What will happen if i have a wallet that I cannot update before the fork, I only use it to send some term deposit coin, its ok if I update after?

If your wallet is not updated at the time of the fork you will be banned from the network. You won't be able to mine, send or receive coins. Your existing coins will be fine and you won't lose them.

Important announcement:

ROI coin is currently at block 17000 and will hard fork at block 25000 on our about
December 15th. You need to download and update to the newest wallet version prior to the fork. You can find
the wallet at https://roi-coin.com/roi-coin-downloads or https://github.com/ROIcoin/ROIcoin/releases

If you have any questions about doing the update please refer to the Release Notes at the  GitHub link above.

Thank you for your hard work and new wallet! We only get ~600 blocks per day instead of 720, so I think block 25000 will be reached on 17.12./18.12. Or am I wrong?

Are there any changes with the fork (on MIDAS or something else) to increase the block finding per day? We still find only 80% of expected blocks per day since coin has startet.

The estimated date will likely be off a bit because of the explanation you gave. We didn't modify the MIDAS algo in this update but I can't predict exactly how many blocks the chain will spit out per day. We have made a higher staking APR as compared to the original target goal and this will help some with the block count being slower. If the chain continues to run at 80% even with the network hash staying at a steady rate we will take a look at the algo and see how that can be adjusted.
543  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ROI] ROI Coin | CPU Only Solo Mining Hybrid | 8% POS | 600% Term Deposit on: December 05, 2017, 02:49:47 AM
Important Announcement:

As you are probably aware ROI Coin is listed at CoinsMarkets Exchange.

Also, you should already be aware that we are pending a hard fork at block 25,000 which should occur on or around December 15th.

Some of you may have coins at the exchange and others of you may be considering buying or selling coins at the exchange.

We have already submitted the newest wallet release to the exchange and they have already compiled it and have it running as of now with no issues. Mind you I just sent them an email and within just a few hours they had this completely taken care of. Hats off to CoinsMarkets for doing a super terrific and very fast job on this. I am very pleased with how they handled our fork on their end.

What this means is this is yet another step that is on our way to what we hope to be the most boring fork in the history of cryptocurrency. You can feel free to keep coins at this exchange or buy and or sell coins at this exchange before during and after the fork with no issues.

We have worked very hard to provide a fork that is focused on the needs of the community and in that mindset we want to move pre-fork/fork/post-fork smoothly and with no interruption to your mining, staking, term-depositing and exchange activities. Even the wallet update has been focused with the intent of click-click and you're done. No re-syncing the block chain, no wallet zapping, or any of that. You should be able to overwrite your existing wallet with the new one with no technical skill or special techniques required. We do however always recommend that you create a fresh wallet.dat backup just to be on the safe side.

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions I would love to hear them. Thank you for your patience and as always your interest and participation in this coin is very much appreciated. ROI Coin is focused and revolves around it's community because without a community a coin is nothing.

For the new wallet.
Is staking default or staking=1 necessary on conf file?
How can I know my wallet is staking?

Staking and term deposits are default on the old wallet and the new wallet. The code is designed that way. You do not need to do anything. If you have some coins in your wallet they will stake every block of the blockchain (approximately 2 minutes) and they will stake if your wallet is online or if your wallet is offline and they will stake if your wallet is locked or unlocked.

If you have had other staking coins you will quickly see that ROI is very different. Each wallet whether it has 1 coin or 1 billion coins and whether it is online or offline and whether it is locked or unlocked will stake exactly the same each and every time the blockchain spits out the next block.

If you have your wallet running and you watch your available balance you will see it increase every two minutes or so and every time the blockchain processes the next block...

1000 coins TD for 7 years.

1 Y = 1000 @ 600% = 6000
2 Y = 36 000
3 Y = 216 000
4 Y = 1 296 000
5 Y = 7 776 000
6 Y = 46 656 000
7 Y = 279 936 000

I would not recommend term depositing coins for more than 12 months. If you do the payout stops at 12 months but the coins will still be locked. So if you term deposit coins for 7 years they will be locked for 7 years but after 1 year no more interest payout = 6 years of locked coins with no term deposit ROI...

I think it would be better if the wallet would not let the users make a term deposit longer than 365 days.  Cool

Interesting suggestion! The best way to help us make the wallet better for the community is submit your issues here: https://github.com/ROIcoin/ROIcoin/issues

Lol. 1 year is plenty long enough imo.

Btw, any info on when the new wallet will be out? Or is it still being tested?

