, 2013, 03:17:00 PM

So i really dont understand why anyone will buy asic shares? what is the point? the return on those are terrible, on top of absolutely insane counterparty risk dependent on some guy who is running a black box that tells you what dividend he will pay.

Why would you not just have a physical card you own with no dependency on third party and make significantly more btc as income?  Yet so many smart people are buying those shares...there must be something i am missing?

waiting to be enlightened...

I suppose not everyone has hundreds or thousands of dollars to spend on such equipment.

I just bought $9 worth of mining shares with some BTC I wasn't using, I might only be making 3 cents a day, but thats 3c I didn't have this morning!

On the website, boards are still 0.85BTC. Should I just order there and pay 0.8BTC per board?
PM Sent.

I asked the same question yesterday. What do I do?
889  Economy / Auctions / Re: !!Reverse auction!! asicminer USB --Read OP-- on: June 16, 2013, 12:13:04 PM
Lets try something different, Instead of having something up for auction, I want something and will auction to the cheapest supplier.

There's a word for that.

So realistically when would we start to see dividends from this?
How long to go from preliminary exploration to profitable mining? We're talking a few years before you see any real returns...

I read that as...

How long is a piece of string?

Just bought 2000-odd shares. My first bitcoin Investment (apart from my own mining equipment)   Cool

So realistically when would we start to see dividends from this?
894  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] www.AlphaHPC.com - Order Complete Miners & Avalon Chips from 2.146 BTC on: June 09, 2013, 03:24:48 AM
Hey t13hydra (Steve),

It's a shame there is not a discount for 10 or more miners, cuz I need 15 Smiley

How will the purchase for these boards go?  Will you be purchasing them right away? Pre-built?

Will there be some kind of escrow?

A question about checkout. I'm In Australia (post code 4802)and shipping options came up as
Quote
Shipping
International Delivery: ฿0.700
Local Delivery: ฿1.500
That's strange right?

I'm eagerly awaiting to hear about the other shipping options you were looking at.

also, on a semi related note...

How the hell are you guys affording sending magazines to Australia? (Pic related)

Am I reading that it cost $9.70 to send a magazine worth $8.88 ?  Geez the USPS loves ripping people off ($400 fee for a BFL SC delivery anyone?!?)
897  Economy / Service Discussion / A few Questions about Bitcoin Mag as of late... on: May 31, 2013, 11:52:23 AM
Hi!

I've been collecting Bitcoin Magazines since Issue 3 as regard them as a collector's item.  The last couple of deliveries have arrived rather damaged.

Latest Issue

Previous Issue (Arrived as pictured)

Now I know a lot of you will be thinking "GIVE A FUCK?!?" And if this was just a normal magazine That would be my attitude too. All issues when they were coming out of Europe they were in a second envelope that did WONDERS protecting the contents.

I really want to preserve all bitcoin related items for the future so people can see where we came from.  Thats how much I believe in bitcoin.

Anyone else feel the same?

I use the term Collectible Token and it works well.

Thanks for the tip!

899  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: May 28, 2013, 10:27:16 AM

I ordered my chips at t13hydra's group buy. Looks legit so far. What convinced me to buy there was the fact that John K. supplied the escrow.
Anyway, I won't know for a few weeks if it was a good choice. There is always risk involved.
