241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] PWR coin | Re-branding | New Dev Team | An Old Coin Is Getting A New Life on: March 20, 2018, 07:40:26 PM
Quick Update: I just updated Github with fresh binaries for Windows and Linux and I also added a boostrap blockchain. https://github.com/PWRcoin/PWRcoin/releases

This is not a new release that is still being worked on but first the compilation process for Windows and Mac needs to be figured out.

Quick Update: The dev team has updated Github and the readme file now includes a link to Discord as well as a full set of instructions for compiling the Linux daemon and Linux QT wallet using Ubuntu 16.04. We are now working on the compile routines for Windows and Mac and will update Github and release those directions as soon as they are ready.

We are sitting in the number 8 slot now and only need about 10 votes right now to move up into the number 7 slot.

If you can vote once a day it would be a big help on getting us listed at this exchange Cheesy

Whic settings i must put on my cpu miner to get the best performance,i have intel core i7700k?
Thank you

If you are mining from the wallet you should try out the -optimineraes=1 flag

If you are pool mining you should watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dR2fgqCSJ4Y&t=7s

If you are looking to optimize your mining you should watch this video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Bx6SIG6_70&t=190s

Lastly there has been tons of discussion about this topic so go back and research the many threads here...

What are the differences between this and HODLcoin? Any specialties or interesting points?

For starters look at the post you did in the HOdl thread and it's gotten no response yet. Now look at your post in here and note that you're quickly getting responses. My point is this our community and attention to members is very good indeed.

Now to your legitimate question I want to say a few things first. Know this, I am a big fan of HOdl coin, I mine it I stake it I term deposit it and I have been in their community for some time now. The fact that I picked HOdl coin to fork and make ROI coin tells a lot because I could have picked any coin known to man. I think HOdl is a great coin so I am not interested in making a tread here about ROI vs HOdl yada yada but I am happy to talk about the differences. As far as which coin is better you should look at the information and make your own decision.

Many coin launches involve copy/paste, change the name, change the logo and presto-bingo a new (not really) coin is born. ROI was no such animal I can assure you.

Let's start with some basic coin specs...

ROI is a faster block chain with target spacing at 120 seconds vs Hodl at 154 seconds.
ROI has a much longer window of POW with the code anticipating a POW mining period that spans roughly 30 years.
ROI does not have pre-determined halving like HOdl and remains constant and will be changed if and when needed as the community feedback and data dictates.
ROI has a much higher standard POS of 15% compared to HOdl's 5%.
ROI has a much higher term deposit rate of up to 593%.
Where the HOdl term deposit rate was super high and dropped to almost nothing across a 2 year span the ROI coin term deposit rate is constant.
ROI POW reward is much higher at 120 coins vs Hodl at 50 coins
ROI has a superior difficulty algorithm (MIDAS) as compared to HOdl
ROI coins do not have to be moved and reset every 30 days to keep gaining standard POS whereas HOdl coins do.

In terms of basic coin specs ROI is immensely different. In terms of what is similar both coins use the same 1GB AES algo and both coins are triple-hybrids - IE: POW | POS | Term Deposit

Let's look at the community and the relationship and interaction between the devs and users...

I like to think ROI coin is top shelf in how we focus on the needs of the community. We work hard to respond quickly and we don't force any changes but always look for a general community consensus. The community is diverse and thriving and you can see that if you just look around. The people here can verify that the entire dev team has stayed up all night and produced hot fixes almost immediately when they were needed. Others here can testify that we have replaced millions of coins that were lost due to various issues... when is the last time you saw a dev team replace coins that were lost when mined on the wrong chain?

Let's look at the digital footprint...

ROI has a far superior digital footprint in terms of professional graphics, videos, social media channels, website and paid marketing. Our white paper is excellent, our road map is very aggressive and we have completed all road map tasks ahead of schedule. This shows clearly with us being a few months old vs a 2 year old coin and we have more than double the network hashrate and a higher trading price.

Now the path forward...

