521  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Bitcoin Through Google Checkout on: October 17, 2011, 03:34:06 AM
Does anybody know who this guy is? For some reason I can't message him.

It is he who is known as I am.  Or just Atlas.  He had a huge SomethingAwful following https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=48257.0
522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying Bitcoin Through Google Checkout on: October 17, 2011, 03:25:06 AM
I am about to add some technologies I've been experimenting with to the TF2 trading system and make things a little easier for people who make money with this gig, through Bitcoins.

Good luck, I think people have looked into similar things https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=23516.0

525  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ExchB is closing on: October 17, 2011, 12:29:00 AM
Sorry to hear about this, as said above you, you guys definitely shook things up with the depositing cash at an ATM to get the Bitcoin.  I hope other exchanges take advantage of clever little ways to do business like that.  Good luck to you and your people in your next projects.

Lots of cock blocks too.

Close the thread, nothing will bring more to the table than this post lol
527  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [PRESS RELEASE] Free State Project Now Accepting Bitcoins on: October 16, 2011, 04:27:55 PM
So awesome seeing it up on their page so prominent, great support from this group.  I will only be saying positive things about New Hampshire in general from now on.
528  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PonziCoin (3 letter name is SHT)! Sponsored by Bitcoinduit on: October 16, 2011, 04:24:51 PM
My interest is definitely there, still not fully understanding how this works.  I tend to stay away from the Ponzi games, even knowing they are just games, but this would be some cool SHT to support.

530  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / "To: bitcoin forums" - Subverting the First Realm (Our World Today) on: October 16, 2011, 03:33:44 AM
I cannot copy and paste this whole text, as it is a lot of reading, but highly interesting at the very least.    Written by the man Plato who traveled the US with Bitcoin

The full text can be found here, http://codepad.org/k0gRMK5W below is some of the intro to brief on that and then Bitcoin related parts.  I suggest checking out the full thing, I have drank no cool aid nor do I deny new ideas, just read it and found it interesting with Bitcoin as a part of it.

This is a manual for subversives. It explains how we can build a context to work
and play in as we subvert the First Realm and replace it with the Second Realm.

The First Realm is our world today. It is a world of borders and boundaries, of
rules and regulations - a world ruled by authority. The Second Realm is the
world that will replace it. This is our chance to turn the Powers That Be into
the Powers That Were - it's up to us to make sure that we build a utopia instead
of a dystopia.

Subverse is the context for subversion. It is a place for teaching and learning,
a place for trading, and a place to take action.

svs.01.2     Bitcoin
Bitcoin is internet cash. Anyone can send and receive bitcoins without
registering or giving up any personal information. Transactions clear within
minutes, and are permanent. There is a fee structure to reward users who
maintain the network but (as of 7/2011) these fees are negligible. The network
is totally decentralized; many users cooperatively maintain the Bitcoin
blockchain to keep everyone honest. It's difficult or impossible to cheat the
network without possessing 51% of the processing power of the network. This is
already quite a task; Bitcoin is the largest distributed computing project to
date.

svs.01.3     Blockchains
Bitcoin uses a "blockchain" model to store transaction records. Everyone has a
copy of this blockchain - it's basically a distributed database, containing a
single chain of plaintext "blocks". These blocks contain transaction data for
the time period when the block was generated. Each block includes a hash of the
previous block inside itself, to prove that the block is part of the same chain
and was generated at a later time. The blocks include a solution to a
proof-of-work problem, so users can't submit fake blocks at their whim.

svs.01.4     Trust Networks
Using GPG, it's possible to build a network of pseudonymous users who trust each
other without ever meeting face to face. #bitcoin-otc on Freenode
(www.bitcoin-otc.com) has an implementation by nanotube. Users rate each other
after transactions, and the data is publically available for other users to see.
As more trades happen and more users participate, the trust information becomes
more reliable.

I wonder if someone else were to do the hard work to actually set it up, possibly have to pay for it, make sure Real Solid approves of the third party being used, would he be okay with this?  Or this has been specifically brought up with him in which he said no?

For the sake of him being able to keep his code and everyone else at the least trust nothing is shady going on in regards to known ways to harm our computers, I do not see why he wouldn't be down for this.

The more I think of it though, would it matter that much if they wouldn't know what to look for in with these digital currency clients and how they operate.  Or is the malware, virus, etc check at least a start.
532  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: October 16, 2011, 02:13:08 AM
"There have been reported instances where this interception of transactions have occurred. Releasing the code would 100% either prove this false or prove it true. There is no legitimate reason to withhold the source."   I like open source, I hate that it is forced upon people though that don't want to do it, but I do wonder, with a claim like this or any others, is it possible for SolidCoin to be checked thoroughly without the need for him to release the code he obviously does not want to, at least at this time?
533  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Kiva Mutual Fund - GLBSE Ticker: KIVA on: October 15, 2011, 05:42:37 PM
How long until you give up on this idea? Will it last more than 24 hours?

Three posts in, that didn't take long lol.

I am not sure about how this will be viewed by some as though this is Kiva themselves a part of this operation, especially with that ticker symbol.  Unless they are in fact involved directly with this?

The built in GUI miner with pool choices would be huge for any coin that took the time out to ensure they implement that, well done design choice.
536  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Review Bitcoin Stores At Search Bitcoin on: October 15, 2011, 05:04:47 PM
That looks very interesting and probably could be integrated in some way, if not just an offshoot of what he is currently offering.
537  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: March 2012 BitCon in San Antonio, Texas - News Thread on: October 15, 2011, 04:34:04 PM
I genuinely want to go, it is far enough away where I hope I can.

To make this post more useful, some questions that maybe you can edit into the first post there.  Just regarding list of any attendees that wish to say that they are attending, whether it be business or just personally showing up.
538  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does the Bitcoin need the most now? on: October 15, 2011, 04:21:23 PM
Make these forums official again so when people reference the "Bitcoin Community" it can actually have a definite meaning.

Or take down the link to the Bitcoin Stack Exchange and that Google search link on the front page of http://bitcoin.org and point to this page https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Bitcoin:Community_portal

or the SomethingAwful gang is actually NOT a bunch of totally irrelevant, ignorant, infantile loosers. Or he's just bored enough to waste time on their crap.
It is actually and exactly both of these things.