New wallet should be ready for download today or tomorrow. We are going to set the fork at block 25000 instead of 20000 to allow the community more time to be ready for the fork. The dev team has worked very hard to create an updated wallet that you can install and use before the fork and that wallet will move pre-fork | fork | post-fork | so you can have a seamless / painless transition.

Stay tuned to this tread so you will be aware of when the new wallet download becomes available.

I mean if after 1 year I got my coins back but a deposit them, years after years.

Oh very cool you are are doing these calculations!

Couple of points on this topic:

Many of you are very knowledgeable and have worked with a lot of different coins that stake. When you get into the details of ROI coin it's clear the coin is very different. For example, many staking coins have to compete so the code considers wallet weight / network weight, etc. and then trying to stake is not unlike trying to mine and you are competing. Sometimes you may stake other times maybe not and even then the amount staked can vary. Some other staking coins require your wallet to be online-connected to the network-and unlocked to stake. Past all that and in terms of staking coins I am only aware of 3 coins in the world that provides for a "term deposit" in addition to the typical staking.

Now look at ROI and see some cool differences and I would call them improvements that are aimed at making the coin more of a candidate for mass adoption to common users. With ROI you know precisely how much it will stake and precisely how much it will term deposit. You do not compete with anyone to get your stake or term deposit payout. Each and every time the blockchain spits out the next block you are getting paid for your staking and your term deposit. Fact is you can literally sit and stare at you wallet and watch the available balance go up each time the next block cracks. Also, with ROI you do not need to have your wallet online and you do not have to have it connected to the network and you do not have to have it unlocked to get all of your payouts.

Why do these differences really matter? They matter for several reasons. First off from an investment perspective it sure is nice to know ahead of time what your investment will do in terms of interest gain. If you put money in a savings account or if you buy a certificate of deposit you know from ground zero what that payout is going to be. Same thing with ROI coin there is not mystery to if or when or how much you will be rewarded for staking or term depositing. Next - With this coin you have more options... you can POW mine it, you can leave coins available for use (unlocked) and get payout, you can term deposit (lock) coins and get a much bigger payout and you can do a combination of all three. It's up to you. Finally, because the coin does not require to be online-connected-unlocked to payout this makes it more user friendly to people who simply cannot have their pc running/connected/unlocked day and night. Plus, this also opens the door for other unique options that we are working on implementing after the fork - for example - an "offline" paper wallet that will store you staking or term deposit ROI coins that you could tuck away in a door and then revisit a month or year later all with not even having to worry about messing with a QT wallet at all...

I got to get some stuff done or I would go into even more things but suffice it to say this coin is different than most and the differences should be attractive to a bunch of people...

The logo looks fantastic, but I remind you that without exchange there is no coin. I'm telling you from experience.

What has happened with Yobit and the other exchanges?

Do not delay or the coin will end up having a value of 1 satoshi.

If help is needed, pm
Good luck.-

Additional exchange listings need to wait on the upcoming fork and that will be happening very soon...

I really appreciate all the hard work dev’s and community of ROI coin. I hope to see a great future with this coin.

I am solo mining with ROI 64bit Windows wallet for 10 days now. I am planning to start “Solo Mining ROI As Part Of A Cluster” (as I have 2 computers to mine now) but being a newbie I a confused about what address to use.

Just for testing, this morning  I sent 120 ROI coins from 64bit Windows wallet to coinsmarkets. That worked great. Then, I sent back 20 coins to my ROI wallet using address I found by going to Receive-Request Payment- Address. 20 coins arrived and I thought that I have address that I can use for cluster. When I went again to Receive-Request Payment- Address, it showed me different address. Every time I press “Request Payment" I got different address!? I am confused. What address I should use to start “Solo Mining ROI As Part Of A Cluster” and receive coins? Where can I find it?

You can use any address that you get from using "Receive" The wallet does make a new address each time you click "Receive" and then click "Request Payment." Don't worry because every address you create when you click "Request Payment" will go to your wallet only. Good luck with your mining!
552  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ROI] ROI Coin | CPU Only Solo Mining Hybrid | 8% POS | 600% Term Deposit on: December 02, 2017, 11:14:03 PM
We are now testing the latest wallet release on the main blockchain. If everything goes good we will release it in the next few days.

What to expect?

We have preserved the term deposit rates prior to the fork. This means their is parallel code running for users. Coins term deposited before the fork will continue as they were. Post-fork coins will term deposit at the new corrected rate that is what we anticipated at launch.

POS coins before the fork will move to the new POS APR exactly at the fork block. The new POS APR has been changed from the launch POS APR and you will be happy with that change as it has increased from the target 17% APR.