ROI is just getting started and look at how many pages already on BitcoinTalk. Just look at over 600 users signed up at the website. ROI has substantial investment capital behind it to sustain infrastructure expenses and marketing expenses. Note our 2 block explorers and 10+ seed nodes... those things aren't free. Moving forward there will be stable infrastructure to support the coin and there will also be plenty of effective paid marketing.

In the end both coins are good coins IMHO but I think ROI has a noticeable edge in a few different areas. Whichever coin you decide to run with or even run with both of them I wish you the best of luck!

Quick update:

  • Press release is submitted.
  • Ads are running at Twitter
  • Facebook declined advertising.
  • Google & YouTube declined advertising.
  • Created a new Telegram channel for official annoucements at http://t.me/ROI_coin (ANN updated)
  • Created a new Telegram group for the community at https://t.me/joinchat/I0JIzQ72Fz6EWWAMwQURhQ (ANN updated)

Why the decline?
  • Google & YouTube declined advertising.
I can still see many Cryptocurrency advertisement in Youtube and Google.

All I can tell you is at Facebook I submitted a post to be boosted and it was flat declined.
At Google I called them and was told I can't pay for pay per click or video ads for the coin.
At Twitter I had no problem at all and ads are running right now.

@ DisasterFaster : Excellent post. It covers most of the things nicely.

this is just my opinion but what I love mostly about roi coin is that you don't have to spend a penny no initial investment required to get the coins. Its free and for everyone Smiley

Thanks for the suggestion I added it to the other items!

Quick update and request for feedback:

I'm getting ready to push out a press release on PR Web. The press release is below and if you have any suggestions to improve it let me know Smiley

Title:

ROI Coin Brings Cryptocurrency Mining To The Masses

Summary:

Although many people are curious about mining cryptocurrency they lack the technical skills and expensive specialized equipment that is required. Until now that is... ROI coin has uniquely solved this dilemma by providing a way for anyone with an ordinary computer to mine ROI coins with the click of a mouse. This could be a game changer since it places cryptocurrency mining within reach of nearly anyone around the globe.

Body:

The founder of ROI coin had been mining, buying and trading in a wide variety of cryptocurrencies and concluded that something very important was missing and that was simplicity. How could crypto coins expect to experience mass adoption when they had over complicated matters to the point that they were out of reach for ordinary folks.

The problems with cryptocurrencies:

1.   Mining is costly and complex requiring technical skills and expensive equipment.
2.   Mining is too competitive to be productive on ordinary computers.
3.   Interest bearing coins require large balances to compete for rewards.
4.   Interest bearing coins require you to keep a wallet running and unlocked to get rewards.
5.   Interest bearing coins do not pay any set or regular amounts that one knows beforehand.
6.   Interest bearing coins can’t be stored offline and still receive payouts.
7.   Interest bearing coins forfeit their payouts while sitting in exchanges waiting to be traded.
8.   Interest bearing coins do not offer an option to term deposit for increased payouts.

The solutions provided by ROI coin:

1.   Mining functionality is simplistically built into the wallet and turned on or off with a mouse click using a typical computer.
2.   Mining is within reach of the masses and nearly anyone can acquire mined coins at this time.
3.   Interest payouts are not dependent upon your quantity of coins and your balance does not have to compete with anyone else’s balance to receive its full interest payout.
4.   Interest payouts occur every few minutes regardless of your wallet status, so your wallet can be locked and offline and you will get your full reward.
5.   Interest payouts are a set and constant amount. Whether standard payout or term deposit payout you will know how much it is from the beginning.
6.   You can safely store your coins in cold storage offline and you will still receive your full reward.
7.   By trading on a decentralized exchange your coins will receive full reward while waiting for the trade to occur.
8.   Coins can be term deposited for 2 days up to 1 year for increased interest rewards.

The results thus far:

ROI coin is growing a large and diverse user base and is quickly marching around the globe. As of the time of this writing the community of the coin is dispersed into every continent on earth and is actively engaged in mining the coin. Also, reception of the coin has been very positive, and users have communicated their fondness of the variety of unique and desirable features.

What does the path forward look like?

ROI coin has an aggressive road map that is designed to provide forward and upward momentum for the coin. To date, the development team has been faithful to complete every promised road map task before the deadline. As the coin continues to gain more supporters and as word of mouth spreads there is a hopeful expectation that the coin will experience an increase in popularity and value.

How can you learn more?

The best place to begin your research of ROI coin is at the website which is located at: https://roi-coin.com. You should also take a moment to check out the diverse social community which can be found at Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google Plus, Instagram, Bitcointalk, Discord and Slack. Be sure to look over the road map and white paper to get a feel for the design of the coin and the planned future steps.

Last but certainly not least, please always be aware that all cryptocurrencies come with various risks and you should never invest any money that you can’t afford to lose!

Is this still solo mineable or is everyone on pools now?

I can't speak for anybody else but I am not having any problems solo mining from the wallet using the -optimineraes=1 flag.

BTW my weakest CPU is an i7-3770 model.

Wow I just noticed this thread lot of great info here.

If you're interested in ROI coin I can give you some details.

It's CPU only so you don't have to compete with high powered GPU or ASIC.
You can mine straight from the wallet with a mouse click so if you don't know how to set up mining software or mining pool connections this makes things easy.
It is mineable and I am currently able to solo mine it with an i7-3770 which is nothing exotic.

The coin has good staking and stakes a bit different than most coins. It stakes every block on the chain and every users stakes the same percentage so you don't have to compete with wallet weight vs. network weight etc. It also stakes even if the wallet is locked or completely offline

Another thing is the term deposit feature. With this you can term deposit coins from 2 days up to 1 year and the interest payout goes much higher.

You can check out a mining tutorial video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dR2fgqCSJ4Y

Important Notice:

It is critical that you verify that you're on wallet version 1.1.6.0 and that your wallet matches the block explorer block height.

The fastest way to know the block explorer height is to visit: https://blockexplorer.roi-coin.com/api/getblockcount

If you do not match the correct block please backup your wallet.dat file then delete your blocks and chainstate folders and then download the bootstrap blockchain at: https://github.com/ROIcoin/ROIcoin/releases/download/v1.1.6.000/bootstrap-1532018.zip

I received my PWR from the Airdrop a long time ago.
Then sometimes I checked the thread and I thought the project was dead.
Do I have to swap the original tokens? Did I miss the train?
Indeed, the project seems to be stagnant, the community is very active, and I don't know what happened.

Ouch LOL!

What you call stagnant is numerous people working on this coin every day many hours....

Fasten your seatbelt this coin will rise from the grave very soon!

Important Update:

We have a hard fork coming up in about 6 hours so you have to update to the newest wallet version.

Also, the new website is live now and you can visit it at https://roi-coin.com/

The old community site still exists and you're encouraged to continue use it at https://roi-coin.com/roi-coin-community/

The marketing push will begin tomorrow assuming the fork pushes through this evening with no issues.

Roicoin now on the latest version of BarterDEX
download here
https://github.com/KomodoPlatform/BarterDEX/releases/tag/0.8.11-rc

Beat me to it! Cheesy

Update: ROI coin is now listed on the BarterDEX exchange. This is a de-centralized exchange and you can download the release here: https://github.com/KomodoPlatform/BarterDEX/releases/tag/0.8.11-rc

Would you mind explaining why something has to be downloaded to see exchange? I only know about exchanges using web sites where we can see the price to sell/buy, we open account and we trade.

On the exchanges you are used to using you send your coins there and the exchange has them. You can buy or sell coins at the exchange and you are limited to what the exchange pairs together for buying and selling. Also, in many cases the exchange will harvest the staking and also if an exchange goes down you may or may not get your coins.

A de-centralized exchange is very different than this. This is a peer to peer network of users. The de-centralized exchange is actually a software running on your computer that can communicate with your local wallet(s) and it can also communicate with all the other people and their wallets that are connected with the software. In this situation your coins stay on your computer and you get all the staking rewards. Also, this gives you the option to pair your sell order with any other coin. For example you can put ROI up for sale and exchange it for any coin that is listed at the de-centralized exchange.