The new wallet will be available for download and use before the fork however it will be in read only mode. This means you can use your existing wallet.dat and coins as normal and you can mine. If you load the new wallet before the fork you will not be able to send/receive/term deposit coins. If you need to send/receive/term deposit coins prior to the fork I recommend that you run the current wallet version.

After the fork and after we stabilize post-fork we will be doing an extensive paid marketing push at Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google, Bing and with banner ads.

Lastly, I have launched several new domain names for the cryptocurrency community. The first site is http://cryptocurrency-hub.com. This site will be a portal that offers crypto services such as seed nodes, coin development, coin forking, block explorers and more. I also created a new website at http://cryptocapworld.com and this is a coin market cap site that features over 1800 coins and some very cool features. We will be using it to market ROI coin and will also entertain paid marketing for other altcoins to help provide additional marketing funds for ROI Coin. Last but not least I also bought the domain. http://BigCoinEX.com and this will be a created from scratch crypto exchange for altcoins and I will notify you as soon as I have it ready to go.

I appreciate your commitment and patience as we work through these launch issues and move forward to improve our coin and grow our community! Many thanks to Brazil and China who were able to burn our shared hosting server to the ground in a matter of hours! This shows an interest in the coin and it also forced us to upgrade and improve our infrastructure to meet the current and future demands of ROI ROIN!

Great work on the cluster and the site. As a site owner myself, it's very annoying when things break and you take it very personally. You're doing a great job Smiley

Anyway, another day another question.

At the moment, I have one wallet address which my coins come into. I use the same address when depositing coins . As best practice should I be using different ones? If so how many?

Thanks in advance

T

I really don't describe any best practice because different users prefer different approaches. You can send to that one address that is fine. You can also make many addresses it's just up to you...

Just wanted to let everyone know the site is back up and now on a dedicated enterprise level server! Also, we are very close to releasing the new wallet version... https://roi-coin.com/index

This coin has no mining pool ?!

Please try these Smiley

ROI Coin Cluster Mining

Miner Pools
Website: http://roicluster.miner-pools.com/
Description: Solo mining as part of a cluster is you connecting to one node with other users connecting to that same node. You can connect as many computers to the cluster node as you like. When you successfully mine a block you get 100% of the block for 120 coins with zero fees. Basically, cluster mining is extremely efficient and more profitable than your typical pool.

Are we required to do anything for the upcoming fork?

No. We are working very hard and testing out the wallet. The plan is to make this wallet available prior to fork and then you can run this new wallet pre-fork and move right through the fork seamlessly.

Let me know if you need more details...

ROI could use a rebrand, logo isnt looking pro
what you think bout it?

Ears are always open to the community and this is the first time in 64 pages of chat that this has been brought up...

What do you have in mind?

If you can produce a superior logo I'd love to see it and past that any new/superior logo can be decided on from community feedback...

Hello,

People are comming to me and asking if is the website in maintenance, because they are trying to download the wallet all day but nothing.

Yes newgil. You see I failed to realize the traffic the coin would generate. We pulled well over 100 Gig of bandwidth very quickly. This is great news because it shows the coin has some interest. At the same time it created an issue because I initially developed the site on shared hosting. This overwhelmed the account and it had to be shut down.

I then paid more than $5300 USD and got a very nice enterprise level dedicated server that can do what is needed. It has already been provisioned and now I must complete all the setup and of course do the migration. I am working on this and will have it done as quickly as possible. In the meantime if anyone needs the wallet please go and download it at Github which you can find at: https://github.com/ROIcoin/ROIcoin/releases

Sorry for the inconvenience...

Quick Update:

The website at https://roi-coin.com is offline. This is due to extreme site traffic, bandwidth and cpu usage levels. I'm currently migrating everything to enterprise level dedicated hosting and will get this done as fast as possible.

In the meantime please download the wallet compiles at Github by visiting https://github.com/ROIcoin/ROIcoin/releases

If you have any concerns or questions just let me know  Smiley

How to read block explorer data and to where have my coin gone?

Block explorer show this data for my address:
Total Received (ROI): 3262
Total Sent (ROI): 620 this seems to be increasing.
Balance (ROI): 2641

I have not send those 620 coins. I have made deposits but those are send back to that address. Block explorer shows only one red transactions and that is about 0.5 coins.

Command listaddressgroupings reports that there are 2779 coins. Are accured coins included?

Do you have the TX id on the transaction your are checking out?

Sometimes it gets confusing because the blockexplorer may show different transactions that were combined together...
